In this episode Jayda asks what self-love means to Rachel and hears how for her true self-love begins with knowing yourself and when to step off the “life escalator” to reclaim your authenticity. Rachel explains the courage muscle and why you have to train it to embrace your own values, including her own personal choice to remain childfree, as well as why she doesn't want that to be radical. Jayda also asks Rachel about her amazing foundation and why Rachel advocates and fundraises to make therapy more accessible to black women and girls, but why at the same time as providing free therapy to them she also campaigns to support more black therapists to be able to train. Rachel gives insight into why she thinks it's important to work with Black therapists if you are black, as well as her astute reasoning for why it's more cost-effective! Jayda also heard Rachel's advice for loving with grief and the power of reimagining in life, especially for Black people. This past fall equinox, I sat down with Cal Callahan to talk about the process of writing my first book. There was a lot to unpack, including the question of why am I writing the book in the first place. I talk about how my motivation changed along the way (with a little nudge from the fungus kingdom). I also touch on how the mainstream publishing world functions in an age of censorship and cancellation. Then, we move into the chapter I'm writing about childhood abuse and wrestling with my karmic entanglement with the perpetrator. The conversation wraps up with a challenge from the live audience for me—and perhaps for men in general—to be less self-sufficient and to reach out for support when we're going through big stuff.

In today's episode, we're flipping the script! If you tuned in to last week's episode, you would have heard me interviewing my friend, Cal Callahan, where we talked all about the major shift he's made to his investing strategy, focusing less on building his net-worth, and more on cash-flow and passive income strategies that will allow him to achieve lifestyle freedom. This week, Cal's interviewing me on his amazing podcast, The Great Unlearn, where we go even deeper into the world of passive income to uncover the strategies that are often overlooked by many investors too eager to make a quick buck rather than focusing on substantial, long-term rewards. In this episode, you'll learn:✅ Alternative investing strategies such as leveraging debt, tapping into private equity, and exploring industrial outdoor storage spaces.✅ The largely untapped potential in mobile home parks and industrial real estate, especially with zoning laws becoming more accommodating - making these sectors highly promising for future investments.✅ The massive impending wealth transfer projected to exceed $100 trillion and strategies for capitalizing on this shift through savvy cash flow management and off-market deals. You're also going to hear how maximizing my health & fitness AND what's in store for the expanded edition of The Lifestyle Investor book. How might we honor and follow the authentic call of our purpose? This week, guest Rachel Cargle shares in a rich and enthralling conversation with Ayana that calls forth themes of rootedness, truth, and renaissance. Rachel honors a rootedness that comes from deep connection to ancestry, to Blackness, and to the earth, and she recognizes the way the earth and its cycles offer us examples of what presence and reciprocity look like. As Rachel points out in her forthcoming book A Renaissance of Our Own, we are in need of a renaissance. Attuned to years of intense work around race and racial consciousness within the United States, Rachel uses the dreams and desires from this time as the raw materials for revolution, Rachel envisions a collective renaissance that centers on intergenerational conversation. Rooted in trust, how might we reimagine this world together? Rachel Elizabeth Cargle is an activist, entrepreneur, and philanthropic innovator. She is the founder of The Loveland Group; a family of companies including Elizabeth's Bookshop & Writing Centre, a literary space that celebrates marginalized voices and The Great Unlearn, an adult learning platform that centers the teaching of BIPOC thinkers. What does learning mean to you? Do you have a practice for unlearning too? Today's episode is a special one because we're sharing a conversation that Nikki had with OwnTrail founder Kt McBratney about the value or the purpose of having a practice of continual learning and unlearning to navigate an ever-changing world with authenticity. Originally a video livestream, this conversation dives into giving yourself permission to evolve, be wrong and ask questions; to understanding how different people are impacted by the traditional approach to “learning” in our society and offers guidance on how to align with the most resonate ways to learn and unlearn while also stretching you outside of your comfort zone. What's something you learned or unlearned lately that has changed your perspective around you? For show notes and more info, visit nikkiinnocent.com/podcast
Cal Callahan is a podcast host of "The Great Unlearn", investor, & full spirited human.Cal and I discuss:- His transition from a trader to following his higher calling- The power of podcasting - Vulnerability in our relationships - The near death moment that changed his life- How to start "unlearning"- Our relationship with death"We grew up in a world we didn't create. And one idea after the next—whether it was culture or society—we were told how to look, how to feel, and who to be. We were told that if we checked off the “right” boxes (think: career, car, money), we'd feel good, we'd be whole, and—naturally—we'd be set. But, turns out, there's more to the story. On The Great Unlearn, Cal dives into unlearning and questioning what the world taught us, and—in the process—how to be the truest version of yourself, minus the bullshit. Whether it's figuring out how to navigate a relationship, dealing with your emotions, diving into spirituality, or just feeling comfortable in your own skin, Cal and friends navigate the choppy waters of what it really takes to unlearn all the ideas we took for granted, and how to be the best version of what, sometimes, can be so hard to be: yourself."Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cal.callahan/Website: https://www.thegreatunlearn.com/Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/TheGreatUnlearn
One of the most profound things that psychedelics & plant medicines have illuminated for me is the importance of questioning everything I think I know. The art of questioning is something that I feel is an innate human quality as it is from questioning what we think we know that we are able to dig deeper into our experience of life, consciously choose what we want to believe about life as individuals & as a result, become individuated & sovereign in nature. Todays guest on the show is an individual who has made it his life's work to cyclically unlearn what he has learned throughout his experience of life in order to discover more hues in the color wheel of his life & continue approaching life from the mind of a child, full of curiosity, wonder & imagination. He is the host of “The Great Unlearn” podcast, which dives into the eternal mystery of what we think we know & aims to guide those looking to increase their quality of life in realizing that it is by unlearning, rather than learning, that we can connect deeper with the essence of our souls, follow our hearts & unlearn our way into a totally new state of being. In addition, he is also the author of “She Becomes”, which he wrote as a dads guide to help fellow dads connect deeper with their daughters. Trust me when I say that this episode is going to dive deep into some very curiosity provoking subjects & is sure to ignite the fire within each of you question askers to deepen your bond with the unknown & find the liberation within the notion that it is not what we know that matters, but rather how much we can find solace in the eternal mystery of the unknown that will allow us to find peace within our experience of life.Show Notes:(2:32) Cal joins the show!(6:59) How Cal first got into plant medicine.(15:16) Cal finally realized, he was tired… and what rest did for him.(22:23) Learning from the Devine masculine.(26:32) Check out FreedomBuilderz.com! Podcast Magazine Power Quotes From The Show Witnessing Radical Body Vitality Through Fasting "As you are able to improve the vitality of the body with a tool like fasting, you're going to be happier, process information better, and there will be parts of your brain that will be able to communicate with each other better and you'll be able to make sense of things. You'll be able to have a more powerful divine connection. Everything will work better and when we first start out on this journey, getting the vitality of the body is super important, especially for the brain and nervous system for radical health transformation." - Dr. John Lieurance Unpacking Fear vs Anxiety "I notice that so many people use the words, 'fear' and 'anxiety' often interchangeably and when I first became sober, I used to just be so consumed with fear. However, as I started to unpack it, I realized that fear is when a wolf walks through the door and your life is in danger; a totally natural, healthy response is to be in fear and get away in that moment. Anxiety is if you're sitting here and there's no wolf on the property and you're obsessively thinking about what would happen if a wolf walked through the door right now. Fear is, in its truest sense for me, something that is immediate and righteous but anxiety is imaginary and always future-based that has no basis in reality. So, how can we uproot that anxiety and have greater open awareness that keeps us grounded in this present moment?" - Luke Storey The Wounded Healer's Magic "The magic really happens when you take yourself out of victimhood and take ownership of your life. When we play the victim, we're just at the world's mercy and totally powerless. Opposite of that, when you transform into the wounded healer, you are the one that carries the real medicine that you get to share with others." - Cal Callahan Botanic Tonics | Feel Free Save 40% on your Botanic Tonics Feel Free order with the code WELLNESS40 at wellnessforce.com/FeelFree A feel good wellness tonic of ancient plants from the South Pacificand Southeast Asia where they've been used socially and in wellness for centuries. This was a special episode for us. Cal Callahan has been a mentor and coach (from a far) for us as podcast hosts and thought leaders in this Building Men space we occupy. Cal's podcast (The Great Unlearn) was a motivational destination as we changed everything and took the "Path of Not Here." We talk about masculinity, tribes, relationships, showing up as the most authentic human being as possible and having the courage to rewrite our own story. Cal Callahan, a retired trader, hosts The Great Unlearn podcast and runs Unlearn Ventures — an investment fund and incubator for forward-thinking projects. He lives in Austin, TX with his wife, three kids, two dogs and pet pig named Petunia.Through The Great Unlearn Podcast, Cal shares conversations with some of the world's leading experts & performers to help men and women unlearn their way into a new way of being. No human being is just ‘one thing'. You're not just a banker or an artist or an entrepreneur. Human beings are multivariate. There's a lot of dimensionality to people—and in The Great Unlearn, we unpack that complexity, one layer at a time. Whether it's spirituality, health, relationships, or fitness (even biohacking), we strip away and unlearn all the things we've “learned”—and build it back up to what's true for us. Cal Callahan is a retired trader, host of The Great Unlearn podcast , and runs Unlearn Ventures, which is an investment fund and incubator for forward-thinking projects. The product of a hard charging father, Cal was supplied with the tools necessary to perform well in school and even better professionally as a trader. It wasn't until after facing a life altering experience at the Route 91 mass shooting in Las Vegas in 2017 that Cal began his mission of Unlearning and questioning everything and consciously deciding how he wanted to live the rest of his life. He then left the big city trading lifestyle in Chicago at the age of 41 and moved his family down to Austin, Texas, where they live today. I'll mention this again later when I'm talking with Cal, but the thing I appreciate most about him is the curiosity he brings to the table. He's always down to truly consider the ideas that challenge his beliefs, which I believe is a prerequisite for true growth and a quality we're sorely missing in the world today. Above it all, he's an incredible man, husband, and father, and I am super excited to share this conversation with you guys. Discussion Points Cal describes his childhood Earning his father's love as a child and younger adult Holding space to handle anything our kids do How being at the Route 91 mass shooting changed his life Explaining what Unlearning means Unlearning in marriage Where we need to fight the urge to fix things Dealing with shame as we grow and learn new things Balancing everything going on in life Not robbing our kids of living their own experiences Showing up for our kids in the way that they need us What Cal wants his legacy to be with his kids Links The Great Unlearn Podcast: https://www.thegreatunlearn.com/ Instagram: @cal.callahan

In this episode we hear from stylist and heritage sewist, Allison Latham-Jones. Allison talks about what sets her apart as a stylist and how her artistic eye comes into play. We talks about points of intersection between fashion, creative expression, performance, advocacy and more. Allison also talks about the freedom she feels upon taking fashion into her own hands with the sewing machine, and the relationship between art, craft and business as a stylist. Allison also talks about her grandmother, her “artistic root,” and how she became a stylist. Lastly, we talk about how COVID has impacted people's bodies and their fashion and Allison shares some powerful client stories that will make you re-think your relationship with your body and the freedom to wear what you want. Allison also recommends these additional resources for more information on racial justice: Me and White Supremacy workbook Me and White Supremacy — the book Rachel Cargle’s #Dothework Challenge and the Great Unlearn: “Monthly self-paced, self-priced learning collective, committed to celebrating and highlighting the genius of academics of colour. We have created an online learning platform rooted in providing resources and critical discourse to aid in unlearning. I believe that knowledge leads to action. The Great Unlearn platform is used to both provide education and inspire meaningful action.” https://kxci.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Allison-Latham-Jones-Mini.mp3
Cal Callahan is the host of The Great Unlearn podcast, on which he dives into unlearning and questioning what the world taught us, and—in the process—how to be the truest version of yourself, minus the bullshit. Chase and Cal kick things off with a discussion on parenting, with Cal disavowing the oft-quoted saying, “There's no such thing as a bad kid; just a bad parent.” There was a time he believed it, but not anymore. He now insists that parenting is about showing up for your kids while allowing them to experience the fullness of life. It's about setting appropriate boundaries but never beating yourself up when your children stray on occasion. “I'm not doing this because I want to be a cool dad,” says Cal. “I'm doing it because I want this kid to have his own experience. And I want to show him that I trust him and I trust his judgement.” And just as Cal had to unlearn everything he thought he knew about raising kids, so too did he have to forgo many of his beliefs about how to live his own life. Listen in as Cal dares us to question our belief system, to figure out whether our beliefs are really ours or someone else's, or to simply discover whether or not we've been BSing ourselves all our lives. He invites us on a journey back into our body, where we're able to put our trust in our hearts over our minds. Finally, he challenges us to continue loving our wounded selves even as we unlearn our old paradigms and step into a new phase of knowing. Follow Cal @cal.callahan Follow Chase @chase_chewning Key Highlights Cal reflects on how he was forced to reevaluate his “picture-perfect” existence when he found himself fearing for his life during the 2017 Las Vegas shooting. Most people never experience a radical come-to-Jesus moment as Cal did in 2017. How can the average person find their own unique path to healing and making big changes in their life? How can you continue to love the past version of yourself and glean valuable lessons from that “previous” life as you step into a new phase of knowing. On this episode, we talked about: Collaborating instead of competing, escaping who I am, understanding why I'm here, seeing things in a different way, embracing individuality, letting go of being right, being curious about things, thinking essentially for yourself, co-creating spaces to be curious, embracing the fact that you don't know, Redefining what purpose is, living your purpose instead of looking for it, checking in with your body, having own direct experience, inviting the feminine in your life and so much more! When I quit my job years ago, a lot of people thought I was crazy for doing it. But why? Was it because I had checked off all the "right" boxes; or because I was making good money and could make even more if I had stayed? From the moment we're born, we're told how to look, how to feel, and who to be. We're taught to do things a certain way and to follow a certain path. But if we're not careful, it can prevent us from living in alignment with our true values. For me, the goal was NOT to make more money, the goal was to buy my time back... So, quitting my job was the right decision. And of course, the money followed, but if I had listened to what everyone else had told me to do, I would never have achieved the lifestyle freedom that I have today. This is an important lesson that leads to today's discussion with my friend Cal Callahan. Cal is the owner of Unlearn Ventures, which is an investment fund and incubator for forward-thinking projects. He's also the host of The Great Unlearn — a podcast that empowers people to question everything they think they know about life. Whether it's spirituality, health, relationships, or fitness, Cal's superpower is to help others unpack and unlearn preconceived ideas and beliefs, so they can build a better, truer version of themselves. So, instead of discussing a specific asset class or investing strategies, today's episode is all about questioning our beliefs. Cal will challenge you to think differently, open your mind, find joy, and approach life with insatiable curiosity — a valuable asset for anyone who wants to live life on their terms, not someone else's! So honored to have Jerry "JW" Ross on with us today. Yes, I said US – Josh Trent up in The Great Unlearn studio for a fun Co-Hosting episode! Josh introduced me to JW's Botanic Tonics last year and I've been HOOKED ever since (more about this tonic in the episode + discount code below). JW comes from a unique and highly successful financial background; beginning in the energy business, then to financial technology, and now onto utilizing ancient healing plants to provide tonics that support our wellbeing. He has an incredibly inspiring and relatable story – specific to living the financial dream that many crave but realizing that if you're not well within then not much else really matters. This weeks episode of the Live Your Purpose Podcast I had the pleasure of virtually sitting with the one and only Rachel Cargle. Rachel is an entrepreneur, writer, activist and philanthropist. I spoke with Rachel about my personal appreciation and support of her and her work. She's originally from Akron, she's a Sagittarius (we definitely are the best sign by far), and more importantly she talks that shit to white folks in a way that is fearless, necessary and she knows what the hell she is talking about. She created the Loveland Group which has a series of companies including The Great Unlearn, Elizabeth's of Akron, and The Loveland Foundation. The Loveland Foundation is groundbreaking, unique and powerful in providing support and financial coverage of mental health therapy for Black women and girls. Rachel spoke to us about her process of being strategic and intentional with forming relationships and the value of putting in real ground work to fulfill her dreams. In staying committed and present, she made national recognition after calling out the feminist movement, although being very beneficial, she criticized them for upholding white supremacy and oppression towards Black women. One of my favorite characteristics about Rachel that I appreciate most is her fearlessness and her commitment to taking action. I also asked Rachel about her definition of “freedom” and the value of it. We agreed that just “surviving” whiteness and oppression isn't the way towards freedom, you must take it and take it today. Cal Callahan is a friend who had a long and successful career as a financial trader. But at a certain point, he wasn't happy and didn't feel authentic in his role. He did what few successful people really know how to do: get out while he's ahead. Cal has a humble perspective on life, which is refreshing and rare for someone in their mid-40's. A reflection of that is The Great Unlearn podcast that he hosts. If you feel "stuck" in a career position, I highly recommend checking out his wisdom.
Kelley James is a unique guest on The Great Unlearn today and shares a ton of wisdom surrounding the life-giving concept of simply learning to be yourself.Kelley is a husband, father and musical savant– freestyling his way through PGA Tours and private events, engaging with his audience in a way that only he can. He may have given us a dose of this gift of his within the podcast ;)In this episode he shares his realization that aspirations can only get us so far and that dreams can sometimes even guide us away from our own innate gifts and true path. After all, learning to be yourself and honing in on our own desires is what really creates a fulfilling life.Kelley and I explore many lessons including… → Always returning to our inner tracker.→ Deviating from our dreams to be on our own unique path, not someone else's.→ Giving ourselves grace to pivot when something doesn't serve us anymore.→ How dreams are here to inspire us, not drive us.→ How the comparison game robs us of enjoying our own unique gifts in life.Connect with Kelley:• Instagram: https://bit.ly/30n7Slo• Website: https://www.kelleyjames.comConnect with Cal:• UnlearnX: https://www.thegreatunlearn.com/unlearn-x• Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cal.callahan/• Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thegreatunlearn• YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/thegreatunlearn/• Website: https://www.thegreatunlearn.com• Newsletter: https://www.thegreatunlearn.com/newsletter

I am thrilled to have Boyd Varty back on The Great Unlearn this week! Boyd is a lion tracker, storyteller, life coach, and wildlife activist. Even while surviving many uncertain and life-threatening encounters while growing up on the Londolozi Game Reserve in South Africa, he holds that his truest challenge was that of discovering purpose — something he now helps people do all over the world. In this episode, Boyd shares about his recent experience of 40 days and 40 nights in the South African wilderness alone. Like most of us, this pandemic put him in a space that he wanted to resist and brought feelings of uncertainty. but once he embraced the season for what it is, he headed out into the wild and found rich meaning through clarity and stillness. During this conversation Boyd and I discuss...How nature allows stillness, connection to Spirit, and the feeling of pure being. How being in ceremony shows us where we are living based on others programming and allows us to develop our own.Tapping into nature's intelligence reminds us of our own deep knowing.Boyd's real-time mentoring of Cal as he heads into a 5-day nature retreat (Dieta). And more…REFERENCED IN EP:Enneagram – https://www.enneagraminstitute.com40 Days & 40 Nights Podcast – https://boydvarty.com/about/40-days-40-nights/Adyashanti – https://www.adyashanti.orgWalking With Bears: On Bridges to Earth's New Era by Will Taegel – https://www.amazon.com/Walking-Bears-Bridges-Earths-New-ebook/dp/B07818K172Sacred Ceremony by Steven Farmer – https://www.amazon.com/Sacred-Ceremony-Steven-D-Farmer/dp/1561709816Mystic Art Medicine Deck – https://www.mysticartmedicine.com/mystic-art-medicine-deckConnect with Boyd–Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/boyd_varty/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/boydvartyincWebsite: https://boydvarty.comGet Boyd's Book: https://boydvarty.com/book/the-lion-trackers-guide-to-life/Connect with Cal–Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cal.callahan/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thegreatunlearnYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/c/thegreatunlearn/Website: https://www.thegreatunlearn.comNewsletter: https://www.thegreatunlearn.com/newsletterUnlearnX: https://www.thegreatunlearn.com/unlearn-x

In this episode I'm sharing my conversation with Psychologist Dr. Angel Montfort. Together we explore the impact of racism on mental health, physical health, and relationships. We discuss ways we can begin to talk to our children about race, why raising "color blind" children is not the answer, and navigating difficult conversations about privilege. Dr. Montfort shares the disparities that continue to exist in the peripartum wellness world for people of color. We identify resources and Dr. Montfort shares ways that we can begin to take steps TODAY to address the racial disparities experienced in our communities. Published at a time when many parts of the world begin to see shoots of recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, this week's episode of The Divine Feminist delves into the time between times and world between worlds that many of us seem to find ourselves in. Sharing a little of her own lockdown journey, Ceryn speaks of the experiences many of us have had during this time of sheltering in place, and asks how we navigate a world that is no longer the one we shut out for protection, but isn't yet all that we know it can be.Episode notesAs this episode was recorded, crowds were taking to the streets to protest police brutality against Black people following the murder of George Floyd. For those wishing to continue their anti-racism education, please check out Academic and Writer Rachel Cargle's The Great Unlearn, which can be found here .The book Ceryn quoted at the end of today's podcast is Transformed by Birth, by Britta BushnellCeryn also mentions the music of Sam Fender, her soundtrack to lockdown 2020. Anyone else finding that this period of lockdown has encouraged a host of deep healing and even deeper thinking? With that in mind, a year after the birth of the Divine Feminist podcast it turns out that this idea of divine feminism is ready to explain itself a little more deeply to the world... So grab a cuppa and let's get philosophical! Our world right now is determined to separate us; to remind us that we're all out for ourselves and that we should be afraid of anything and everything that we'd consider to be "different". Yet, what if that's all lies?Religious and spiritual traditions throughout history have reiterated the concept of wholeness and that idea that we are all connected as part of all that there is. But what does that even mean? And how does it apply today in our increasingly individualistic societies? What's more, what does it mean for what we call divine feminism?Episode notesWithin today's podcast Ceryn mentioned that she is currently part of Academic and Writer Rachel Cargle's The Great Unlearn. You can read more about TGU here and more about Rachel's wider work at her website, www.rachelcargle.com.The article by Shay-Akil McLean is called Race, Ethnicity and Racism, and is available at Shay-Akil's website decolonizeallthethings.com.Ceryn mentioned two books during today's episode, they are:Earth is Hiring by Peta KellyA New Republic of the Heart by Terry PattenMusic is Start again, copyright Alex (2014), sourced through YouTube and available to hear in full hereIf you'd like to know more about working with Ceryn, and about Soul-Led Therapy, her approach to talking therapies, click hereAnd remember, to keep up with the latest from Ceryn and the podcast follow @divine.feminist on Instagram
In this podcast we focus on the importance of orchestrated struggle to know yourself and the value of having a brotherhood or community. Aubrey shares insane stories from his recent trip to Poland to study under the breath Maestro Wim Hof with a band of brothers. He also shares his wisdom gained in 6 days in total darkness. There's so much to pull from this episode...wisdom, experience, choosing self-love over self-loathing, plenty of laughs and a few tears...it wouldn't be a TGU podcast without some raw emotion...and was nice that I wasn't the only one this time. My intention with this episode is to introduce myself — formally Jon Callahan, but known to most as Cal — and share the capital-W Why behind starting The Great Unlearn. I originally wrote a script for this, but as I was reading it, I just wasn't sure if that was the right way to introduce the real me. So I asked some friends for their advice — shout out to Carrie Doll and Dave Regula for the assist — and they came through big time. And that's really a big part of what I want people to get out of this show: we've been taught that high achievers should buckle down, muscle through, and try to do everything alone, but that's BS advice. The people who really accomplish a lot, the people who really change lives, know when to ask for help — and I want my show to be a source for advice and stories that will help us all on this journey to becoming the best versions of ourselves. More than that, the people who really live fulfilling lives don't do what they were told they should do. They dive deep, interrogate themselves, and figure that shit out themselves. I'm still early in this journey, but I hope you'll walk it alongside me. There will be tears (there might already be a few in this episode) but I know that we'll be able to walk farther together. We Discuss: 00:05:30 - The catalyst for my awakening: the mass shooting on October 1st, 2017 00:10:50 - Asking yourself, for the first time, “Why the fuck am I here?” 00:11:45 - Unlearning the lies and unspoken agreements that were drilled into us as kids, from our parents and society as a whole 00:18:00 - The Great Unlearn isn't about throwing away everything we learned — it's about questioning them, maybe for the first time, and deciding whether or not those agreements serve us 00:20:00 - The idea of “Working In” (as opposed to Working Out) 00:22:00 - Why I chose The Great Unlearn as the title for this show 00:25:30 - Maximization Vs. Optimization 00:34:40 - My favorite quote: “Comparison is the thief of joy.” 00:48:50 - A text from a friend that rocks me to my core (in a good way) every time I read it 00:54:30 - Only speaking from direct experience 00:59:05 - “Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.” Resources: Listen to my interview on The Inner Circle with Carrie Doll (https://www.carriedoll.co/post/cal-callahan) Chekinstitute.com (https://chekinstitute.com/) Drjoedispenza.com (https://drjoedispenza.com/) Burningman.org (https://burningman.org/) Connect with Cal: Website | https://www.thegreatunlearn.com (https://www.thegreatunlearn.com) Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/bunkercal/ (https://www.instagram.com/bunkercal/) Twitter | https://twitter.com/BunkerCal (https://twitter.com/BunkerCal) Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/BunkerCal (https://www.facebook.com/BunkerCal) YouTube | The Great Unlearn (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCneI0an6qiL7t-7sne9TjhQ) Subscribe to the Great Unlearn Podcast: Apple Podcasts | https://apple.co/3a4ATpc (https://apple.co/3a4ATpc) Spotify | https://spoti.fi/2Rb7emv (https://spoti.fi/2Rb7emv) Google Play | http://bit.ly/2sehHUE (http://bit.ly/2sehHUE) Stitcher | http://bit.ly/2t8wHE6 (http://bit.ly/2t8wHE6) If you are called to support the podcast, please share the show with a friend!!! My name is Jon Callahan — you can call me Cal — and I invite you to join me as we dive deep into understanding and undoing the programming within us. We were told that if we look a certain way, act a certain way, and follow the “right” path, that we would get everything: a 40-year career, a nice car, and enough 0's at the end of our paycheck. But, along the way, you discovered that, perhaps, that isn't what you wanted, that isn't what makes you feel whole, that isn't what makes you feel fulfilled. So it's time to start asking questions and unlearning the BS that we were fed growing up. I'm excited to embark on this journey with all of you. It's difficult to navigate these choppy waters alone — to unlearn all the ideas we took for granted — but, if we can lean on each other for support, I know we can all learn how to actually be the best version of ourselves.
