In this episode we talk about the ways of staying active during a busy life. It happens to the best of us. We plan to get any activity or workout in, but then the day gets away from us. Whether the day never lets up, or it just feels like "what's the point now" it doesn't get done for the rest of the day. Use the points in this episode to help fit in your fitness and time for you. When you're busy, it's essential to find creative ways to stay active. Here are some strategies:1. **Break it Down:** Fit in short bursts of activity throughout your day, even if it's just 10 minutes at a time.2. **Maximize Efficiency:** Choose workouts that give you the most bang for your buck, like HIIT or circuit training.3. **Prioritize Activities:** Identify activities that you enjoy and that give you the most benefit, then prioritize them in your schedule.4. **Incorporate Movement:** Look for opportunities to move more during your daily tasks, like pacing while on phone calls or doing squats while waiting for food to cook.5. **Schedule Workouts:** Treat exercise as non-negotiable appointments in your calendar to ensure they happen.6. **Be Flexible:** Don't get discouraged if your routine gets disrupted. Be flexible and find alternative ways to stay active.7. **Use Technology:** Utilize fitness apps or online workout videos for quick and convenient exercise sessions.8. **Combine Activities:** Incorporate physical activity into activities you already do, like walking meetings or taking the stairs instead of the elevator.9. **Delegate and Share Responsibilities:** Delegate tasks when possible to free up time for exercise, and share responsibilities with family or colleagues to lighten your load.10. **Stay Consistent:** Consistency is key. Even small, consistent efforts can add up to significant benefits over time.

Today with us on the Incite Change Podcast, Coach Mauro sits down with Petra Burnaru. Petra, a certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist, and a registered Kinesiologist, was exposed to fitness at a young age by participating in several extracurricular activities. Coming from a physical background, she knew pursuing studies in Kinesiology would be her obvious choice. In her first year at university, she became uncertain about Kinesiology as it was a vast profession. At that point, and not yet knowing what route she wanted to take, she decided to go to college and obtained a diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion. After completing her college education and gaining a personal training certificate, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and Health Science and a Master's of Fitness Science, both from York University. With over ten years of experience in the Fitness Industry, her experience expands from working with the general public as a personal trainer to fitness testing for high endurance professions such as Hydro One field workers and firefighters to currently working as Clinical Lead at a rehabilitation facility. Listen as she shares her insights on the unlimited opportunities available to improve your health and fitness. I want to dive into a lesson I am actively learning in my life, which is to do nothing. I've been thinking about how my clients and listeners of Date Brazen can apply this lesson to their dating lives too. So yes, this week, I am inviting you to: Do nothing. Doing nothing is a key part of the intentional effort you are making. Intentional effort leads to intentional results. BUT, intentional action doesn't always mean BEING ACTIVE or constantly DOING. No, it can also mean laying down, deleting the dating app for a week (Yes!), and most importantly, being intentional about rest. Being Active at Work (0:00:00)For most of us that work, we do a lot of sitting during the day. We sit in our cars, we sit at our desks, and we park as close as we can to our office so that we don't have to walk too far. While it isn't life-threatening in any way, sitting for long periods of time can be bad for our health. If you have an apple watch, then it probably tells you to stand at least once every hourto help you stay active. But for those of us who don't have one... what can we do stay active while at work or at home? Here to answer this question and share her tips for physical activity throughout the day is Amber Worthen, a registered dietician and personal trainer.   Better Angels (0:13:19)I think one of the most frustrating things in the world is discussing politics, especially with people we disagree with. A recent survey showed that over 80% of both Democrats and Republicans agreed that “people of the opposite political party are VERY unfavorable.” Republicans and Democrats don't even agree on what issues should be top priorities for the nation. It feels like the divide between political parties is deeper than ever. Having conversations about political beliefs shouldn't be taboo. We want to be able to connect with people even when we disagree with them. So, we invited Emily Taylor, conflict coach and certified mediator, to talk about how her nonprofit Better Angels Alliance is helping to overcome aggressive polarization.  Workplace Friendships (0:35:01)Whether you work long hours or part-time, you probably spend almost as much time with your coworkers as you do your own family. Developing friendships with these people can be a good way to make your job more enjoyable. In fact, a survey done in 2014 shows that people are three times more likely to say that they enjoy their jobs when they have friends in the workplace. So what are these work friendships supposed to look like? Today we are talking with Dr. Jessica Methot, an associate professor of Human Resource Management at Rutgers University, about coworker conversations.

You can find good as new, trendy clothes at thrift stores for cheap prices... IF you're willing to sift through all the clutter. But the stock of some thrift stores is overwhelming and makes thrifting seem like it's just not worth it. But some people are so good about finding cute pieces from thrift stores, and we want to know how they do it. Here to share with us some of her thrifting tips is Letitia Kui, fashion expert and youtuber.   Kobe's Legacy (1:05:47)With the death of NBA star Kobe Bryant and his daughter last week, many of us have found ourselves contemplating our own lives. I think it made us all realize that life is short, unexpected things are sure to happen, and every minute is valuable. For so many of us, Kobe was a hero who led an inspiring life. He entered the NBA at just 18 years old, he won an Oscar for a short film, and he was a loving husband and father. So like Kobe, how can we live our lives to the fullest and make every moment count? Don Goewey is a former Department of Psychiatry Manager at Stanford Medical School who joins us to share a method forliving a fulfilling life and finding joy in the little things.  Weekend Review (1:25:06)Lisa and Richie talk about what movies are coming to theaters and streaming this weekend, as well as what is happening around the country.

‘You will by and large become what those closest to you EXPECT you to become’ was a phrase I heard a number of years ago from the great motivational speaker Tony Robbins. I couldn’t agree more. People around us have a HUGE impact on us but most of the time we don’t actually recognise it. The effect is going on below the surface. It is happening at an unconscious level. A lot of our behaviour just ‘mirrors’ what others close to us are doing. During this podcast we take a really good and hard look at what we need to do to ‘create’ our own tribe. To actually create an environment that supports your dreams and ambitions To ACTIVELY seek out the very people who can help us on our journey to being a full version of our capabilities. The stunning research from Rose McDermott about the actual jaw dropping effect others have on us. This is science backing up what we know to be true but often ignore The ‘Mind Factor’ community and being with people who share a like minded vision We talk about Energy givers and energy takers   People you encounter on a regular basis will either GIVE us energy or they will DRAIN us of energy and we need to be VERY vigilant that our life is not filled with energy drainers.   The concept of ‘rocks’ and ‘sponges’ How the rocks don’t want to know anything new.
