It's a conversation I recorded about parent choice understand I understood the power and navigating the journey for my children as public education is mandatory and the district attorney has all of its rights when it comes to you and your family to remove your children from the home if you choose not to follow The policies of the state you're living in in America is just you, but if you don't understand you have rights. You have absolutely none so wake up in America become a citizen as I am citizen Anderson over there on Podbean and Parent Empowerment half hour! here on Spotify over 1000 shows. What will you do? Ann Elliott is a Graduate of the City College of New York with a BA in Sociology. She has a Master of Science degree in Business Leadership from Concordia College of New York from which she graduated with Honors in 2017 and received the Young Alumni of Distinction Award in 2019. She is the Founder and Executive Director of The Family Support Consultants. She is a member of New York Women's Chamber of Commerce, Women in Black of the Greater New York area, a member of The International Society of Female Professionals, and a member of the Supervised Visitation Network. Ann worked as social worker in New York City Child Welfare for over 25 years and has Empowered, Coached and Mentored women who have their children placed in the foster care system. She teaches Parenting Skills classes, provides Supervised Visitation Services on custody court cases. She also provides Reunification Coaching Services to birth parents of children in foster care. She is a Chaplain and also a Board-Certified Christian Counselor through the National Association of Christian Counselors. She provides Faith-Based Counseling as requested. Ann Elliott worked in the New York City Child Welfare system for 25 years. She is a former CPS- Child Protective Services worker for the Administration for Children Services where she worked for 10 years and 15 years in the foster care Agencies. She has firsthand knowledge of the trafficking of children as she was approached to traffic children in her cases by her superiors. It was then that she began to see how extensive and complicit the agency, courts judges and attorneys were, in this vast criminal empire of trafficking children in the child welfare system. She has put her life at risk by coming forward with this information but knows that she must be a voice for the voiceless at all costs. In Honor of Senator Nancy Schaefer a Warrior and Champion for Child Welfare Reform, who stated “I believe Child Protective Service [CPS] nationwide has become corrupt and that the entire system is broken beyond repair. I am convinced parents and families should be warned of the dangers”, Ann has created an organization – REFORM CWN + FAMILY SUPPORT CONSULTANTS - passionate about advocating for the reform of the child welfare and family court system in New York, to be Agents of Change and Reform for the Child Welfare and Family Court Judicial System. The mission is to address the concerns of the Adoption and Safe Family Act (ASFA), that is pro-adoption and that expedites Termination of Parental Rights. The organization also tackles the systemic failures within Child Protective Services (CPS), foster care and Family Court. FAMILY SUPPORT CONSULTANTS is dedicated to Parent Empowerment & Advocacy and Family Reunification, as well as : highlighting concerns such as high turnover of CPS in field offices, illegal removal of documentation that supports parents progress and that compromises their court cases and financial incentives that compromises the welfare of children in the system and Family Court. The focus is also to bring attention to the concerns of child trafficking through the foster care system, family court corruption, compromised custody cases by rogue judges with judicial immunity and advocating for better support and resources for parents and children reunification and family stabilization. ..... kudos to Mr. Thomas Chung, her mentor.
As we don't even know what the old regulations were, they have no regulations they collect no data and I'm just confused because there was no public notice on this and how they bring it to the public criminal because they're supposed to have organizations within the district that allow parents and community members to participate in, and they've not created these Public venues so the public can participate they don't have a district advisory for title one they don't have a district advisory for the The spending of the other dollars and they don't have a district advisory for the English language language learners. They have no district advisories with the people And the children and the community just doesn't exist. They bring all this to you. The state level come down. This is not control. Did you know that emotional intelligence, over IQ, is more predictive of success in careers and relationships? There are four important elements of emotional intelligence, and my guest today, Dr. Joanne Light, is going to dig into each of them. Joanne is an Parent Empowerment coach along with being a mother and grandmother. She is also a retired college administrator and counselor with experience in education, counseling, and life coaching. She has a lot of insight and a great perspective on reframing how we're thinking about and incorporating emotional intelligence with our kids and teens. My conversation with Joanne centers around what we mean, exactly, when we say ‘emotional intelligence', what the four elements of emotional intelligence are, and how to use what we know about emotional intelligence to raise competent, contributing, compassionate children into adults. The theme of wanting something versus being willing to do it also runs throughout our conversation. Chris and Christine discuss the recent vilification of parents who want better education options for their children. It's clear that the school choice and parent empowerment movements are under attack. Groups like Moms for Liberty and Parents Defending Education have worked tirelessly to protect their children and advocate for education options. Now, they're being labeled as hate groups. Even Justin Trudeau is blaming the "American right wing" for his own education issues in Canada. Chris and Christine discuss these outrageous headlines and set the record straight on parent empowerment. In part two of 'Autism and Parent Empowerment with RDI®,' Lisa and Kat talk about each of the 'Three E's of Empowerment' and why they're important, as well as their own personal experiences as RDI® parents and how RDI® empowered them to take control of their children's growth, learning and futures. The post Autism and Parent Empowerment with RDI® – Part II first appeared on RDIconnect.
Special guest, former U.S. Representative Mayra Flores joins Brian and Derek as they discuss the U.S./Mexico Border Crisis, Parent Empowerment, Fossil Fuels and Social Media and our Children.
In this episode of “Autism: A New Perspective,” Dr. Sheely talks about RDI® and parent empowerment. So many parents of autistic children find that they don't know what's going on with their child's learning and growth - they don't know what's happening at the clinics or at school - and they don't know the next step, or how they can help, and it leaves them feeling powerless. The post Autism and Parent Empowerment with RDI® first appeared on RDIconnect.
Schools won't change on their own, often needing a push from concerned educators, community members and, most importantly, parents. But too often parents don't know how to get involved or how to speak out on behalf of their children. Thankfully there are tools and resources out there to help parents understand their rights (and the rights of their children) and learn how to talk to policymakers and educational leaders about ensuring their children get the education they deserve. One of those organizations is African Caribbean American Parents of Children with Disabilities (AFCAMP), led by Executive Director Ann Smith. Ann joins me on the podcast this week. We need more parents as educational advocates if we're going to make real change happen. And the more they learn, the more comfortable they are with speaking up for their children and for the community as a whole. Ann shares what those resources are and why they're so incredibly important. About Ann Smith, JD, MBA: Ann R. Smith, JD, MBA is a “change-maker” who can speak to the importance of engaging families, youth, and community to address inequitable policies and practices that produce disparate outcomes across the intersecting education, juvenile justice, and health (physical / behavioral / mental) systems. Ann is Executive Director of African Caribbean American Parents of Children with Disabilities, Inc. (AFCAMP) commonly known as AFCAMP Advocacy for Children, a parent-led nonprofit organization headquartered in Hartford, CT. For 20+ years AFCAMP has provided resources, training and advocacy to promote authentic family and youth voices to inform decision-making within child-serving systems including education, juvenile justice, child welfare and children's behavioral health. Pursuing equity fuels AFCAMP's work to transform systems and reduce the adverse and disproportionate impacts experienced by youth of color and youth with disabilities. A multi-level approach is employed to reform systemic policies and practices that proliferate inequitable education, justice, health, and economic outcomes for children and families of color with a particular focus on those that are Black. Ann currently serves as a Tri-Chair of the Connecticut Children's Behavioral Health Plan Implementation Advisory Board. She also serves on other advisory bodies and nonprofit boards of directors. She held multiple roles over 16 years of service with the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) and its predecessors. Guest: Michele Thorne Interview Parents and caregivers of children with autism often feel overwhelmed. They can feel uncertain on where or how to learn about ways of taking care of their own needs, as well as absorbing all the knowledge they can obtain to create strong, healthy, and empowered lifestyles for their families. Michelle Thorne is a mother of two children. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Care 4 the Caregivers that is based out of Arizona. Michelle was living a planned life that was taken off course when her children were diagnosed with autism. She fell into a deep depression that led to the question of why there was no organization dedicated to the needs of supporting parents and caregivers in her new community. In her opinion, the disability community as a whole is sorely overlooked, so she set out to create an organization that provides support and access to resources available to the public. What sort of resources does Care 4 the Caregivers offer? Educational webinars of various topics 21 day fitness programs that can be done at home Guided meditation Roadmaps that are step by step guides to navigate systems of care Parent Empowerment course: Stepping Stones Triple P How does a family access the Stepping Stones Triple P program? Through grants the program is taught all online through the Care 4 the Caregivers website. Families from other states may access the program as well. They are currently offering free life coaching for caregivers. Partnered with the Arizona Caregiver Coalition, there are also free health and wellness coaches for the caregiving community. Are all the services free to parents? Yes!!! The goal is to provide completely free services and resources to the community. There are also some free events for the caregiver to attend and enjoy. Visual supports for families On the Care 4 the Caregivers website you can go to the resource by topic section to find visual supports without having to jump through hoops. Through the work of an Arizonan illustrator you can find free visual support on techniques like getting dressed or hand washing. Parents across the country are taking a more active role in education policy than ever before. But are their voices actually being heard? What impact is parent activism having on hot-button issues like masking, vaccinations, and CRT? Are political issues stealing oxygen from more traditional conversations around curricula, testing, and student support? And how should teachers, administrators, and policymakers respond? Wall Street Journal columnist Jason Riley joins Kevin in this episode to discuss the issues that matter to moms and dads here in 2022—and what schools and school leaders should be doing to best navigate a new age of parent empowerment.

Education is a never ending platform of agendas and disagreements of how to instruct students within schools. But where do parents fit in? With a background in special education Punam Saxena found that all parents need a better understanding of the academic needs of their child. A paradigm shift is needed in education. This shift is to empower parents to become partners in their child’s instructional development.
Aurelio Montemayor has been organizing parents for decades. His work at the Intercultural Research Development Association, or IDRA, as a family engagement coordinator has focused on a specific type of parent engagement, known as parent empowerment. He defines the four ways parents are typically engaged in schools as:As free labor and fundraisers.Through education programs designed to help improve parentingThrough education programs designed for self improvementThrough meaningful parent / caregiver empowermentThis fourth form of parent engagement - parent empowerment, is the only form that he believes leads to school wide improvement for all kids. When done well, it can serve as an important tool for equity, but it requires that all parents feel empowered.I'm joined by parent board member, Sarah Becker, to discuss what this looks like in practice, and how people with racial or economic privilege, who often enter schools with outsized empowerment, can act as allies.LINKS:Intercultural Research Development AssociationChicano MovementNo Child Left BehindWhen Middle-Class Parents Choose Urban Schools: Class, Race, and the Challenge of Equity in Public Education by Lynn Posey-MaddoxDespite The Best Intentions: How Racial Inequality Thrives in Good Schools by John B. "Our children are guiding us to freedom."- Michell Bowen, Parent Empowerment Coach This episode it the most important episode recorded for Inner Guidance Daily to date. Michelle Bowen, parent empowerment coach, shares how to embrace, commit, and conscious parenting. To activate the divine bond between child and parent. If you are or about to be a parent this show is a mandate. When we look at the awakening of the world it is imperative to usher in the new parenting paradigm. It is crucial to end cycles of pain and suffering placed on children. We have to have a generation of parents that deeply love their children, who see them as equal partners and value their guidance. For those who are not parents, this show is equally as important and a mandate. It will awaken the conscious parent within to serve your own inner-child and support the collective awakening within parenting. Continue the conversation with Michelle by connecting with her.
Mooniek Seebregts (and her business partner Martina Caviezel) are both recognized as The Parent Empowerment coaches. They specialize in empowering moms and dads to be the parents they have always aspired to be, helping them to succeed in the demanding "job" of raising confident, resilient, and loving kids.Over the years, these talented coaches through their business Great Parents Empower, have noticed that many parents unconsciously rely on the use of outmoded systems and counter-productive behaviors that were carried forward from their own upbringing. Often, when starting a family, new parents realize that they don't understand exactly what parenting entails. Soon, the list of must-do tasks ends up dominating life, work, and relationships, and slowly, parents lose track of who and how they really would like to be as parents. In the 7-week GreatParentsEmpower online course, Mooniek (and Martina) help parents learn the skills needed to be a great parent no matter the age of their kid(s). This is accomplished by dismantling old ideas and unreal fantasies. The following results are achieved: participants can make better choices; they cope better with challenging situations (family drama or kid drama); they acquire more confidence and patience; they create a great connection with their kid(s); they know how to deal with their expectations, unhelpful thoughts, feelings of guilt, stress, and the all-too-often-held sense of being overwhelmed--and more. Mooniek: "Acquiring the appropriate emotional education and tools prepares parents to better teach their kids how to become loving, resilient, and confident individuals . . ."Book 1: Empowering women, empowering lives. Doch was kommt dann? Du möchtest etwas an Deiner Lebensbalance verbessern?

"Parent Empowerment: Parents Taking Charge of Their Children's Education & Treatment" Guest: Lon Woodbury Allen and his guest, Lon Woodbury, discuss the expanding role parents are playing in choosing a school or program to help their troubled teens. Woodbury believes that "Parent Empowerment" is part of a consumer revolt that includes recent attempts to reduce the power of authorities to make decisions for parents. This includes options such as charter schools, vouchers, and home schooling. Lon Woodbury is an Independent Educational Consultant with 28 years experience helping parents who are seeking resources for their troubled children. He consults with individual parents, publishes a newsletter--The Woodbury Report--and also hosts an Internet radio talk show--Parent Choices for Struggling Teens--every Monday on LATalkRadio.com.
