On this episode of Unsupervised Learning Razib discusses war and diplomacy from 9/11 to 10/7 with Mark Safranski. Safranski is a long-time military affairs and foreign policy commentator who ran the popular weblog Zenpundit beginning in 2003. They survey how the 21st century, from the 9/11 attacks down to the Hamas atrocity against Israelis on 10/7, has seen a transformation of war and diplomacy by other means. From an age of flip phones as a luxury item in the early 2000's to ubiquitous smartphones in the 2020's, Safranksi and Razib explore how even still in 2023, Russia and Ukraine are engaging in the most significant set-piece battles since War War II, recapitulating some of the worst aspects of stagnant trench warfare more than a century on. Safranski then explains the theories promoted by military scholars about how warfare has, and should, change in the technological era, particularly William Lind's ideas of fourth and fifth-generation warfare. He also argues that drone technology in various forms has been around since World War I, though it was perfected in the past twenty years. Considering America's technological advancements over the 21st century, Safranski alarmingly explains that the gap between us and our nearest competitor, China, is rapidly closing (with the US losing every government-sponsored war game against China in the years around 2020). He believes that the unipolar moment of the late 1990's is truly ending, and elaborates on the decay that has overtaken some branches of the US military, in particular, what had been the world's dominant blue-water navy, which is literally rusting away. They conclude the conversation by reflecting on the changing role of the blogosphere in influencing military and foreign policy thinkers, and how the decade after 9/11 saw a fertile cross-pollination between online discourse and the brain trusts of the military-industrial complex. Finally, Razib asks Safranski if the neoconservative movement is making a comeback in the wake of Russia's Ukraine invasion, and what has surprised him about American reactions to 10/7.
As the easternmost European Union member, Finland, historically neutral, pivots towards NATO in response to Russia's Ukraine invasion, new geopolitical challenges arise: increased Russian espionage, cyberattacks and potential election interference, the Finnish government says.Additionally, a surge of asylum seekers, allegedly directed by Russia, strains stability.Amid these tensions, Finland's $345m Israeli defence deal, which many see as conflicting with its stance on Gaza, sparks debate.Discussing these complex issues, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen talks to Al Jazeera.Subscribe to our channel http://bit.ly/AJSubscribeFollow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/AJEnglishFind us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/aljazeeraCheck our website: https://www.aljazeera.com/Check out our Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/aljazeeraenglish/Download AJE Mobile App: https://aje.io/AJEMobile@AljazeeraEnglish#Aljazeeraenglish#News

Amidst the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, a surprising internal strife has erupted between the Russian military and the Wagner mercenary group, led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Did Putin foresee the possibility of creating a powerful private military company that could challenge the Kremlin's forces? With Wagner turning against Putin, does this development alleviate the threat to Ukraine and Europe? Why did the uprising fizzle out quickly and require Belarusian intervention? What are the implications of Gorkhas joining the Wagner group? Find out more in this intriguing discussion with host Dev Goswami and "Def Savvy," Abhishek Bhalla.
Time is ticking to fill up, before the fuel tax returns. The Government's relief package ends tomorrow, meaning petrol prices will rise around 29 cents a litre including GST. It'll still be substantially less than the peaks seen after Russia's Ukraine invasion in March last year which saw oil prices skyrocket. Gull NZ General Manager, Dave Bodger told Kate Hawkesby sales have been up, rather than manic. Today we're bringing you a bonus episode on the attempted insurrection by Wagner forces in Russia from Crisis Group's global podcast Hold Your Fire!Over the weekend, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Russian private security company known as the Wagner Group, spearheaded an insurrection in Russia. In response to Kremlin moves to bring Wagner under the Russian army's command and, according to him, attacks on a Wagner base by the Russian military, the group seized the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don, the main staging ground for Russia's Ukraine war. Wagner forces then advanced to within 200km of Moscow before Prigozhin backed down and agreed to leave for Belarus and demobilise his forces involved in the uprising. Wagner's future, particularly in areas of Africa and the Middle East in which it operates, is uncertain. This week on Hold Your Fire!, Richard speaks first with Crisis Group's Europe & Central Asia Director Olga Oliker about what drove Prigozhin's rebellion and what it means for the Kremlin and its war in Ukraine. Richard then talks to Sahel Director Jean-Hervé Jezequel and UN Director Richard Gowan about how the uprising might affect Wagner's operations in Africa, particularly in Mali. They look at how the Malian transitional authorities' ties to Moscow and Wagner have influenced Bamako's foreign relations and their recent demand that the Security Council pull out UN peacekeepers from Mali. They also examine what the withdrawal of the mission might mean for the fight against jihadists in Mali and a peace process in the country's north that is already under strain. Russia's Ukraine war isn't going well so far in 2023: Ukrainian forces destroyed a military base in the deadliest attack on Russian forces since the war began last February. Is the tide turning? Israel's new national security minister visited the Temple Mount, provoking irrational outrage from the Arab world and the international community. Another “Twitter Files” release exposes how federal agents pressured and directed Twitter to promote the lie that Russia influenced the 2016 election. Meanwhile, an investigation has showed that Google employs 165 former intel agents in high-level positions. We also talk about Pope Benedict's death and funeral, North Korea's pledge to dramatically expand its nuclear weapons arsenal, Germans demanding their nation's defense minister resign, economic trouble in Egypt, evidence that Democrats have been using Catholic NGOs to fund illegal immigration, and how the Prince Harry saga continues to grow even uglier. *) Calls for UNSC meeting over Al Aqsa Mosque The United Arab Emirates and China have called for a UN Security Council meeting after Israel's national security minister entered the Al Aqsa complex in occupied East Jerusalem. Itamar Ben-Gvir's move drew fierce condemnation across the world as the move was seen as a provocation that could exacerbate tensions between Israelis and Palestinians. Sitting on a site sacred to Muslims, Jews and Christians, Al Aqsa is a symbol of Palestinian resistance and a primary flashpoint in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. Calm is upheld in the site by a sensitive status quo agreement that is regularly bypassed by Israelis visiting the mosque and praying there despite not being allowed to. *) Germany delays emissions goals Short-term measures to ensure energy security following Russia's Ukraine offensive have left Germany behind schedule in its bid to become carbon-neutral by 2045. Data from a climate think tank showed that Germany's carbon dioxide emissions held steady in 2022 as higher use of oil and coal nullified the reductions in emissions through energy savings. Germany's greenhouse gas emissions were around 761 million tonnes last year, missing a target of 756 million tonnes, despite the country's renewable energy boom. *) McCarthy's bid for House speaker to continue Kevin McCarthy's bid to become the US House speaker has continued despite losing in multiple rounds of voting that threw the new GOP majority into chaos. He won no more than 203 votes in three rounds of voting, losing as many as 20 Republicans from his slim 222-seat majority. But McCarthy said Trump wanted him to stay in the race and told him to bring an end to the House Republican chaos and pull the party together. *) Rail workers continue to strike in UK UK rail workers with the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers will continue to strike in an ongoing dispute over pay. After a break on Thursday, another 48-hour strike will be staged on Friday and Saturday. The demonstrations have crippled rail services and resulted in travel chaos in the UK, which is in the grip of its worst run of worker unrest since the 1980s. As surging inflation follows more than 10 years of stagnant wage growth, many workers who have been unable to make ends meet were prompted to strike. And finally… *) Marvel's Hawkeye posts first selfie after accident Actor Jeremy Renner, who played Hawkeye in Marvel's "Avengers", has posted a selfie from his hospital bed after he suffered a traumatic injury while ploughing snow on New Year's Day. Alongside the selfie on Instagram, showing the actor looking bruised with oxygen tubes in his nose, Renner thanked his fans for their well wishes. The actor had "suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries" in the accident according to his publicist.
As Russia and Ukraine dig in for a long war, can Europe change its energy habits on the fly? The World This Week looks ahead to 2023 as François Picard's panel measures how climate change, inflation and Russia's invasion of Ukraine have upended energy transition plans.

Kia ora,Welcome to Monday's Economy Watch where we follow the economic events and trends that affect Aotearoa/New Zealand.I'm David Chaston and this is the International edition from Interest.co.nz.Today we lead with news we are ending the year with some very mixed signals, and it isn't clear one way or the other whether the widely-expected recession will actually eventuate in 2023. Markets are no longer in 'fear' mode. However, in China the pressure on property developers is never-ending. Now, to bail them out, Beijing has ordered its top four state-owned banks to issue offshore loans to help developers repay overseas debt. And to encourage buyers to return, mortgage interest rates for first home loans have been dropped by over one percentage point since the start of 2022. As of the end of November, the average first home loan rate in China stood at 4.17%.In Japan, births among Japanese nationals totalled 798,500, according to official data for 2022, and down from +811,000 in the prior year. This is the first time the 12-month figure has dipped below 800,000 births. That is far below replacement levels and the Japanese population is shrinking fast now. Earlier, the Japanese population was forecast to shrink to less than 100 million people in 2053, but now there is a strong likelihood the milestone will be reached much sooner. Of course, this isn't just a Japanese 'problem'. It is equally true for South Korea, Italy and ChinaIn Europe, producer prices are now falling, and quite quickly after a heady, uncontrolled run-up induced by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. They fell -2.5% in October from September (or falling at an annualised -30% rate), but they are still +31 higher than year-ago levels. In the US, their labour market has again outperformed analysts' expectations with a headline seasonally adjusted rise of +262,000 non-farm payroll jobs in November when a +200,000 was expected. The labour market expansion hasn't stalled yet. But as regular readers know, we also look at the raw, unadjusted data, and that shows payrolls actually rose +574,000 to 155 mln* and a new record high. That is +4.8 mln more employed than a year ago, and almost +2 mln more employed than the peak pre-pandemic. That is a lot of extra payroll cascading through the giant American economy. It is no wonder that some analysts think a softer landing is possible. The same data shows that US hourly earnings rose +5.8% in the year to November, and weekly earnings were up +4.9%. Hourly earnings are rising at a faster annualised pace in November from October, up at the rate of +8.1% pa. Workers seem to be keeping up, and that demand-induced gain is consistent with a tight labour market.Wall Street seemed under pressure after this data was released, now unsure whether the US Fed will ease back in the way that was signalled earlier in the week. Clearly wage-push inflation is a policy 'thing', and the much larger expansion of the overall workforce is providing the currency to sustain higher prices for longer. That's not to say it's all roses. It isn't. The Fed's Beige Book surveys show that businesses expressed greater uncertainty and increased pessimism for the American economy as prices and interest rates continue to rise.Canada's labour market also turned in a better-than-expected result in November too. Total employment was little changed in November (+10,000), but that follows a big increase of +108,000 in October and the November data shows the prior month's result was not an outlier. In Australia, it is becoming clearer that sharply higher prices for coal and natural gas (thanks to Russia's Ukraine invasion fallout), and continuing good iron ore prices, are delivering a substantial windfall tax-take for Australian states and their Federal government. They have a direct financial interest in raising carbon-emitting outputs. These increases, along with the ending of some substantial tax deductions available to miners, are enough to push their budget balances into surplus. That is a huge turn-around from what just last year seemed like persistent long-term deficits.Meanwhile, global food prices eased slightly in November, continuing a downward trend since the peak in March. Prices for both meat and dairy contributed to the easing. Overall prices are -15% below their March peak, and now back to year-ago levels. But they remain +40% higher than their pre-pandemic levels, so the core pressure is still there. The UST 10yr yield starts today at 3.49% and down -4 bps from where we left it Saturday. The price of gold will open today up at US$1797/oz. A week ago it was US$1753/oz, so a +US$44 gain since then, mostly exchange-rate induced. And oil prices start today down -US$1 from this time Saturday at just over US$80/bbl in the US while the international Brent price is down to just over US$86/bbl. These are about +US$4 higher for the week as the US dollar sank. The Kiwi dollar will open today at 64.1 USc, and up to it highest since August. Against the Australian dollar we are firmer at 94.4 AUc and an eleven month high. Against the euro we are firm at 60.9 euro cents and a two month high. That all means our TWI-5 starts today at 72.4 and a three month high. The bitcoin price is now at US$17,013 and down -0.3% from this time Saturday. A week ago it was at US$16,496. Volatility over the past 24 hours has low again at just +/- 0.7%.You can find links to the articles mentioned today in our show notes. And get more news affecting the economy in New Zealand from interest.co.nz.Kia ora. Saudi Arabia announced oil production cuts at the OPEC meeting in October by 2million barrels daily or 2% of global production. President Biden had asked the Kingdom's leadership to increase production in July. The Saudi move seemed to favor Russia and work against Western economic sanctions against Russia's Ukraine war. Why did they do it and what do they have to gain ? Professor Nicholas Grossman explains what is at play with this key US ally. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/james-herlihy/message

The war in Ukraine took another nasty turn this week. Last Saturday, a blast destroyed parts of the Kerch bridge, which links Russian-occupied Crimea with Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin blamed Ukraine for the explosion and announced retaliatory strikes on cities throughout Ukraine. This latest escalation comes after Ukrainian military gains in September prompted Putin to announce a partial mobilisation of fresh Russian forces and the annexation of several partly Russian-held regions in eastern Ukraine. He also made his most explicit nuclear threats yet. In this episode of Hold Your Fire!, Richard Atwood speaks with Olga Oliker, Crisis Group's Europe and Central Asia program director, to discuss where things stand on the battlefield, where the conflict might be headed and the peril of further escalation. They talk about Russia's recent escalatory steps and Moscow's announcement of General Sergey Surovikin, who led Russia's brutal campaign in Syria, as new commander for Russia's Ukraine operations. They also look at the growing criticism in Moscow of Russia's war efforts. They examine what Putin's repeated escalations in response to Ukrainian gains means for the risks of a direct confrontation with NATO and nuclear weapons use. They also discuss the divided response from European countries on whether to welcome in Russians fleeing the Kremlin's mobilisation. Private sector satellite communications provision is paying dividends for Ukrainian forces in that country's ongoing war. In the wake of Russia's Ukraine invasion on 24th February, thousands of Satellite Communications (SATCOM) terminals were shipped to Ukrainian forces. Elon Musk despatched terminals to provide wideband internet coverage via his Starlink satellite constellation. His actions mirrored those of Viasat which had provided terminals before the invasion. Both Starlink and Viasat experienced Russian cyberattacks but these were quickly rectified with software updates. In our latest Armada MilComms Podcast we talk to Adam Bartosiewicz, vice president of WB Group about the provision of private sector SATCOM in Ukraine, and its tactical and operational significance.
One year ago this week, the great American betrayal of Afghanistan culminated with a total debacle of a withdrawal that ended in death and carnage. On Aug. 26, 2021, 13 US troops and 170 Afghans were killed when a bomb ripped through the crowd at the Abbey Gate. The blast took only seconds, but the devastation will live on for decades. And in this pod, we'll go deep into it with new reporting from The Washington Post's intrepid defense reporter, Dan Lamothe (@DanLamothe). Dan joined us on this show twice before. Once for a pre-inauguration preview in January of 2021 for Episode 96. And again for Episode 154 back in February 2022 to talk about then new documents that revealed the U.S. military was intensely frustrated with the administration over the Afghanistan evacuation. The Washington Post broke the story, and Dan was the lead reporter and joined us to talk about it. And now he's back—one year after the collapse of Afghanistan—to share the insights and moving takeaways from his exclusive new story. Dan talked to 13 U.S. troops who survived the Kabul airport disaster about how their feelings of guilt and grief endure. There's also a companion podcast that features three of them. It's harrowing, frustrating and heartbreaking stuff. That suicide bomber did more than kill dozens that day. It blew apart the lives of all who survived. And the Biden narrative for Afghanistan. And yes, kids. America is still at war. In many places. Including Syria. Host Paul Rieckhoff (@PaulRieckhoff) and Dan also dig into the US airstrike in Syria that most Americans didn't even see. And it's been 6 months since Russia invaded Ukraine. Is support inside the Pentagon slipping after all the carnage? Listen and find out. And, Paul and Dan break down where the next American bombs might fall. And where the next unformed American boots might walk. The answers might surprise you. Speaking of surprises, and things blowing up, that's what happened to this show 48 hours ago. We were very happy Dan could join us. But that wasn't the original plan. As Paul told you last episode, we had a big guest coming up. But after a bit of back and forth, things went in a different direction. The guest flaked in a big way. And you'll hear more. *) US-Afghan talks on release of frozen assets to continue US President Joe Biden's administration will press ahead with talks on releasing billions of dollars in Afghanistan's foreign-held assets. This is despite the late Al Qaeda leader's presence in Kabul, and Washington's frustration with the pace, according to sources with knowledge of the situation, Reuters news agency has reported. The decision to pursue the initiative to help stabilise Afghanistan's collapsed economy underscores growing concern over a humanitarian crisis as the United Nations warns that nearly half the country's 40 million people face "acute hunger" as winter approaches. *) Russia's Ukraine soldiers trial to undermine talks Russia might take the provocative step of putting Ukrainian soldiers on trial as Kiev marks 31 years of independence on Wednesday, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned. Zelenskyy warned: "If this despicable court takes place, if our people are brought into these settings in violation of all agreements, all international rules, there will be abuse." Ukraine's Independence Day on August 24 will also mark six months since Russia attacked the former Soviet republic, in a devastating war that has cost thousands of lives. *) Police file terrorism charges against Pakistan's Imran Khan In Pakistan, police have filed terrorism charges against former prime minister Imran Khan, escalating political tensions in the country. Pakistan's media watchdog has banned the live telecast of Khan's speeches, after he was accused of threatening top police officials and a female judge during a rally in Islamabad. Following that rally, Islamabad police registered a criminal complaint against Khan under the country's anti-terrorism act. *) US, S Korea begin biggest military drills since 2018 amid N Korea backlash The United States and South Korea have begun their biggest combined military drills since 2018 – a move likely to enrage North Korea, which has been ramping up its nuclear threats. The two countries have long carried out joint exercises, which they insist are purely defensive but North Korea sees them as a rehearsal for invasion. The annual joint military drills mark the resumption of large-scale training sessions after they were scaled back due to Covid-19 and a bout of failed diplomacy with Pyongyang. *) Computer-animated movie 'Dragon Ball' slays at box office in North America Computer-animated martial arts film "Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero," the 21st in the Japanese franchise, has seized control of the North American box office. With an impressive $20.1 million in ticket sales, it was hailed as the best global opening ever for an anime movie by distributor Crunchyroll. The film outshined the $11.6 million take of another new release, Universal's "Beast".
Is a Chinese invasion on Taiwan a storm on the horizon when the West is busy with the Ukrainian war? Will Nancy Pelosi's plan to visit Taiwan in August, the first by a Speaker of the US House of Representatives since 1997, escalate tensions between China and Taiwan? Joining us Julie Chen to talk about this hot topic is Sean King, senior vice president at Park Strategies, a New York business advisory firm which has undertaken research and analysis on Taiwan and its neighborly relations. He is also an Affiliated Scholar at the University of Notre Dame Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies. Based on his experience in the government and business sectors, Sean King believes that Russia's Ukraine invasion was not a prelude to China's moving on Taiwan. The two situations are very different. In Sean's view, visits by US officials to Taiwan are not without precedent and Nancy Pelosi's visit should not be viewed as a provocation by the United States or Taiwan. Julie Yu-Wen Chen is Professor of Chinese Studies at the Department of Cultures at the University of Helsinki (Finland). Dr. Chen serves as one of the editors of the Journal of Chinese Political Science (Springer, SSCI). Formerly, she was chair of Nordic Association of China Studies (NACS) and Editor-in-Chief of Asian Ethnicity (Taylor & Francis). This week's episode of BWB Extra continues our conversation with Courtney Fingar, Editor-In-Chief of Investment Monitor who opens up to talk about all things FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) and globalisation, the very personal topic of Russia's Ukraine invasion and the effect it's having both economically and personally as well as discussing the links between social media's manipulated disinformation economy and the general state of civil unrest we're experiencing across the world.BWB is powered by Oury Clark.
For today's Playlist, another look into FP's ongoing series FP Live hosted by Foreign Policy's Editor-in-Chief Ravi Agrawal. Today he speaks with Fiona HIll the former Senior Director for Europe and Russia at the United States National Security Council. She discusses the long term implications of Russia's attack on Ukraine for Europe. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
On this episode of the DefAero Report Daily Podcast, sponsored by Bell, Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall discusses lessons from Russia's Ukraine war, improving alliance interoperability, addressing fast-moving needs, nuclear modernization and the Next Generation Air Dominance program; and Sash Tusa of the independent equity research firm Agency Partners discusses the British government's announcement that Japan would be joining the UK-Sweden-Italy Tempest future combat aircraft program with Defense & Aerospace Report Editor Vago Muradian.
Kieran talks with Daniel Thelesklaf, Project Director for Finance Against Slavery and Trafficking (FAST) at the United Nations University Centre for Policy Research about the effort to protect refugees fleeing Russia's invasion of Ukraine from human trafficking. While many governments, organizations and individuals are offering support for refugees that includes information, food, shelter and job placements, “there are traffickers waiting at the borders” with job and other offers that Daniel says are, of course, too good to be true. Financial institutions have a vital role and a responsibility, he adds, in helping those dispossessed by the war obtain banking services if they are to be less susceptible to traffickers and successfully fit into communities where they are resettled.
The State Department's Derek Chollet sat down to talk about Russia's Ukraine invasion, China's 21st-century rise, and much more with Defense One Executive Editor Kevin Baron.

It comes as the fighting in Ukraine grinds on, and Ukraine's President continues his campaign to enlist international assistance.
Following the invasion of Ukraine, an American pair of major providers of global Internet backbone services announced they had discontinued services to Russia, in a move that sparked immediate conjecture that Moscow could splinter off from the Internet. But it's more complicated than that; what's more, there are those who believe that the cause of those opposing the invasion would be better served by ensuring that the Russian people were able to stay online. Also on this week's podcast: China's so-called Two Sessions meetings shift the policy emphasis from competition to economic stability, job creation and fiscal support for enterprises. But where does that leave last year's emphasis on antitrust?
Spurred by post-pandemic demand and Russia's invasion of Ukraine, gas prices surged past $4 per gallon last week and Americans are suddenly freaking out about “pain at the pump.” What a big surprise, right? Not really! In this episode, Slate's Henry Grabar joins us to argue that when it comes to the inherent instability in the global oil market, Americans have the memory of goldfish, locked in a ruinous cycle of dependence on fossil fuels and the authoritarian oligarchs who sell them to us. Speaking to members of the United States Congress, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, called on the U.S. to do more and for President Joe Biden to be the leader of peace. Plus, how Russia's Ukraine invasion may impact its strategy in Syria, Libya, and Sudan. And why one Silicon Valley executive signed up to be a digital soldier for Ukraine.
In this public News Brief, we examine the most unhelpful, glib, self-aggrandizing, and cynical responses from American media to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The desperate appeals and shocking visuals of thousands of Indian medical students stuck in war-ravaged Ukraine are making everyone ask one question. What made them travel so far for education? And the answer is access to quality education at an affordable fee. A medical degree costs over three times more in India, than in Ukraine. So what can be done to bring down the cost of medical education in India while increasing the number of seats at the same time? Russia's Ukraine invasion has sent the stock markets on a roller-coaster ride. It has also sent prices of most commodities, including oil soaring. Brent crude oil has hit 110 dollars a barrel. So what investors should do amid this upheaval? Jim Rogers, chairman of Rogers Holdings, reveals his investment strategies in an exclusive interview with Business Standard's Puneet Wadhwa. The ongoing geopolitical crisis, he believes, is an opportunity to buy. Financial institutions around the world are winding down or suspending business in Russia, following heavy sanctions against it by the West. Global index providers MSCI and FTSE say that these sanctions have made Russia's stock market “un-investable”. And, removal of Russian listings from their indices is a “natural next step”. But will India really see FPI inflows after this? After markets, let us move on to a contagious disease which has been causing worldwide havoc for over two years now. Covid-19's dreadful journey started from China as an epidemic, before it turned into a pandemic. And now the third wave is likely to become endemic here. Find out what is the difference between these terms and more in this episode of the podcast. Watch video

Russia has launched a full scale military invasion of Ukraine. The United States is sanctioning the two separatist regions of Donetsk and Lugansk, as well as Russia for their actions. Meanwhile, the Chinese communist regime is threatening to forcefully take Taiwan, and has signed a “No Limits” pact with Russia that declared no areas of cooperation between the two countries will be off the table. Questions now rest on how the United States and other nations will respond. According to Gordon Chang, author of “The Coming Collapse of China,” the situation could easily spiral into a third world war, with the Chinese regime already projecting its military ambitions over Taiwan and beyond. ⭕️ Stay up-to-date with Josh with the Crossroads NEWSLETTER
