It will eliminate the need to do market research for at least six months. The Hawke Method, by Erik Huberman Erik Huberman leads one of the fastest-growing digital agencies in America. He positioned the term “fractional CMO”. The book, The Hawke Method, is centered around the principles of awareness, nurturing, and building trust. The author gives concrete examples to illustrate ways to implement those principles. Eric recommends this book for anyone from beginners in the marketing field to seasoned entrepreneurs. Trust Me, I'm Lying: Confessions of a Media Manipulator, by Ryan Holiday Ryan Holiday has written several books, including Stillness Is the Key and Perennial Seller. Trust Me, I'm Lying is a frightening book, but it is also enlightening. In the book, the author explains that incorrect information does get corrected after an article has been published. He also discusses what he did with a well-known retail chain regarding using social media to launch a product. Who Not How by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy Dan Sullivan is a master coaching guru. Who not How is a principle that entrepreneurs and business owners who think they are irreplaceable and nobody can do things as well as they do, can apply to encourage them to move in the opposite direction. The Alter Ego Effect: The Power of Secret Identities to Transform Your Life, by Todd Herman Todd Herman is a fascinating person who coaches athletes and individuals. Why is it so hard to SAY OUT LOUD the GOOD we see in others? Why is it even harder to say good things about OURSELVES? Even when it's true? .Some people feel that, when they call out the GOOD in others, it makes them less than the words that leave their own mouth. But it's JUST the opposite. It actually makes you EXPAND. Because when you accept, when you acknowledge, You incorporate that good on some level-even without any action currently. Still, in this moment, You become more GOOD. You become GREATER. you become more beautiful. Just by seeing. And Saying. And acknowledging..What does this do for your children? Well, infinite. That's what this does. It has an infinite and immeasurable impact that surpasses just this moment. I’m going to give you tips, tricks, and resources to help use Google accessibility tools to reach all learners. Let’s get shakin’ y’all. Quick Tip of the Week In any Google Doc, use the keyboard shortcut, Control + Shift + 8 (Command + Shift + 8 on a Mac), to add a bullet to your document. This keyboard shortcut is amazing if you need to add bullet points quickly to a doc. Accessibility Tools with Google I did a ton of research before deciding to chat about this topic today because I wanted to put together the best resources for you. Check out Google’s Accessibility page here for a very comprehensive list of features broken down by application. Also, keep in mind that Android devices have built-in accessibility features as well. Chrome Keyboard Shortcuts Keyboard shortcuts are not just time savers; they are also accessibility features for students and teachers. If any of your students are unable to use a mouse, then these are imperative. CTRL + T will open a new tab in your browser CTRL + (1-8) will toggle to that corresponding tab within your browser. For instance, if you have 8 tabs open, CTRL + 6 will go to the 6th tab. CTRL + 9 will take you to the last tab that you have open. CTRL + Shift + T will reopen a closed tab. CTRL + W will close a tab. ALT + F + X will completely close Google Chrome. (Cmd + Q on a Mac) CTRL + +/- will zoom in and out on your browser. (Use CMD instead of CTRL on a Mac) Check out a full list of Chrome keyboard shortcuts here! For all the shortcuts you can use to zoom in and out and change text, image, and video sizes, use this resource. Why You May Need High Contrast Colors Some students may benefit from high-contrast colors rather than the regular settings we get with every browser. Some students can focus more easily when the background is black with white text rather than vice versa. Darker backgrounds are also easier on the eyes for everyone. There’s a Chrome extension you can use to change the color schemes for all webpages. You can find the extension here, but be sure to follow your school policies regarding installing extensions. Text to Speech (Reading with Your Ears) Some of the most useful extensions will read the text on the screen out loud to your students. These extensions help younger students learn how to read, but is also helpful for students who have dyslexia or other learning difficulties. One of my favorite Chrome extensions is Read & Write for Google Chrome. I shared a post on this extension a while back that you can read here, but essentially you install a toolbar, and then any webpage you visit can be read out loud to you. This tool is a fabulous accessibility feature to help all types of readers. You can change the voice, the speed, and it has a translation feature as well. Two more Chrome extensions that will read text from the screen are Speak It and Announcify. I shared these in a previous post about supporting struggling readers. With Speak It, you highlight what you want to hear, and it will read that section out loud with just a couple of clicks. Another favorite is Announcify because it does more than just read what is on the screen. It will open in a new page, and then it will blur out anything that is not being read. This is great for limiting distractions. Speech to Text (Dictation) Essentially speech to text is considered dictation, but this feature is so helpful to many different types of learners. Many apps and devices now have voice recognition built into their interfaces, making dictation much more accurate than it has been in the past. Even if you don’t need speech to text for an accommodation, many of us talk faster than we type, so this can be a huge time saver. The first resource I want to talk about is dictation.io. This is not an extension but instead a Chrome app. You click on the microphone and start speaking, and your words are shown on the notepad. The Voice Note II Chrome extension is another fantastic tool that opens a new clean window with a microphone in the top right. You click the microphone and start talking, and when you stop, your words are there. Both of these tools allow you to then copy, paste, tweet, email, message, etc. the words that you’ve spoken. If you’d like additional Chrome extensions and tools along with explanations of them, check out my Chrome Database. You can also watch this video that has additional information on Chrome and Chrome OS Accessibility. Chrome OS & Chromebooks The Chrome OS on Chromebook has several accessibility features built into the device so that you won’t need additional tools. I’ve listed a few resources below to help you familiarize yourself with the built-in tools. Chromebook accessibility help ChromeVox - Built-in screen reader On-screen keyboard (with microphone option) Chromebook keyboard shortcuts Accessibility Tools in Google Docs First off, I cannot say enough for having a full understanding of keyboard shortcuts. You can find a list of shortcuts specific to Docs here, but understanding these shortcuts and being able to share them with your students is unbelievably helpful. Google Docs also has built-in voice typing. You can find it under Tools > Voice Typing. It works very similarly to the apps and extensions mentioned above, but it allows you to talk your work directly into your document. You can also dictate your formatting options as well, like bold, italicize, etc. Here are 7 reasons you need to try voice typing in Google Docs. There is also an entire suite of accessibility settings directly within Docs. If you want to see the comprehensive list, go here. But this is where you turn on things for screen reader support, collaborator announcements, a screen magnifier, and others. You can find these options and settings in Tools as well. Final Thoughts When you’re creating a visual for a website or page, don’t forget to create pertinent alt-text. The alt-text allows you to put in a title and description. Most of the alt-text that you see on websites is the random name someone used to name the picture for their computer. Take the time to create meaningful titles for those students who aren’t able to process busy webpages. Insert your image, right-click, and select alt-text to update it. This will also give a screen reader a way to describe the image in text to speech tools. Another way to make your documents more accessible is to use the commenting and suggestions function. Screen readers can jump specifically to those comments rather than jumbling up the text on the page. One last thought about formatting. Screen readers do not acknowledge bold, italicized, and underlined words. Instead, if something is important, type “important” before the upcoming sentence. Additionally, use numbered lists instead of bullet points to better distinguish the order of importance in your documents. Also, start using headings rather than simply increasing your font size. Guest Introduction: Philip McKernan is an inspirational speaker, writer, and filmmaker. He works with entrepreneurs and business leaders all over the world who seek clarity about their future and want to move through roadblocks. Interview Summary: In this interview, Philip starts by talking about how pain inspired him to get into the work that he does. He reveals the tipping point that finally pushed him to make a change, and describes how intuition guided him down this new career path. Philip discusses the common types of problems that come up in his workshops. He walks us through his approach for dealing with underlying problems such as low self-esteem, loneliness, and anger. He explains how he helps people realize their problems, understand them, and then make adjustments to course-correct. We ask Philip how his work impacts the lives of his clients. He talks about bridging the past with the present, taking ownership of our lives, and understanding our gifts vs. our talents. Philip describes how the process of becoming more authentic is ongoing throughout our lives. We then ask him how his human experience has affected and influenced his work. Philip also reveals some of the personal issues he's worked through, and what made him decide to go to therapy. He explains why we all have a moral obligation to seek help and deal with our issues. Philip discusses how going through therapy affected and changed him. He expands on the idea of self-compassion by sharing a story about a man who attended one of his workshops. He explains how our self-talk influences the course of our lives. Philip also reveals one of the most impactful moments that he's had with a client. We then shift gears and ask him to discuss the main idea behind his first book, "Dead Man Walking." He talks about mindset vs. soulset, as well as leaning into our souls and following our intuition. Next, Philip discusses how success can trap us, and what we can do to get out of it. He provides some examples of how people often over-identify with the things that they do. He then goes more in depth on the concepts of mindset and soulset. Philip goes on to talk about his second book, "Rich on Paper Poor on Life," and explains how people can recognize if they're suffering. We ask him to discuss what he did to get to the point where he feels at peace with himself. He talks about the importance of letting go of things that aren't serving you, and taking action in the absence of clarity. Finally, Philip discusses his upcoming book, "One Last Talk," including where he got the idea for it, and what he came away with after writing it. He describes the concept of One Last Talk, and explains how sharing your truth can be very cathartic and therapeutic. Philip summarizes one of the most meaningful and profound speeches that he's heard from the One Last Talk participants. Today we're talking about the Truth of God, the Absolute, Unchanging and Eternal Truth That Sets you Free. God Sanctifies you, purify, consecrate, separate them for Yourself, make them holy by the Truth; His Word is Truth.(John 17:17) The Greek word that is translated as "truth" is also equally well translated into "real" or "reality." God's Word is reality. Another English equivalent is the word "genuine"—God's Word is Genuine.Jesus Christ is the Truth. (John 14:6) Jesus Christ is LORD! (Philippians 2:13) And Christ lives in you. (Galatians 2:20)The LORD is the true God and the God of Truth (the God Who is Truth). He is the Living God and the Everlasting King. (Jeremiah 10:10) The Greek word that is translated as "truth" is also equally well translated into "real" or "reality." God's Word is reality. (John 15:26) When you Receive the Message of God and Welcome it as the Word of God, it Works Effectually in you, Exercising its Superhuman Power in you who Trust In and Rely On It.-Ps 139:160, 1 Thes 2:13God Promises you that His Word that goes forth out of His mouth which you profess: it will not return to Him void without producing any effect, useless, but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:11)When people look to the world instead of God, they Fall into the Temptation of the Enemy, who is eager to make Truth either relative or nonexistent. The outcome becomes cynical, who have been wounded by the things that are not true in the world.You who is Beloved of God, Fix your Thoughts on What is True, and Honorable, and Right, and Pure, and Lovely and Admirable. Think About Things that are of a Good Report and Worthy of Praise. In our world, it is too easy to speak what is wrong rather than focusing on what is right. We speak things into (or out of) our lives by what we say. Our mouth and the things that we say can sabotage our own desires and the plans that God has for us. Our words often betray us. We need to work to remove the negative from our conversation. More than the negative, we often express doubts, fear and uncertainty in our words. The age in which we live make it easy to forget the things that God has said about us. Our text in Mark where Jesus calms the storm is powerful. Not only did he rebuke the waves, He rebuked the disciples even more forcefully. Why was He so upset. It wasn’t so much how they had reacted to the storm, but more than they had forgotten what He said: “Let’s go to the other side.” Jesus was angry with them because He had already declared the outcome. The storm distracted them from the promise that He said that they would go to the other side. They allowed their circumstances to cause them to lose focus of the fact that the outcome had already been determined. Storms will come up in life. What we say in the midst of these storms is very important. We can either be let by the circumstances or by the promise that God has given. When they woke Him to ask “do you not care that we perish?” He had already given the word, and they let their circumstance distract them from that word. God has promised that we will live and not die. We need to learn to speak what we seek, not what we see. When we allow our circumstances to dominate our words, we will invite the wrath of God and risk losing the miracle that God had for us. We can give into our fears and doubts, or hold on to the promise. God does not always tell us what will be involved in realizing the promise. The bible is full of stories of men and women who had a promise and then had to go through storms, trials and tumult before they got to the promise. God’s word is what will transform any situation. Lord save us from the negative atmosphere in which we live and let us speak the word of God into our lives.

Many people discount the “name it and claim it” preachers. Bro. Hilton points out that this is biblical. God says things and it began to happen. “Let there be light and there was light.” The bible says “ye have not because ye ask not.” It also says “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh.” The heart believes, but the heart confesses. We open our mouth for everything else, why not for God? Everything God said in Genesis 1, is still working today. God spoke it and it was. Nothing will become void that God speaks into existence. We release our faith with our mouth. The healing, the blessing, the solution to a need is already there we simply need to speak it into existence by our faith: “I can make it.” “I will make it.” “I won’t do that.” We can talk our selves out of a blessing, or we can talk ourselves into a blessing. Fear keeps many people from realizing their blessing. Bro. Hilton explains that fear is not an emotion, it is a spirit. When the spirit of fear comes over a person, it can paralyze them and inhibit their faith. By speaking our faith out loud, we can combat and defeat the spirit of fear.
