When you spend a lifetime at war with your body, it's easy to feel disconnected from it. This makes it harder to practice intuitive eating (how are you supposed to TRUST your body's cues?!), harder to enjoy movement (every workout is a fight) and harder to show it love (when what you see in the mirror doesn't feel like ‘you').Emma Walkinshaw is a Body Confidence Coach and accredited yoga instructor who is passionate about helping women to build a connection with their bodies, so that they can work with them, rather than against them.In this episode, Emma and I chat about:How she did her yoga teacher training without ever believing she'd teach, because she didn't have a ‘yoga body'The best yoga for beginners (and how to build the courage to actually go)Creating connection with your bodyYoga and mindfulness for body confidenceWorking with your nervous system to create calmThe role of morning routines in building self-awareness and a solid relationship with yourselfFollow Emma on Instagram here or join her 21 Minutes of Morning Magic Community here.Download the FREE Building Body Acceptance self-paced online course here.Click subscribe or follow to make sure you get notified about new episodes.Slide into my DMs for a chat: https://www.instagram.com/inspire__wellnessWebsite: https://www.inspirewellnessau.com.au

Lindsay hasn't just had one next chapter. She's had several – from playing badminton for Scotland as a child, to working in sports journalism, singing in bars around Scotland and working in PR. She's now using everything she's learned in her work as a body confidence coach – which she decided to train as when she saw so many wonderful women in her life struggling. She has her own podcast and over the years she says she's worked with thousands of people helping them to feel happier within themselves and improve their self-acceptance. Lindsay believes we all have it in us to ‘shine' and it's all about how we feel. But she believes the ‘feeling' we're all hoping for always comes after the action. The feeling of wholeness, peace and contentment - however that looks for us. Whatever it is we're putting off, is no doubt the very thing we need to do. She believes deep down we all know what we need to feel our best, whether it's a little more exercise, changing our diet or leaving a job which is making us miserable. It's the thoughts that are holding us back, but when we question where did those thoughts come from and are they really true?… well, we can push them aside, a bit like the clouds - and the sun they've been hiding can begin to shine again.
It's an impossible conundrum- how do we encourage kids to become healthy eaters without destroying their body confidence? Speaker, writer and expert Emma Wright's latest book, Body Confident - A Guide to Raising Healthy Eaters, promises to end dinner table disputes and curb possible future image issues. She says a lot of healthy eating advice for children can open the door to calorie counting and eating disorders, so it's important to address those red flags while supporting healthy eating. "A lot of people think eating disorders were a massive thing in the 90s, but aren't so big anymore, that's completely inaccurate. We had a 400 percent increase in demand for eating disorder services after Covid." LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On this episode of The Awakened Feminine podcast, I chat with Erin Avery, a Binge Recovery and Body Confidence Coach whose mission is to teach women how to start working with their body instead of against it so that they can stop overeating, break up with binge eating, let go of fear and have reclaimed their power over food, body, and health for a lifetime. After spending over 20 years caught in the yo-yo dieting and feeling like she wasn't good enough, she set out to end her struggle with binge eating and body image. Erin studied a lot on behavior and mindset in order to break the negative patterns she had and create new ones. She is passionate about educating women on how to eat in a way that honors their true hunger, how to build awareness around their bodies, and how to become in alignment with them both so they spend more time working with them and not against them. During our time together, Erin and I dive into: Reclaiming your power Healing your past trauma to break destructive habits The power of forgiveness and self-compassion Growing up and fitting in (yes, we talk about race) Plus so much more! “If the sizing bothers you, simply cut the tag off”. In this episode of Corporate to Calm we speak with Sarah Lyons from Well Styled by Sarah and the recently launched Sarah Lyons Coaching. We chat about her love of fashion and how shopping trips would end up in her offering advice to other shoppers. This resulted in the birth of Well Styled by Sarah. Sarah worked primarily within the pharmacy industry managing stores and like our last guest left her career when she had her first child. As motherhood ensued Sarah decided as much as she loves her children, she wanted more for herself. “I'm so lost, I don't know what to do, I feel like I've no purpose outside being a mother” Sarah is so honest about her loss of identity when she became a Mum. Her story really rings through with my own, wanting you children so much, wanting to be the best Mum and losing yourself in the process. The meaningless chat at the schoolyard gates, the endless collections, there must be more to this. “Who are you, Sarah?” Sarah absolutely loves fashion and her move to styling was inevitable. Her business is successful but like us all we have faced the unknown over the past two years. Sarah wondered what more she wanted from her career, she knew she wanted to help people feel good about themselves internally as well as externally. She wanted to help people back to themselves and understand that the fashion industry is… “Viewing you as an object to wear their clothes now looking at you as a person.” Sarah's body confidence coaching is so appealing and needed. She talks with such passion. Your body changes every single day, and you can't simply focus on one thing. She teaches her clients that they can change their story. Her businesses marry well together, and she realised when with a client one day that she needed the skills to empower women to feel good in their bodies, making it “an inside and outside job” Sarah's biggest piece of advice is to listen to yourself because your wisdom comes for your gut and always go with that, make a plan and put the action to it. Sarah's chat is honest, refreshing and so common in a world where a woman gives up her career to have children and it is not quite the fairy-tale it was expected to be. She has taken her past experiences in business and learned from them. Sarah has just launched her new coaching website and 2022 is looking bright. Enjoy x

After she recovered from her eating disorder, Anne Poirier reflected on the pivotal moments that led her to dieting, not feeling good enough and trying to control her body size. This insight led her to become a Certified Intuitive Eating and Body Confidence Coach, Self-Talk Trainer, and Eating Disorder Specialist. Anne is also the author of the forthcoming book “The Body Joyful - My journey from self-loathing to self-acceptance” available October 5, 2021. In this powerful conversation, Anne and I talked about: How important it is to have another option on the table around how to be in relation with food and your body. Grieving a body size you lived in in the past so you can move forward. The importance of self-talk, how to recognize the different voices you have in your mind and how to create a more compassionate narrative. How diet culture lures us into feeling safe by dieting, but only creates false safety when we compare and judge our bodies. One of the challenges of starting an intuitive eating journey is the fear of the unknown. Why community is so important in the work of intuitive eating. In today's episode, I welcome Judi Craddock, the Body Confidence Coach, onto the show. Judi helps women to stop chasing the perfect body and embrace the one they're in now. In the episode we talked about: Judi's struggle around body image and confidence, which started when she was 7 years old What body confidence means Why mums feel so much pressure to return to their pre-pregnancy body Why getting past body image issues can change the experience of motherhood Why role modelling is so important for our children, especially our daughters Judi ends with two great tips for building body confidence straight away: Start a gratitude practice - appreciate the everyday things your body does for you and notice how your body feels when you hug your child or lie in a bubble bath. Create a body-safe environment - become aware of your media consumption and how it affects the way you perceive yourself and your body. Think about who you spend your time with and what sort of conversations you have with them, and how that informs the way you think about your body. This was one of those episodes that I think should be compulsory listening for all new mums because Judi came across as such a compassionate person on a mission to break the vicious cycle around body image that can often start in childhood. If you've ever had any doubts or worries about the way you look during pregnancy or after giving birth, this is the one for you. Aubrey Wall is a semi-professional triathlete and former synchronized swimmer who resides in Bozeman, Montana. After a severe eating disorder ended her synchronized swimming career, Aubrey entered into an Intensive Outpatient Recovery Program, where she spent close to a year healing her relationship with food and her body. But, after finishing her recovery program, she realized there was little to no community or support around how to maintain a healthy relationship with movement, food and her body outside of strict eating disorder treatment. This led Aubrey to start her own business, Training for Body Acceptance, where she is the lead Body Confidence Coach and provides group and one-on-one coaching packages to individuals wanting to unlearn diet culture, discover food freedom and build an empowered self-image. Outside of her work, she enjoys mountain biking and trail running with her fiancé JP and dog Hank, drinking coffee and pomelos, connecting with friends, traveling, and endurance racing. This is an inspiring story of a woman who overcame many obstacles in order to become who she is today. Named a girl version of modern Forrest Gump in kindergarten, Emmy Cornwell fought through a difficult physical disability that had her wear braces on the top part of her legs. Additionally, as an adult, focusing her passion for life via dieting and nutrition, she’s found a way to lose pesky weight. Emmy is an incredibly bright, fun, young woman. She has this contagious enthusiasm about everything she does, including her job as a school librarian, Body Confidence Coach, and now a new Podcaster herself. She became a fitness enthusiast in order to encourage, motivate and teach other women how to be a fierce, confident female, and be happy no matter what. In this episode, your host, Joanna Sobjanek, sits down with the lovely Emmy, to talk about her journey, her trials and tribulations, and the sacrifices she’s made to achieve her goals. As we listen to her story we learn of her wisdom and personal discovery, and what happiness really means to her today. Tune in today! Thank you for listening! This week on the Speaking of Hungry podcast I speak with Michelle Vino-Baltsas, a Certified Intuitive Eating and Body Confidence Coach, who's been coaching women internationally for over six years. She specializes in helping women deal with body changes in midlife. It’s hard enough for us to feel good about our bodies when we’re up against diet culture and unrealistic thin ideals. Michelle recognizes that when you throw in the natural process of aging, pre-menopause, and menopause, the struggle deepens. In this episode, we talk about Michelle’s relationship with food and how it’s changed as she’s grown personally and professionally. We discuss: Embracing the fact that we age. Dealing with body changes that women face through aging. Coping with weight gain that may occur once we give up dieting without going on another diet or “lifestyle change”. Dieting causes weight gain in the long run by messing with metabolism and throwing us into a restrict-binge cycle. Helpful tips on handling the holidays that have nothing to do with keeping your weight down or restricting delicious holiday foods. Michelle is passionate about supporting women who wish to feel good in their bodies and practice more health-promoting behaviors without dieting or restrictive eating. Since midlife is such a major life transition for women, she helps them to navigate this phase with more ease and confidence so they can renew their purpose and identity apart from their changing bodies. Michelle lives in upstate NY with her family and she provides virtual coaching, online learning, and group coaching.
