In the June All In For Citrus podcast, Michael Rogers gives an update on some of the activities keeping University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) researchers busy this summer. Rogers is the director of the UF/IFAS Citrus Research and Education Center in Lake Alfred. One of their big projects is helping to coordinate the citrus seminars for the upcoming Citrus & Specialty Crop Expo on Aug. 20–21 at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa. Rogers provides a sneak peek of the citrus presentations, which number more than 20. While the Expo program will focus on HLB management, additional topics will be addressed. This includes other diseases and pests, crop insurance considerations and more. The citrus seminars will provide growers with the latest knowledge on how to optimize trunk injection of oxytetracycline (OTC). New research on OTC applications and degradation and how different varieties respond to treatments will be shared. There will also be a presentation on advancements in automated trunk injection. Lukasz Stelinski, UF/IFAS professor of entomology and nematology, joins the podcast to give growers useful reminders on Asian citrus psyllid (ACP) management. He stresses the importance of new flush in timing insecticide applications targeting the ACP. Stelinski also emphasizes the importance of dormant sprays during the winter to really push the pest's population down. On the disease front, Megan Dewdney, UF/IFAS associate professor of plant pathology, speaks in the podcast about some key disease concerns this time of year, including phytophthora brown rot, algal spot and canker. She adds that melanose could be more problematic than normal due to recent weather patterns of heavier rainfall.

We may have witnessed the worst Paul Skenes of his career as the Brewers beat him up early en route to a 4-0 lead. The Pirates added a run, but it clearly looked like Skenes was off his game. The Pirates didn't do him many favors in the field, but the best stuff was not there. Today was another look at why the Pirates aren't very close to the Brewers. Why can't they be like the teams in Milwaukee, Cleveland or Tampa? ALL ACCESS w/ Aditi – Aditi reacted to the Aaron Rodgers comments. She loves the way he is excited about mentoring Will Howard since this will ‘probably' be his final season. She said the comments can only bode well for Steelers fans. Aditi reiterated that she has never heard a bad thing about Rodgers' locker room presence. Aditi think it's the best combination of offensive talent they've had for quite some time. Donny Football Debrief – Is there a movie based on the Immaculate Reception in the works?

Tampa Bay has a world renowned arts scene. Chances are you've caught an exhibition at the Dali museum in St. Petersburg- or taken in some of the dazzling, larger than life art at the SHINE mural festival. But did you know Tampa is also the birthplace of death metal? On this episode you'll hear from WUSF reporters who've been spotlighting the arts and culture of Tampa Bay. If you feel like there's something missing from your morning routine, Lily Belcher has a story about a cafe where you can watch kittens rough and tumble as you sip your cappuccino.Walk around the streets of St. Petersburg- and you'll see murals- lots of them. Visit St. Pete Clearwater says more than 600 adorn walls throughout the city. A new gallery exhibition mashes up murals with another icon of the city's arts scene: the museum devoted to surrealist artist Salvador Dali. Sue Giles Wantuck shares details about the ‘Outside In' exhibit, and why mural artists are happy to pour hours and hours into creating enormous, complex works of art, even when they know their art won't last forever. And Daylina Miller breaks down Tampa's unique connection with extreme metal. They explain why the original site of Morrisound Recording was honored with a historic marker, and why metalheads right here in theplace it all began are some of the nicest people you'll meet, even if the music's a bit aggressive.

In late August 1979, the FBI's Brooklyn-Queens Metropolitan Resident Agency (the BQ) received a significant tip from a top-echelon informant within the Genovese crime family. This informant, known as "Bob," reported that Paul Castellano, head of the Gambino crime family, had mentioned an upcoming major meeting at Gurney's Inn in Montauk, New York. The anticipated attendees included prominent figures such as Frank "Funzi" Tieri of the Genovese family, Carmine "The Snake" Persico of the Colombo family, and Tampa's organized crime leader, Santo Trafficante Jr. Recognizing the potential significance of this gathering—the most consequential since the 1957 Apalachin summit—the FBI swiftly mobilized. Agents, including undercover operatives, were dispatched to Gurney's Inn, posing as tourists to monitor arrivals and activities. Specialized personnel were prepared to install surveillance equipment to capture conversations during the meeting. Despite the extensive preparations, the anticipated meeting never occurred. The reasons remain uncertain; possibilities include the informant providing inaccurate information, the mobsters altering their plans, or suspicions about increased surveillance leading to a change in venue. This outcome was reminiscent of the 1957 Apalachin meeting, where law enforcement's unexpected presence led to the mobsters' dispersal. While the immediate operation at Gurney's Inn did not yield the expected results, it underscored the FBI's evolving strategies in combating organized crime. The bureau's readiness to deploy advanced surveillance techniques and coordinate large-scale operations marked a shift towards more proactive and sophisticated approaches. This evolution contributed to significant successes in subsequent years, including the Mafia Commission Trial of 1986 and the conviction of John Gotti in 1992. This episode about the FBI's almost-successful attempt to bug a major mob meeting at Gurney's Inn illustrates the challenges law enforcement faced in infiltrating organized crime and highlights the pivotal role such operations played in modernizing the FBI's methodologies. Joining us in this episode, we have: Daniel Edward Rosen, a staff reporter from the New York Sun, whose work has appeared in Esquire, the New York Observer, City Journal, New York Magazine, and the New York Times. See his original article: https://www.nysun.com/article/how-the-fbis-mad-dash-to-wiretap-the-mob-at-a-montauk-hotel-nearly-50-years-ago-helped-modernize-todays-agencyFrank DiMatteo joins us to provide color commentary based upon his experiences growing up embedded in one of the most infamous mob crews in the history of the American Cosa Nostra. Frank is the son of Ricky DiMatteo, a member of the legendary Gallo Crew of the Colombo Crime Family in New York City. He is also an author of several books in his own right including Growing Up Mafia, Mafia Hit Man, Lord High Executioner, The Cigar, Carmine the Snake, Red Hook, as well as the publisher of Mob Candy.

Munaf Manji and Griffin Warner break down MLB Tuesday. Best bets as always. The June MLB betting preview episode from RJ Bell's Dream Podcast, hosted by Munaf Manji and Griffin Warner, covers 13 games with available lines, diving into team form, pitching matchups, and betting leans. Missing initially were lines for Dodgers-Rockies and Rangers-Orioles, though the latter appeared late in the episode. They open noting Munaf's bounce-back 5–1 week and Griffin chasing closely behind in season-long picks. The first matchup—Blue Jays vs. Guardians—features even odds. Griffin sees value in whoever becomes the underdog. Munaf highlights Logan Allen's stark ERA split: 6.18 in day games, 2.79 at night. The A's-Tigers game sees Tigers favored at -275. Griffin critiques the price despite Skubal's Cy Young form. Munaf adds that Tigers are 20–5 straight up in series openers and 11–1 at home. Yankees vs. Reds features rookie Chase Burns in his debut against Carlos Rodon. Griffin notes the Yankees are built better for the park, while Munaf explains Rodon's recent regression—12 ER in June compared to 5 in May. Braves-Mets has Strider returning, though Griffin questions his sharpness. Munaf notes Monteas' poor historical outings vs. the Braves and leans Strider, citing a recent quality start against the Mets. In D-backs vs. White Sox, Ryan Nelson's 1.87 ERA at night vs. 10.95 in the day impresses Munaf, while Griffin mocks the Sox as a “Double-A team.” For Pirates-Brewers, Peralta is dominant at home (6–1 SU), prompting a team total under lean from Munaf. Griffin applauds Milwaukee's base-stealing and efficiency. Mariners-Twins rematch Castillo vs. Paddack: both had elite starts earlier this month. Munaf likes the under (8.5), while Griffin again hails Cal Raleigh's ("Big Dumper") surge. Rays-Royals sees Griffin supporting Bubich, especially given Tampa's recent inconsistency. Munaf notes Taj Bradley's 13 ER in two starts. Cubs-Cardinals analysis finds Griffin liking STL as a home dog, with Munaf highlighting McGreevy's sub-1.00 WHIP and 2–1 team record in his starts. In Phillies-Astros, both agree Suarez and Valdez are elite. Munaf reveals Valdez's 6–1 under trend at home, while Suarez is 3–0–1 to the under on the road. Under 7.5 is Munaf's best bet. Red Sox vs. Angels pits Crochet's 2.20 ERA and 125 Ks against inconsistent Tyler Anderson. Griffin leans Angels as a value play; Munaf backs Boston's run line. Nationals-Padres gets light treatment—Williams has a 5.54 ERA and Padres are favored. Munaf suggests SD's first-five team total over. Giants-Marlins rounds out the card with Verlander's return. Griffin hesitates to back either starter but leans under unless conditions are hot. Munaf prefers the Giants, questioning Miami's bullpen. A late line appears for Rangers-Orioles. Griffin picks Baltimore ML (-130) as his best bet, citing Charlie Morton's improved form and Texas' offensive struggles. Munaf agrees, referencing Morton's 6 IP, 2 ER outing vs. TEX last year. The episode concludes with Griffin plugging a promo code (RBI20) for discounted betting picks access and teasing more comedic yet informative breakdowns through summer. Lewis is the Belief System (B.S.) Boss® and Founder of the Belief System (B.S.) Boss® Institute. Through her transformative Belief System training, she empowers individuals to successfully reengineer their belief systems to transform life's obstacles into possibilities. As an ordained clergy member, award-winning author, TEDx speaker, senior manager, and certified John Maxwell Team Coach, Teacher, Speaker, and Trainer, she brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her practice, inspiring personal and professional growth in her clients. She formerly served as the Chief Budget and Financial Management Officer at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO) for both the Aircraft Operations Center (AOC) in Lakeland, Florida and the Commissioned Personnel Center (CPC) in Silver Spring, Maryland. The AOC is best known for the ‘Hurricane Hunters,' a group of aircraft used for hurricane reconnaissance. They fly through hurricanes to help forecasters and scientists gather operational and research data. The crews also conduct other research projects, including ocean wind studies, winter storm research, thunderstorm research, coastal erosion, and air chemistry flights. Her thirty-six-year federal career began as a stay-in-school student, Clerk-Typist with General Services Administration. Although she studied Business Administration at Barton College, she found her federal niche when she was introduced to federal budgeting and finance in 1991. Since then, she has become the “Olivia Pope” of federal budgeting and finance. She has enjoyed working at a few cabinet-level agencies: the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services with the U.S. Surgeon General and National Institutes of Health, the Department of Transportation, and the Department of Homeland Security. Aside from her recent retirement from Federal service, a few little-known facts about Lisa are that she holds several professional certifications, has authored/published several books, has completed her first TEDx Talk, has an honorary Doctor of Divinity, and is an ordained Elder in the Christian faith. __________________________ For More on Lisa Lewis LinkedIn Website Amazon __________________________ Podcast Conversations You May Like Grace in Motion – Susan Hartzler Your Identity Beyond Your Job Title – Laverne McKinnon The Mutual Benefits of Intergenerational Volunteering – Atalaya Sergi __________________________ About The Retirement Wisdom Podcast There are many podcasts on retirement, often hosted by financial advisors with their own financial motives, that cover the money side of the street. The Baltimore Orioles went 3-4 on an important AL East road trip through Tampa and New York. As a last-place team, that's not good enough but it was the way they lost games that was more disturbing. Luke Jones and Nestor discuss 8-0 blown leads, almost getting no-hit at Yankee Stadium and the indignity of losing another one-run lead in the 8th inning in The Bronx. On Friday's Mark Levin Show, there's the horseshoe theory against Israel on Iran, which says that the radical left and right political ideologies, such as radical leftists (e.g., Communists, Islamists) and far-right groups (e.g., Klansmen, white supremacists, neo-Nazis, isolationists), converge in their views and actions, forming an alliance despite apparent differences. That's why we see Bernie Sanders agree with Chatsworth Qatarlson (Tucker Carlson) and Steve Bannon. Bannon claims Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, Kayleigh McEnany, and Fox News should be investigated for supporting Israel. One would think he would be careful about saying who should be investigated after his past. Matt Gaetz is back saying that Israel doesn't allow Arabs to vote, which is a flat-out lie. As time goes on these people all reveal themselves as the crazy people they are with no loyalty to President Trump or MAGA. Also, Trump is a historic figure leading efforts to counter Iran's nuclear ambitions. Israel's military actions, including destroying Iranian radar and weakening their defenses, make it easier for U.S. or Israeli forces to strike nuclear sites like Fordo. Americans are not warmongers or neo-cons. The American public supports these actions, rejects isolationism, and opposes being labeled warmongers by “fake MAGA” critics. Later, Gov Ron DeSantis calls in to explain Florida's efforts to evacuate Americans in Israel. The state evacuated 1,500 people, including college students and families, with two planeloads of 160-170 passengers already returned to Tampa. He emphasized the emotional relief of families, particularly those with young children, and Florida's commitment to continue the mission, utilizing resources like cruise ships to Cyprus for safe transport. DeSantis also discusses his push to reform property taxes in Florida, focusing on exempting primary residences (homesteaded properties) from property taxes. Homeowners don't truly own their homes if they must continuously pay property taxes, as failure to pay could result in government seizure. Finally, Alexander Hamilton's view of liberty and government contrasted sharply with that of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, favoring a stronger, more centralized federal authority. While Madison, in Federalist No. 45, emphasized that the Constitution granted the federal government limited, defined powers—primarily over external affairs like war and foreign commerce—leaving broad authority to the states, Hamilton advocated for a more robust national government. At the Constitutional Convention, he proposed a powerful executive and legislature with lifelong terms, reflecting his preference for centralized control, though these ideas were swiftly rejected. Despite his role in co-authoring the Federalist Papers to support the Constitution's ratification, Hamilton's vision aligns with modern proponents of an activist government, contributing to his popularity among contemporary elites in media, politics, and academia, as evidenced by Hamilton the musical.
