This is the true western story of a passel of Texas brothers who fought against a crooked justice system. The original story of the Marlowes became a frontier novel which served as the basis for the John Wayne film 'The Sons of Katie Elder', which strayed far from the true story- so we figured you should get the true story. I originally did this one for 1001 Heroes and I'm bringing it to 1001 Stories From The Old West for you fans of all things western. EPISODE 28 - “Golden Era Stars in 1970s Disaster Films” - 03/25/2024 Just when many classic films stars thought they were finished in showbiz, a wonderful thing happened — 1970s disaster movies! Producers like IRWIN ALLEN and JENNINGS LANG shepherded in an exciting, over-the-top, new genre that capitalized on our fears. They also smartly cast many classic film actors in these movies, providing familiar faces who added comfort and emotional investment. These films proved not only lucrative for these golden era stars, but kept them in the public eye longer and often revived careers. Listen this week as we talk about our favorite film icons as they are shaken, flipped, torched, and dropped from the sky in the great 70s disaster films. Escucharemos las bandas sonoras que escribió Bernstein para películas como “VALOR DE LEY”, “LOS COMANCHEROS”, “EL CAMINO DE LA VENGANZA”, “LOS HIJOS DE KATIE ELDER”, “LA BATALLA DE LAS COLINAS DEL WHISHY” o “WILD WILD WEST” y terminaremos con una especie de suite que hemos hecho con algunos de sus temas para su saga de “LOS SIETE MAGNÍFICOS”. 00h 00’00” True grit – Elmer Bernstein 00h 02’06” Presentación 00h 03’56” Cabecera 00h 04’32” 1971 EL GRAN JACK 00h 04’32” Main theme 00h 09’03” Little Jake again – Going home 00h 20’03” 1973 LA SOGA DE LA HORCA 00h 20’03” Main title 00h 22’12” Cemetery 00h 26’34” Necktie party 00h 30’21” 1957 CENIZAS DE ODIO 00h 30’21” Prelude 00h 33’54” Love and justice 00h 38’35” 1965 LA BATALLA DE LA COLINAS DEL WHISKY 00h 38’35” Overture 00h 41’56” The battle of whiskey hills 00h 45’49” Hallelujah trail 00h 48’15” 1958 MÁS RÁPIDO QUE EL VIENTO 00h 48’15” Tony’s smile - Saddle the wind – Lover’s quarrel - Going to town 00h 52’38” 1961 LOS COMANCHEROS 00h 52’38” Main title 00h 54’13” Attack 00h 58’52” 1968 EL CAMINO DE LA VENGANZA 00h 58’52” Prologue 01h 01’59” Fast talkin’ man 01h 05’25” 1976 EL ÚLTIMO PISTOLERO 01h 05’25” Main title 01h 09’41” Ride 01h 12’22” Shootout 01h 15’42” 1965 LOS CUATRO HIJOS DE KATIE ELDER 01h 15’42” Main theme 01h 17’56” The sons of Katie Elder – Ernie Sheldon 01h 20’26” Memories of Clearwater 01h 22’57” 1957 CAZADOR DE FORAJIDOS 01h 22’57” Prelude – A stranger in town 01h 26’04” Kip’s half-injun 01h 29’33” Good Indian 01h 32’25” 1974 THE TRIAL OF BILLY JACK 01h 32’25” How I need you – Michelle Wilson 01h 35’02” Billy and Jean reunion 01h 39’00” 1969 VALOR DE LEY 01h 39’00” True grit – Glen Campbell 01h 40’56” Runaway races away – The chase on their way 01h 44’47” Mattie and Little Blackie 01h 45’50” 1999 WILD WILD WEST 01h 45’50” Main title 01h 48’45” Of Rita, rescue and revenge 01h 54’23” 1960 LOS SIETE MAGNÍFICOS 01h 54’23” Main title 01h 56’27” Worst shot 01h 59’26” Calvera’s return 02h 01’55” El Toro 02h 05’17” Petra’s declaration 02h 08’01” I can give you anything but 02h 10’18” 1966 EL REGRESO DE LOS SIETE MAGNÍFICOS 02h 10’18” Main theme 02h 12’45” Defeat 02h 16’04” 1969 LA FURIA DE LOS SIETE MAGNÍFICOS 02h 16’04” Main title 02h 19’22” Father and son 02h 21’11” Cantina rushed 02h 24’53” Guitar source 02h 27’35” 1972 EL DESAFÍO DE LOS SIETE MAGNÍFICOS 02h 27’35” Finale

„I walk the line“ und „Folsom Prison Blues“ wurden Hits. Espero os guste la selección que hemos preparado que terminará con Jill Ireland despidiendo la playlist cantando “Hello and goodbye” que escribió Elmer Bernstein para la película “SUCEDIÓ ENTRE LAS DOCE Y LAS TRES”. 00h 00’00” Yellow rose of Texas – Paul Newman 00h 00’54” Presentación 00h 02’46” Cabecera 00h 03’21” Nevada Smith – Merle Kilgore 00h 06’24” Man without a star – Frankie Laine 00h 08’20” On a bicycle build for joy – B. If you're growing your business, hiring employees is inevitable. But finding and hiring good people isn't always easy. How do you figure out what you need in an employee and then interview for those skills? In this week's episode of the This Week In Weddings podcast, we're chatting with Katie Elder about some best practices for finding, hiring, and interviewing for your team. About our guest: Katie Elder, PhD started her professional journey when she pursued a degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and became a consultant to companies looking to improve their hiring, onboarding, training, team dynamics, management, or leadership. Essentially, anything that has to do with the ‘people part’ of an organization. She has over 15 years of experience and has consulted with Fortune 500 companies in the tech and banking industries, government agencies, and small businesses.  Four years ago, she undertook a new adventure with her husband. They purchased and renovated her grandfather’s barn for their own wedding and create a wedding venue, Overlook Barn, to rent out to others. In those four short years, she has built a thriving wedding business that hosts over 60 weddings a year and has been recognized by Martha Stewart, The Venue Report, Southern Living, and others as a top wedding venue.  With People Part Consulting, Katie merges two of her life passions--management consulting with wedding industry and small business professionals.  Katie earned her PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from George Mason University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Statistics from North Carolina State University. She has presented dozens of times at professional conferences, has publications in peer-reviewed journals, taught college courses as an adjunct professor, and even has a book chapter in the The SAGE Encyclopedia of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, 2nd edition.  In this episode, listeners will hear about: Katie's background and how she got into the wedding industry The first step in hiring and how the job is the most important thing to consider Where to find potential employees The science behind hiring and the multiple steps to the process that make it most effective The types of interview questions that are most effective Want to connect with Katie? I think we were one of their very first clients, and it has truly been a life changer. They make proposals and contracts super easy to use on both our side and the client side. I think before Honeybook I would send proposals and contracts by email, and the client would have to mail the contract to us or fax it by efax. Proposals were in no way streamlined either, so this has made our lives so much better. As a consultant, whenever I sign up a vendor client, one of the very first recommendations I make is Honeybook. No need to complicate things – it works, it’s great…just get it. And if you follow this link, you get 50% off your first year of Honeybook, which is nice, but not nearly as nice as all the time you’re going to save. This week, Colin Fyrth!! Actually live Colin Fyrth on the show. Love or Duty, Love or Duty, that is the big question as we hang out in Casablanca, and we have what I’m hoping will be a heavyweight ding dong battle over the acceptance of a movie into the John Wayne Hall of Fame. Welcome to They Don’t Make ‘em Like They Used To.

"Blood Brothers: The True Story That Inspired the John Wayne Movie "The Sons of Katie Elder". On the evening of January 19th, 1889, two wagons and a buggy slowly crossed Dry Creek, two miles east of Graham, Texas. The lead wagon held six prisoners, four of them being the Marlow Brothers, chained together in pairs by manacles attached to their ankles, and a guard named Phlete Martin. The second wagon carried Deputy U.S.Marshall Edward Johnson, three guards, plus spare weapons and ammunition, while four more guards followed behind, two in a buggy, and two on horseback. Suddenly, from the darkness, came s shout saying "Hold Up!", and guard Phlete Martin shouted "Here they are, take all six of the sons of _itches". A wild gunfight followed that left five men dead, an act that was only a part of a long series of tragic events that included misinformation, wrongful persecution, mob attacks, lawsuits, killing, a famous Texas Ranger, a Colorado lawman, and the U,S. Supreme Court. The Marlow Brothers were innocent. A lot of people wanted them dead. Their story inspired the 1965 western "The Sons of Katie Elder", starring John Wayne, which rendered a version in total much different than the real story, which was much more dramatic.
