The beginning and summary of the purpose of the Sermon on the Mount is "The Law". This episode covers "I did not come to abolish the Law but to complete...". In many ways, this is the crux of understanding the rest of the sermon and it outlines the goal and perspective of His ministry on earth. Here in part 1, I go over what the parts of this statement mean and bring in context from various other New Testament passages. There is much greater depth to being salt and light when we draw out the other connected foundational elements- water and fire. These may be implicit in these verses in Matthew and in the context of the culture being spoken to but they are very explicitly dealt with throughout scripture in other places. These other passages are explored and the interplay between them and Matthew is looked at as we dig into the interplay between salt and light, water and fire. Finishing up the Beatitudes, it's time to cover what is meant by being merciful, pure in heart, and peacemakers as well as look at what is said about suffering persecution. As always, these are not only used in the context of the Christian but also the state as we seek to form a coherent and biblical world view straight from scripture. This is part 2 of the Beatitudes section of the Sermon on the Mount. In it, the 2nd-4th of the "blessed are..." are covered from multiple angles- the religious, the secular, the positive, the negative, and other interpretations. They all lead to the same main points and all shed light on how to view the relationship between the Christian and the State. To begin the study on the Sermon on the Mount, we'll start with the first of the Beatitudes, Blessed are the poor in spirit. In addition, I do an overview of the Beatitudes and pull from the similar account in Luke and other biblical parallels to shed more light on the various meanings and interpretations of these passages. As always, it also includes an assessment of how this verse and the principles behind it relate to our relationship with the state and government as an institution in general. Although he is relatively unknown internationally, his contemporaries compared him “to Choderlos de Laclos for the use of military tactics in love affairs, to Lawrence of Arabia for vision, to Bonaparte for ambition ... and to one of apostles for conviction”. He played the key role in founding an independent Czechoslovakia in 1918 through his relentless worldwide travels during the First World War in order to create the Czechoslovak Army: he visited Serbia and Romania on the eve of invasion by the Central Powers, Russia before the February revolution, the United States after it declared war on Germany, Italy dealing with the consequences of defeat in the Caporetto battle, and again when Russia plunged into Civil War. Several historical methods are used to analyse the aforementioned central research question of this biography such as social capital to explain his rise in French society, the charismatic leader to understand how he convinced and won over a relatively large number of people; more traditional political, military, and diplomatic history to show his contribution to the founding of Czechoslovakia, and memory studies to analyse his extraordinary popularity in Slovakia. By mapping his intriguing life, the book will be of interest to scholars in a broad range of areas including history of Central Europe, especially Czechoslovakia, international relations, social history, French society at the beginning of the 20th century and biographical research. ABOUT THE GUEST Michal Kšiňan is a researcher at the Institute of History of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava. He defended his PhD theses in history summa cum laude in 2011. He wrote his PhD theses en cotutelle between University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, where he later also lectured (2018–2019), and the Institute of History of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Bratislava where he currently works. He wrote several books about Štefánik, edited or coedited 5 volumes and published dozens of scientific papers on different topics. His works were published in Slovak, French, English, Italian, German and Russian. In 2006, he graduated from history and French language and literature at the Faculty of Pedagogy, Comenius University, Bratislava. In 2007, he got his Master 2 recherche from Contemporary Central European History at University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. PRODUCER'S NOTE: This episode was recorded on November 1, 2022 via Zoom. Throughout the Bible, God uses nations and rulers for His purposes. He calls them His servants, His staff, and similar descriptions. Romans 13 says the ruling authorities are placed in their positions by God and carry out His purposes. These things are covered as we continue to dig into the relationship between the Christian and the state, God and governments, and the theology of obedience. On this episode, Lera speaks with Emily Joan Elliott of H-Net about what got her interested in Soviet and post-Soviet history and her particular focus on migration to Moscow and the Priemnaia (reception desk) of the Supreme Soviet. Per Elliott's research: "the Priemnaia received thousands of complaints and petitions annually, often from individuals or groups who argued that local soviets or enterprises failed to deliver on various aspects of their material wellbeing, including housing. But the Priemnaia also provided a place for these petitioners to voice their concerns and plead for the state to intercede on their behalf... Although the Soviet bureaucracy was a behemoth, the Priemnaia provided its citizens with direct means of engagement with government officials, cutting through red tape, and improving their material wellbeing." Thanks for listening! ABOUT THE GUEST Hailing from New York, Dr. Emily Joan Elliott is the associate director for research and publications at H-Net (https://www.h-net.org/). She received her PhD in Soviet and post-Soviet history from Michigan State University in 2019. After earning her degree, she pursued opportunities both inside and outside the academy. She has taught a broad array of courses, including the history of Russia, the Soviet Union, modern Europe, socialism, and migration. Outside the academy, she has worked as a freelance researcher and as the Special Sections Editor for the Historical Society of Michigan's magazines. She continued her foray into journalism as a reporter and then as the Managing Editor for East Lansing Info. In that role, she reported on a variety of topics, ranging from East Lansing Public Schools, Covid-19, and community disparities. It's time to look at some very direct examples of a biblical view of both anarchy and statism. Judges tells of a time when there was no king or government and people "did what was right in their own eyes". The kings that followed in the time of monarchy paint the picture of what it looks like to have a centralized government. God gives very direct commentary on this and we will look at the results of each system. Neither is ideal and in the end, both lead to failure however, there is one that is directly a rejection of God and one that does not have to be. On this episode, Misha speaks with Middle East expert Nicole Robinson who expounds on how MENA countries have responded to Russia's War in Ukraine and the reasons why. Ms. Robinson sheds some light on the future of the region as the conflict evolves and Russia's capacity to arm and feed its regional allies dwindles. Furthermore, she suggests that Russia's declining influence may allow for other actors to increase their influence in the Middle East region -- actors such as China, for example, which is one of the biggest recipients of oil and natural gas from the Persian Gulf. Ms. Robinson says it's unwise for the US to take a step back in the Middle East when it is geographically and strategically the region that is situated in between giants. This war is not only shifting great power competition, but also changing "how each of these countries think about their bilateral relationships." For more on Russia's War in Syria, listen to Ret. God lays out how a society should be structured in Mosaic Law. There is no centralized government. There are no victimless crimes. There is no national military or police force of any kind. The principles are largely libertarian with restorative justice the focus over retributive justice. I also cover the role of mercy and times when justice is not carried out. Joseph is one of the few examples we have a someone who follows God loyally and is also a government official. As we continue to look into the theology of obedience and the relationship between the Christian and the state, this provides a great example of direct involvement. While we are to avoid participation in a corrupt system, we are also to submit to governing authorities and Joseph is a great example of one of the rare times that a Christian is rightly a part of the state. Nimrod appears to be the first king referred to in scripture and Babel, the city he founded, is likely the first government spoken of in scripture. Neither have very positive connotations but that's the point of this season. I get into the associations between Nimrod, his name, and his role and well as the motivations behind the Tower and the city of Babel itself. I also point out many parallels to Adam and Eve as well as modern culture. God says that if a man murders another man then by another man's hands will his own blood be shed. Some say this establishes the death penalty. Some would say it establishes government as a whole. This begins our study on how Christians should consider the state. The story of Adam and Eve and the curses that follow the fall have much to say about rulership. This sets the stage for proper rulership and improper. It sets the stage for society's constant trend toward centralized government. Secular religion doesn't overtly follow a god or deity and thus seems to be a contradiction in terms. However, when we dive into Statism, the Church of Woke, and Scientism, we see that they do in fact have gods, and every other aspect of religion and worship for that matter, and are in fact religions. These secular religions are becoming dominant players in modern society and leading right into the heart of the Age of Science as well as Technocracy. 3.15 Secular Religion and Statism 3.16 The Church of Woke and The Dark Kingdom 3.17 Scientism and Plato‘s Republic 3.18 Scientism and Technocracy 3.19 Scientism and Technocracy, part 2 3.20 Technocracy, Transhumanism, and Current Trends Our Foundations podcast: - Website - http://www.ourfoundations.podbean.com/ - Email - ourfoundations@protonmail.com - SubscribeStar to support/ donate - https://www.subscribestar.com/ourfoundations - Patreon to support / donate - https://www.patreon.com/ourfoundations - Twitter - https://twitter.com/Foundationspc - Medium - https://medium.com/@OurFoundations - Bitcoin Address - 1AZFLCvmfXasChaaecgYMP3vtnUrnLJoY7 - Litecoin - LcXEqTS4ooNed1sxkbonuTrwM21ubWf2qi - Ethereum - 0x409D0F2766e208C1Ea97fF2429D38a3D9E3abd3a - Zcash - t1SZKfocBcghVMWVCsbSA9zAHr5fzsxi62H - Pivx - D7ziutb5gGNnJ5pXngwa3w9zJj2P1iNzUT - Bitcoin Cash - bitcoincash:qprk7ppzepzdnczvl6lffz8f5zcnjh0hyvwlgm983x - Nano - nano_16gh7igt8zb1cntbmq1hrnmnc9ea9qrj3zycscqywhak5dgtx1gwommekt7r Resources: https://chattanoogavoluntarysociety.com/ - Music : - Pied Piper by Shaolin Dub is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 License. - Jet Fueled Vixen Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License - Hard Fragility by Bisou is licensed under a Attribution-NonCommercial License - Gjallar by Alexander Nakarada | https://www.serpentsoundstudios.com Music promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.com Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
This is a framework for the Natural Order of things. It relates to the universal principles of our reality that we all experience and can see in the natural world. The core foundations are Existence, Time, and Order with the sub principles of life, love and sacrifice, cycles, progression, and causality, and hierarchy, differentiation, and meaning. There are also components to our reality that act as opposites or perversions of these core principles. These are here deemed "dark side" principles and include death, predation, and chaos. 3.3 Universal Order in Greek Philosophy, Ancient Religions, and Myths 3.4 The Natural Order- the Light Side 3.5 The Natural Order- the Dark Side 3.6 Symbolism and a Natural Order World View Our Foundations podcast: - Website - http://www.ourfoundations.podbean.com/ - Email - ourfoundations@protonmail.com - SubscribeStar to support/ donate - https://www.subscribestar.com/ourfoundations - Patreon to support / donate - https://www.patreon.com/ourfoundations - Twitter - https://twitter.com/Foundationspc - Medium - https://medium.com/@OurFoundations - Bitcoin Address - 1AZFLCvmfXasChaaecgYMP3vtnUrnLJoY7 - Litecoin - LcXEqTS4ooNed1sxkbonuTrwM21ubWf2qi - Ethereum - 0x409D0F2766e208C1Ea97fF2429D38a3D9E3abd3a - Zcash - t1SZKfocBcghVMWVCsbSA9zAHr5fzsxi62H - Pivx - D7ziutb5gGNnJ5pXngwa3w9zJj2P1iNzUT - Bitcoin Cash - bitcoincash:qprk7ppzepzdnczvl6lffz8f5zcnjh0hyvwlgm983x - Nano - nano_16gh7igt8zb1cntbmq1hrnmnc9ea9qrj3zycscqywhak5dgtx1gwommekt7r Resources: https://chattanoogavoluntarysociety.com/ - Music : - Pied Piper by Shaolin Dub is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 License. - Jet Fueled Vixen Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License - Hard Fragility by Bisou is licensed under a Attribution-NonCommercial License - Gjallar by Alexander Nakarada | https://www.serpentsoundstudios.com Music promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.com Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

On this episode, Andreas Umland talks with Lera and Cullan about the Right and the Far Right political movements in Ukraine, addressing the ultranationalist claim propounded by Russian propaganda versus the reality reflected at the election polls in Ukraine since 2014. Dr. Umland convincingly argues that the Far Right narrative, including the alarms raised over the Azov movement as justification for Putin's war, is a "non-story" and largely a "manipulation of consciousness." There are a great many social cycle theories out there and this is an introduction to many of the most relevant for our time and this current series. I cover Khaldun, Tonnies, Durkheim, Sarkar, Sorokin, W. H. Smyth, Strauss and Howe, the Bible, Kaczynski, and McLuhan. I'm drawing out their views specifically on the cycles that societies go through. They are approached from various angles and various time frames and at this point are slightly disparate. There is some obvious overlap however. The next episode will bring them all together with some of my own work into a more chronological and structured cohesive framework. 97. In this special episode, we feature Drs. Mary Neuburger and Oksana Lutsyshyna, and former SlavX hosts Matthew Orr and Lauren Nyquist who together undertook a phenomenal investigative project in spring 2019 to examine and closely follow Ukrainian youth political engagement during the presidential election in which Volodymyr Zelenskyy ultimately beat incumbent Petro Poroshenko. The team discusses the fascinating process by which they began their research, how they connected with Ukrainian students via Skype (not Zoom!), and what it was like when they eventually traveled to Ukraine itself. The lasting relationships and connections they made during that memorable month abroad in summer 2019 inform their thinking and processing of the War in Ukraine today. Take a listen! Continuing the look at modern history and the set up of our current systems, this episode looks at the why and the how behind much of the corruption and conspiracy behind the scenes on a macro level. It mostly boils down to men wanting to become gods. They want to manipulate the Natural Order and create man and nature in their own image. This is done through technology and biological manipulation. This is the world of eugenics, technocracy, cybernetics, social engineering, and the like. This is the background information for the upcoming episode on the groups and people behind the scenes implementing these ideologies. 18. To understand modern society, we need to understand its foundational systems. To understand these, we must know at least the basics of their origin and influences on them that brought them into modernity. Her stories will thrill, so gather 'round and take a listen. We hope you enjoy! ABOUT THE GUEST https://newageru.hypotheses.org/files/2020/05/F%C3%BCrst-320x320.jpg Juliane Fürst is head of the department of Communism and Society at the Centre of Contemporary History at Potsdam and a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Bristol. She completed a monograph on the culture and history of the Soviet Hippie movement entitled Flowers through Concrete: Explorations in the Soviet Hippieland (OUP 2020). She is also the author of Stalin's Last Generation: Soviet Post-War Youth and the Emergence of Late Socialism and the editor of Dropping Out of Socialism: Alternative Cultures and Lifestyles in the Soviet Bloc (2016). You can find Flowers Through Concrete here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08XJGHT62/ref=dbsadefrwtbiblvppii0 SELECT QUOTES FROM THE EPISODE "I've always... been interested in capturing the feelings and the subjectivities and the emotional subjectivities of people as much as the political developments. It always felt to me that it was a really important part of the story." "In retrospect, I can see that all my topics--they look like choices, but actually these topics found me, and I just sort of wandered around until the topic found me and then I knew it." "I always told my mother, you're very lucky, I'm not punkish, I'm not hippyish... I don't pierce my nose, my ears, whatever. But... interviewing all these hippies, I could suddenly see that actually in my own quiet way, I was quite anarchic and possibly still am..." "The one thing they all had in common was a crazy love of The Beatles... It wasn't only a case of privilege, but quite often it was a case of privilege. In many places, these very early Hippie crowds came from children of the nomenklatura in the Party." "The Soviet Hippieland... is a civilization in its own right, rather than some imitation of a Western movement." "Long hair goes a long way in the Soviet union because it's somethign that was so forbidden... It's like wearing red and white in Belarus was nothing like 2 years ago and now it's a political statement that gets you into prison." "I very much feel that one can only understand a society if you really listen to the pluralities of voices... especially in the outer edges... If you never try to see how far can somebody be from the mainstream of society, then you never get a full picture of it... It really gave me enormous pleasure over the last 10 years... that I'm really preserving something..." "We have come to the point where we've realized that... it isn't anymore all about people doing things or policies, the in-between and the ephemeral and the emotional... are what matters." In Chapter 4 Darwin begins to sketch out his views on how complicated human behaviors, like sacrifice, empathy for others, and group defense would evolve when selection would favor us to act otherwise.Chapter 4 is entitled Comparison of the Mental Powers of Man and the Lower Animals - continued, but the short title at the top of the page is Moral Sense, which suggests what Darwin really thinks he is discussing. although he never clearly defines morality Mark shares with us a couple of definitions of morality and notes that Darwin hints at the idea that morality is actions that we feel we ought to do, not necessarily what we want to do. Later in the chapter Darwin entangles into the concept of morality ideas of choice, doing things that are not innate, and having a sense of what others expect of us, and us wanting to avoid disapprobation from our social group. We discussed altruistic and defensive behaviors exhibited in social animals and asked if those actions were actually moral. Here is an image of a baboon facing off a leopard to protect the baboon troop, is that action moral?James proposed of the idea that there is a set of morals that are independent of religion or culture but are based upon equality and fairness that all rationale people would agree upon. Sarah referred to this as capital M morality and rejected the notion. Mark stayed silent of the idea....Chapter 5 is where Darwin outlines his view that groups selection could explain the shift for moral behaviors, those behaviors that benefit the group at the cost to the individual. Darwin noted that- When two tribes of primeval man, living in the same country, came into competition, if (other circumstances being equal) the one tribe included a great number of courageous, sympathetic and faithful members, who were always ready to warn each other of danger, to aid and defend each other, this tribe would succeed better and conquer the other. Let it be borne in mind how all-important in the never-ceasing wars of savages, fidelity and courage must be. The advantage which disciplined soldiers have over undisciplined hordes follows chiefly from the confidence which each man feels in his comrades. Obedience, as Mr. Bagehot has well shewn, is of the highest value, for any form of government is better than none. Selfish and contentious people will not cohere, and without coherence nothing can be effected. A tribe rich in the above qualities would spread and be victorious over other tribes: but in the course of time it would, judging from all past history, be in its turn overcome by some other tribe still more highly endowed. Thus the social and moral qualities would tend slowly to advance and be diffused throughout the world. We discussed the strengths and weaknesses of group selection argument and also explored the conflicted tone Darwin used in these two Chapter. In these two chapters alone, Darwin used the term "savages" thirty-two times. In the entire text, Darwin used the term "savages" 187 times! We discussed what he meant by that term and considered modern alternative. In this episode Sarah, Mark, and James discuss Chapter 4 & 5 of Darwin's The Descent of Man. Before we got started, James noted that Mark is the campus champion of Crokinole which he plays in his campus office on this board. Mark Jackson's office Crokinole championship arenaThe opening and closing theme to Discovering Darwin is "May" by Jared C. Balogh.Interlude music is Overthrow by Shaolin Dub

Whether one looks at the historical period of the Middle Ages through the Reformation or our modern era through the potential Digital Reformation into technocracy, banking, war, and technology play a huge role. Much of the backdrop and enabling factors are economic in nature and are spurred by new technologies in money and finance as well as new economic models and practices. There are also those who chose to live their own way, apart from the system, whether that be religious or political, and secure for themselves, their families, and their local communities a haven from the ruling institutions vying for power. Ruling institutional structures are the problem. Agorism is the answer. - Website - http://www.ourfoundations.podbean.com/ - Email - ourfoundations@protonmail.com - Patreon page to support / donate - https://www.patreon.com/ourfoundations - Twitter - https://twitter.com/Foundationspc - Medium - https://medium.com/@OurFoundations - Bitcoin Address - 1AZFLCvmfXasChaaecgYMP3vtnUrnLJoY7 - Ethereum - 0x409D0F2766e208C1Ea97fF2429D38a3D9E3abd3a - Zcash - t1SZKfocBcghVMWVCsbSA9zAHr5fzsxi62H - Pivx - D7ziutb5gGNnJ5pXngwa3w9zJj2P1iNzUT - Nano - nano_16gh7igt8zb1cntbmq1hrnmnc9ea9qrj3zycscqywhak5dgtx1gwommekt7r - Music - Gregorian Chant Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License - The Road Home by Alexander Nakarada | https://www.serpentsoundstudios.com, Music promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.com Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) - New Digital War by Groove Bakery | https://groovebakery.com, Music promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.com, Attribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-ND 4.0) - Pied Piper by Shaolin Dub is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 License. - Jet Fueled Vixen Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License - Hard Fragility by Bisou is licensed under a Attribution-NonCommercial License

Episode 4.21 features Andrew Schauer. Andrew completed the undergraduate and graduate degrees in the Snow Science Program of the Earth Science Department at Montana State University. Andrew talks to us about how his research could help the snow and avalanche community better understand what climatic patterns are leading to destructive deep slab cycles. He talks about an efficient way to process large data sets, as well as a couple close calls that left his hair standing up. Musical tracks: Morning Cup by Ketsa and Blessed by Shaolin Dub. Enjoy.

Bbrains… BRAINS! Naw Zombies don’t really like brains, that we know of, LOL. In spite of recent global events (and believe me we did NOT plan this episode to coincide with the Corona Virus), but we’re breaking down all things zombie-fied in this episode. Talking about movies, video games, who would be on our team, what role we play, what we would want to bring, and so forth. Come be a part of our zombie crew, if you dare!New theme song called “Pied Piper” by Shaolin Dub

Hey Hey Hey! Today we’ll be discussing music and music services we have utilized throughout the ages. Some of you are too young or may not remember a time long, long ago when there were no streaming services or MPS players, etc. Listening devices started from OG 8 tracks and vinyls to radio, Zune and MP3 players. We’re also featuring a new theme song! This won’t be our regular theme song but we wanted to change things up a bit and try a new theme song out every few episodes, see which one we like best. Let us know which theme music you prefer our old classic Japanese Melody or today’s new theme song called “Pied Piper” by Shaolin Dub! Turn us up!!
