Calixto Neto dança contra o racismo em Paris

Em directo da redacção

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 15, 2023 14:16

No início, introduz a questão do papel pardo e pergunta “qual é o papel do papel”. O que quer dizer?É uma tensão entre o imperativo e o “fake it until you make it”.

Where do you do your grocery shopping? Odds are wherever you go you are purchasing your products in a lot of single-use plastics. While that may be great for convenience, we all know it's not the best for the environment. Dry Goods Refillery in Montclair, NJ is the first plastic-free grocery store in the state of New Jersey and its owner, Rachel Garcia, is giving you a new way to shop!  Segment 1Rachel discusses the path to opening Dry Goods Refillery. Originally located in Maplewood, she moved to Montclair in September 2021. With no plastic or packaging, customers bring in their jars, bottles, and reusable bags to fill up on pasta, coffee, grains, and more. Rachel partners with local businesses and other sustainable suppliers to bring high quality products to her customers. She also describes what a first-time customer should expect when they walk in the door.  Today in New Jersey History: Larry Doby was born in Camden, SC, but made New Jersey his home. He moved to Paterson at the age of 14, played for the Newark Eagles in the Negro American League, and retired and spent the end of his life in Montclair.  Segment 2Rachel describes opening the original location 6 weeks before lockdown in 2020 and the journey to opening up the Montclair location through the pandemic. She also discusses some goals she has for the business. New Jersey Fun Fact: New Jersey's state bug is the honeybee. Segment 3  Dry Goods Refillery is located in Montclair and the connection it has with the community is tremendous. Not only was the community welcoming and supportive of the concept, other local businesses signed on to be suppliers without hesitation. Rachel is also very passionate about educating and talking to the community about ways they can reduce their waste. Let there be music! In this episode, Annette and Sarah are excited to incorporate Vis Viva, a song by The Singer and The Songwriter, into the podcast. While Sarah celebrates Mother’s Day with her family, Annette dives into a conversation with Rachel Garcia and Thu Tran, the creative couple behind The Singer and The Songwriter.   After years of relegating music to "nights and weekends" (check out the music video below!) while living in Los Angeles, Rachel and Thu decided to pack up their belongings and take to the road as touring musicians. They share how Vis Viva was developed, what it was like to perform at the San Francisco Opera House, and how faith, gratitude, and synchronicity have shaped their artistic journeys.
