She said “If there is any way I can help girls like this by selling pants, I will sell pants.” In this episode we discuss: - Her journey into the business of selling pants and the fight against human trafficking. - Business and dignified employment changes lives. - One of the main things driving exploitation is extreme poverty. - We are all vulnerable to certain levels and to certain things but there are more certain areas of life that make people much more vulnerable. - Devaluing females makes those females feel so vulnerable to exploitation. - Often when we think of trafficking we often think sex trafficking but labour trafficking is a huge thing as well. - Our impact is all around dignified employment. - A living wage is very important, but a living wage tells you that you can accomplish something in life, but it's an amount, you can make a lot of money doing things that are not dignified. - If there is more poverty in the country, there is more vulnerability and most likely more exploitation. - If you really want to make a positive impact, you don't have to be extreme as they crave for freedom. - Every country has different value on their money and cost of living is different but if a person doesn't have money for their necessities, if they don't have money to send their kids to school, if they don't have enough money to put away as savings for their future, then they are not getting enough money, that's the basic definition of minimum wage. - If there are just living paycheque to paycheque…...that is poverty wage, they may be happy with it but, we can do better. - Continue to talk to people who have been there before you. - As an entrepreneur, you will always get advice....continue learning. - Step away! Make sure you find time to step away because entrepreneurship can be overwhelming. - Figure out what refreshes you and get plenty of it. The benefits of partnership are huge. -There is nothing wrong with being a part time worker and a part time entrepreneur. -Set clear boundaries, manage your time very carefully and very intentionally. -You are not going to get further in life by working 20 hours and sleeping 4 hours. -Get started, get in and get going.
