His new memoir, “Walk Like a Girl,” is a tribute to the women who made him the fashion designer he is today, from Anna Wintour, who championed his work, to longtime clients like Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Kamala Harris and Kate Middleton.

Ali Mejia is the visionary and cofounder of elevated sleepwear brand Eberjey. Although she'd always had a soft spot for pajamas (getting ready for bed was a self-care ritual in her home growing up), Mejia began her career on Wall Street. After graduating from Princeton, she followed many of her peers to New York City and got a job as a financial analyst. When her bank unexpectedly closed, she was laid off and left to confront the nagging feeling that she should be exploring her creativity. She used her severance package to fund a trip to Florence, Italy, and being immersed in the arts and culture inspired her to make a change in her career. Upon returning home, she took one more short-lived finance job and then landed a fashion internship at Cynthia Rowley that energized her. She moved back home to Miami and took a direct marketing job to pay the bills while quietly working with a local patternmaker and learning how to design sleepwear. Once she had designed a few prototypes, she told her coworker at the direct marketing company about her business idea. This coworker, Mariela Rovito, became Mejia's cofounder in Eberjey. In 1996, they left their day jobs, put $10,000 each into this new venture, and set off on a brand-building journey with no business plan. Today, almost three decades later, Eberjey remains a leading international sleepwear brand with five brick-and-mortar shops and products sold in over 500 retailers, from Neiman Marcus to Nordstrom.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Fashion Crimes Podcast

Fashion besties-it's Friyyaayy!  This week, Holly dives headfirst into the hottest Spring 2025 trends you need to know. Whether you're a trend enthusiast or just trying to stay relevant, this episode is packed with style tips, insider knowledge, and plenty of laughs.   It's your RIGHT to look fabulous for the upcoming season!   LISTEN NOW!  And follow along on this week's Pinterest Board!   What You'll Learn in This Episode:    1. Slim Sneakers & Sporty Chic: Sneakers continue their reign, but this year it's all about slim silhouettes. Think lightweight styles like Pumas, Adidas, and boxing-inspired high-tops. Pair them with flowy skirts or romantic dresses for a modern twist. Sporty chic also takes center stage with bold motorsport-inspired graphics, silk anoraks, and track jackets. Sporty Spics is BACK.   Don't forget to keep an eye on collections from LVMH brands influenced by the Paris Olympics for high-fashion takes on this trend. Professional athletes are also in the fashion hot seat as brands are turning to them for strong brand influence.   2. Animal Prints & Stripes: (never gets old) Animal prints, including zebra, tiger, and snake patterns, are timeless yet reinvigorated for Spring 2025. Any of these prints as an accessory, such as a leopard-print shoe or scarf can instantly elevate your outfit and take it to the next level. Stripes are equally versatile, with bold options layered in contrasting widths and colors. Days of the boring horizontal striped t-shirt have new life again with this trend. Try layering different types of stripes for an unexpected play-on pattern. Designers like Proenza Schouler and Dior showcase this preppy-meets-edgy vibe beautifully.   3. Plaid and Preppy: Plaid remains a key player in the preppy fashion resurgence, but Holly's rule is clear: less is more. Opt for plaid as an accent rather than the focal point—think flowy skirts, tailored layers, or abstract plaid dresses as seen in Ralph Lauren's recent runway show.   Pair plaid with skirts, jackets, loafers, or oxford shoes to nail the preppy look. Men's neckties on women are making a huge comeback as well. When in doubt, try a plaid bag or scarf to add some color to your look. Think of it as a neutral that can go with anything.    4. Fringe & Ruffles: Fringe isn't just for country looks anymore. From leather jackets to car-wash-inspired fringe dresses (like Holly's burgundy stunner from Toccin), this trend adds drama to any outfit. Ruffles are another standout, seen in Zimmerman and Cynthia Rowley collections.   Be mindful of fit—ruffles can either highlight or overwhelm, depending on placement. For a twist, try an asymmetrical version- this usually compliments the body to draw your eye down to create a longer, leaner look.   5. The Jeans Conundrum: Baggy jeans, dad jeans, and slim-straight styles are all the rage, with brands like Proenza Schouler and Pistola Jeans leading the charge. Acid washes, barrel silhouettes, and wide-leg fits offer plenty of options for every aesthetic. Let us help you navigate the confusion and choose the perfect pair for your shape and style.   6. Bubble Silhouettes: This playful, voluminous shape makes a comeback in both sophisticated and casual designs. From Jonathan Simkhai's elegant bubble dresses to Reformation's more accessible bubble miniskirts, this trend is back from OVER 30 years ago and is super popular right now.   7. Accessories Galore: Welcome to the era of "excessive accessorization"! Glamour Magazine's term for this trend encapsulates stacked necklaces, statement earrings (check out brands like Lelet NY), and bold scarves. Bags also get a refresh—think oversized totes, sleek daytime bags, and timeless clutches.   Hot Tip: Remember, accessories are the key to taking your outfit to the next level.   Whether you're a minimalist looking for key pieces or a maximalist ready to go all out, Holly has all the styling tips and tricks to make these trends work for you.   Follow Holly on Social Media: • Instagram: @HollyKatzStyling • Podcast IG: @FashionCrimesPodcast • Pinterest: Holly Katz Styling • LinkedIn: Holly Katz Style • YouTube: Fashion Crimes Podcast   Your Spring Style Starts Here: We hope you are as inspired by these trends as we are.  Don't be afraid to mix and match pieces and take a risk with your personal style! Beth Hutchens of FoundRae has been an entrepreneur her entire adult life. The ritual of collection and the importance of quality seen in the fine jewelry and home décor brand was what she grew up with in her Quaker home, rich with stories and heritage that Beth says “feels alive and present” in her everyday life today. It all started when she and her Cynthia Rowley friend and co-worker, Rebecca Taylor, began making clothes. Rebecca wanted to start her own line, and Beth wanted to create clothes to wear out on the town in New York City's nightclub scene. It was in 1996 when the pair were propelled to join forces to co-found what would become the wildly popular contemporary collection, Rebecca Taylor, where Beth was CEO until she followed a whisper to return more closely to her creative roots. The FoundRae collection was born in 2015, and has gone on to win CFDA and GEM awards, and develop a loyal fan and customer following, due in part to its incredibly distinct, stand-out brand identity in a sea of many, and its covet-worthy pieces that beg to be collected and layered. On episode 105, Beth shares her family's fascinating artistic story and how it's influenced her as a maker. We discuss her creative life in New York before taking the plunge into entrepreneurship and business, helping to establish the Rebecca Taylor brand and build the FoundRae brand. She shares what she's learned about working with creatives, how to hire, how to be best at branding, the details of her own creative process, the art of collaging, how she thinks about design, and the marked differences between the fashion and jewelry industries. We talk about FoundRae's one-of-a-kind flagship store and store experience, and the brand's customer. We discuss the impact that attention to detail can create, copycatting and intellectual property, being a jack of trades and more. Shop the podcast:FoundRae.com Synchronicity by Carl Jung

Now, I have to say, I was charmed by the rapport between them. It was quite lovely. And I got caught up in their down to earth dynamic, which admittedly, was not what I expected. You see, Cynthia Raleigh has been a staple in the fashion world for decades. And Kit has been in the public eye since she was a kid growing up in the gleaming lights of New York City. So if we were to go by the articles and the gossip columns, it almost appears one dimensional. But there is nothing one dimensional about this mother and daughter duo whose love for one another and drive to grow is awe inspiring.

The ongoing pandemic has given us all the opportunity to examine what really matters most to us and what brings us true contentment. Each week through candid conversations with friends, thought leaders, creators, and entrepreneurs, Bobbi and Anjali are looking for ...www.iheart.comBOBBI BROWN BIOEven as a young girl, Bobbi Brown was enthralled by makeup. "I remember watching my mother apply her white eye shadow and black liner in her blue gilded bathroom--she was glamorous, but fresh-looking." And as soon as she was able to work, Bobbi raced to the small cosmetics store in town, where she got her first taste of formal training.Bobbi's education continued at Boston's Emerson College, where she earned a B.F.A. in theatrical makeup. Upon graduation, she moved to New York City to make it as a professional makeup artist. She showed her ever-growing portfolio to anyone who would look at it, slowly built up contacts and experienced the challenges typical of most freelance makeup artists trying to make it in Manhattan. But despite the ups and downs, her talent and drive earned her coveted gigs with top magazines, photographers and models. Bobbi began her collaboration with photographers Bruce Weber and Arthur Elgort for American Vogue, as well as with the late Francesco Scavullo for Cosmopolitan and Self. A seven-page spread of full-face beauty shots of supermodel Tatiana Patitz--shot by Wayne Maser--also put Bobbi's work front and center.Bobbi's big breakthrough was her first American Vogue cover. The image was shot by famed photographer Patrick Demarchelier and featured the soon-to-be-supermodel Naomi Campbell, made up by Bobbi Brown. Seven years after arriving to New York City knowing no one, Bobbi was part of the club. The industry took notice. As a successful makeup artist with access to everything in the market, Bobbi found nearly all products looked too artificial, making it impossible to create a gorgeous, no-makeup look.Ten years into her freelance career, a chance meeting with a chemist at a magazine photo shoot changed everything. "I had the idea to create a lipstick that didn't smell, wasn't dry or greasy and looked like lips, only better--and I told the chemist about it," she says. The chemist made the lipstick following Bobbi's unprecedented specifications and the result was Brown Lip Color, a pinky-brown shade. Nine other brown-based lipstick shades followed soon after, and Bobbi's set of lipsticks was complete. In 1991, her 10 lipsticks debuted at the Bergdorf Goodman under the name of Bobbi Brown essentials. Bobbi was expecting to sell 100 in a month. She sold 100 within the first day.The message was clear: women wanted makeup that was simple, flattering and wearable. Word spread quickly. Bobbi's unique approach to cosmetics was a long-awaited gift for women who wanted a more natural look. The magazine industry's most prominent beauty editors got behind Bobbi, and her small, insider brand garnered big time buzz. The range expanded beyond lipstick. Bobbi's foundations were yellow-based, not pink, revolutionizing face makeup as it's known today. And, before long, she showed that she was as adept at neutrals as she was at bright and bold colors. This sea change in the beauty market caught the attention of cosmetics empire Estee Lauder, who bought Bobbi Brown Cosmetics in 1995, just four years after the company's inception. Today, Bobbi Brown retains creative control of the brand. In addition to running her company, Bobbi continues to pursue her craft by creating the runway looks for New York Fashion Week. A permanent fixture backstage, she works with the industry's best designers including Rachel Roy, J. Mendel, Erin Fetherston, Tory Burch and Cynthia Rowley.Bobbi often does how-to segments on The Today Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show, and her advice can be found in syndicated columns and advice features for magazines and websites around the globe.Of course, you can always find Bobbi where she began--on the set. Bobbi is still the world's most celebrated makeup artists for personalities and fashion magazines.A New York Times best-selling author, Bobbi has written several instructional and engaging beauty and lifestyle books, including: Bobbi Brown Beauty, Bobbi Brown Teenage Beauty, Bobbi Brown Beauty Evolution, Bobbi Brown Living Beauty and Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual. For Bobbi, making other people's lives better simply makes sense.
