ABOUT CLASS ACTIONiHeartRadio and Sound Argument LLC Announce the launch of "Class Action," a New Documentary Series About the Next Generation of LawyersiHeartRadio, the no. 1 podcast publisher according to Podtrac, and Sound Argument LLC have launched a new documentary podcast titled "Class Action." Hosted by Katie Phang, a trial lawyer, anchor, and host for MSNBC and Peacock, the 12-part podcast series will track a diverse cast of outstanding law students who are battling it out in mock trial competitions across the country. The first two episodes debuted on June 7 and can be heard on iHeartRadio and all other major platforms. The budding young lawyers on "Class Action" are extraordinary, bright, ambitious and sometimes ruthless. They are poised to enter a justice system that is under intense public scrutiny. And jury trials-a bedrock of a fair justice system-are becoming rare. Prosecutors aggressively push plea deals on defendants, while defense attorneys, often untrained in courtroom procedure, urge them to accept. But in the wake of high-profile verdicts like the George Floyd case, and with the growth in trial "mooting"/mock trialing at major law firms, trial advocacy training is gaining popularity. Mock trial tournaments are quickly becoming a necessary and exciting kind of collegiate sport. One tournament director, who works full time as a homicide investigator, sees it this way:"All of a sudden we take lawyers, they graduate law school, and we expect them to walk into a courtroom and talk about life and death and millions of dollars without any practice. Think about music, playing the violin in your basement. And then, all of a sudden, walking into Carnegie Hall one day and playing for the first time. It would never happen in music. It would never happen in sports. Why should it happen in law?," said Jared Rosenblatt, Hofstra University.Host Katie Phang will guide us through these young lawyers' stories, disentangling the complexities of American law along the way. Listeners will meet Andy Vizcarra, a first-generation American whose parents emigrated from Mexico to Texas and have worked tirelessly at their restaurant to put their daughter through law school; Tyler Volesky, a young Native American politician, now a law student in South Dakota; Ellie Sands and Anjani Shah-part of a team of activists from Brooklyn Law-who battle for justice not only in mock trial but in real-life legal clinics; DeAndre Bell, a self-styled "church boy" from Houston, who plans to run for President in 2040; and Lajeanne Shelton, the powerful lion of the Dillard team who bristles at comments that she's too aggressive in court."Working on this podcast and meeting these trial students and coaches has re-affirmed my faith in the crucial roles that jury trials play in our lives," said Phang. "Over the course of a year, I've met a group of inspired coaches who recognize the value of investing in the next generation of trial attorneys. And I am thrilled to witness students who have overcome significant obstacles to learn and honor the craft of courtroom procedure. 'Class Action' is a breath of fresh air in these troubled times. It's a reminder of why I became a trial lawyer in the first place--- to defend our democratic judicial system."Producers Lisa Gray and Kevin Huffman spent a year recording the grueling bootcamps, scrimmages and competitions with law teams from Brooklyn Law, St. Mary's University in San Antonio, and the University of South Dakota. Listeners will hear the young lawyers reach near-exhaustion arguing cases at high-stakes tournaments. The producers also followed an undergraduate team from Dillard University in New Orleans trying to bounce back from the twin disasters of Covid-19 and Hurricane Ida to make a Cinderella run at the national championship. Lawyers, law students and any listener who loves a good story will be caught up in the drama that unfolds, armchair-quarterbacking the cases. Judging judges. Predicting decisions. We'll hear from St. Mary's trial coach AJ Bellido de Luna, a former US Marine, turned cop, turned advocate. He loves his job and protects his students like the warrior he's always been. "I put them through a boot camp in the summer," he said. "I want them to be good workers, willing and if they have a chip on their shoulder, fine, I can deal with that. I have a chip, too." At South Dakota University's Knudson School of Law, its coach, Professor Laura Rose, herself the daughter of a legendary advocacy coach, who relentlessly prepares her team for the big leagues-to knock the "South Dakota Nice" out of them. And in New Orleans, beloved coach Adria Kimbrough reveals, mid-season, that she is leaving her team at the end of the year. But first she wants that national championship for her HBCU students."Class Action" plunges listeners into a rich verité-driven soundscape, replete with mic'd-up behind-the-scenes drama, in-depth character scenes and immersive courtroom battles. It's a "cinematic" podcast: listeners are immersed in the action, it's direct and emotional. The music swells, stories play out. Coaches urge players on the sidelines, as Katie and a team of noted trial attorneys-including Preet Bharara, Elie Honig, Lara Bazelon and Tony Serra- help break the code of American law. The Ex-Wife of Convicted Sex Felon Spencer Herron Investigates the Real Story of Her Seemingly Perfect Husband and Grapples with Years of Astonishing Infidelities"Betrayal" available on iHeartRadio and All Major Podcast Platforms. Glass Podcasts, a division of the award-winning Glass Entertainment Group (GEG), and iHeartMedia, the No. 1 podcast publisher globally according to Podtrac, announced the launch of its eight-part true-crime podcast series Betrayal. The first two episodes dropped April 28, and will continue with weekly installments every Thursday. Betrayal is distributed by the iHeartPodcast Network and is available on iHeartRadio and all major podcast platforms.A real-life fairytale gone horribly wrong; Betrayal is the story of TV producer Jenifer Faison whose picture-perfect marriage completely shatters in the blink of an eye when she suddenly discovers that her college sweetheart-turned-doting husband is not the person she thought he was. After seven years of marriage, Faison came home from work one afternoon to find her house searched and her husband arrested for the continued sexual assault of a student. The series unravels the case of convicted sexual predator and two-time Kell High School 'Teacher of the Year' Spencer Herron, who plead guilty to six counts of sexual assault of a former Cobb, Georgia student. Presently serving six concurrent sentences, Herron's crimes began when the sexual assault victim was in high school. Interviewing the now 21-year-old college student who survived numerous sexual assaults at the hands of her husband, Faison attempts to learn about the man she thought she loved. In Betrayal, Faison investigates the hidden story behind the story, revealing a dark double life fueled by dozens often sordid and simultaneous affairs with friends, neighbors and strangers, dating back to the week they were married. Throughout the podcast, Jenifer painstakingly pieces together evidence, including texts, photos and letters from prison. She speaks with friends, family and several of the other women Herron was intimately involved with, some of whom she knew personally. Each woman eerily described the same manner of manipulation and gaslighting Spencer deployed to justify his philandering. Faison even speaks to Spencer himself.Blindsided and bewildered by the betrayal and pathological lies, Faison must contend with the sinister truth: Her seemingly ideal husband carefully crafted his public persona to hide his inner demons, painting himself as the revered teacher and beacon of his small-town community, located just 20 miles northwest of Atlanta. "Spence was the last person who I ever would have guessed would have taken advantage of a kid, and I think anybody else who knew him would have said the same thing," said Faison. "Could it be true that this man I loved was a sexual predator? I realized that afternoon that life as I knew it would never be the same. The future that we planned was gone, and that was the last time I had seen him.""Betrayal is the ultimate cautionary tale of what could go wrong with blind faith," says Nancy Glass, Executive Producer of the series and CEO of Glass Entertainment Group. "Jenifer is just like anyone else; she built a life on love, trust and respect, but she had no idea what was concealed beneath the surface of her immaculate marriage. There were never any clues nor any reason to believe her world could come crashing down. This is the story of a woman living in the aftermath of the worst-possible scenario and her road to healing." Glass Podcast's Head of Podcast Production and Development, Andrea Gunning, voices Betrayalalongside Faison. The series is Executive Produced by Nancy Glass and Jenifer Faison with Carrie Hartman and Ben Fetterman producing for Glass Podcasts. Glass Podcasts is overseen by Gunning, and Ben Fetterman, who serves as Head of Podcast Strategy and Development. ABOUT AUTHENTIC: THE STORY OF TABLOVICE partners with iHeartRadio to release a weekly, ten episode podcast outlining the life and scandal surrounding Korean musician Tablo. Authentic: The Story of Tablo follows the Korean hip-hop superstar and his years-long struggle to prove to the world that he was not a fraud. The podcast will debut on February 24, with new weekly episodes airing every Thursday on iHeartRadio and everywhere else podcasts are heard. In 2010 rapper Daniel Lee, known by his stage name Tablo, was on top of the world. Tablo, then 29, was the leader of the Korean hip-hop group Epik High. The trio's fan base had grown drastically in the States as they toured across the country and soared to the top of the hip-hop charts, beating out Jay-Z and Kanye West for the number one spot. But at the height of the group's fame, an unexpected twist would bring Tablo into the public eye like never before. As Tablo's fame began to grow, an online forum popped up questioning his education credentials. People were skeptical of the validity of his bachelor's and master's degrees from Stanford University. The forum, titled Taijinyo (loosely translate to "Tell the Truth Tablo") quickly turned into the anti-fan club questioning everything from his passports, diplomas, military service and the very nature of his identity. With hundreds of thousands of people doubting all evidence presented in defense of Tablo, family members began receiving death threats, and massive media attention followed. Over a decade later, Authentic: The Story of Tablo dives deep into how this came to fruition. With an exclusive interview, host Dexter Thomas Jr. brings us through Tablo and Epik High's success story, how the media played a role in the blow up of Tajinyo's hunt for the "truth", and the official investigation into the musician. Back then, the story seemed so shocking and bizarre. Today, we are all too familiar with the cacophony of disinformation that riddles popular culture and public figures. The internet's real-life effects still reverberate in Tablo's life more than a decade after the scandal. His story is the story of fake news before fake news had a name. It's the story of erosion of truth before a U.S. president had to be fact checked by Twitter. It's the story of the half-life of internet outrage before we even had words to describe it. And it's the story of the power of hip hop before it made its way into the K Pop mainstream globally.ABOUT DEXTER THOMAS JR.Dexter Thomas Jr. is a uniquely suited host of this series. An academic, DJ, hip hop scholar and journalist all in one. He holds a PhD from Cornell University where he wrote his dissertation on how hip hop culture has traveled around the world and has taught as a visiting professor at UCLA. As a journalist, he works as an on-camera correspondent for VICE News with documentaries appearing on HBO and Showtime, covering topics from drugs in the U.S. to trap music in China and presidential elections in South Africa. He was also host and producer of "RESET," a 10-episode TV series covering the unseen world of video games. He has also contributed to Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage at the LA Times, won an LA Press Club Award, is a Fulbright Scholar, and a three-time News Emmy nominee.Authentic: The Story of Tablo is distributed by the iHeartPodcast Network.- ABOUT TABLOTablo (real name Daniel Lee) is a globally celebrated artist, who's expansive discography includes 10 albums with pioneering Korean hip-hop group Epik High and Fever's End, his 2011 solo album. "Whoever casually first said 'All good things must come to an end' never had to end their favorite thing," Fogelman wrote."While sad to have just 1 season left, also grateful to NBC for letting us end the show how, and when, we always intended. We'll work hard to stick the landing. #ThisIsUs," he concluded. The show's Twitter account also shared Fogelman's tweet along with photos from the five seasons so far.Mandy Moore, who stars as Rebecca Pearson on the show, also addressed the upcoming conclusion on her Instagram Story. "I'm already VERY emotional about my favorite job coming to an end. BUT.... We have a whole season to wrap things up the way it was always intended," she wrote.NBC announced its fall schedule on Friday and the premiere of season 6 of This Is Us, which will be delayed for the midseason lineup in early 2022, with 18 episodes airing uninterrupted. On Wednesday, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that season 6 of This Is Us will be the last for the time-jumping drama, which first premiered on Sept. 20, 2016, and has featured actors Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Chrissy Metz, Sterling K. Brown, Justin Hartley, Susan Kelechi Watson and Chris Sullivan. In January 2020, Fogelman spoke about the show's eventual ending to the Los Angeles Times, telling the outlet about the progression of storylines ultimately wrapping with an episode that will "have a lot of the information about what's happened to this family, and what will be left is some resolution," adding, "I think when the show eventually comes to an end, I think in the best way, it'll be very quiet and normal. That's always been the plan because, at the end of the day, it's a story about this kind of regular family."NBC previously renewed the show in May 2019 through season 6. However, the current season 5 of This Is Uswas cut short by two episodes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which delayed production multiple times throughout 2020 and caused a late start last fall. The final two episodes of season 5 will air May 18 (9 p.m. ET) and May 25 (10 p.m. ET), both on NBC.
