Ten Ways We Can Learn from King David • Friday Service To Give: www.ToddCoconato.com/give Website: www.PastorTodd.org David is one of the most written-about figures in all of Scripture. He was a shepherd, a warrior, a fugitive, a king, a worshiper, a poet, and a man after God's own heart. He wasn't perfect—but he was postured toward the Lord. His life offers rich lessons in leadership, repentance, worship, endurance, and trust in God's timing. Today, we're going to look at ten powerful ways we can learn from David and apply these lessons in our own lives. 1. God Sees the Heart, Not the Outer Appearance Scripture: “But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.'” — 1 Samuel 16:7 (NKJV) 2. Be Willing to Step Out in Faith When No One Else Will Scripture: “Then David said to the Philistine, ‘You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.'” — 1 Samuel 17:45 (NKJV) 3. Honor Authority Even When It's Difficult Scripture: “The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my master, the Lord's anointed, to stretch out my hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the Lord.” — 1 Samuel 24:6 (NKJV) 4. Encourage Yourself in the Lord During Crisis Scripture: “But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.” — 1 Samuel 30:6 (NKJV) 5. Be Quick to Repent Scripture: “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) 6. Inquire of the Lord Before Making Big Decisions Scripture: “Therefore David inquired of the Lord, saying, ‘Shall I go up against the Philistines?' And the Lord said to David, ‘Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand.'” — 2 Samuel 5:19 (NKJV) 7. Worship God with Abandon Scripture: “Then David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod.” — 2 Samuel 6:14 (NKJV) 8. Be Willing to Wait for God's Timing Scripture: “David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.” — 2 Samuel 5:4 (NKJV) 9. Lead with Justice and Mercy Scripture: “So David reigned over all Israel; and David administered judgment and justice to all his people.” — 2 Samuel 8:15 (NKJV) 10. Leave a Legacy of Worship and Vision Scripture: “Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God. Therefore arise and build the sanctuary of the Lord God…” — 1 Chronicles 22:19 (NKJV) David was far from perfect—but he pursued God with all his heart. He teaches us about resilience in trial, repentance in failure, worship in victory, and faith in the waiting. Let us take these lessons and live like people after God's own heart. Let's be a church that worships boldly, repents quickly, seeks wisdom constantly, and lives with purpose and honor. CCLI: 21943673
Background - Where did this topic come from. It started with conviction. God has really been laying on my heart the need to do a better job of listeningJames 1: 19 19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. I confess…I need to be better at this. You know this…I don't like the silence. I will quickly fill it with my words. Not a great quality for a pastoral counselor/life coach. I am also way too impatience when I am listening to others. It's like I want to speed up their thought and finish their sentence for them if they are struggling. Again….not a good quality for a counselor or coach. But I don't think I'm alone in this. God's been showing me how poorly we as believers are doing in truly listening to others. We're not taking the time to truly listen. So we want to help those who may be listening today how to take time to listen…to God and to others.Acknowledge the Need for a Listening Heart.Be Quick to Listen, Slow to Speak: James 1:19 emphasizes the importance of actively listening before responding. This applies both to hearing from God and engaging with others. Pray for Discernment: Ask God to open your spiritual ears and grant wisdom in understanding His voice and the needs of those around you.Create Space to Hear His Voice: Regular quiet time allows you to tune out distractions and better hear God's gentle promptings (Psalm 46:10). Be still and Know that I am God.Sit in the Silence: Practice not saying the next words, at least for a while. It's not about not talking at all, it's more about letting the thoughts of the other person be spoken without your immediate response. No Need to Share Your Story: Sit in their story and resist the desire to tell your similar or related story. Ex. they tell a story about their troubled teen and you immediately are triggered about your own troubled teen and want to share your story. Keep the focus on their story. Listen with Empathy and Compassion Seek to Understand: Try to see things from the other person's perspective. Ask clarifying questions and show genuine interest in their thoughts and feelings.Hebrews 10:24-25- And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.Offer Support and Encouragement: Let your words and actions reflect Christ's love and compassion 1 Thess 5:11. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.Practice Active Listening: Avoid Clinical or Analytical Speak: Listen for God's Word in Scripture and Daily Life (Psalm 119:105)Regular Bible Study: Seek God in All Things: Put Your Faith into Action: True listening involves responding to what you hear from God and others.Be Obedient to God's Will: Seek to align your life with God's plan and purpose (Romans 12:1-2).Serve Others with Humility: Use your listening skills to minister to the needs of those around you (Galatians 5:13).Avoid Giving Unsolicited Advice: https://rocksolidfamilies.orgSupport the show#Rocksolidfamilies, #familytherapy, #marriagecounseling, #parenting, #faithbasedcounseling, #counseling, #Strongdads, #coaching, #lifecoach, #lifecoaching, #marriagecoaching, #marriageandfamily, #control, #security, #respect, #affection, #love, #purpose, #faith, #affairs, #infidelity

As part of commemoration of Transport Month, Wheel Well in partnership with African Brain Child (ABC) group, supported by Supa Quick, are introducing the "Be Quick to Click Car Seat Drive 2024" effort in October. The initiative aims is to address the critical issue of child road safety and preventative measures around traumatic brain injuries (TBI) among youngsters involved in car accidents. According to research conducted by the African Brain Child (ABC) group in Paediatric Neurosurgery at the University of Cape Town, about 2 000 children aged between 0 to 12 years are treated each year for brain injuries, which are mostly caused by poor vehicle safety measures. Do you get angry easily? Are you ready to snap at the drop of a hat? Anger is a fruit of the flesh, not the Spirit! James makes it a point to say, “Be SLOW to anger!” How can we do that? By doing what he says just before that, “Be QUICK to listen and be SLOW to speak.” The problem with many people is we barely listen, we hear what we want to, and we are thinking about a response as the person is talking. And as soon as they take a breath, no matter if they are finished talking, we interrupt and yell our concerns at them! That is not from God my friends...it's from the flesh. How can we live according to the Spirit of God and let Him lead us? It's a simple as being in the word and obeying what God says on a daily basis. God has given us a choice; we can read His word and obey it...or we can read His word and do our own thing. However, if we live according to our flesh, if we try to have a Savior without the cross, if we haven't crucified our flesh, there will be consequences and they will last for eternity! We may be able to fool a lot of people, but we will NEVER fool God!

If you've ever received the messaging that you can either be a ‘good' woman, OR you can make money, I want you to know that this is simply not true. There is no dichotomy between being a ‘good' woman and having the desire to make a lot of money, especially for coaches. Both of these desires can coexist in a perfectly balanced, integrated way, as long as you're willing to rebel against old paradigms that say you can't have both. Iron Maiden comenzó a escribir material para su siguiente álbum, Somewhere in Time. What Does This Button Do? fue publicado el 19 de octubre de 2017. As COVID-19 struck this past year, we have all been affected in one way or another. Unfortunately, many have been negatively impacted by COVID's health conditions, changes, economic status, and numerous other ways. Specifically, in business, many companies around the world, from start-ups to larger companies, have been forced to close their doors, file for bankruptcy, lay off employees, or think quickly about how to best adapt to the strenuous circumstances. So, what are the most important lessons we can learn from this global pandemic? “When you look at any other major disaster to have taken place throughout history, the world always finds a way to bounce back from the amount of trauma caused by it. Whether it be the Great Depression, World War II, or 9/11, there's a lot you can learn from the response to huge global disasters from the past.” (Source: Keap.com) This is episode 1 of 2. In this episode, we will be discussing some business lessons we can learn from this worldwide pandemic, and how we can use this crisis as an opportunity to pivot, improve, diversify our revenue, and become more compassionate and patient with those around us. Be Quick to Pivot and Change If anything is consistent, change is, and it happens quickly. When change occurs, it's easy to fight against it or resist. Quite often, it's much more difficult to adapt or “give in” to change. Many changes have taken place this year: a worldwide pandemic and its effects on countries, communities, families, individuals, and the workplace. “Businesses have, for a long time, taken for granted just how stable (comparatively speaking) our cultural climate has been and how quickly things can change. Businesses that have been able to pivot amid massive, rapid change have survived. Meanwhile, those that have not been agile have either not survived or have taken a major loss. It's important to see opportunity in the midst of a crisis or confluence of events, and not be upended by the fear the change may pose.” - Steven Le Vine, Grapevine PR & Consulting (Source: Rolling Stone) Many times, it is necessary to pivot or change the direction we are going in with a venture, product, service, etc. In the case of COVID-19, the workplace has pivoted to a remote, work-at-home setting (much more than it used to be), and in many other ways. We need to be prepared to adapt to these changes happening around us. Businesses that don't adapt will suffer challenges such as employees finding a better work-life balance working remotely somewhere else, and clients going to other businesses for help who provide video meetings. “We are in a transitional period and employees are becoming more assertive and clear-headed about what they do and do not want out of their employment. That trend started when the millennial generation entered the workforce, but it has become more pronounced across all generations due to the pandemic. Employers looking to recruit and retain top talent will need to meet the expectations of these employees or risk losing them to competitors who offer more flexibility.” (Source: JD Supra) This crisis has definitely been a tectonic shift that is changing the business landscape, but this has also opened up many doors and created many opportunities for entrepreneurs that were not “typical” before COVID hit. Remote Work Has Many Advantages Remote work has caused many valuable shifts in the workplace. Some of these shifts that will stay, according to Tech Republic, include businesses being more trusting and empowering of employees, managers increasing flexible working hours, virtual teams working across locations and departments, and agile teams forming and disbanding around specific activities. Working from home has definitely been a shift for many businesses and individuals, but it is possible and allows for valuable opportunities such as those previously mentioned. I personally have benefitted from working remotely. It allows me the freedom to interact with my family and help them as needed. It allows me to spend less time away from them. I also feel that working from home avoids many of the distractions that can take place in a typical work environment and gives me more time to focus on creative and priority projects. And, I love the money I'm saving not having to pay rent and all those related expenses. According to Arjun Bajaaj on Forbes, with the necessary tools and resources, remote work has resulted in a much more productive outcome, even more so than in an office environment. We need to consider the long-term potential of working remotely. This can help prepare us for other crises in the future, but it also helps the workforce maintain a better work-life balance, which results in a valuable outcome and decreases the expenses of running an office or renting a space. Many companies have shifted into this remote work environment, and “they're finding it works. Not only are employees able to complete their workload [while dressed comfortably], avoid frustrating commutes, and reduce dry cleaning bills, they're keeping pace with production and morale is high. Some businesses are running with the trend. Twitter and Square have notified employees they can work from home permanently if they choose. Google and Facebook have extended work-from-home options through the end of the year… we may have been thrust into telework, but it seems to be working.” (Source: Zenefits) Diversification Can Provide Stability “Through the pandemic, we've learned to diversify further, because you really never know what will happen.” - Bridget Hilton (Source: LSTN Sound Co.) One of the main tectonic shifts I focus on is recurring revenue, and having multiple streams. When we pour all of our eggs into a single basket, it can be quite dangerous. What if the only revenue stream we have is destroyed overnight? What other revenue is there to rely on? This, unfortunately, was evident as COVID spread. Various stores have been hit hard by the effects of COVID and have had to go out of business either because of the pandemic or because they were barely surviving before it. Diversification of revenue can come in many ways, such as SaaS products, membership sites, online courses, masterminds, recurring product shipments, entertainment subscriptions, etc. Luis Carmona, the founder of Tripboxx, said: “As the owner of a few small businesses (an interior design firm, a small creative agency, and a photography business), I have been told too many times to count, ‘If you focused on just one of your businesses, maybe you can grow that one a bit more.' Now, more than ever, I have never been so glad that I didn't listen to that advice. I understand the reasoning behind the comments, but this pandemic has shown me that having multiple revenue streams in different fields is the way to go. When one type of business hurts, the others may save you from going completely under. A varied business portfolio is key to ensure that you can stay afloat with the natural ebbs and flows of a small business. I will continue this business model to ensure the longevity of my business.” (Source: Spectrum Business) Steve Haffner, the founder of Pinnacle Thinking, was also forced to develop other areas of products and revenue during the pandemic: “As a solopreneur who makes his living as a professional speaker at on-site events, the pandemic completely pulled the rug out from under me. What I have learned is that having multiple delivery methods for my intellectual property is not just as “nice to have” but a necessity. The forced time away from the stage has given me the chance to spend time developing other formats and products that are still true to my brand and expertise.” (Source: Spectrum Business) More Compassion and Patience Despite living through a pandemic, everyone is battling their own struggles or challenges. It's difficult to see many of those challenges. It is important, however, to be aware of the struggles or challenges going on in the lives of our business partners, employees, and co-workers. Add a pandemic to those already current challenges or struggles. “Everyone is dealing with the stresses of this strange season differently, and it is critical to remember that almost everyone is surrounded by shadows you cannot see through Zoom or hear through a phone call. However, these shadows are very real to them and are likely impacting their worldview massively. This is a great time for extra compassion and patience. And the remarkable thing is that this is in no way unique to these times of plague. I find that a valuable thing to reflect upon, and I hope that those of us reminded of that this year go forward with more compassion and patience.” - Tim Fields, Kabam (Source: Rolling Stone) Key Takeaways Here are some of my key takeaways from today's episode: Don't be afraid to pivot or change. Businesses that are able to effectively and quickly pivot when needed are the ones that survive. Crisis opens the door to opportunities. Employees today are more clear about what they want from their employment. We need to try to better understand and meet these expectations as best we can, or risk losing top employees to competitors. Working remotely brings many advantages such as a more convenient work-life balance, not having to commute, decreased office expenses, flexible working hours, more focus time, better family connections, and more agile teams. Diversifying our revenue streams can increase stability, especially during times of crisis. More revenue streams also increase the chances of higher revenue. Everyone has their struggles or challenges with the pandemic. Many are struggling with challenges other than the pandemic. It is important to be aware of others, what they are going through, and to be more patient and compassionate. Want to be a Better Digital Monetizer? Did you like today's episode? Alejandro Chabán is an author, motivational speaker, certified nutrition and wellness consultant, founder and CEO of Yes You Can!®, and is one of the most popular Hispanic celebrities in the entertainment business. He has dedicated his life to sharing his experiences of battling eating disorders and obesity as a teenager, his journey from a bullied kid in school to an admired TV personality and health and wellness expert, and to helping others to transform themselves the way he did. Favorite Success Quote “Feel the fear and do it anyway” Key Points 1. Turn Your Mess into Your Message One of the biggest mistakes that most men make is trying to hide from their past. Men who have suffered from addiction, obesity, depression, or are convicted criminals will try and brush their checkered history under the rug and forget about it. But when they do this, they are doing a disservice to themselves and the world. Because the truth of the matter is that your greatest failures are your greatest assets… Your mess is your message. Don’t discount where you came from or the adversity that you have overcome. It is the adversity, the struggles, and the failures that make you relatable… That gives you power. Men are dying for help… Whether they are trying to beat an addiction to cocaine, overcome their negative self-image, or surmount a deep depression, they need help. And the only people who are truly qualified to help are those individuals who have been in their shoes, who know what they are going through and how to fix it. Do not deprive the world of your most powerful message because you are scared of sharing your mess. Instead, turn your mess into your message and give yourself permission to change the world. 2. You Need to Find Intrinsic Motivation Why do you want to succeed? Is it because you want to piss off your parents? Prove something to your girlfriend? Make your distant relatives proud of you? With all due respect… F*ck that. Creating real success is hard. Really hard. And on your path, you will be presented with obstacles and adversity that seem unconquerable and you will ask yourself on a daily basis “Why am I doing this?” If your only reason for pushing forward is to make someone else happy or to prove something to someone else…. You will fail every single time. However, if you can connect your goals to a deep intrinsic motivation, a motivation that transcends the material goals of this world, a motivation that lights you on fire… Then no obstacle will stand in your way, no adversity will be too challenging, and no setback will prove significant in the long run. Because when you have a strong “Why”, a deep and visceral reason for achieving success that goes beyond your desire for acclaim and financial gain… Then you become unstoppable. 3. Feel the Fear and Do it Anyways As simple as it sounds, the number one thing holding most men back today is fear. They are afraid of losing their comfortable jobs, afraid of ruining their current relationship, afraid of achieving success and alienating the people that they love… They are afraid. And that’s ok. Whenever it comes time to take a big leap in your life, whether it’s quitting a job, proposing to your girlfriend, or dropping everything on a whim to go and work with a mentor… You should be afraid. But the key is to feel the fear and do it anyway. Get scared… Get terrified… Get paralyzed by fear…. And then feel that fear, and take action regardless of your emotional state. When you become a master of fear, you become a master of life. So feel the fear and do it anyway. 4. Be Quick to Act and Quick to Contemplate If you want to achieve real success in your life, then you must start by taking immediate action on your goals and dreams. If you want to start a business, don’t wait until you have a plan and a perfect team. Go register your LLC, buy a new website domain and get started TODAY. If there is a woman in your life whom you are crazy about but haven’t had the courage to ask out yet, grab yourself by the balls, man up, and go ask her out to dinner. If you are overweight and unhealthy, don’t wait until you have all of the information you need to get healthy, just clean out your pantry, take a long walk each morning, and sign up with a personal trainer. Success loves speed. And if you aren’t willing to take decisive action and take it now then your hopes and dreams will be hijacked by the men who will. 5. Realizing that You are Lost is the First Step to Being Found The first step to achieving success is realizing and accepting your current reality. In other words, you cannot be found until you accept that you are lost. Don’t hide from your reality… Accept it. If you are broke, overweight, socially awkward, or off purpose… That’s ok. Accept that things are the way they are and that you and only you have the power to change it. Don’t look at your life through rose colored glasses. Instead, be objective and honest about who you are and how your life looks right now, and once you have a clear picture of your current reality, commit to making a change.
Amanda Kendall talks to Dr. Justin Trosclair DC on A Doctor's Perspective Podcast. CARES Act, paycheck protection program and other loans that help with employee payments and business expenses. Learn what you need to do to get a forgiven loan, the EIDL and ways to pivot. Amanda Kendall clears the confusion. Paycheck Protection Program PPP Can the owner get "unemployment"? Do the employees get unemployment while the doors are closed on lock-down? Are these Paycheck Protection Program loans that a biz can get or are they forgivable? How do we know the difference? How to apply for these programs? Who doesn't qualify? What are the typical rates of interest and pay off lengths? What supporting documents do you need to have for the applications? A percent of the loan has to be for employees (75%) and the rest can go for expenses like rent and commercial mortgage interest and other expenses . However if it is less than that 75% spent on payroll, then the difference becomes a loan. Right now the amount of money you can receive is the employee salaries times 2.5. Is it better to ride it out for 8 weeks and see what happens or should we apply because the limited funds may run out? Also, you can't fire people or reduce salaries. Make sure you have great records and book keeping. Also, tax filed plays a part in the application process. If they quit, what can you do so you don't get this forgiveness turned into a two year loan with a 1% interest rate after all. A company that has 480 employees is going to get a huge sum of money from a bank. Amanda discusses how the banks make money on this program and once again, small businesses like solo or 3 doctor practices are going to get less attention because the banks cut will be so much less. Be Quick but Be Accurate With All the CARES Program Paperwork Should we apply at huge banks, local banks, credit unions or any other options? The PPP is really set up to keep people off unemployment benefits for at least 8 weeks. Any rent deferments? Economic Impact Disaster Loan (CARES) What is the EIDL, who qualifies and what is it for? 2 months of operating expenses with a max of $15,000. Plus Another Type of Loan (CARES) Pretty much you can potentially get $1000 per employee with a max of $10,000. This is a non-payback grant. *If you google sba coronavirus loan you will find the link. Kind of what people would be asking if they owned a biz but couldn't see patients...so they can't pay the bills. Brandon and Jerry discuss the impact that our unchecked emotional triggers in the world, in our relationships and in the workplace. Emotional Triggers Can Ignite a Furious Mob MentalityJerry’s heart sank on January 19 when his wife shared with him a news story about a group of high school students who taunted a Native American at the Lincoln Memorial. The students were reported wearing that famous red “Make America Great Again” hat.The short clip showed white teens surrounding a smaller group of Native Americans, and everything about that clip was infuriating. An image circulated across social media like wildfire showing a MAGA-hat-wearing young man smirking in the face of chanting and drumming Nathan Phillips. It didn’t take long for the Twitter-verse to become angry, speak its mind, and call for the worst to happen to these students and their families.
