On April 18, 2025, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian denied Sean "Diddy" Combs' request to delay his upcoming sex trafficking and racketeering trial, which is scheduled to begin on May 5 in Manhattan. Combs' legal team had sought a two-month postponement, citing the need for additional time to prepare due to new charges and evidence introduced in a recent superseding indictment. However, Judge Subramanian rejected the request, stating that the defense, which includes multiple attorneys, has sufficient time to prepare and that the court would not permit a "fishing expedition" for more evidence.During the same hearing, Judge Subramanian made several other rulings affecting the trial proceedings. He allowed three alleged victims to testify under pseudonyms to protect their identities, while noting that Cassie Ventura, Combs' former girlfriend and a key accuser, will testify under her real name. The judge also denied the defense's motion to dismiss certain charges and ruled that outtakes from the documentary "The Fall of Diddy" are admissible as evidence. Combs, who has been held without bail since his arrest in September 2024, has pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering conspiracy. In April 2025, Cassie Ventura, identified as "Victim-1" in Sean "Diddy" Combs' upcoming federal trial, filed a motion to quash a subpoena issued by Combs' legal team. The subpoena demanded access to all drafts of her memoir, personal diaries, journals, notes, and ten months of her bank statements from 2023. Ventura's attorney, Douglas Wigdor, argued that the subpoena was overly broad and lacked specificity, asserting that Combs' team failed to demonstrate the admissibility or relevance of the requested materials. Wigdor emphasized that the defense did not specify what information they expected to find in these documents, making the request an unjustified intrusion into Ventura's private life. to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Sean "Diddy" Combs back in court as judge denies bid to delay trial by two months - CBS New York

Content warning: sexual abuse, sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse, statutory rape, human trafficking, sex trafficking, and suicide. Lisa Phillips is a model, actress, survivor, and victim advocate who has spent much of her life all over the world. While cultivating a career in the modeling and acting industries, Lisa even found herself overseas and as a guest on Jeffrey Epstein's private island. That specific trip would become quite traumatic for Lisa, and although she would never return to the property again, she would soon be trafficked into a vast and widespread ring that enabled mass sexual assault. However, it wouldn't be until after navigating the legal system and sharing her story with other survivors of the same serial abuser, that Lisa truly was confronted by the depth of her trauma. The Broken Cycle Media team is so grateful Lisa was willing to share all that came next for her in her healing process, and in creating her beautiful podcast community entitled From Now On. Trump Has His Biggest Meltdown Ever As He Chickened Out Of Testifying At Trial

Farron Balanced Daily

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 12, 2023 21:41

Donald Trump appeared to suffer the biggest meltdown that he has ever had when he made the all-caps announcement on Sunday evening that he would NOT be testifying in the fraud trial Monday (yesterday.) Trump claimed that he already had his "Perry Mason moment," and that there was no need to go back, especially since the gag order was still in place (which makes no sense.) Trump is losing his mind, and that could put a lot of people in danger. And disgraced former Republican Representative George Santos admitted during an interview with CBS New York that he is afraid of going to jail - he says that it is not a nice place and everyone should be afraid of it - and then admitted that he'd "happily" take a plea deal that involves anything other than jail. The likelihood of that happening is close to zero, as he even admits that he has nothing to offer prosecutors in return for a deal. Also, in a bit of an unusual move, special prosecutor Jack Smith submitted a filing to the court on Saturday evening that contained even more damning evidence against Donald Trump. Based on the filing, the new evidence suggests that there was "unanimous consent" among ALL of Trump's intelligence officials that there was no widespread evidence of fraud in the 2020 election. This massively undermines all of Trump's claims, and could ruin his potential defense. Finally, during a speech at the New York Young Republican Club this past weekend, Donald Trump doubled down on his promise to be a dictator "for one day" if he gets reelected. The crowd erupted in wild cheers that led into a chant of "build the wall," which just shows that these people have no problem with giving up the US Constitution to make Trump a God-King of this country. Farron talks about the terrifying statement and the even more horrifying reaction from the crowd.

It's Monday, October 30th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Israel's attack on Gaza commences Israel has deployed ground troops and tanks in Gaza after bombarding 150 “underground targets” said to harbor Hamas Muslim terrorists across the north of the region. More vehicles and thousands of troops are gathering in Israeli border towns, reports The Daily Mail. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said: “The operation in Gaza is to continue until there is a new order.” Israel is beginning to allow humanitarian aid to access southern Gaza while bombarding the north, amid claims it had killed two 'spearhead' Hamas commanders,  including an architect of the October 7th attacks that killed 1,400 Israelis. Hind al-Khudary, a journalist in central Gaza and one of a few people with cell phone service, said, “The bombs were everywhere, the building was shaking.” Turkey threatens war with Israel On Saturday, Turkish president Recep Erdoğan threatened war with Israel in a speech at a pro-Palestine rally, reports The Express. And when he said that it could "come at any night unexpectedly" his comment was met with ecstatic reception from hundreds of thousands of attendees. The crowd responded with the chant: “Turkish military to Gaza.” Listen. (audio of Erdoğan and crowd's chant) Erdoğan told attendees that Israel was responsible for war crimes, and framed Hamas, the Muslim terrorist group, as "freedom fighters.” Mike Pence drops out of presidential race In an appearance on Saturday at the Republican Jewish Coalition's annual gathering in Las Vegas, former Vice President Mike Pence dropped a bombshell, reports the Associated Press. PENCE: “Last June, I announced my intention to seek the Republican nomination for president of the United States because I believe this country is in a lot of trouble. I was raised to believe that to whom much is given, much will be required. And with everything our country is facing, I just couldn't sit this one out. “But the Bible tells us that there's a time for every purpose under Heaven. And traveling across the country over the past six months, I came here to say it's become clear to me, this is not my time. So, after much prayer and deliberation, I have decided to suspend my campaign for president effective today. (crowd groans) “Now, I'm leaving this campaign, but let me promise you: I will never leave the fight for conservative values and I will never stop fighting to elect principled, Republican leaders to every office in the land. So help me God!” (applause and cheering) Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." Pence had struggled to raise money and gain traction in the polls. PENCE: “And finally, we thank God for His amazing grace. It gave us the courage to step forward so many years ago, and the wisdom to step aside.  My fellow Republicans, thank you for your kindness, your support, and your prayers over these many years. (applause) As we go home to Indiana, let me assure you that we leave here with optimism and faith. “We don't know what the future holds, but we know Who holds the future. And with faith in Him, and boundless confidence in all of you, we know the best days for America, and our most cherished ally, Israel, are yet to come. Thank you. God bless you.” Maine shooter committed suicide Almost 48 hours after a mass shooting broke Lewiston, Maine, forcing it into lockdown, the trail took police to a recycling center in Lisbon, reports the New York Post. Robert Card, the 40-year-old Army reservist, who killed 18 people at a bowling alley and a bar, was found dead of a self-inflicted wound in an empty, locked trailer. On Friday night, at 10:45pm, three hours after his body was discovered, Maine Democrat Governor Janet Mills made the announcement. MILLS: “I stand here tonight to simply report that the Maine State Police have located the body of Robert Card in Lisbon. He is dead. I've called President Biden to inform him about this news. I've informed Senator [Angus] King, Senator [Susan] Collins. This discovery is entirely thanks to the hundreds of local, county, state, and federal law enforcement members from all over, people who searched tirelessly to arrive at this moment.” Card had worked at the business until late last spring, when he left voluntarily. The business' main property had been checked and cleared twice by local police, but officers did not learn until later in the search that there was an overflow parking lot across the street. As for why Card chose his targets, Public Safety Commissioner Michael Sauschuck said it was likely due to paranoia, that “people were talking about him and there may even have been some voices at play,” reports Spectrum Local News. Last summer, Card underwent a mental health evaluation after he began acting erratically during Army training. A bulletin sent to police across the country shortly after the attack said Card had been committed to a mental health facility for two weeks after “hearing voices and threats to shoot up” a military base. The Lewiston shootings were the 36th mass killing in the United States this year.  Jewish college students trapped in NY library by pro-Palestinian protestors And finally, the Israeli-Hamas War is spilling over into America. On Thursday, a group of Jewish students took shelter in a library at Cooper Union in New York City as a group of pro-Palestinian demonstrators loudly chanted “free Palestine” outside, reports CBS New York. The school officials closed the library's doors for 20 minutes at 4:00pm to protect the Jewish students. Taylor Lent, a Cooper Union Jewish sophomore, said this. LENT: “The librarians ran over to us and they were, like, ‘We tried to warn you, but we just got notice that they're coming down.'” Another concerned female Jewish student spoke to CBS New York. STUDENT: “It was tense. People were nervous. They were specifically acting very aggressive in those spaces where outwardly Jewish students were sitting.” And a Jewish male student, who was wearing a yarmulke, expressed his concern. MALE STUDENT: “I genuinely don't know what would've happened if the doors were left open.” The pro-Palestinian demonstrators — many of whom were carrying Palestinian flags and signs which said “Zionism Hands Off Our Universities” were initially headed to the office of the Cooper Union President, reports the New York Post. Introducing Salvatore M. Buscemi Salvatore M. Buscemi is the CEO and co-founder of Dandrew Partners - a private family investment office that has managed money successfully for almost 20 years by creating multiple portfolios on various cross-asset platforms. Sal is a frequent speaker and guest lecturer on real estate finance at professional symposia. He has written numerous books and articles on real estate and private equity finance in various publications, including Investor's Business Daily and Forbes, and on television shows such as CBS New York and Good Morning LaLa Land. What You Will Learn Ways VC Firms Can Improve Their Portfolio Company's Brand Awareness What to Expect From Silicon Valley Bank's Abrupt Closure How the .001% of People Invest  Breakdown [00:47] Getting to Know Salvatore Buscemi [03:35] Common Mistakes by PE Firms and Their Portfolio Companies [06:25] How to Use Media to Bring Awareness to Your Portfolio Companies [07:42] Only Investing in Companies with Strong Founders [11:30] Recent Successes in Sal's Portfolio [13:30] How to Top .001% Invest [16:30] The Herd Mentality in Silicon Valley [20:46] Why Not All Ideas Get Funded [22:40] Venture Capital in a High-Interest Rate Environment [25:33] VC Firms Focusing More on Quality Companies [28:14] What More Expensive Debt Means For VC Companies [30:40] Advice on How to Make Better Quality Investments [34:54] Things Sal Likes and Dislikes About Private Equity[36:24] Pari's Go-To Self-Improvement Resources [37:25] Parting Thoughts  How the .001% Invest The .001% of people invest differently than the middle class. Anyone making $150,000 a year is in the 1%. Even though they essentially make a lot of money, they typically don't invest like the super wealthy. Why? Because they have a lot of debt, they are wage earners - so they can be fired at a moment's notice. Plus, they look at investing as a way to grow wealth in a short period of time. So, essentially their investment mandate is to get rich quick. In contrast, the top .001% focus on capital preservation and increasing status. You won't find them buying the latest Gucci shoes, but you will find them discussing how to buy a sports team or leave a permanent mark in the world.  Why You Need to Build Better Networks  The people who have the worst investments have the worst networks. If all the people in your network are concentrated in one specific niche, that's a problem. According to Salva, you need to spend a disproportionate amount of time networking. This is the only way you can guarantee a healthy deal flow. Building a strong network of people can lead to new opportunities you may not have had access to otherwise. Your network can connect you with potential clients, employers, and other professionals who can help you grow your business or advance your career.  Whether you're looking for new opportunities, support, different perspectives, learning opportunities, or collaborations, you need a strong network of people. So take the time to invest in networking, meeting new people, attending conferences, and building meaningful relationships with the people in and out of your area of expertise. How to Contact Sal Salvatore's LinkedIn  ,Investinglegacy.com ,Investing Legacy: How the .001% Invest by Salvatore Buscemi

This week, Drewby and Yergy discuss the case of Zymere Perkins, a 6 year old boy living in Harlem who lost his life at the hands of his mother's boyfriend. Zymere was deprived of food and sleep, thrust into icy showers, and relentlessly beaten with belts and sticks by his mother and her boyfriend. Like in many cases that we cover, child services were notified of the abuse taking place in the home multiple times, but no action was taken to ensure little Zymere's safety. What The FTX Collapse Does & Does Not Mean For Crypto Philanthropy & Effective Altruism  Crypto-exchange FTX, one of the largest such exchanges, collapsed last week, leaving the cryptocurrency world in disbelief as stakeholders try to piece together what happened and what comes next. The company's founder Sam Bankman-Fried (known by the moniker SBF) was a visible proponent and donor to the effective altruism movement, as well as someone who built a personal brand as a prominent crypto-philanthropist. As noted by The New York Times, SBF was perhaps one of the most visible supporters of Effective Altruism, a community underpinned by a utilitarian approach to giving where donors focus on giving only to the most impact-efficient charitable causes. Created by Oxford philosopher William MacAskill, the Effective Altruism movement faces serious reputational trust issues as supporters worry it was a cover for the reckless FTX founder. It was also revealed by The New York Times that the two largest FTX Foundation grants went to nonprofits where MacAskill was on the board or directly supported the work of Effective Altruism. Bankman-Fried, who has also spoken frequently of his crypto giving, may have abused the crypto-philanthropy space to shield himself from questioning, but nonprofits should still understand that 38% of millennials own crypto and represent a major (and growing) potential source of donation revenue. Sharks biting people Long Island #Sharkattacks #LongIsland #Sharks # DronePatrols #SharkWeekFive shark attacks have been reported in the past two weeks off Long Island, N.Y., including two within hours Wednesday, a dramatic increase in shark encounters that officials there said may represent a “new normal.” Four of the reported attacks took place on Fire Island in Suffolk County, including two at the popular Smith Point Beach and two near the village of Ocean Beach. The fifth was reported on Jones Beach Island in neighboring Nassau County. None of the victims were seriously injured, and the sharks sighted were estimated to be four to five feet in length, officials said. Shark sightings have been increasing off U.S. coasts, which scientists attribute to successful conservation efforts that have restored populations closer to historical levels. Still, the recent spate of attacks was highly unusual — there were only 47 confirmed unprovoked attacks nationwide in 2021, according to the Florida Museum of Natural History's International Shark Attack File. “This is not something that is precedented in any way in our history here in Suffolk County,” Suffolk County Executive Steven Bellone said at a news conference Thursday. “Prior to July 3, we had not had a recorded shark bite at [Smith Point Beach] since it had opened, during beach hours, back in 1959.” Bellone said the county is deploying drones and increased lifeguard patrols to monitor the waters, acknowledging that the uptick may represent the “new normal.” “The idea of more frequent contact with these kind of sharks may be what we will be coming to expect,” Bellone said at a separate news conference Wednesday, ahead of the fifth attack. The first of the recent attacks took place June 30, when a 57-year-old man swimming at Jones Beach suffered a laceration on his right foot that paramedics identified as a “possible shark bite,” according to the Nassau County Police Department. Three days later, Zach Gallo, 33, a lifeguard at Smith Point Beach, was playing the role of a victim in a rescue training exercise when he became one himself, WABC reported. He felt a roughly four-foot shark whip him with its tail and then bite his hand, according to the station. “I felt pressure in my hand, pulled it back and I just started hammering, punching and I connected with the shark three times, and then on the third time it spun away,” Gallo told WABC. “I guess my adrenaline, survival instincts kicked in.” Gallo returned to work Thursday, saying at the news conference with Bellone that he was grateful his injuries were minor and that his fellow lifeguards came to his aid. “If you do go in the ocean, make sure you are going into an area that's protected by lifeguards,” Gallo said. On July 7, first-year lifeguard John Mullins, 17, was bitten on his foot while also playing the role of a victim during a training exercise near Ocean Beach, according to CBS New York. “The teeth were inside my skin and when I pulled my foot out, it kind of just felt like a scrape, like a rake going up my foot,” Mullins told the station. “We never expect to be attacked while we're training, but they handled it well.” Mullins received five stitches and was out of work while his foot healed, CBS New York reported. On Wednesday morning, a surfer was bitten by a roughly four-foot tiger shark, leaving a four-inch gash, according to Bellone. The man was knocked off his board and saw the shark circling back toward him, but a wave carried him into shore, Bellone said. Roughly 11 hours later, police were called to Seaview Beach after a 49-year-old Arizona man standing in “waist deep water” was bitten from behind on his left wrist and buttocks, according to Suffolk County police. He walked out of the water and was taken by helicopter to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

The awareness of the toxins in our food, cleaning products, clothes, household items, and beauty products is growing, and let me first say thank goodness to the experts who are bringing these conversations to the table. But, if you're a busy mom like me, we take all of this information and immediately get overwhelmed with not knowing where to start. I tend to take information like this, combine it with my mama bear love and protective instincts for my family, and go into overhaul mode, throwing everything out in sheer panic, which exhausts me and causes burnout. Fear-driven action at its finest! Does anyone else do the same? Well, I'm here to tell you, there IS hope and a MUCH better way.Drum roll, please! I bring you, Tonya Harris! Tonya is an award-winning environmental toxin expert and founder of Slightly Greener. She “offers busy women simple tips to reduce toxins without turning their family's lifestyle upside-down.” Sign me up for THAT! Tonya has been featured in multiple online and print publications such as Parents, Reader's Digest, MindBodyGreen, Insider, and Martha Stewart Living. Most recently, she was featured in Better Homes and Gardens Magazine with a beautiful article titled, “The Nose Knows.” She has also appeared on TV shows across the country, such as Great Day Washington, CBS New York, CBS Los Angeles, and The Dr. Oz Show, for her expertise in environmental toxins, holistic nutrition, and how toxins affect children. Tonya's book, The Slightly Greener Method: Detoxifying Your Home is Faster, Easier, & Less Expensive Than You Think, is a must-have resource for mamas who want to clean up their environment without the stress, fear, frustration, and overwhelm that comes from an often seemingly daunting task.Tonya and I had a beautiful conversation discussing how she came to develop this method, where she gained her knowledge, and ways she has approached living greener incorrectly in the past. She gives us starting points, debunks my incorrect theories, and helps us take the first step forward in the right direction without fear. You'll want to grab a pen and paper for this one, ladies. For more information and an incredible resource to have on hand, I highly recommend Tonya's book, which can be found anywhere books are sold. Products Mentioned:Bissell Steamshot CleanerForce of Nature Multi-purpose Cleaner, Disinfectant, and DeodorizerFollow Tonya  Website - www.slightlygreener.comIG - @slightlygreenerFB - facebook.com/SlightlyGreenerHAVE A HARD TIME STICKING TO THOSE HEALTHY HABITS?I've put together a FREE, easy-to-use, customizable tool for you to get back on track (or stay on track).Click the link below to get your free habit tracker today: FREE Habit Tracker------------Join the Mom: In-Process Community:Facebook InstagramWebsite Don't forget to check out the latest swag! Get your Mom: In-Process merch today https://www.mominprocess.com/shop
