The dance school is located in a farm two hour drive West of Rio de Janeiro.  Upon return to Israel she started feeling pricking and “movements” and under her scalp on the back of her head. She noted three non-healing furuncles on the back of her head A month after she returned movement and pricking in the back of her scalp increased, the furuncles enlarged and produced serous discharge. Several days before her ED visit she thinks an “object” dropped from the back of her scalp, but being outdoors, she could not locate the object.  On physical examination she is afebrile and her vitals are normal, and on the back of her head two indurated   were detected under the hair on the back of her head. Serous discharge was produced by pushing the furuncles. A non-surgical office procedure led to immediate recovery and confirmed the diagnosis.  What was the parasite? What was the procedure? April 3, 2004. La Cygne, Kansas. 23-year old Alonzo Brooks vanishes while attending a party at a farmhouse and his body is discovered on the banks of a nearby creek nearly one month later. While a forensic pathologist is unable to determine Alonzo's exact cause of death, rumours start circulating that he was the victim of a hate crime before his body was placed at that location. In 2021, after Alonzo's body is exhumed and given a new autopsy, it is announced that his death has officially been reclassified as a homicide. Who was responsible for killing Alonzo Brooks and what was the motive for his murder? If his death wasn't a hate crime, what did actually happen to him? Gayle sets the scene of McCabe's upbringing as a free Black man on the East Coast and his move across the country to majority-Black towns in Kansas and Oklahoma. Gayle also talks about how Black settlers navigated the challenges of the supposed promised land, including bleak weather and the machinations of white politicians. Despite great difficulties, Gayle explains, McCabe persisted, and while his dreamed-of state never came to fruition, his legacy is visible in some Western towns even today. The first three weeks of the NFL season have been crazy. Injuries have piled up. Some teams have surpassed us while others have disappointed out of the gate. The Eagles are 3-0, yet not playing their best football - or are they? This week, Mark Schofield from SB Nation joined us for a great discussion on what we're seeing around the league. A fantastic conversation! But first, the guys dove into how the Philadelphia Phillies outfield rotation has been a success over the past month. (Approx. 3:55)From there, they got into how the end of this Philadelphia Union regular season has looked. (Approx. 10:35)The guys then talked about the passing of Flyers great Bernie Parent and how the Flyers preseason has looked thus far. (Approx. 15:45)The Eagles are winning games, but It's not because of Saquon Barkley and a dominant run game. The guys gave their thoughts on the Eagles rushing attack. (Approx. 26:55)What they threw down on the Table this week was a great, in-depth conversation with Mark Schofield from SB Nation about a number of NFL storylines. Assessing the Eagles offense after three weeks. How are the Commanders truly performing as they're 2-1? Are the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes on the downslide? Why certain NFL teams still stink after so many year. All of this and much more this week on the Table! This week, a special road trip episode featuring Walnut Valley original Pecan Grove campground jam band Old Sound recorded live at the 2024 Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas. Also, a performance from renowned singer-songwriter and folk music legacy Nathan McEuen. The annual Walnut Valley Festival, now in it's 53rd season, is one of the oldest and most respected acoustic music festivals in the world. Held at the Winfield, Kansas fairgrounds, more than 30 musical acts will perform on four separate stages, presenting over 200 hours of live music. Also, there is a dedicated contest stage where contestants vie for national and international championships in Finger Style Guitar, Flat Pick Guitar, Bluegrass Banjo, Old Time Fiddle, Mandolin, Mountain Dulcimer, Hammered Dulcimer, and Autoharp. There is a juried arts and crafts fair, exhibits by renowned instrument makers and music shops, family activities, a bevy of food vendors, a farmer's market and even a pub! An unusual aspect of Walnut Valley is its campground tradition. Campsites are not reserved and campers line up to claim a choice campsite during the "Land Rush.” Walnut Valley Festival goers often bring their own musical instruments to participate in the sometimes all night campground jam sessions. Bands like Old Sound and Sally & The Hurts that began as "Jam Bands" in the campgrounds, have even been invited to perform at the festival. A trio of longtime friends and musical collaborators, Kansas City's Old Sound crafts an original brand of liquid folk music. The well-worn trio travels through song with evocative acoustic compositions, imagery-filled lyrics and beckoning three-part harmonies.  The band holds deep roots running back to Winfield, KS where they grew up and cut their teeth in the picking circles and campground stages of the Walnut Valley Festival.  Old Sound continues to evolve and bend the possibilities of modern acoustic music with rich, effects-driven live performances, while also creating a unique sound that could just as easily be heard around a campfire. - https://oldsoundmusic.com/ Nathan McEuen grew up surrounded by incredible music and talented musicians. By age five he started performing with his father, John McEuen (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band), Nathan soon became a natural showman.  With over 40 years of touring, more than 3,000 shows, and appearances on American Idol, The Stagecoach Festival, the Grand Ole Opry, The Tonight Show, Music City Roots, and XM/Sirius Radio, his music has reached audiences around the world. Held in the highest esteem by his musical colleagues, Nathan has shared the stage with an impressive lineup of artists ranging from Bon Jovi to Willie Nelson. In this week's “From the Vault” segment, OHR producer Jeff Glover offers a 1984 archival recording of Ozark original Kenny Sims performing the traditional American Civil War song “Goober Peas,” from the Ozark Folk Center State Park archives. In his segment “Back in the Hills,” writer, professor and historian Dr. Brooks Blevins discusses the Ozark roots for one man's inspiration that would ultimately result in the founding of the Grand Old Opry.

When the world's most iconic piece of film memorabilia--Judy Garland's iconic ruby slippers--were stolen from a small museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota (yes, Minnesota) in 2005, the world went on high alert. The questions swirled like a Kansas tornado: Who took them, how were such an important piece of American culture able to be swiped in the first place, and most importantly WOULD WE EVER GET THEM BACK?  For over a decade, the investigation festered. The police were brainless! The heartless thieves left fans in the lurch, and the only hope was that an unknown hero would have the courage to come forward with information that would solve this case and return the slippers to their rightful place in Judy Garland's home town, because, as everyone knows, there's no place like home. Sarah Pedlow was enjoying an artist's residency in Budapest when a museum visit changed the course of her artwork and her career. In the Ethnographic Museum, displays of traditional clothing and dowry goods from Hungarian villages showed an extraordinary variety of skills. Many of the intricately embroidered pieces spoke to an earlier time—although some had been created not that long ago. One type of embroidery, írásos, particularly captured Sarah's imagination. Using a straightforward open chain stitch in bold, graphic lines, the style was distinctively Hungarian, with Turkish-influenced motifs reflecting the region's history. Although she didn't speak Hungarian (a notoriously difficult language) and had no previous background in fiber art, Sarah was drawn to learn more about the embroidery. She eventually made several trips to an ethnically Hungarian region of Romania, where she met some of the few embroiderers still working in the technique and learned the stitch for herself. Within the community, this style is called “written” embroidery, and writing the patterns is respected as a distinct skill. After years of traveling in the region and studying with traditional embroiderers, Sarah decided to bring others to experience what she had learned. Working with a local guide, she began leading tours to visit the museums, shops in the markets, and learn directly from the villagers who still practice the art daily. Sarah's fine-art work has come to incorporate stitching and textiles. Her interest in traditional fiber arts has also grown beyond írásos to include the Arraiolas stitch practiced in Portugal, another destination for her textile tours, and explorations in the embroidery of Estonia, Bulgaria, and Spain—with more destinations capturing her eye. Our conversation made me eager to pack and needle and thread and go explore the world—you may get textile wanderlust, too. This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! Deep in rural Kansas, hidden within a near-ghost town, stands a building frozen in time — a haunted church built in 1904. With its towering spires reaching toward the heavens and a presence that dominates the empty prairie, it looks like something out of a Gothic novel. But behind its weathered brick walls lies more than just history. It holds stories… and spirits. For more than a century, this sacred space has witnessed life's most defining moments: baptisms, weddings, and tearful funerals. The prayers, laughter, and grief of generations seem to cling to the air, embedding themselves into the very wood of the pews. Though the congregation has long since vanished, many believe the faithful few never truly left. Now, paranormal investigator Robert Garcia and his team have taken on the challenge of restoring this abandoned landmark. Their mission isn't only about saving a piece of Kansas history — it's about resurrecting a church where the dead still gather. While repairing the structure, they've encountered chilling activity: whispers echoing down the aisles, phantom footsteps crossing the altar, and shadowy figures slipping between pews as though Sunday service never ended. Is this activity a residual haunting, the lingering echoes of decades past? Or are these intelligent spirits, former parishioners still tied to the house of worship they once called home? The answers lie within the walls of this forgotten church, where faith and fear intertwine. This is Part Two of our conversation. #HauntedChurch #KansasHauntings #RealGhostStories #HauntedPlaces #Ghosts #ParanormalActivity #AbandonedChurch #HauntedKansas #ParanormalPodcast #TrueHaunting #GhostStory #HauntedHistory Love real ghost stories?
