19% of U.S. adults report frequently or always feeling lonely, new Yahoo/YouGov poll finds. Here's why — and which age group is affected most.Yahoo Life, By Erica L. Green, on May 20, 2024https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/19-of-us-adults-report-frequently-or-always-feeling-lonely-new-yahooyougov-poll-finds-heres-why--and-which-age-group-is-affected-most-090036452.htmlHuman beings are inherently social creatures, yet the phenomenon of loneliness is an undeniable reality that can strike even when surrounded by others. Jimmy delves into the essence of loneliness, exploring how different age groups might define and measure it uniquely. This exploration is sparked by an article titled "19% of U.S. Adults Report Frequently or Always Feeling Lonely," which immediately brings social media to mind. The pervasive role of social media in our lives creates an ironic twist, where the digital age fosters connectivity yet amplifies feelings of isolation.Loneliness is not a one-size-fits-all experience; it varies across demographics. Older adults might experience it differently than younger individuals, with each group facing unique challenges and triggers. For some, loneliness stems from a lack of physical interaction, while for others, it's an emotional void that digital interactions fail to fill. The statistics are stark: nearly one in five adults frequently or always feels lonely, highlighting a critical societal issue. The modern epidemic of loneliness is often exacerbated by social media, which promises connection but can leave users feeling more isolated. The constant comparison and curated perfection seen online can deepen feelings of inadequacy and solitude. However, loneliness is not just a byproduct of the digital age; it's a timeless issue that has affected people throughout history, though its manifestations may have evolved.Jimmy's comments underscores the importance of understanding and addressing loneliness. It's a silent struggle that many endure, often unnoticed and unspoken. Bringing this issue to light is crucial for fostering empathy and finding solutions. From the statistical realities to personal experiences, the narrative sheds light on the multifaceted nature of loneliness, urging society to recognize and mitigate its impact.#Loneliness  #DigitalAge #MentalHealth The Non-Prophets, Episode 23.26.4 featuring Cynthia McDonald, Jimmy Jr., and Cindy PlazaBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-non-prophets--3254964/support.

Show notes: https://www.tamihackbarth.com/blog/episode-231 How are you? Any vacation plans to share? I would love to hear about your trips, your traditions and how you spend your time away from home when you get it. I didn't grow up with yearly vacations so this is all new territory for me. Please share! Are you on Threads? I am one of those weirdos that loves meeting new people on social media platforms, so when it started I jumped right in. It reminds me of what Twitter was back in the beginning….a cocktail party full of smart people I don't know yet and I can attend while wearing my pajamas. That's where I met this week's podcast guest. We were both chatting people up on Threads and started talking to each other. We got to meet in real life at Mom2 Summit and as she said, “the conversation was so good we walked to the bathroom together and kept right on talking”. Have you met Tara Clark of Modern Mom Probs? She is a delight. Check out the Modern Mom Probs mission: Our mission is to support women through the trials and tribulations of modern-day motherhood, normalizing taboo topics through empathy and a good laugh. With a focus on honesty, relatability, and humor, we candidly share our experiences, creating an inclusive environment for all mothers to feel seen, heard, and connected. Tara Clark is an author, speaker, content creator, podcaster, and the founder of Modern Mom Probs.  After becoming a mom and recognizing a hole in the online space for moms to authentically connect, she launched her Instagram account in 2017. She has since built a valued community, solidifying herself as a humorous, trusted voice in the parenting space.  Her work has been featured in prominent publications including Buzzfeed, Today, Motherly, Parents.com, Scary Mommy, Romper and Yahoo Life.  She is the author of Modern Mom Probs: A Survival Guide for 21st-Century Mothers and the founder of Modern Mom Style Box, a clothing rental subscription service for busy moms. She is also the host of the Modern Mom Probs podcast, where she seeks solutions for modern mom problems by interviewing medical experts, therapists, popular content creators, and best-selling authors.

School Teachers Seeking Their Sugar Daddy Savior?Yahoo Life reports: While it might not seem like the most acceptable side hustle for an educator, it's likely among the most lucrative. The average sugar baby makes an estimated $2800 monthly from their “daddies”, SeekingArrangement reported at the organization's 2018 summit. Those who rely on an extra salary as a way to make ends meet are far from alone. According to EdWeek, one in five teachers have at least one extra job to supplement their income — and most of them aren't glamorous. Sugar Daddy Trend Among American Teachers Raises Concerns Over Financial Strain**In an alarming trend indicative of the financial struggles faced by educators across the nation, a growing number of school teachers in America are turning to unconventional means to make ends meet. Reports have surfaced highlighting the plight of teachers resorting to seeking out sugar daddies as a means to supplement their income, igniting a debate on the adequacy of teacher salaries and the broader issue of financial insecurity in the education sector. The phenomenon underscores the harsh reality faced by many educators who find themselves grappling with stagnant wages amidst rising living costs. With salaries often failing to keep pace with inflation and the demands of daily life, some teachers have felt compelled to explore alternative avenues to supplement their earnings. This has led to a surge in teachers turning to sugar daddy websites and platforms, where individuals offer financial support in exchange for companionship. The situation has sparked concern among education advocates and policymakers, who warn of the detrimental effects of financial strain on teachers' well-being and the quality of education provided to students. The emotional toll of juggling multiple jobs or engaging in unconventional arrangements can take a toll on teachers' mental health and job satisfaction, ultimately impacting their effectiveness in the classroom. Moreover, the reliance on sugar daddies to meet basic financial needs raises ethical questions and exposes educators to potential risks. Critics argue that such arrangements can compromise the integrity of the teaching profession and blur the boundaries between personal and professional relationships. In response to these developments, calls for action have intensified, with advocates pushing for comprehensive reforms to address the root causes of teacher financial insecurity. This includes advocating for fairer compensation packages, better benefits, and increased support for educators facing economic hardship.Education policymakers and lawmakers are being urged to prioritize investments in the education sector to ensure that teachers are adequately compensated for their invaluable contributions to society. Additionally, efforts to improve financial literacy and provide resources for budget management are seen as essential in empowering educators to navigate their financial challenges more effectively. As the debate over teacher compensation and financial stability continues to gain traction, the plight of educators resorting to seeking sugar daddies serves as a poignant reminder of the urgent need for systemic change to support those who dedicate their lives to shaping the future generation.Contact KOP for professional podcast production, imaging, and web design services at http://www.kingofpodcasts.com and click on Podcast Production Services.Subscribing to KOPs YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@kingofpodcastsFind all past episodes, plus where to subscribe to the show and how to follow KOP on social media at www.kingofpodcasts.com/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/depraved-and-debaucherous--5267208/support.

And I have a little 478 I am enough exercise that I think is very helpful. So the first thing you need to do is take both hands and cross them. And then place them over your heart, in the center of your chest. Then close your eyes. And we're going to breathe, we're going to inhale for a count of 4x, hold for a count of seven, and then exhale down for a count of eight. And we're going to do that three times. While we're doing it, I'm going to be talking with you. And all you have to do is repeat what I'm saying inside your head. Inhale for four. I am enough. Hold for seven. I am enough. And exhale down for eight. I am enough. One more time. Inhale for four. I am enough. Hold for seven. I am enough. And exhale down for eight. And one last time, inhale for four, I am enough. Have you ever wondered whypeople get shorter as they get older? Why do some people lose so much height asthey get older? How to prevent height loss? Let's see what the experts say. Once you become an adult, you typically reach your full height. But your height can change with age, andit's no myth — you shrink with time. People usually lose abouta centimeter in height every 10 years after age 40, according to Medline Plus, and that pace of height loss speeds up after age 70. Overall, you can losebetween 1 to 3 inches in height as you age, per Medline Plus. While age-related heightloss is normal, there are times when it's a sign of an underlying healthcondition. Why do you get shorter as you age? On a macro level, you getshorter as you age due to changes in the bones, muscles and joints. “There area few different things going on here,” Dr. Angela Catic, a geriatrician andassociate professor in the Huffington Center on Aging at Baylor College ofMedicine, tells Yahoo Life. One, she says, is that the discs between thevertebrae in your spine lose fluid as you get older. “They become dehydratedand, with that, they lose height — and you lose a bit of height,” she says. Abdominal muscles alsotend to weaken over time, which can create a stooped posture, causing you toappear shorter, Catic says. In women, menopause can speed up bone loss “due to theloss of the protective effects of estrogen on bones,” Dr. Arashdeep Litt, aninternal medicine physician with Spectrum Health, tells Yahoo Life. That, too,can cause you to get shorter. But height loss can alsobe due to osteoporosis, a bone disease that develops when bone mineral densityand bone mass decreases, or when the quality or structure of bone changes, Littsays. That can decrease your bone strength and increase your risk of fractures, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). How to tell the difference between normal height lossand signs of osteoporosis如何区分正常的身高缩水和骨质疏松症?So, how can you know what'sbehind your shrinking size? Your doctor will suspect osteoporosis if you havean overall height loss of 1.5 inches or more, Litt says. “This much height lossis a sign of osteoporosis and warrants a bone density test,” she says. The test can tell howstrong your bones are and will determine if you have osteoporosis, as well as your risk of fractures in thefuture. How to prevent height loss如何预防身高缩水Again, some height loss isnormal. But Catic says you can lower your risk of height loss by doing thefollowing:年纪大了变矮一些是正常的。 Lift weights (this, alongwith regular exercise, stresses your bones and makes them stronger).举重(举重和定期锻炼都能强健骨骼)Eat a diet rich in calciumand vitamin D to support bone health. Avoid smoking, excessivealcohol use and excessive caffeine intake —all of which are risk factors for osteoporosis. In this episode of the Thoughtful Entrepreneur, your host Josh Elledge speaks with professional speaker and social media strategist, https://www.ashleyannspeaks.com/. (Ashley Ann). Ashley helps clients get paid for the work that they enjoy doing. She works with individuals or companies and has helped over 700 people make six-figure incomes with their social media accounts. Ashley's strategies include building an audience and establishing reach organically as well as finding a balance between human interaction and automation. This is done to maintain a business and set up a system to create longevity. Ashley explains that there are only 1-3 categories of people that will understand a business or individual's message and product. These groups of people need to be focused on creating reach by identifying what they think they need, and what they actually need. Schedules for business owners tend to be quite busy and it can be hard to find the time to make a presence on social media. Ashley advises that everyone use a text community or text list because emails tend to get ignored for promotions. People are more likely to check a text message rather than an email. This connection allows for the reach to grow as an individual can promote more productively with better outcomes from the audience. Hiring an engagement team is a good way to gain media attention on an individual's behalf. It takes time for a team to learn the voice they are trying to portray. Ashley finds it beneficial to have meetings with her engagement team to modify or give points to more accurately imitate her response. Ashley advises to not always use advertisements to sell but to use them to also inform an audience. Segmentation is a way to group individuals into categories based on their needs to give them only the information they desire. Ashley utilizes this to set up a schedule of when to contact each person based on what segment they are in.  Key Points from the Episode: Ashley's impact in the world Ashley's strategies Ashley's advice on establishing reach Finding the time for social media How to balance maintaining reach while not being a nuisance  About Ashley Ann: Ashley Ann also known as King Ashley Ann's is a talented biz builder, public speaker, social media strategist, and award-winning wedding and event designer. "How will divorce affect my kids?" is one of the first questions any parent will ask themselves when deciding to end a marriage. While we don't have a crystal ball to predict the future, we do have endless resources to turn to for guidance, advice, and information related to how divorce affects children. The best resources in my opinion are the grown up children of divorce; the adults who can look back and clearly identify what affected them, how it felt, and how it has shaped them today. On this episode of Moms Moving On, we hear from good friend and talented Author, Entrepreneur, and Instagram personality Tara Clark, of @modernmomprobs. Tara experienced divorce as a child and gives us an open and honest take of how divorce affected her life both as a child and now as a mother. Tara Clark is an author, content creator, mother, and the Founder of Modern Mom Probs. Tara began her career at Nickelodeon, overseeing social media for Nick Jr. and Nick@Nite. Welcome back to The Round 12 MOTIVATIONAL MASTERY Podcast Show! Episode #82 "MAKE ME WANNA HOLLER!"... And Throw Up Both My Hands!! It's been a tough few days...weeks, and months. For many people, working in the midst of a global pandemic has been difficult. For those of us fortunate enough to continue doing our jobs safely at home, we've had to somehow make ourselves look presentable for nonstop digital meetings, and had to learn how to be productive as the lines between our personal and professional lives continue to blur. But, for now… I keep going… And you should too! Whatever race you are… you should too. But just remember that some peoples journey is a lot more difficult than some others. So, let's talk. And while communicating honestly may not always be easy, let's talk anyway. And, doing the right thing may also not be easy... but the rewards can be priceless!
