How To Ensure Alignment

In this episode of The Leaders Kit Bag, we tackle a common leadership challenge: how to ensure alignment and clarity in meetings and presentations. Many leaders leave a room believing everyone is on the same page, only to find confusion and misalignment later. This episode introduces a simple yet transformative tactic to prevent that from happening. Key Takeaways: Ask to confirm understanding: Instead of asking, “Any questions?”, ask specific questions to test understanding, e.g., “What time are we starting?” or “What is the next step?” Encourage active listening: When attendees know they might be asked to summarise, they naturally engage more attentively. Avoid assumptions: Silence doesn't equate to understanding. Test and confirm for better alignment. This approach fosters better communication, reduces misunderstandings, and ensures everyone leaves a meeting clear and aligned on priorities. Key Takeaways:Ask and listen instead of pitching and selling. People are more likely to when they feel seen, heard, and understood. Your only job is to tap into somebody and have them feel seen, heard, and understood.People decide based on their emotions. Listen to them and lead the conversation with empathy. If people feel misunderstood, they'll become frustrated and guarded, the opposite is also true. First, ask a vision question to know what their pain is or what they want to gain. Second, ask about the gap - the challenges that make the vision difficult to materialize. Third is the cost, ask them what is the cost of not solving this issue. After asking those three questions, that's when you can involve your organization in the conversation. Ask a qualifying question: “What do you feel is needed to close the gap?”  “If you want to increase the quality of the conversations that you have with anybody in your life, it is not what you say, it is the quality of the questions that you ask.” “People will buy to the level that they feel seen, heard, and understood.” “Keep people in their feelings, we make decisions from feeling not thinking.” - Maryanne Dersch   Ask for and receive all you want need and deserve without feeling rejected, ineffective, or pushy. Do you want to be told facts? Or do you want to be sold or convinced to buy a product that may not even suit your goals?  There is never an urgency to buy an annuity. The only urgency is for the client to completely understand what they are buying and what contractual guarantees they are getting into.  For all the annuity agents out there, stop selling and start telling. People don't want to be sold. What they want and need is for someone to give them accurate and relevant information that will help them make a decision that's beneficial for them.   "You buy an annuity for what it will do, not what it might do, and the will do are the contractual guarantees of the policy. In this episode, The Annuity Man and Mr. FIA-X discuss:  Questions to ask your annuity agent  Backtested numbers are garbage  Index Annuities are not bad products When building for accumulation   Key Takeaways:  Ask what the participation rate is and when it can change. Annuity companies can change the rules, as they need to have some way to protect themselves. It's important to know those rules. Next, ask the agent to explain the index, what's in it, and the math behind it.  You need to know when the index rate went live or when it can be tracked. Everything prior to the live date is BS; your annuity will not function like the back-tested illustration they show you.  Index annuities hold contractual guarantees too. However, agents make a lot of money from selling index annuities, so some will say anything they need to to get clients to buy.  If your goal is accumulating wealth, invest in the S&P500, never look at it, and keep contributing.    "[On backtested numbers] You know the old saying ‘past performance is not indicative of current results'. Today's mashup features the insights of Rick Girard and Tim Branyan. They discuss the virtue of being honest and showing genuine care to the people in the organization. Tune in! In this episode: Rick Girard talks about how he is working on his future self to become a better leader. People are now thinking deeply about what matters to them. It is not only about money. With this, leaders must listen more to the people. Tim Branyan shares how his favorite leader gets results and how he wants to learn from his ways. The future calls for individuals to know how to lead themselves, find ways to perform with excellence and solve problems. Key Takeaways: Ask yourself - are you moving fast enough? People can figure out inauthenticity quickly Take a closer look at the ways of your favorite leaders Be in your best interest to care about the people around you Learn how to lead yourself in the organization Tweetable Quotes: "As a leader, you really need to go back to your values and drill down on… What are the values of my company? Are we living those values, and are these values being utilized in such a way we can attract the right people and repel the wrong ones?” - Rick Girard “In the future, as we continue to grow, you're going to be paid in direct proportion to your ability to solve problems… I think also your performance is going to play a big part in your earnings as the future continues. And your ability to lead yourself and create skills that pay the bills and skills that are transferable to a company or product service, etc… Employees are going to have to lead themselves even more so in the future.” - Tim Branyan Reach out to Denis: Email: denis@leadingchangepartners.com Website: http://www.leadingchangepartners.com/ (http://www.leadingchangepartners.com/)  Leadership Is Changing Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/LeadershipIsChanging/ (https://www.facebook.com/groups/LeadershipIsChanging/) Leadership is Changing LinkedIn Page: https://www.linkedin.com/company/leadership-is-changing-podcast/ (https://www.linkedin.com/company/leadership-is-changing-podcast/)

Does your experience serve your current customer? How about your future customer? Do you know if your experience is time well spent for your customer? Or if they are truly engaged? Or if the outcomes you're delivering matter to them? In today's episode, we are joined by Sheila Akbar, the president & COO of Signet Education to explore what happens when companies make measurement a meaningful part of the experience.    IN THIS EPISODE:   [01:20] What is Signet Education and what do they do? [04:35] How does Sheila take a holistic approach with Signet Education? [07:38] The current challenges Signet Education is tackling right now. [13:34] Using repeated tooling as a Life Wheel to measure felt shifts.  [17:30] What is the Time Well Spent Index and how is it used to measure customer satisfaction with an experience? [20:29] Implementing reflection metrics to encourage customers to reflect on how the experience has changed them and what it means to them. [30:19] Sheila's reflections on Signet Education experience metrics. [32:29] Consumers want data that shows how they're doing and how you're doing as a company.   KEY TAKEAWAYS:   Ask yourself what you are measuring and why. What is the goal of taking that  measurement? Who is it serving? Question that at the beginning of any initiative. Companies don't see measurement as part of the experience. They see it as an after-effect, but it's often the last touchpoint we have with the product. Make it an essential part of what you do. Find out what your customers value. What matters to them and how they want to spend their time with you so that you're not spinning your wheels on stuff that isn't that important to them. And then use that information to optimize the experience.    LINKS MENTIONED:   Signet Education Website   BIO:   Sheila Akbar is Signet's President & COO and has been with the company since 2010. She loves both teaching and learning and finds nothing more rewarding than working closely with students to overcome the challenges they face. Drawing on her own academic and career experience, with its many twists and turns, she encourages students to find their own path through exploration and experimentation.    After graduating from Harvard in 2002, Sheila worked in financial services before continuing her academic career, which culminated in two doctorates. She brings her significant business and academic experience to bear on her current role at Signet, which includes speaking to clients to craft tailored solutions for their needs, managing the administrative team, and providing educational thought leadership for the company. Sheila holds a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Harvard University and two doctorate degrees from Indiana University.

“Brain science teaches that even if a prospect knows, loves, and believes in a company's offerings, after they become a customer, fear, doubt, and uncertainty will plague their thoughts.” That familiar feeling is buyer's remorse—and if you're not building systems to directly address it within customers' first 100 days, you are far more likely to lose them.  Regardless of where your business operates, what industry you work in, or the size of your operation, you are likely losing approximately 20 to 70 percent of your newly acquired customers in the first 100 days of the relationship. As Joey Coleman explains in this conversation, most are structured around customer acquisition, not customer experience. Today we're talking about how to flip the script and never lose a customer again. More About Joey: Joey Coleman is the author of the #2 Wall Street Journal bestseller, Never Lose a Customer Again: Turn Any Sale into Lifelong Loyalty in 100 Days. Thanks for tuning into the Scale Your Small Business Podcast with your host, Jillian Foldstrom. Our guest today is AJ Vaden, who was recently named one of the top five personal branding speakers of 2019. She is the co-founder and CEO of Brand Builders Group, an international speaker, a million-dollar consultant, and the host of The Influential Personal Brand Podcast.   Diving in, it's important to recognize if you're talking to the right group of people. Data can help, AJ says, but it's really a personal question. Ask yourself who you want to serve, who you want to reach. It has nothing to do with what the economy is doing, or what the market is saying, or what your competitors are doing.    You are best positioned to serve the person you once were, AJ says. Where do you have a personal affinity? What types of customers do you feel naturally drawn to? Typically, you need to know the demographic specifics, but those are general. Think about who your work is built for. It's a person, not a group of people. What does this person care about? What are their fears? What keeps them up at night? What are their passions? What are their dreams? What questions do they have? What are they searching for? The more products and services you have, the different your audience is, but your message is consistent. Your audience can evolve and change and mature, but there is a shared set of values that AJ and her clients share.    AJ doesn't believe in competitors. She believes what makes us truly unique are our personal experiences, our personal expertise, our personal values, missions, and beliefs. No one in the world has those same personal experiences and knows exactly what's important to them. Consider what your alliances are. Celebrate each other's differences and not try to absorb every single client, but instead share them.    It's about finding your uniqueness. First, what problem do you solve? That is the number one key to building a best-selling brand is becoming known and becoming synonymous with a problem that you solve for your audience. It's one word that you're paired with. Then, what are you passionate about? What fills you up? Next, what is your expertise? Pair that with what your first-hand experience is. Finally, what would people buy from you? This is paired with what business we want to be in.    AJ and her team conducted a study run by an independent Ph.D researching firm to find out how personal brands impact America today. They found 74% of Americans said that they are more likely to trust someone who has an established personal brand. It's not a celebrity. It's not an influencer. It's not someone who has a book or a podcast. Americans said that they thought at the end of the day, a personal brand is simply someone whom they recognize. The three most significant or credible titles that people said they deem as most credible and most trustworthy were CEO, owner, and expert. The most impactful and most significant thing in influencing purchase decisions are third-party testimonials from your clients.   LINKS   https://brandbuildersgroup.com/   Key Takeaways   Ask yourself who you want to serve, who you want to reach. Author Lisa Stevenson joins Pete in today's episode of Fire In The Belly to discuss why she left her job as a nurse to pursue a new career in writing and tells of how she created the health and wellness journal for children called ‘My Happy Mind Journal'  to help them with gratitude, positivity and mindfulness. Together they cover everything from the importance of asking for help, the benefits of the Happy Mind Activity Journal and why sending love to people will always make you feel better.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Ask for help if you think you need it, even if you might feel you are being silly. Ask the people around you for their advice and get them to help you through your struggles. There are so many ways to teach yourself things these days that make your life easier. Showing gratitude is not about only appreciating the big things in your life. It is also about showing gratitude for the pillow that you're sleeping on, having warm water to wash your face with, your shampoo to wash your hair etc. Show gratitude for absolutely everything that you have, even the minor things because unfortunately, not everybody has these. You have to be grateful for the small things and then you can be even more grateful for the big things that happen in life. So much of a childs entertainment these days comes from a mobile phone. The fact that My Happy Mind Activity Journal allows children to pick up a pencil and color improves behaviour and is something new and exciting for them. Everyone is a working progress no matter how old you are. Whether you're ten or one hundred and ten, you always find out something new about yourself such as new interests or new skills that you didn't realise you had or were good at. Everyday is a learning day. Love and happiness are two of the things people forget that they have. People need to remember to give love more often, even to people that you may not think deserve it. Send them love and it makes you feel a lot better.   BEST MOMENTS “Kids now, from the age of one or two can use a phone better than I can!” “I made the decision that I have had enough.” “I have not regretted one iota of it.” ABOUT THE GUEST “I am an author of My Happy Mind Activity Journal for children aged 7-12 to help them with gratitude, positivity, mindfulness, meditation all in a fun way over 60 days. I hear you. Building a business is tough, and my clients work hard to achieve results. I decided to record a short preview of Chapter Six of my new landscaping book. I will discuss the possible mistakes in setting up a business that I learned the hard way. It was hard for me because no one guided me when I started. There are few people I ran to and asked for advice when I noticed that I've been doing it wrong. That is why here are some tips from the mistakes that I had gone through and corrected, which you might also encounter along the way.     "Here's how to avoid when taking on landscaping jobs. It's easier than you'd think, have rails set up on your business. I learned this the hard way. Rails or clear limits are essential to understanding how to run a business. It comes down to realizing what your business is and what your business is not." - Keith Kalfas.     Topics Covered: 2:15 - One of the best practices that you can develop as a business owner is understanding the needs of your potential customers and whether you can actually meet them before investing resources in them. Not evaluating your potential customers is a mistake. Screening is vital in a business, and it is not just accepting customers because of money. Talk to them and see if you guys are a fit. 11:15 - Avoid giving numbers right away. And instead, take a step back and tell your customers that you'll send them a quote. 15:26 - Always, always, always prepare a contract. A signature is important to acknowledge the agreement between you and your client. 21:33 -  Don't forget to put those tarps and canvass before trimming. 24:33 - Policy is important to run a business. Don't mess this up!     Key Takeaways: "Ask yourself when you start. Who is your customer? Who is not your customer? What areas and zip codes do you want to target? What areas and zip codes you are not interested in? What types of jobs are you looking to take on? And what types of jobs are you not interested in? Now, that's really easy to say for me right now that I have an established business. But truthfully, when I first got started, I was doing anything, I would paint your shed, I would pull your weeds, I would shovel rocks, I would bust up concrete, I would do anything for $1. So I think that if you're straight up desperate and have a customer willing to do anything. I'm willing to pay you money, whatever, bro, do anything. But as soon as you get established, you kind of stopped doing all that stuff. It depends on how advanced you are in your thinking and your confidence, right?"     "We're known for doing the best highest quality work in my city, period. And I got to charge for it. So that's when you move upstream, higher up in the pyramid, where you say, you know what, I'm only going to do quality work for quality money. That's what we do. We do beautiful work, and we charge more because of my reputation on the line, and that's where I get in where I fit in. Right? That's just me, but think about stuff like that, right?"   Connect with Keith Facebook Instagram  YouTube LinkedIn Website   Other Helpful links! In part two of our Chattinn Cyber with with host Marc Schein, our guests, Sherri and Michael, continue talking about ransomware. They start with the question of whether or not you should actually pay the ransom. Sherri recommends making sure you have backups. Have a plan to resecure your data even if you have to engage with the hackers. From the legal side, Michael recommends contacting law enforcement—but not the local police. These days, the FBI works really hard to help. It also helps to have built a relationship with federal police ahead of time. Sherri suggests looking into community partnership programs that have sprung up recently. Regarding police takedown, Sherri explains that some leading ransomware gangs have recently been taken down, including Emotet. Emotet was one of the leading technological threat distributors. With Emotet on your computer, all your information could be stolen within 15 minutes. And then they could simply nuke it all with the Ryuk ransomware. Members of that very gang have been arrested. Emotet will uninstall itself by April of this year. A lot of repair software may actually be working as malware itself. It’s absolutely vital to have expert help at every step of the way. Sherri finishes the episode by giving a few key things to watch out for to protect yourself from ransomware: Exposed remote login credentials. Email phishing. Software vulnerabilities. She recommends using two-factor authentication and a VPN. Be sure to train users to think before they click. Michael urges to do your due diligence assuming there is risk. Get ahead of the proliferation of ransomware attacks. Key Takeaways: Ask for proof of life if you’re going to pay the ransom on your data. Knowing who to contact is important. An advisory can help to organize your response to hackers. There are downsides to getting your ransomware payments insured. You must treat any threat as a potential data breach. Key Quotes: “There’s nothing new here from a legal perspective.” - Michael (13:00) “We actually have seen takedowns of ransomware-as-a-service gangs.” - Sherri (22:00) “You have to assume that there may have been data stolen.” - Sherri (24:50) “You cannot figure out what the breach is without the technology side.” - Michael (26:00) “The second you start a letter-writing campaign, you have to be mindful of the fact that you’re creating a record for court.” - Michael (33:10)

Eric Mason is a published economist who currently works in the public sector as a Chief Financial Officer. On this episode of CFO at Home, Eric and Vince discuss the differences between the stock market and the economy, the impact of companies like Google on the competitive marketplace, ways the government can aid in the current US economic recovery, and more. Key Takeaways Ask an Economist Question #1 - Why are the stock market and home sales going up when the economy is “in trouble”? The stock market moves and reacts quickly to current events. Consumers purchase stocks because they believe its value will grow in the future. Home prices do well as long as the portion of the population that is most apt to purchase a home is doing well  The economy moves more slowly than the stock market; stock market data is updated in milli-seconds, economic data is analyzed and updated quarterly. It more accurately reflects the present.  When people talk about “The Economy” common measures of health are: The Unemployment Rate  Gross Domestic Product (GDP) - Combination of 4 inputs: Investment Government Expenditure Consumption Net Exports ALLL - Allowed Losses for Leveraged Leases - Measurement of toxic assets held by banks Labor Force Participation Rate   Ask an Economist Question #2: What determines if  Antitrust action against companies like Google is good for the economy or not?  Is the company causing any economic inefficiencies?  Does the company behave as if it has competitors?  What type of Government intervention do you think would be most effective right in terms of helping the US economy recover?  Production of products that the free market cannot get the financial return needed to produce them  (example: Infrastructure spending)    Ask an Economist Question #3 Fox Business - “Atlanta Fed president about uneven economic recovery” Hotels, restaurants, small businesses and minority and lower-income communities, in particular, are “seeing much more difficult situations”. What can be done from an economic policy standpoint (gov’t, public sector) to help with recovery in these areas?  Beyond the short-term safely nets (enhanced unemployment), investment in skills training is needed as the face of economic hubs in metropolitan areas  where many service-driven businesses are located changes post-pandemic The “Work from Home” culture that’s emerging post-pandemic benefits those who have jobs that fit that model, but hurting those in the service industries that those work from home workers relied on in the past.  Resources: The Ascent of Money  Ways to contact/follow Eric Mason - LinkedIn One37capital.com Astro-nomics Podcast

What is involved in discovery? Why do you want to find out more about the person? How does knowing the person better help you with the sale you are trying to make? What else do we need to know about the first interaction? Key Takeaways: Ask questions. Do research - can be from public or private sources (asking questions.) Deliver the information you have in the context of what is important to the customer It’s important to know the person because they are going to either influence or make the decision. Asking questions and getting to know them helps them realize I am a human being and not someone just trying to sell something. Asking if they have any questions for you will let you know how engaged they are in the conversation. You can refer back to what these first questions revealed in future discussions. In this episode, Mike and Amanda Goetz have a great conversation about intention, focus, lessons learned in building a business, joining a business and starting over. Amanda is the VP of Marketing at The Knot and Founder of a new side gig.  Questions Answered: What drove you to start building out a side business? How do you keep things straight? How did you start to get comfortable with saying no to things? What compelled you to go out and raise money this time? How do you say no to people? How do you deal with the pain, conflict and challenges? Why do we struggle with transparency? What does community mean to you? How do we overcome not wanting to be self-promotional? Key Takeaways: Ask everyday, how am I going to approach this day and what does success look like Don’t believe in “mommy guilt” Whatever I am doing in this moment gets my full attention. Focus and Finish Your defense is your email. Not every email needs an immediate response. Your offense is when you are in control of what you are doing. In the absence of information, people spin and they ask a lot of questions. I believe in pro-active communication. When people don’t have a true North Star, that’s when you get unnecessary emails. Experience is the best teacher. You have to do applications of these things. When it comes to saying no to business relationships, I think a lot about where it needs to start and it needs to start with knowing yourself. It’s ok to acknowledge highs and lows and talk about those openly. Someone has to be brave enough to go first. This creates a foundation of trust and further vulnerability. Community means to me people who found connection through usually highs or lows. Brands that try to be everything to everyone end up being nothing to anyone. Self-promotion is very different than stating your thoughts. Put your thoughts into the world. You have to bet on yourself before other people will.  Show Links:  Amanda on Twitter Work With Catalyst Sale: Listen to our free resource (this podcast) and then put the action items into practice. Feel stuck in a dead-end job? Not making enough money in your business? David Neagle is an internationally recognized success coach, author of The Millions Within and host of The Successful Mind Podcast. He has worked alongside Bob Proctor, Tony Robbins, and Mark Victor Hansen and has coached hundreds of entrepreneurs to become 7-figure business owners. He’s been featured recently in Entrepreneur, CNBC, and more for his business expertise. A former high school dropout and minimum-wage forklift driver, David suffered a near-death incident where he was pulled into a dam, broke his back and nearly drowned. No one expected David to survive the accident and the rescue workers even told his family he was dead. But David survived. He made the decision that day to begin the journey responsible for changing his entire life. Through the power of mindset work, he incrementally and systematically increased his income and eventually became a multimillion-dollar business owner. Since then, David has helped thousands of entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners tap into their unlimited potential in order to grow their businesses and achieve their dreams - including New York Times Best Selling Author Jen Sincero. In his conversation with us, David shares his personal experience of transformation – the mindset shifts and questions he asked himself that led to his quantum leap in income and quality of life. We explore the common money conversations we learn from childhood, the truth about money, and how to manifest what you truly desire in life and create additional income whenever you choose. Key Takeaways Ask yourself, what’s the difference between your attitude and the attitude of successful people you admire? Do your best every day, act like you love what you do, and treat everyone with total respect. Most people were raised with a financial plan based on the idea of need. There’s no number behind it; it’s the perception of how much they think they need to live the quality of life that their self-esteem says they should be living. We set up money patterns in two ways – in direct replication of what we saw in our parents or in rebellion of it. Either way it’s the same story. Money is just a tool that does two very basic things. It gets us out of survival mode and allows us to live a more expansive life, and it allows us to extend our service beyond our physical presence. Most people don’t understand money. They don’t know what moves money – which is always a sale or agreement between two people. Everyone on the planet has the same amount of money, even if they’re not aware that resource is available to them if they were to think differently. People who don’t reach their goals generally set the goal from the wrong place. A goal can be as big as you want it to be as long as somewhere internally you believe that you’re going to accomplish it. When setting a financial goal, ask yourself how much you can actually see yourself receiving? Realize that the “how” in reaching the goal is not your job to figure out. That’s the job of God / the universe. The how is already here. Our job is based on choosing what we really desire. Your mission is how you leave people feeling, and it consists of only one or two words. Your brand promise needs to match what your ideal client is exactly looking for. This episode was inspired by a Harvard Business Review article titled, “Stop Complaining About Your Colleagues Behind Their Backs.” The premise of the article is that most people engage in workplace gossip without realizing that it is gossip. As well, conversations with seemingly innocent intentions like confirming performance behaviour or venting can also turn into gossip. On this episode, we talk about gossip in the workplace, why it happens, the impact it has on organizations and teams, and how to engage in more productive and effective conversations with your colleagues. Key Takeaways: Ask yourself, “Why are you talking about this person in the first place and why did you choose to do so with this person in particular?” Pay attention to how a conversation makes you feel; if you’re getting an icky feeling, it’s probably not a useful conversation If you are going to expend the energy to gossip, you might want to consider using that energy to figure out a more effective way to let someone know how you are feeling, ask a question, or fill in the blanks

Scheduling in your self-care, including meals, throughout the day. Key Takeaways: Ask the “right why.” It is important to acknowledge what is and is not working in your life, accept what you may not be able to change right now, and work towards solutions to help you achieve your goals. Mindfulness, particularly as it relates to self-care, is critically important. “Don’t fix what’s broken, focus on what you want to achieve. What’s broken might not need to be fixed, you may just need to add something to it so it can self-heal.” —  Jeanette Bronée About Jeanette Bronée: Jeanette Bronée is a performance strategist, international TEDx and keynote speaker, author and founder of the company Path for Life Inc. Jeanette helps leaders and companies rethink performance by asking the “Right Why®” so they can lead themselves and their people better and achieve sustainable success. She is passionate about how we can create a culture of care by unlocking what truly drives performance, engagement and motivation from the inside out. For 15 years, she has coached clients and delivered speeches about how physical health and emotional, social and mental wellbeing affect our performance and prevent stress and burnout. She shows how our mindset affects our self-care habits at work and at home and believes that when we leave our humanity at the door when we go to work, we leave behind our most valuable resource for success. Is it Time to Leave Your Job? - 123

How Do You Know When It Is Time To Leave Your Job? This is the time of year where many of us take the time to reflect, we think about what the past year has provided, and what we plan to accomplish in 2019. This week we discuss some of the questions you should ask yourself when determining if it is time to look elsewhere, and move on.  We also discuss the importance of exiting with grace, and handling your business appropriately. Thank you for sharing the Catalyst Sale Podcast with a colleague. Questions Addressed How do you know when it is time to leave? How do we know if we are settling for good, when great is out there? If we are in a position where things are not good, how do we know that we are better off by breaking free? What if you should leave just because you want to get different experiences? How can you send us questions? Key Takeaways Ask yourself these questions. Are you Happy? Are you Learning? If you are not excited about the thing you are doing for the organization you are currently with, it might be time. Sometimes the hardest job to leave is the one where things are "good". You may have the opportunity to be great, but you may not be able to be great in the current role. When you are coasting, you are likely going downhill. How can you make this opportunity great? Be self-aware. If you find yourself in a rotation like the old Dunkin' Donuts commercial, it might be time to make a move. Ask your boss about new opportunities, opportunities to stretch. Job shadowing, participating in other team meetings, may provide a great opportunity to expand your role and innovate. If you have a question, or would like to share how you apply the concepts discussed on the podcast, please send them to hello@catalystsale.com If the situation is bad, ask these questions. What am I doing? How can I improve the situation? Have I learned everything I can from the role? Don't stick around too long, thinking this too shall pass. In any scenario where you feel like you have learned everything in a given role, patterns continue to repeat themselves, you are at a point where things are predictable, it may be time to explore new opportunities. You can always go back, you may not go back to the same role, in the same org, but there are other similar roles out there. You are not beholden to your decision forever. It may be time to explore other options if the following apply.., If you don't feel like you are making an impact If you don't feel like you are giving back If you struggle to enter the beginners' mind perspective Keep in mind - what you deliver to the new organization may drive innovation. You are not bound to geography, leverage the technology that is available to you. If you decide that now is the time to leave, you cannot coast on the way out.  You can't mail it in. You have made a commitment to the organization you are a part of, make good on that commitment. Don't let a short-timers mentality become part of your legacy. Vivica is a nutritionist, blogger, and a ketogenic cookbook author. Her fondness of the ketogenic diet stemmed from not just targeted learning experiences and seminars but also from how she used it to bounce back from a pre-diabetic state. She also realized the need for ketogenic research and practitioners, so she has since offered lifestyle programs centered around the ketogenic diet. Today, Vivica tells us how an average person can get started with a ketogenic diet, why she thinks a diet by macros aren’t ideal, and why she is strongly against dairy in any diet.   " When you have serious, underlying health issues, your macros aren't going to fix it.” Vivica Menegaz     In this episode, you’ll learn: There are many ways to “attack” a ketogenic diet. There are no one-size fits all approach. A ketogenic diet just means some macro nutrient ratios; it doesn't really tell you what you should be eating. Most ketogenic diet fans were motivated with weight loss. Vivica did it so she can bounce back from being a pre-diabetic. A standard ketogenic diet is high in dairy, Vivica promotes a Keto-Paleo approach because dairy products interfere with hormonal production. The basis of a keto-paleo diet is founded on high quality, nutrient dense food. It also has to be locally sourced and organic. Don't be obsessed with macros, focus on food quality. Auto-immune disease is common but it's not really a disease but a phase of disease. Every disease will go to an auto immune phase if left unchecked. A ketogenic diet is an ultra-low carb diet and it might not work for someone if they were to go with it for long-term. A good way to circumvent this is by doing a cyclical ketogenic diet.   Key Takeaways: Ask yourself if any food is designed for humans. Milk in cartons are usually for cows or goats. You don't have to get the perfect diet right away but the quality of food you get is important.   Connect with Vivica Menegaz: The Nourished Caveman Facebook   Mentioned in this episode: The Paleo Answer book by Loren Cordain, PH.D.   Rate, Review, Connect, Inspire     Stay updated on new episodes, guest interviews, and health, wellness, and fitness information and resources by subscribing to the HealthCastNow Podcast Show oniTunes. Episode 74: How to Succeed in Photography

Photo Cred: Amy & Jordan Photography As photographers, we have a lot of competition. Thanks to digital photography & improving technology, more photographers are coming out of the woodwork than ever before. The truth is, up to 85% of these new photography businesses will fail. Why is that? Well, this week we are trying to figure it out! Our guest Cole is a fantastic resource... he started a photography business almost 10 years ago & is now the creator of Cole's Classroom, an online resource for photographers. Cole joins us in the studio this week to talk about how to succeed in photography! Key Takeaways Ask for advice... but take it or leave it. Cole & Kate started their businesses in the same year, and it was right around the time digital photography was beginning to take over. There was a huge battle going on between up & coming digital photographers & portrait photographers who were struggling to keep their film businesses afloat. This led to a lot of harsh criticism of new photographers. One could argue, that harsh criticism is still there today. It's always a good idea to ask established photographers for critiques, because they most likely can help improve your photography. However,  know that everything is subjective. Take their advice into consideration, and then decide whether or not you want to take it. Photography is art, and at the end of the day, art is personal. The more time you spend perfecting YOUR art and YOUR style, the better you will succeed in photography! Be honest with yourself about what it takes. Being a successful photographer is HARD. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes, and unfortunately it isn't just taking photos. Many people who fail as photographers do so because they don't have the work ethic to run a successful business. They could have amazing photography skills, but at the end of the day if they aren't prepared to put tons of time and effort into their business, it will fail. Ask yourself if you have what it takes to get to where you want to go. Remember, success is different for every person. What does success mean to you? Check your pricing. We can ramble on about style and consistency and marketing and work ethic for hours, but at the end of the day, if your pricing isn't correct, you will not succeed in photography. If your prices are too low, you are undervaluing yourself, messing up the market for other photographers (which makes networking awkward), and you're likely to burn out because eventually the awe of doing photography for a living will wear off, and you'll be left feeling like you aren't getting paid what you're worth. On the flip side, if you're overcharging, you won't get booked. Many people talk about finding your ideal client (hello lady who drives a BMW and lives in a mansion overlooking the beach, right?!) but they fail to mention that only works if your work is good enough for that type of client. Don't be afraid to make adjustments to your pricing as needed depending on how many shoots you're booking.
