Tap into your midnight mind and supercharge your writing! Today, we are "Dreaming on the Page" with author of seven books and Certified Dream Professional Tzivia Gover. Tzivia tells us she started paying attention to her dreams because of her many nightmares about scary dogs, and it has been a long road both in befriending her dreams and in improving her mental health. She gives suggestions about using dreams to solve writer's block as well as for the source for poems and songs. She talks about her book "Joy in Every Moment" about mindfulness and meditation and suggests that inner work can be viewed from a physical fitness perspective in which we start by taking little steps such as incorporating gratitude into our regular mental fitness routine. We take a call from Jenny from Massachusetts who shares one of her poems which was inspired by both dreams and waking life events. Tzivia offers online workshops including a first-Tuesday-of-the-month "Dreaming on the Page" writing circle. She will be presenting a "Lucid on the Page" version of this workshop live at the IASD conference in Ashland OR June 17-22 which you can learn about at asdreams.org. BIO: Tzivia Gover, Certified Dreamwork Professional, is the author of seven books, most recently "Dreaming on the Page: Tap into Your Midnight Mind to Supercharge Your Writing". She also offers 1:1 dreamwork, and workshops on dreams, writing, and everyday joy to empower people to wake up to their best selves. She is interested in and endlessly curious about the ways dreams serve individuals and the collective for guidance and healing, as well as the scientific, psychological, and spiritual aspects of dreams and creative writing. Also can dreams open our minds to other consciousnesses? Our guest today is professor emeritus Curt Hoffman, PhD. Curt is an archeologist and an anthropologist. He starts by describing that several big dreams shared with colleagues inspired his interest in dreaming. He has been a member of IASD (International Association for the Study of Dreams, asdream.org) since 1997. We play several pieces of Curt's music whose creation was guided by explicit instructions from his dreams. He produced 768 pieces of music in 19 months and has assigned one to each card in the Tarot deck. His website sharing these pieces will be up soon. Our show music creator Rick Kleffel takes the mic to ask if Curt knows of the work of Bill Nelson who has similar dream-inspired pieces plus Rick shares his own recent dream-inspired music story. We then speak about Curt's book Stone Prayers about identifying almost 6000 sacred sites on the Eastern Seaboard in which he provides evidence that these sites were were constructed as sacred places by the indigenous peoples of the region. Curt touches into his experiences around consciousness sharing during dreaming. He shares his dream from that morning about a liger (lion and tiger cross-breed). We take two callers: Sonia from Massachusetts asks about whether the IASD conference will come to Bridgewater soon. And Tony Russomano relays a question from Cindy from Santa Rosa about an example of some of the dreams that inspired his music. DreamStar Free Online Counseling, using dreams in therapy and her experiences with dream telepathy. Our conversation this week is with Professor Suzanne Maniss of U Texas Rio Grande. We start out talking about how little clinical health workers learn about dreams which is similar to the small amount that medical doctors learn about nutrition. The dominant therapy mode is currently cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) which is geared toward controlling symptoms rather than shifting underlying causes. Suzanne describes this as a "whack a mole" approach. Suzanne describes her work with Scott Sparrow, PhD and how they teach graduate students to incorporate dreaming into therapy. You can apply for free sessions from these students and also take courses to learn about the technique at DreamStarInstitute.com. After the break we got more personal and speculative. Suzanne's son Jeremy called in from Dallas and shared how they used to talk about his dreams on the way to school. Suzanne then shared an uncomfortable experience of dream telepathy. Finally, we took a call from Ray of Santa Cruz who synchronistically wanted to ask about dream telepathy and had clicked into the system before we started talking about it. BIO: Dr. Suzanne Maniss is professor and chair of the Department of Counseling at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Suzanne is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and first became interested in dreams during her graduate studies, as a result of which she spent ten years in Jungian analysis. Throughout her academic career, Dr. Maniss has found that students are very interested in dream work and has been able to share basic theories and techniques through elective courses and professional development workshops in the community. Most recently, she has collaborated with Dr. Scott Sparrow to bring these ideas to the students at U Texas, Rio Grande. Contact me if you'd like to get in touch with our guest. What does the Bible teach us about how to understand our own dreams? In this Christmas Eve edition of the Dream Journal, we speak with Carol Oschman about her book, Biblical Dream Study. The Bible mentions dreams 134 times, yet the dreams of modern-life parishioners are rarely mentioned from the pulpit. Carol Oschmann shares with us practical advice about understanding our own dreams derived from looking at the way that the Biblical figures interpreted theirs. She shares many Bible dream stories including Jacob, Solomon and of course, Joseph and his famous interpretation of the dream of the seven fat cows being eaten up by the seven lean cows. For example, Carol suggests that we, like Jacob, turn and face the beings that are chasing us in our own dreams, either in the dream itself or in waking life imagination. She also defines what she calls "Golden Sword" dreams akin to Judas' dream of being given a sword to defeat his enemies. These are dreams in which we are given tools to accomplish our goals. She gives examples of how she and others have been helped by ideas presented in dreams. We finish by touching on how dreams help with the grief of bereavement and Carol shares her own journey of recently losing her husband. BIO: Carol began her journey with dreams due to a spiritual awakening in 1985. She's traveled and spoken across the country and in England, taught dream interpretation in a prison for three years, led several dream groups. The spiritual experience was so exciting, that's all she wanted to talk about. Unfortunately the pastor in her Methodist church didn't agree and asked her not to come back. This book “Biblical Dream Study” in a way is her answer to those Christians who don't believe that God speaks to us in dreams. (Note that the correct way to pronounce Carol's last name is "Osh-man".) Sarah describes how she has been lucid dreaming since a baby and often returns to the same dream places again and again. We talk about the Asklepion Dream Temple healing traditions including inductions that will maximize your chances of encountering gods and goddesses in dreams or their avatars including snakes or dogs. She speaks about Mnemosyne (pronounced knee-moss-in-nay) who was the mother of the Muses and served to guide the deceased to Hades. Drinking from her pool ensures remembrance. Sara describes several techniques to enhance dream recall including practicing by writing down a waking day as if it were a dream. She also speaks about cognitive enhancers that can increase the frequency of lucid dreaming and ends by describing her ongoing podcast releases and some of her many upcoming events. BIO: Sarah Janes is a hypnotherapist, a lucid dreamer and an studier of Egyptian antiquities. She hosts many online events, schools and podcasts regarding ancient mysteries. Her new book is called Initiation into Dream Mysteries: Drinking from the Pool of Mnemosyne which refers to the Greek goddess of memory, sense-making and eloquence. Mnemosyne is the archetypal deity of the Asklepion dream temple tradition. Sarah's book explores the history and culture of the dream as medicine in the Western esoteric tradition and is designed to lead the reader on a self-initiatory journey inspired by the dream philosophies and sleep temple systems of our wisest ancient ancestors. A conversation with an author of four books about dreaming, we talk about the ins and outs of nightmares and how to stop them. AKA RadOwl, our guest is Jason DeBord, moderator for the reddit page r/dreams. With over 200,000 members, it is by far the largest dream-sharing community in the world. Jason starts by talking about a 30-year ordeal that began as a nightmare when he was a child and ended with an exorcism by a shaman. As a way of dealing with nightmares, we speak about lucid dreaming and addressing the intelligence behind the dream. We also speak about trauma and how nightmares and other dreams start to evolve once we start to work with them. Jason suggests that the main cause for nightmares is a conflict between the conscious and unconscious minds. We take a call from Ronnie from Santa Cruz who tells about a friend who shared with him a dream about an owl. We end by musing about why dreams speak in symbols instead of more directly. BIO: J.M. Reproductive Freedom: Essential for Mental Health

State of Mind

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 30, 2022 59:16

Episode #49: Since the Supreme Court overturned the reproductive rights protected by the Roe V. Wade decision, the news has been filled with talk about laws restricting access to reproductive health services. This upheaval is not just about state legislatures, federal laws, or religious beliefs…it's about people and their tender experiences. This episode features a collection of nuanced and highly personal stories about reproductive decisions and how these choices impact mental health. How each person makes meaning of their experience varies greatly, but what's common to all of the stories is that carrying a pregnancy to term and giving birth is not a minor incident. It is a major event in one's life: physically, hormonally, financially and often emotionally. Some of what you'll hear may be difficult; these stories may challenge your beliefs or values, but we urge you to listen and challenge yourself to hold the complexity, the diversity, and the common humanity in each tale. Our feature story is by writer, teacher and poet Patrice Vecchione. Joining me to listen, reflect on, and respond to these important reproductive health stories is Alissa Perrucci, PhD, the Counseling & Administrative Manager at the Women's Options Center at San Francisco General Hospital who has worked in abortion counseling for nearly two decades. Dreams often bring simple moments of magic that can make all the difference, and every dream has hidden jewels ready to be uncovered. We talk today to dream guide and professional gemologist Jane Carleton. Jane describes how she knows when a person has found the right gem for them because their bodies change and their eyes light up. This is similar to dream work when an "Aha!" will light up a dreamer often without them being able to explain it. Jane shares stories about asking for waking life magic and about using talismans to help remember the dream. She also speaks about waking life inner voice experiences and shares a moment where that voice saved her during a carjacking. We take a call from Walter who shares an intense nightmare of a boy who is attacked by two giant gems. BIO. Jane E. How does the Divine show up in dreams? How does trauma? The Dream Journal today hosts a conversation about the Wisdom of the Soul with Astrologer and Dreamworker Jill Eras. Let the exploration of self and soul begin! Jill has been interested in astrology from age four when she asked the librarian for books on Saturn. She describes soul as the timeless part of us and says that trauma is what breaks us open for the light to shine in. She then describes how dreams saved her marriage. We take a call from Kelly from Virginia who describes a dream about a couple in bed where the woman is giving birth. She says she has been feeling bizarrely happy lately. BIO: Jill was led into her exploration of the soul as a young child, responding to inherent curiosity and longings to know exactly what the solar system was trying to tell her. Jill discovers and works with the soul's language as an astrologer with Wisdom of the Soul Astrology. She frequently brings dreams into astrology sessions as well as sessions committed wholeheartedly to the soul message of the dream. The birth chart and the dream are the blueprints of our truth, brought to consciousness for exploration. Do you want to make your own brain a safe haven? We explore the idea that healing happens when we resonate with other human beings and with ourselves. In this replay from a popular show recorded in January 2021, our guest neuroscience educator Sarah Peyton talks about how our inner voice is part of our default mode network, the automatic part of the brain that is formed by our experiences, and about how we typically model our own thoughts after our parents' mental habits. We talk about inner voices and how we can tame them by offering them empathy guesses in the mode of NonViolent Communication (NVC). Sarah offers suggestions about using these techniques to help people working with their dreams. We take a call from Jaya from Hawaii who shares a series of recurring dreams about being trapped underwater by huge waves. Sarah works with Jaya helping her to have a sense of accompaniment with these big images and with the big feelings that come with them. We end with Sarah sharing that she has been incubating dreams of beauty. Traumatic Brain Injuries and Mental Health

Episode #46: An inside look at traumatic brain injury, or “TBI,” and how these injuries influence mental health. People of all ages get them in a variety of ways—from sports injuries, to car accidents, to domestic falls and many of these individuals develop mental health symptoms that can last for months or even years. This show was recorded in Santa Cruz, California, one of the surfing capitals of the country and while mild traumatic brain injuries such as concussions are common in many sports, head injuries are the most common injury among surfers, comprising one-fourth of the total. Children and youths are particularly susceptible and those who sustain even a mild brain injury (often referred to as a concussion), have a 40% increased risk of developing mental health symptoms. Because these issues can appear many months after the injury, doctors and care providers need to pay particular attention to the mental state of patients long after a traumatic brain injury of any severity. Our guest and author JoAnne Jones talks about her recovery from a severe traumatic brain injury that occurred when she was assaulted and robbed. Also with us is rehabilitation and physical medicine specialist Dr. Jennifer Yu who shares information about the mental health symptoms, treatment approaches, and recovery strategies associated with mild to severe traumatic brain injuries. Anxiety, depression and other daily challenges are real, powerful and inescapable and they have information for you on your path of individuation. A dream provides a kind of embodiment of current of psychic energy; we can welcome it in and offer it tea and cookies as if it were a person that we just met. Jonathan recommends that we let the dream spread its tentacles by holding the tension of the opposites that the dream presents to see what emerges. He urges that we learn to trust that the dreams are acting like tree roots, breaking up the concrete of our stuck places. BIO: Jonathan Hyland received his doctorate in depth psychology, aka analytical psychology, from Pacifica Graduate Institute. Jonathan first developed his methodology of archetypal dreamwork through his dissertation in which he explored his experiences of anxiety as embodied experiences of the unconscious. After teaching depth psychology at the collegiate and corporate level for 6 years and finally returning to his own Jungian analysis, Jonathan formalized his methodology as a practice of Dreamwork that he could offer to individuals. The upheaval in the world today is evidence that the cultural myth that we in the western world are living under is undergoing a radical evolution. Our old myths are dying. What will be our new myth and will humanity survive the chaotic transformation? Christine shares the stories of two scientists who used astral travel to explore the nature of reality in a systematic way and developed an institute called the Monroe Institute to research the phenomenon of out of body experiences. The results of this research suggest that we each contribute to the evolution of consciousness through our own personal growth. Dreams and meditation enhance this process by reflecting back to us our own particular fears. We take a call from Lucille from Cambria who shares with us her experience of the nine dimensions meditation which leads us to a discussion of somatics or body awareness in personal evolution.  We end with Christine talking about the power of rebirthing breathwork as a healing modality. Christine mentions the books: Memories, Dreams and Reflections by Carl Jung, Quantum Questions by Ken Wilbur, The Answer to Job by Carl Jung and The Miracle of the Breath by Andy Caponigro. Lucille references the book Alchemy of Nine Dimensions by Barbara Hand Clow. BIO: Christine Barrington is a Transformational Coach and supports individuals and groups to artfully engage their inner world through exploring dreams, art, and inner visioning in order to effect potent positive change in their lives. Dreaming of Animals with Keith Salmon: Replay

The Dream Journal

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 25, 2022

Keith Salmon is a world-renowned nature videographer. He shares with Katherine how he was inspired by a series of distressing dreams to leave his academic job to become more connected to nature. He eventually found his calling as a videographer. We talk about the ability of animals to be present in their environment while humans have been sheltered from the consequences of their actions. Keith brings up the idea of Indra's net of gems as a way of thinking about this web of natural relationships and says that nature invites us to become a gem in a net of gems. We then talk about how to work with the animals that show up in our dreams. Keith recommends exploring our own associations and then also to dig into the science around these animals to find out who they really are. There are times when we can follow our dream animals into waking life by visiting their habitats. Keith then shared some of his own stories about following his dream animals into waking life, and we talk about the quality of enchantment that happens as the veil between dreamtime and awake time thins. We take a call from Sylvia from northern Ontario. She reminds us that we dream not only about wild animals, but also about domesticated animals such as our pets and also talks about how when she dreams for global healing, which is a part of her regular practice, that the dreams that come are often about nature and stillness and peace. Keith quotes several memorable passages, one from writings by Eagle Chief Letakos-Lesa of the Pawnee People, and one from David Wagoner which encourages us that when we feel lost, we should stand still and let the forest find us. And finally he quotes the following: “Once for each thing. Just once; no more. And we too, just once. And never again. But to have been this once, completely, even if only once: to have been at one with the earth, seems beyond undoing.” — Rainer Maria Rilke (Duino Elegies) We played clips from nature sound recordist Lang Elliot: the Cades Cove Coyotes and the Symphony of Loons, both of which are available on SoundCloud. Bio: Ronald Keith Salmon was raised on a small sheep farm on Vancouver Island, Canada. This intimacy with animals ignited a sense of wonder in the mystery and the miracle of the Natural World. To deepen this sense of wonder, Keith studied animal science at university—where he received a B.Sc. in Animal Science and a Ph.D. in Animal Genetics. After a tenure as a Professor of Animal Biotechnology, Keith's dreams led him to leave the academic world to engage more directly with the animals and plants who share this planet. Keith interweaves original videography, poetry, prose, sound, and song to explore the intimate relationship between the Natural World and the World of Dreams. His work represents a constellation of the insights and revelations gained through his lifelong exploration of Nature's mysteries through the lenses of both biological science and art—and his 35-year apprenticeship in the study of dreams. Keith's performances and presentations awaken a sense of wonder where the creatures in our dreams may become mentors who provide guidance on how we may walk in beauty on this earth. Sleep Loss and the Nature of Consciousness with Rubin Naiman, PhD

Sleep loss is at epidemic levels today. What are we missing out on? How can dreams help cure insomnia? Because of what our guest calls, "Wake centrism," Americans are subject to hyperarousal, and 60-70 million of us have some level of insomnia. This is an epidemic levels of sleep and dream loss. We also talk about consciousness: our fear of it and our innate need to expand it. Dr. Naiman proposes that dreaming is a dialogue with the unconscious and that sleeping can be approached as a kind of spiritual practice. He describes our fear of the unconscious and our innate need to expand consciousness. Dr. Naiman will be a keynote speaker at the upcoming Tucson conference for the International Association for the Study of Dreams. BIO: Rubin Naiman, PhD, is a psychologist, sleep and dream specialist and clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Arizona's Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. Dr. Naiman is a pioneer in the development of integrative approaches to sleep and dream disorders, integrating conventional sleep science with depth psychological and transpersonal perspectives. He founded and directed sleep programs at Canyon Ranch and Miraval Health Resorts. He is also the director of NewMoon Sleep, LLC, an organization that offers a range of sleep and dream related services, trainings and consultation internationally. Dr. Naiman maintains a global telehealth practice and has worked with a diverse clientele including Fortune 500 CEOs, professional athletes, statesmen and entertainers. He is the author of several groundbreaking works on sleep and dreams including consumer books, audiobooks and articles as well as medical book chapters and papers. Dr. Naiman's primary interest is the field of consciousness, which includes the flow of sleep, dreams and waking. He believes that these states can be best understood in context, that is, in relationship to one another. Dr Naiman has long been concerned about evidence suggesting that we are at least as dream deprived as we are sleep deprived. This silent epidemic of dream loss is symptomatic of our culture's devaluation of dreaming, which stems in large part from a mistrust of the unconscious. He sees cultivating a relationship with the dream world as a personal spiritual practice that has positive transpersonal ramifications. Are you ready for a dream revolution? If our guest Dr. Catherine Shainberg reads it right, this could be as big as the 16th century reformation. Catherine starts by describing how she was told as a child to stop "dreaming her life away", and yet here she is now with a full-time career of teaching people through the School of Images to bring more imagination into their lives. Dr. Shainberg offers to explore Katherine's recent dream of a mysterious and apparently unstable stone edifice. She associates the wall with my recent feelings of anxiety and encourages me to erase the image. She helps me to find a new image to replace it. We then speak about how the modern world floods us with images so that our inner faculty for imagination is atrophied. Catherine says that dreams show us the truth of our current situation which isn't always a pretty picture and so our dreams are not always peaceful. She describes that we are in the midst of a Dream Revolution in which we are finally realizing that mental processes are not enough to solve our problems. In the final segment, Ray calls in from Santa Cruz, and Dr. Shainberg leads him on a visualization to help him discover which of his burning questions are the most important. How Dreams Impact Our Mental Health. Our guest today is IASD president, Michelle Carr, PhD. We talk about Michelle's research in which cognitive methods are used to induce lucid dreaming in the sleep laboratory and about using lucid dreams to treat nightmares. Michelle describes some of the new dream engineering tools that are available including devices to induce lucid dreams or to deepen sleep. Michelle will be giving a keynote speech at the July Tucson IASD conference entitled "From Nightmares to Lucid Dreams: How Dreams Impact Our Mental Health." Bio: Michelle Carr, PhD, is a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester in New York, where she works in the Sleep and Neurophysiology Laboratory. Michelle mainly studies the structure and functions of dreaming – what's happening in the brain and body while we dream, and how this influences our waking life. She studies treatments for nightmares including lucid dreaming and also dream engineering—new techniques and technologies designed to influence dreams to benefit well-being. Michelle Carr is President of the International Association for the Study of Dreams. She writes for Psychology Today, and other magazines. Metaphors in American Dreaming with Jeannette Mageo

Metaphors and the Self in a Zombie Pandemic Dream. We talk with Professor Jeannette Mageo, PhD about her lifelong work and many books on dreams and also about her upcoming keynote presentation at the IASD conference in Tucson in July. Jeannette lived in Santa Cruz for years getting her PhD in the UCSC history of consciousness department and has a fond spot in her heart for the town. We discussed the idea that Jung's views, though typical for the time, would currently be described as racist. As part of her position with Washington State University, she has an extensive dream collection and describes the three typical kinds of dream metaphors that she finds: sensory, cultural and personal. Typical American metaphors include the American dream model for achieving success and the pin-up model of feminine sexuality. We talk about how doing our inner work contributes to cultural evolution and how nightmares are usually about threats to our identity. We take a call from Skyler in Pullman WA who shares with us some of her research into how dreams changed pre-pandemic to during the pandemic. BIO: Jeannette Mageo is Professor of Anthropology at Washington State University.  Her work focuses on dreaming and the self, on child development, and on how subjectivity, identity, and emotion evolve out of cultural and historical experiences. Her manifold writings on dreams show that cultural models tie the most profound aspects of subjectivity to politics and public culture, inscribing relations of privileging and marginalization within the self that generate anxiety and resistances registered and negotiated in the imaginary realm. Professor Mageo has published 11 books with major academic presses, including 4 on dreams. Find her here: https://anthro.wsu.edu/faculty-and-staff/jeannette-mageo/ Her books include: Jeannette Mageo. 2022. The Mimetic Nature of Dream Mentation: American Selves in Re-formation. Palgrave Macmillan. Jeannette Mageo and Robin Sheriff (eds.). 2021. New Directions in the Anthropology of Dreaming. New York: Routledge. Jeannette Mageo. 2016. Dreaming Culture: Meanings, Models, and Power in U.S. American Dreams. New York: Palgrave Macmillan, paperback edition. Jeannette Mageo (ed.). 2003. Lucid dreaming and dream-inspired music. Our guest this week is host of the podcast "The Dreams That Shape Us." Steven Ernenwein's interest in dreaming started with a spontaneous lucid dream he had in college. He shares it with us and how it changed his life, moving him toward a place where he has grown deeper into trusting his inner voice and an awareness that this is a spiritual universe. We talk about whether all of a dreams parts are parts of the dreamer or whether outside influences appear in our dreams. Plus, Steven talks about the ethics of controlling your lucid dream and describes his voyage with nightmarish characters from vanquishing them to learning to have compassion for them. We talk a call from Ray from Santa Cruz with questions about lucid dreaming. Steven has suggestions about how to address the dream consciousness in the dream once lucid. We end by talking about his podcast The Dreams That Shape Us and about his presentation at the upcoming IASD conference in Tucson in July. BIO: Steven Ernenwein is a dream-inspired hip hop/singer songwriter and has been a dreamworker and avid lucid dreamer for the past 17 years. Steven also cohost's the storytelling podcast, The Dreams that Shape Us, with J.M. DeBord where they are obliterating the Western myth that dreams mean nothing, by offering up story after story of how dreams have deeply impacted and shaped the dreamer's inner and outer lives. We know that humanity originated in Africa. Africa is therefore at the root of all that makes us human: our spirituality, civilization, arts, sciences, philosophy, and even our conscious and unconscious minds. Today we welcome back poet and author Dr. Edward Bruce Bynum. We talk about his new book Our African Unconscious: The Black Origins of Mysticism and Psychology and about what he will be presenting at his welcoming keynote at the IASD Tucson conference in July. Bruce starts by marveling about how little we have changed biologically in 50,000 years yet how far we have come culturally and scientifically. We talk about how mysticism emerges out of physical and biological experiences and about the flexibility of our experience of time. We go into the history of mysticism and how it was not always dominated by old, white men including discussion of female priests of the ancient Asclepion temples and the growing modern recognition of Native Americans and other aboriginal cultures. We touch on OBEs, NDEs, precognitive dreams and pyramids as places if initiation. We take a call from Ray from Santa Cruz who brings up topics of life after death and past lives. He shares a short, powerful dream about a scarab. Bruce ends by reading his poem, “I dream”. BIO: Edward Bruce Bynum, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist and Diplomat in clinical psychology. He is nationally certified in biofeedback and is a senior fellow in the National Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback. His focus is psychosomatic medicine, hypnosis and individual psychotherapy, and he is currently in private practice in Hadley Massachusetts. His most recent books include Our African Unconscious, Dark Light Consciousness (both of which are now available in audio form) and The Dreamlife of Families. New poetry books include The First Bird, The Magdalene Poems, The Luminous Heretic, and Gospel of the Dark Orisha. He recently received an APA award for “an outstanding and lasting contribution to the exploration of the farther reaches of the human spirit”. Contact him at ObeliskFoundation.com.
