Hello Rank Squad! It's time for Champions League Takeaway, your midnight feast of Champions League content - after an incredible week in the Champions League that saw Champions crumble, new powers rising, goals galore & some shock results. We start with Wednesday's action, opening with the breathless end to things in Eindhoven - where the USMNT's Malik Tillman and Ricardo Pepi fired up an incredible late comeback that saw their side overcome Shakhtar Donetsk at the death. Then it's on to Anfield, where Liverpool made light work of an out-of-sorts Madrid, lacking Vinicius and a few others. We discuss Mbappe's struggles, how Liverpool maintained perfect control, the midfield 'battle' and Conor Bradley's breakout performance. We also discuss a calamitous own goal from Cameron Carter-Vickers at Celtic Park, rescued by a brilliant Daezen Maeda strike at the other end; the drama at the finale of Aston Villa's 0-0 draw with Juventus; a brilliant game between two excellent sides in Benfica and Monaco; Jamie Gittens' star turn in Dortmund's impressive win over Dinamo Zagreb; a stunning Champions League performance from Lille's Ngal'ayel Mukau; and shock results in the early kickoffs as Sturm Graz beat Girona and Crvena Zvezda hammered Stuttgart in Belgrade. Then in Part Two, we're onto Tuesday's action, which begins witha deep dive into City's unthinkable collapse against Feyenoord which put all the worst fears of City fans into a stark perspective - this is real and it's happening. What next for Pep's men, and could they possibly turn it round in the most unlikely of locations - Anfield? We talk a bit of a strange blockbuster game between Bayern Munich and PSG and where both teams are right now, before heading over to Lisbon to discuss Arsenal's demolition of Sporting, which was one of the best performances we've seen under Mikel Arteta as all the parts finally click into place for the Gunners. Jack installs Inter as his favourites to win the competition following their incredibly mature win over struggling RB Leipzig; we look at a big night for Robert Lewandowski as Barcelona beat Brest 3-0; discuss Atalanta's 6-1 mauling of Young Boys and insist you don't write them off; ponder why Milan keep making things so hard for themselves, even in a 3-2 win in Bratislava; and end with quick discussions on hammerings handed out by both Bayer Leverkusen and Atletico Madrid. It's Ranks! And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?
Join Paul, Callum & Darren for full-time reaction to Celtic 1-1 Club Brugge on matchday 5 in the UEFA Champions League.A tense, tactical encounter saw Brugge go in front after a calamitous own goal from Cameron Carter-Vickers. However, Celtic grew stronger after half-time and an excellent turn and strike from Daizen Maeda brought us back level at 1-1. Jutgla has a second goal ruled out for Brugge after a VAR offside call, but the Hoops couldn't carve out any late goal scoring chances to grab all 3 points. Celtic sit 20th in the Champions League table on 8 points after 5 matches. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

A week can be a long time in football. Rangers had the chance to leapfrog Celtic into top spot with a win in last week's derby at Ibrox, but failure to do so (do "moral victorys" count?) has cost them badly. Further failure in Dingwall by Phillipe Clement's men has now left the Hoops with a four point lead in the title race as a Reo Hatate inspired performance ensured it was the green side of Glasgow who were celebrating after another weekend of high drama in the title race. In addition to the impact of the returning Hatate, team-mates Cameron Carter-Vickers, Alistair Johnstone, Kyogo and others have found form at the best possible time as the Bhoys focus in on a potential league and cup double. Brendan Rodgers too is in buoyant mood, declaring this as the stage of the season when "Celtic come alive!" And it couldn't come at a better time! After a stop/start season Reo Hatate returned against Livingston at the weekend and the classy midfielder is now eyeing a bigger prize after playing his part in the 3-0 win. He was supported on the day by stand-in skipper Cameron Carter-Vickers - a man who's had his own injury issues - and both will be vital at Ibrox at the weekend as the Hoops look to stretch their lead at the top of the table. All indications are that they'll be joined on their trip to the south side by Callum McGregor in what would be a massive triple boost for the Bhoys. We'll be focusing on that one in more detail in Friday's pre-match show and in the meantime we take a look at some of the key moments at the Tony Macaroni as well as at Celtic's stand-out performers across the campaign so far. Celtic are back to league duty on Saturday and with it comes the chance to go top of the table if they can take all three points against St Johnstone. The Perth side have already taken a draw at Celtic Park this season and Brendan Rodgers will be out to ensure no repeat of that this time around. With Callum McGregor and Yang still out it remains to be seen of Cameron Carter-Vickers will be restored to the heart of the defence but one player who'll almost certainly start is last week's hat-trick hero, Daizen Maeda., More of the same from the Japanese star will do nicely! Daizen Maeda continues to puzzle and delight in equal measure with the Japanese frontman grabbing his first hat-trick in the Hoops during Sunday's Scottish Cup victory over Livingston. He was the man of the moment as Celtic took their place in the semi finals (eventually) where they'll now face Aberdeen at Hampden Park. For Brendan Rodgers his perfect Scottish Cup record continues, having now won all 15 games he's managed in the competition. Despite the win there was a notable absence in the heart of the Celtic side as both Callum McGregor and Cameron Carter-Vickers missed out through injury. Whilst other have stepped up on occasion it's clear just how important those two are in terms of the mindset and leadership they bring to proceedings. Let's hope they – along with Yang and Reo Hatate – are back in action sooner rather than later. Join Tino, James & Joe on this very latest episode of The Celtic Exchange Weekly. Celtic have beaten Dundee 3-0 both home and away this season and most of us of a green and white persuasion would take more of the same on Wednesday night. The players themselves will have been boosted by Sunday's fightback at Fir Park and should be raring to go at Celtic Park. The manager has some big calls to make with Adam Idah, Yang, Luis Palma and Cameron Carter-Vickers all coming off the bench to play their part at the weekend. Regardless the line-up however the three points are the ultimate priority as the Bhoys keep up the pressure at the top of the table. Join Tino & Joe for the latest Countdown To Kick Off Show as Celtic take on Dundee in Matchday 28 of this season's Scottish Premiership =========================================== All Celtic Exchange episodes are now available on YouTube
Last time Celtic were at Fir Park it took a whole lot of character as well as a touch of class by Matt O'Riley to ensure the Hoops headed home with all 3 points. This time around those traits will be needed more than ever as the Bhoys look to get back on track after the disappointment of last week's draw with Kilmarnock. Brendan Rodgers will be boosted by the return of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Alistair Johnston and both players may well be thrown straight back in to the starting XI. With 12 games of the league campaign remaining there's very little margin for error and the challenge is now there for Callum McGregor and his team-mates they have what it takes to reclaim the title. It's been a mixed season so far as Brendan Rodgers adjusts to life back in the Celtic hot-seat. However, there's no better time for the manager and his players to step up to the big occasion than in Saturday's crucial clash with Rangers. They'll play out the final game of the calendar year in front of a full house at Celtic Park who'll be roaring the Bhoys on in their aim to extend their league lead to 8 points. Availability doubts remain over the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Reo Hatate and Liel Abada but whatever line-up Rodgers' goes with he'll have the team fully prepped for the all-important clash. In 14 fixtures against Rangers he's lost just once and will be looking to strengthen that record further following Saturday's lunchtime kick-off. The stage was set for it to be a night of absences at Celtic Park with no Cameron Carter-Vickers, no Reo Hatate and no Green Brigade after their latest ban. And whilst Brendan Rodgers side were far from their free flowing best on the night they done what was required to take the three points against a well drilled St Mirren side. Oh was the hero on the night as the South Korean striker stepped up to smash home his first goal of the season after great work from Kyogo and Odin Thiago Holm. Brendan Rodgers hadn't lost a single match in domestic cup competition as Celtic manager before this afternoon's clash with Kilmarnock. He has now. And he and his side can have no complaints. Injuries to key players Alistair Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Reo Hatate can explain part of the problem but that aside Celtic lacked a spark and a desire and barely troubled the Kilmarnock goal all afternoon. We knew we'd face a robust challenge and on the day the players failed to meet that challenge. The work Celtic now do in the remaining days of the transfer window could define our season. It's unusual to come away from Pittodrie with a 3-1 win, with three points in the bag, and with our 100% start to the league campaign intact – and STILL find plenty room for improvement! But that's where we find ourselves this week. That said it's not hypercritical to suggest that Celtic can and will improve under Brendan Rodgers despite the win in the North East, as they get up to speed with the returning manager's methods. A minor knock to Cameron Carter-Vickers highlighted our lack of defensive re-enforcements and though Stephen Welsh performed admirably in his absence it would seem there's still work to be done there ahead of another crack at the Champions League. With a little over two weeks left of the transfer window we also discuss if know is the very time to panic, or if we can hold off on our panicking until at least next week! Hot on the heels of confirming South Koreans Yang Hyun-Jun & Kwon Hyeok-Kyu Celtic have added Polish defender Maik Nawrocki to the mix as our summer signing spree gathers pace. The 22 year old centre half becomes our fifth addition of the window and will likely go straight into a side still feeling the absence of Cameron Carter-Vickers in defence. Since his £4.3M arrival from Rubin Kazan, Carl Starfelt has been a rock at the heart of the Celtic defence. His stats speak for themselves, and incredibly Celtic have NEVER lost a Scottish Premiership game when he's he and Cameron Carter-Vickers have started together. Of the 64 domestic games he's played here in Scotland, the Swede has been on the losing side just twice over 90 minutes. However - January signing Yuki Kobayashi is now breathing down his neck, and with an injury hit Starfelt making way for his Japanese team-mate at half-time in Saturday's win over Hearts, is the door now open for Kobayashi to stake his claim for a run in the team? Ange stated post-match that Kobayashi will be a “strong contributor” between now and the end of the season – but will that come at the expense of the ever present Starfelt? Jason and Jared catch up after Gregg Berhalter announced his 26 man roster for the September camp... and then updated it even further due to injuries. The biggest surprise was at striker with Ricardo Pepi getting the call and Jordan Pefok being left at the top of the table in Germany. The guys debate why Gregg made this decision and if there is still a path for Pefok to go to Qatar. Plus, with Cameron Carter-Vickers and Chris Richards dropping out of camp with injuries - Mark McKenzie and Erik Palmer-Brown get the call up. The guys debate why they got the call over an in-form Tim Ream. Finally, Jared introduces a new game to the crew "Cap or Crap" to close out the show. Thanks to everyone who called in! The Celtic View Podcast returns for a new series for the new season, as each week we delve into all the talking points from the weekend's action across the first team, B team and women's team. In Episode 6, Celtic View reporter Ryan Maher brings the pod to you from Warsaw, where Celtic will play their second Champions League group stage match away to Shakhtar Donetsk. Before flying out to the Polish capital city, he sat down with Cameron Carter-Vickers to preview the big European match and also find out how life is as a Celtic player, just over a year on from his debut. The USA international then takes on the 60 second quiz as he tries to beat the top score of seven. There's also insight into opposition for the Champions League match, as Ukrainian footballer journalist, Andrew Todos, goes in-depth about Shakhtar Donetsk and highlights the key men the side.
Jason and Jared are back on a Sunday night to discuss the upcoming September International break. The guys predict their 26 man rosters for the break (not the World Cup!!) and which of the fringe players deserve a look this window. Sure, the Pulisic's and Aaronson's have secured their ticket to the World Cup but this is really the last chance for the likes of Haji Wright, Cameron Carter Vickers, James Sands, Mark McKenzie and Brandon Vazquez, etc to make their case for the Qatar squad. Who do you have filling out the last 15% of the roster? Ange Postecoglou's side exerted their total dominance on Saturday with a crushing 4-0 win over Rangers that left Giovanni Van Bronckhort's side wondering what had hit them at a packed Celtic Park. Van Bronckhorst of course played in the original “Demolition Derby” some twenty two years ago as Henrik Larsson and co. inflicted a 6-2 defeat on Rangers back in August 2000. We now have a new Demolition Derby to add to the collection as this exciting Celtic side won by their own four goal margin in a game which highlighted the very best of what Ange Postecoglou's team have to offer. Liel Abada picked up the Man of the Match award on the day, and rightly so for his two goal return and excellent all round performance, however it was his Portuguese team mate Jota who raised things to a different level with an outstanding second goal for Celtic – a goal which will be remembered by fans far and wide for many years to come. The timing of the sparkling performance couldn't have been better with Celtic heading into matchday 1 of this season's Champions League this week full of confidence as they await the challenge that current holders Real Madrid will present. It's set to be an electric night at Celtic Park on Tuesday and players and fans alike can't wait to see Ange's side test themselves on a whole new level as we come up against Karim Benzema and co. in European football's top competition. Elsewhere we seen the close of a summer transfer window which has seen Celtic achieve just about everything they set out to do. Returning heroes Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers are now here on a permanent basis, some big earners have been removed from the wage bill, and we now have genuine cover in all key areas of the park. A deadline day move for Danish internationalist Oliver Abildgaard completed our work in the market for now and we take a look at what our new number 28 may add to the midfield. Tino, Paddy & James discuss all of the above and more in this week's episode of The Celtic Exchange Weekly. You can now enjoy even more unique Celtic content from us at The Celtic Exchange Plus – our podcast subscription service. LIKE returning heroes Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers, we too at The Celtic Exchange are back for a whole new season where we'll bring you the very best of all things Celtic – on and off the park. Ange Postecoglou continues to build on last season's double success and its an exciting time as the fans anticipate what Ange's Celtic v2.0 will look like. As always at this time of year the main focus is on what other players will be signing up to be part of the Ange Revolution, as he fine tunes his squad to defend the league title and to take their place amongst Europe's elite in the UEFA Champions League. Alexandro Bernebei and Benjamin Siegrist have joined Jota and Carter-Vickers in committing to the club, with Ange stating that he wants a couple of more additions ahead of the new season. Speculation and rumours will rage on about who that will be and we'll look to bring you any news once confirmed. Meantime some other players have now moved on – either on a permanent basis or on loan deals – with the likes of Karamoke Dembele, Vasilis Barkas and Ismaila Soro deciding to ply their trade elsewhere, at least for the season ahead. The pre-season friendlies are already underway with some fringe players getting their chances, but expect the big hitters to return over the next few games as the squad prepare for that all important league opener against Aberdeen at Celtic Park on Sunday 31st July. Tino, Mif & James were on the mics this week, covering all of the above and more in the latest episode of The Celtic Exchange Weekly. Help support The Celtic Exchange by sharing this episode far and wide with your fellow Celtic supporters - it really makes a big difference to what we do. Thanks, Team TCE.
Welcome back to another Episode of the Plastics Podcast. The crew discuss some exciting transfers to various Premier League and Not-so Premier League teams including Cameron Carter Vickers, William Saliba and Darwin Nunez. Also covered on this week's episode is the USA V. El Salvador match in what can only be described as a chutes and ladders muddy cage match.

CELTIC took a massive step closer to reclaiming the Scottish Premiership title with a battling 2-1 win over Rangers at Ibrox. Goals from Cameron Carter-Vickers and Tom Rogic sealed the win and though manager Ange Postecoglou won't say it out loud he and his players are edging ever closer to league success in his first season in charge. Tino, Mif & James were in the studio to discuss all the big talking points from a frenzied Glasgow Derby and what the result now means for Celtic's title dream. In addition we look ahead to the weekend's fixture with St Johnstone at Celtic Park on Saturday which could see Celtic take an incredible 9 point lead in the table, with Rangers not scheduled to face St Mirren until Sunday. Just 6 league games now remain as Ange and his players look to achieve what would have been unthinkable at the start of the season! If you're enjoying The Celtic Exchange please support us by sharing this episode far and wide with your fellow Celtic supporters - it really makes a big difference to what we do. Thanks, Team TCE.
Celtic got back to winning ways against St Mirren after a disappointing week last week with goals coming from Cameron Carter-Vickers and Callum McGregor in a 2-0 win. The result keeps the Hoops 3 points and 10 goals clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership with just 9 games remaining. Tino, Mif & James are on the mics for this one to cover all the key talking points.
A huge 3 points for Celtic at Tynecastle as the Hoops run out 2-1 winners against Hearts in a frantic game under the floodlights! An incredible strike by Reo Hatate opened the scoring before a clever second by Gorgios Giakoumakis shortly after saw us take a deserved 2-0 lead into the break. The second half was less comfortable and a Liam Boyce strike just after the hour mark saw us face a spell of pressure for the first time in the game. Boyce then had a chace to steal a point for Hearts with a 73rd minute penalty but the woodwork came to our rescue before we eventually seen out the result. Debutant Matt O'Riley showed his class at times, particularly in the first half, and was awarded Man Of The Match for his troubles. Team mates Reo Hatate and Jota can't have been far away for some of the creativity and flair they also brought to the game but credit too must go to the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Nir Bitton and Giorgios Giakoumakis who all played their part in getting us over the line. The victory could turn out to be a crucial one in the title race and all eyes now turn to Dundee Utd at Celtic Park on Saturday where the next challenge awaits.
DAIZEN Maeda stole the headlines with a quickfire debut goal against Hibs but it was his countryman Reo Hatate who was the undoubted star of the show with a Man of the Match performance in the heart of Celtic's midfield. The Japanese star showed us exactly why Ange Postecoglou was so keen to secure his signature and already looks like he'll slot seamlessly into the starting XI. A full Celtic Park welcomed the team back after the winter break and the Bhoys didn't disappoint with an impressive performance against Shaun Maloney's side. Yosuke Ideguchi joined Maeda and Hatate in making his debut, but Carl Starfelt, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor also showed their quality on the night. With our Glasgow rivals dropping points at Pittodrie we're now within 4 points of the top of the table with some huge matches in store ahead of the derby on 2ndof February. The January transfer window remains oipen for another couple of weeks but with no activity in or out in over a week Ange has indicated our signings may be done. We'll monitor that space closely for any changes. Tino, James & Sinky were on the mics to discuss all of the above and more. ANGE Postecoglou has become so influential in Scottish Football that his January transfer window begins in December! Celtic fans were given the perfect New Year's gift with confirmation arriving on the morning of 31st December that we had secured the triple signing of of J-League stars Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi. In this first episode of 2022 we profile the trio as they touch down in Glasgow to play their part in the second half of the season. It's an exciting move by the club and the hope will be that the new Bhoys can make a similar impact to their countryman Kyogo Furuhashi who has very quickly become the talisman of this Celtic side. We expect to see quite a bit more activity across the remainder of the window in terms of incomings and exits, in addition to the potential permanent signings of Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers which must now be a priority. In a move that no one seen coming Celtic announced on Friday that CEO Dominic McKay would be stepping down from his position due to "personal reasons" after just 72 days in the role. In light of the announcement the club's current Director of Legal & Football Affairs, Michael Nicholson has been appointed to the Board of Celtic plc as acting CEO. The real reasons for the sudden departure remain a mystery with many suggesting that McKay wasn't given the autonomy to carry out his role effectively, whilst others suggest he didn't have the required skillset in the first place. What seems clear is that there's much more to run on this story and like everyone with a Celtic persuasion we'll be keeping a close eye on developments. On the park Ange Postecoglou's men got back to winning ways with a 3-0 win over Ross County thanks to a goal and a Man of the Match contribution from Cameron Carter-Vickers and a double from forgotten striker Albian Ajeti. The focus now turns to Europa League action with our Group G opener against Real Betis in Seville on Thursday. Celtic get back to winning ways with a comprehensive victory over Ross County at Celtic Park. The match saw Celtic debuts for Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota with the former opening the scoring (kinda) with a deflected effort. Forgotten frontman Albia Ajeti picked up a double to seal the game which will do his confidence the world of good as we know look to Thursday's Europa League game with Real Betis.

Kev, James and Tony return for a bumper penultimate regular podcast of the season. The boys get together remotely to discuss football since the restart, the Championship relegation battle as a whole, the administration situation at Wigan Athletic and what the football authorities need to do to ensure this does not happen again. On the pitch, there are in-depth player focuses on Cameron Carter-Vickers, Elliot Lee and James Bree who have all impressed since the restart. The boys then go back in time to relive some of the glorious last-gasp survivals the Town have enjoyed in the past before looking at the two huge matches to come against Hull City and Blackburn Rovers. The podcast finishes with a traditional end at this time of year as the lads each pick out their player of the season.
I was a lone rooster this evening so I decided to do something different. I went and grabbed sound bites from the coaches and players of some of the tastier matches over the festive period and added some "commentary" after them. I hope you enjoy it. You'll hear Jose', Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney, Nigel Pearson, Danny Ings, and more on this episode. For the USMNT fans out there, it ends with a story about Cameron Carter Vickers and another from Tyler Adams off of the US Soccer YouTube channel. Not a typical episode. Hope you enjoy eit.
We’re back! In the latest episode of Infinite Football, Ryan O’Hanlon is joined by Noah Davis to try to find the positives in another disappointing year for the United States Men’s National Team. We're back underway on a new adventure, and Fulham were welcomed back to the Championship in true Championship style—being beaten by a newly promoted side who were huge underdogs, with a timely reminder that anyone can beat anyone else in this truly remarkable division. What wasn't truly remarkable was Fulham's performance at Oakwell, which lacked any sort of cohesion, spark, flair or tactical nous whatsoever, and the Whites are going to need to find all of the above very quickly if this season is to go to plan.On the bright side, the transfer window is not yet closed, and reinforcements, we imagine, are on their way to the Cottage. We discuss the potential additions of Harry Arter, Josh Onomah, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Mo Besic, with plenty more to chew on as well, before answering a whole host of questions about the weekend and beyond.
