Man this week is a powerful episode. Arthur talks dating, mental health, and art and we share our reasons for supporting the families of Renee Good and Alex Pretti and why we support #AbolishIce and #FreeMinnesota. Then we dig into the story of teenager Grace Darling and how she, with a little help from her father, rowed out in a tiny rowboat (specifically a coble) to help 8 people who had survived a shipwreck in the Farne Islands! She was made into a hero by the London press but she never saw the point, after all she had only done what she did to help people who needed helping. And once again, our episode ties into the modern day as Alex Pretti lost his life just trying to help someone, a risk that Grace ran as well. Episode 198 of the Todos Toman Podcast is all about unwritten rules, the ones everyone follows... until someone doesn'tMiguel, Tank, and Romero talk through the social rules we all magically learned growing up:– Elevator silence– The last slice nobody wants– Don't hit “reply all”– Showing up empty-handed– Taking your shoes off (or not)– Roasting your friends but defending them in publicJohnny Boy is out this episode, but we're sending a birthday shoutout to Tina. The crew debates which unwritten rules should be canceled, which should actually be written down, and what happens when someone completely ignores the rule and ruins the vibe.Press play and see how many of these rules you've broken

What's the most realistic way a “dirty cop” plan would hold up in court, and why do TV writers get away with it?A movie recap turns into a long detour through The Walking Dead, Grey's Anatomy, and what it means to be permanently tied to one iconic role. From there it slides into Jennifer Lopez nostalgia, arguing over which of her movies were actually good, and realizing her singing voice is more distinctive than you remembered. Then the trip stories kick in. A birthday weekend, a Kroger Starbucks, and an all-time awkward public interaction that starts with, “Do you girls like elevators?” and somehow gets worse. The fight we were having before it happened, the immediate emotional whiplash after, and why we couldn't look away. Medieval Times gets reviewed like a consumer report. The horses and hawk are cool, the tournament runs long, and the sugar crash is real. Waffle House is loud enough to qualify as an assault, with plate slams, silverware buckets, and a screaming family turning breakfast into sensory warfare. There's also a return to the “K-pop boyfriend” conversation, what people mean when they say it, and why it can feel weird. That leads into a surprisingly earnest sidebar on poly relationships, “my wife's boyfriend” dynamics, and what that kind of arrangement does to people over time.Plus: caterpillars, butterflies, pollination, bad Italian food, a chaotic bill, and the kind of small annoyances that become the whole story.
In this essential conversation, Shruti Trivedi shares the raw reality of returning to work after losing her twin boys—and how she went from literally running away from a pregnant colleague in the elevator to openly sharing her story across social media platforms worldwide. Shruti describes those first devastating days back at work: seeing her friend who was eight months pregnant (they'd shared their pregnancy news together), people assuming she'd been on maternity leave and asking "How are the twins?", and breaking down in her cubicle while trying to keep herself "busy enough" not to feel. She didn't know how to set boundaries. She didn't know she could say "I'm not ready to talk about this." This episode tackles two critical topics that bereaved mothers face: workplace reentry and sharing your story on social media—both spaces where you're suddenly vulnerable to other people's reactions, questions, and sometimes cruelty. On Workplace Boundaries: Why "just staying busy" doesn't actually help you heal The simple sentence that protects your energy: "Can we talk about this later?" Why saying no at work translates to saying no to invasive questions What workplaces SHOULD offer (but often don't): mental health support, trained advocates, grief resources The beautiful reunion with the pregnant colleague she'd avoided—and why you don't need to apologize for protecting yourself On Social Media Vulnerability: How sharing your story can be cathartic and empowering—but also comes with trolls and triggers Managing the emotional weight of strangers' stories flooding your DMs The importance of writing content down first and checking how it makes you feel before posting Why you should screenshot positive comments for when you question yourself Setting boundaries: you don't have to respond immediately, you can delete posts, you can block negativity Choosing what platform feels right (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Substack) The power of reaching people across the world who need to hear "you're not alone" Shruti's journey from workplace isolation to global connection is a masterclass in finding your voice after loss—while still protecting your peace. Key Takeaways: ✨ You never have to apologize for protecting your energy ✨ "Can we not talk about this right now?" is a complete sentence ✨ Workplaces need trained advocates and visible mental health resources ✨ Sharing on social media is a choice—not an obligation ✨ Focus on positive comments; don't feed energy to negativity ✨ Take time responding to DMs—absorbing others' trauma takes a toll ✨ Delete, block, and protect your space without guilt ✨ You're allowed to care deeply AND protect yourself Connect with Shruti: Shruti works with working mothers and professionals to release guilt, prioritize self-care, and embrace mental wellbeing with compassion and courage. In this episode of The Ran-Dumb Show, Alex (Lex Caliber / Alexander W. They also get into the unspoken rules of elevators, why holding the elevator can actually be selfish, and how trying to be polite can quickly turn uncomfortable—or just plain annoying. It's petty. Krakow . Welcome back to the Dr. Mary Travelbest Guide podcast. A few weeks ago, I returned from a 90-day journey around the world, and I'm excited to connect with fellow travelers and share experiences. Today, we will discuss Krakow, Poland, and when to admit you are not ready for a trip. We will discuss passports and then my travel mistakes. Get ready now, as we are starting. The FAQ is: Marcia, who recently returned from a solo trip to Antarctica, asked: "At what point does a destination become a bad match for my solo senior travel — and how do I admit that early?" Answer: I emphasize empowerment. I permit you to change course, leave early, or say "this isn't for me" without framing it as failure. A destination isn't "wrong" because it challenges you — but it is wrong if it consistently drains your energy, confidence, or sense of safety. If you find yourself constantly anxious, overly fatigued, or forcing yourself to "push through," just listen to your mind or body. Changing plans, leaving early, or choosing a different destination next time is not failure — it's wisdom. The goal of solo travel isn't endurance; it's fulfillment. And knowing when to pivot is one of the strongest travel skills you can develop. In Amsterdam, I had to change my destination frequently, which was challenging, but I managed to do so. One day, when I had some flexibility in my schedule, I scheduled a massage. I searched for "massage near me" and was delighted with the results. Sometimes that's all it takes for a new perspective. 60-second confidence challenge Your challenge today is to check your passport. That's right, take it out and open it up. Do you have at least six months left on your passport? If not, you need to renew it. If you like today's Confidence Challenge, my book series delves deeper into passport documents and solo travel for women. You can find the series at the link in the description. See Book A for addressing this concern.. Find it on the website at https://www.5stepstosolotravel.com/ or on Amazon. It's a multiple-part series. Today's special destination is Krakow, Poland First, I'll talk about the things to see as a tourist, and then I'll share some 'off the regular' tourist ideas for you. It's interesting to learn that Poland is roughly the size of Texas. Historical tensions persist among Polish communities in neighboring Kazakhstan, Russia, and Germany. I've also heard about soldiers being sent from Siberia to Ukraine. The country underwent a significant change in 1989 when the Solidarity movement overthrew the socialist government. I reflected on the historical gravity of Auschwitz, where many lives were lost. Kraków, Poland, is one of Europe's most enchanting cities, renowned for its history, charm, and culture. Kraków offers a welcoming mix of walkable streets, accessible attractions, and heartfelt hospitality. Let's Explore the Old Town and Wawel Hill https://krakow.travel/en/55-krakow-main-market-square Start your morning in Rynek Główny, the Main Market Square — one of the largest medieval squares in Europe. It's mostly flat with smooth pathways, though some cobblestones can be tricky; use a slower pace or roll along the outer edges, which are more level, for those with mobility issues. In the center stands the Cloth Hall, filled with stalls selling amber jewelry, handmade crafts, and souvenirs. Elevators are available to reach the upper gallery, which houses the 19th-century Polish Art Museum. Nearby, the St. Mary's Basilica is famous for its hourly trumpet call from the tower. Inside, ramps and wide aisles make it accessible for most visitors. https://mariacki.com/en/ https://visitkrakow.com/kazimierz/ https://visitkrakow.com/guide-to-oskar-schindlers-enamel-factory-museum/ https://www.catholicapostolatecenter.org/blog/st-faustina-and-the-catholic-heritage-of-poland? Coming home was supposed to be the safe part. For the 1st Battalion 17th Infantry, it did not work out that way. They lost 22 soldiers during their 2009 to 2010 Afghanistan deployment, then as many more after returning home. At one funeral, a soldier finally said what many were thinking: "When is someone going to do something about this?" That question pushed former platoon leader Adam Swift to start searching for an answer in the middle of the night, which led him to The Independence Fund and its unit retreat program, Operation Resilience. Scott sits down with Adam and Independence Fund Deputy Chief of Operations Steven Rozina to hear how Operation Resilience brings entire units back together for a long weekend. Flights are covered, the veteran pays nothing, and the schedule blends fun sober events like NASCAR and hockey with long, guided clinical sessions. Units literally map out their deployment, from pre-mob through the worst days downrange and into life back home, finally talking through firefights, IED blasts, and moral injuries they have carried alone for years. Adam shares what it was like to watch brothers he had not seen in 15 years walk out of the hotel elevators, and how The Independence Fund quietly recreated the teepee memorial from their FOB so the unit could honor their fallen around a final-night bonfire. You will also hear exactly how to get your own unit considered for Operation Resilience and why you do not need to be in command to step up and start the process. "Automate or Fall Behind" sounds dramatic, but it points to a quieter question leaders are facing in 2026: are our systems designed for how we want to lead? In this episode of Reflect Forward, I sit down with Nadav Wilf, founder and CEO of Align Coach, to explore how AI and automation can either amplify leadership clarity or reveal where teams still rely on outdated structures. This is not a conversation about chasing the latest tools. It is about building a strategic AI vision, addressing resistance to change, and creating the training cadence required for new ways of working to actually stick. Most leaders are already experimenting with AI in some form. They have a ChatGPT subscription. They use AI to draft emails or summarize notes. Nadav draws a critical distinction between manual AI and automated AI. Manual AI creates speed in isolated moments. Automated AI creates leverage across the organization. Without that shift, companies remain stuck in fragmented experimentation rather than building scalable systems. A central theme of this conversation is that AI adoption fails more often due to leadership behavior than to technical complexity. Leaders underestimate the importance of vision, overestimate how quickly habits change, and stop training too soon. Nadav breaks down why consistency is the determining factor. When training stops, people revert to old workflows, and leaders walk away with false proof that AI does not work. I grounded the conversation with a real-world example from StoneAge. Instead of purchasing expensive accounts payable automation software, we built a custom GPT layered on top of our existing ERP system. In a matter of weeks, we automated manual work, accelerated internal learning, improved job satisfaction, and avoided a six-figure software spend. The win was not just technical. It was cultural. The team experienced firsthand how AI could remove low-value work and free them to focus on higher-impact responsibilities. The episode also explores the human dynamics that quietly shape change efforts. Nadav introduces the concept of elevators, resistors, and supporters. Elevators lean in and move change forward. Supporters follow the dominant energy. Resistors, often unintentionally, can stall progress by clinging to familiar systems. Leaders who fail to name these dynamics allow resistance to run the strategy by default. Throughout the conversation, one message becomes clear. You do not need to understand every detail of AI to lead effectively in this era. You need to take responsibility for the direction, cadence, and mindset your organization brings to it. AI is not a side project. It is an operating decision. Automate or Fall Behind is an invitation to reflect on what you have been carrying that technology can now handle, and to move forward with intention rather than urgency. Leaders who do this well will not just be more efficient. They will create calmer teams, better work, and organizations designed for how people actually want to lead and contribute in 2026. Katie reveals her proven recipe for creating marketing messaging that captures attention and inspires action. Together, they explore the critical ingredients every business leader needs to craft an elevator pitch that opens doors, builds connections, and creates opportunities. This episode is essential listening for entrepreneurs, executives, and anyone seeking clarity in their professional messaging and leadership presence. The Elevator Pitch Recipe: Crafting Marketing Messaging That Stops the ScrollAbout Katie LantukhKatie Lantukh is the founder of Murphy Marketing, where she and her team of messaging specialists help businesses create marketing messaging that stops the scroll and starts conversations. Katie specializes in helping entrepreneurs and business leaders gain clarity on what to say and where to say it—from foundational brand messaging to strategic placement across websites, landing pages, email, blogs, and LinkedIn.Fun Fact: Katie's favorite food is Mexican food, especially tacos—her household celebrates Taco Tuesday and Margarita Monday! The Fire Brigade FrameworkKatie introduces her powerful metaphor: your elevator pitch should be like a bucket of water being passed down a fire brigade line—easy for people to hold onto and pass along to others. Your message must be simple enough to remember, clear enough to repeat, and compelling enough to share. The 7 Essential IngredientsWhat You Do - Start with clarity, not your job titleThe Outcome - Focus on the transformation people experienceWho You Serve - Define your ideal client clearly; set boundariesThe Problem - Lead with the challenge your audience facesTiming & Flexibility - Develop 10-second, 30-second, 2-minute, and 5-minute versionsWhy You & Why Now - Showcase expertise and create urgencySimplicity - Less is always more; make your audience feel smart, not lostKey InsightsThe Two Signs Your Pitch Works:They ask a follow-up question: "How does that work?"They immediately make connections: "Oh, do you know...?"Avoid the Laundry List Trap: Don't try to explain everything you do. She intentionally stepped up to a camera crew and "took the mic"—resulting in her appearing on the event's signup page alongside The Rock and Robert Kiyosaki as the only woman featured. How To Build an Elevator Pitch Hello, this is Hall T. Martin with the Startup Funding Espresso -- your daily shot of startup funding and investing. The elevator pitch is the short form of your startup pitch. It introduces the deal to an investor and gives the key highlights. The goal is not to tell them everything but rather to intrigue them to learn more about it. Here's how to build an elevator pitch: State in five words or fewer what the startup does. Show two examples of the impact of the startup using numbers. This could be exploding revenue, such as "We're seeing 50% month over month growth." It could have an impact on the community, such as "We help feed 5000 children a week." State the goal of the startup, such as "We're looking to reach a break-even in 4 months." Choose three words that best describe your startup and work them into the pitch. Choose three phrases that best describe your startup and build them into the pitch. The keywords will help the audience understand the context. The catch phrases will help the audience understand what the startup does. Consider these steps in building your elevator pitch. Thank you for joining us for the Startup Funding Espresso where we help startups and investors connect for funding. Let's go startup something today. _______________________________________________________ For more episodes from Investor Connect, please visit the site at: http://investorconnect.org Check out our other podcasts here: https://investorconnect.org/ For Investors check out: https://tencapital.group/investor-landing/ For Startups check out: https://tencapital.group/company-landing/ For eGuides check out: https://tencapital.group/education/ For upcoming Events, check out https://tencapital.group/events/ For Feedback please contact info@tencapital.group Please follow, share, and leave a review. As you prepare your new year's resolutions, take a moment to ask, "What's your elevator pitch?" This holiday week, we're sharing a classic episode featuring an inspirational and thought-provoking scenario that you can bring into your personal and professional life. A claims adjuster is out at a party when they are asked: "So, what do you do for a living?" Our adjuster responds with just: "I'm in insurance claims." That's an "Oh no" moment. Turns out their cousin had a terrible experience on a claim and our adjuster is going to hear all about it, ending in: "You claims people are all cheaters!" Notable Timestamps [ 00:36 ] - Today's scenario begins as an interpersonal encounter about explaining your career in insurance, but the elevator pitch is applicable even on claims. [ 02:05 ] - What our claims professional needed was an elevator pitch: a succinct, prepared, organized response. Whether at a party or at a claims site, our adjuster wants to know how to summarize their thoughts in a persuasive way. Ding Ding! Your elevator's here! Are you ready? [ 02:30 ] - Mike was asked: "what's your elevator pitch?" That was an "oh no" moment... [ 03:35 ] - An elevator pitch is a simple presentation that you give in the time it would take to ride an elevator: around 30 seconds. [ 04:18 ] - 1. Grab 'em at the beginning. Get their attention with a great opening. [ 04:25 ] - 2. Tell 'em what you're gonna tell 'em. Be organized in your thought process. [ 04:32 ] - 3. Hit 'em with your bid conclusion/sell/ask. Be brief and practiced. [ 05:11 ] - Alissha: "So, what do you do for a living?" Mike: 1. "I allow you to take the risks to make life worth living." 2. "Without insurance, you wouldn't be able to insure your home or car." 3. "We step in when bad things happen and we hope to get people back on their feet." [ 09:15 ] - Be prepared, be organized, be succinct. [ 10:00 ] - Let's say an insured has suffered a casualty loss. How can an elevator pitch help? 1. "I'm so sorry that this happened." Take a moment to express sincere empathy. 2. Review the medical records / facts. 3. "I know that this has impacted your life, so how about we take care of your damages?" [ 11:50 ] - What's the pitch for a hurricane loss? Again, start off with an emotional connection. Second, spell out the steps to get them back into the place they were before the accident. Third, conclude with the ask and what you need for the next steps. [ 13:35 ] - Mike applies the elevator pitch to auto claims handling. [ 15:42 ] - Mike provides a recap of the scenario and the points above. Send us a textThe best leadership lesson we learned this year wasn't about getting it right—it was about knowing when to pause, own the mess, and rebuild with care. On the next episode of Take the Elevator, Gen and Kory sit down with Tamara and Danya—early childhood educators, professors, and the duo behind Talk Early To Me and TD Growth Unboxed—to close the year with an honest conversation about rest, resilience, and continuing when the plan falls apart. From 2 a.m. creativity vs. shower breakthroughs to imposter syndrome in classrooms, meetings, and living rooms, the laughs quickly give way to real talk. You'll hear how stopping mid-course can become a master lesson, why “keep going” sometimes means baby steps back to joy, and how confidence can be something you quietly wear into any room. They also share what they unboxed this year—launching a podcast, formalizing the business, aligning a shared vision—and name what's next: a first book, deeper belonging, and finishing their PhDs. Saying it out loud matters. You'll walk away with practical tools for families before preschool—turning everyday moments into learning labs that build confidence, self-regulation, and executive function—plus an open invite for educators and teams ready to elevate with humor, presence, and purpose. If this conversation sparks something, subscribe, share, and leave a review with your next baby step.Look up—and let's elevate. To contact Tamara and Danya: IG: @tamara_danya_ecehttps://talkearlytome.buzzsprout.com/Support the showhttps://www.thegenko.com

Send us a textReady to scale beyond flips and small rentals into commercial real estate without stepping on landmines? We sit down with investor and educator Becky Lambert to unpack the blueprint: how to pick the right markets, structure safer debt, and build durable cash flow with tenants who actually stay. Becky has 16 years in commercial under her belt and breaks down the core framework with clarity—what NOI really tells you, how DSCR protects your downside, and why a 1% shift in cap rate can swing a valuation by millions. We dig into the hidden systems that make or break deals: boilers, elevators, roofs, and power capacity. If you've ever inherited an old building and found out the hard way what “inspection missed” means, you'll appreciate the playbook for due diligence that buys leverage at the negotiating table. Becky shares how to curate tenant mixes that pull traffic—think surgeons, PT, pharmacies, and synergistic retail near hospitals—and why staggering lease expirations matters more than squeezing the last dollar on day one. We also explore counter-cyclical assets like storage, the trade-offs in specialized warehouses, and how ground leases and cell towers can add surprising income streams. For those itching to jump in, Becky explains why joining a syndication is a smart first step to learn IRR, equity multiple, and lender relationships from inside the deal. From selecting a market with real growth drivers to designing leases with escalations and creditworthy tenants, this episode gives you a clear path to move up the ladder without gambling your portfolio. If the numbers tell the truth, learn to listen—and let your strategy match what the market actually wants.Enjoyed the conversation? In this episode, Kelly is joined by Hillary Wallace! She is the principal designer at her own firm: Simon-Wallace Design. And she pulls out all of the stops decorating her New York City home for the holidays. Kelly starts the episode off by talking about the only way two true New Yorkers could meet: Yelling at each other from a window! Hillary talks about where she was from and how from when she was young; she alwasy wanted to move to New York. She talks about growing up in LA in the 80's, moving to colorado, designing her own furniture as a side job and how that inspired her to go back to school for design. Kelly then asks Hillary about her house, and Hillary tells the very roundabout story of how she and her husband came to find and buy the house. Hillary tells us all about decorating her house for the holidays. She goes over her schedule, talks about where she gets all of her resourses from, and how she goes from design idea to execution every single year. Kelly and Hillary then talk about the desings themselves. What they are, some absurd stories about them, and the ways that different people have been inspired or moved by them. Hillary talks about her design philosophy, and how she goes about meeting clients, and creating a lifestyle for them or meeting them in their lifestyle. Jae asks her about some other events around the city and the three talk about some of the various events you can do while around New York during the holiday season. Finally, Kelly asks Hillary about some of her New York City Essentials, like where she goes for inspiration, where her favorite shops are and how she likes to get around. But above all else; Hillary Wallace is a New Yorker. We Seen'T It – Episode 297: “When the Hits Became Elevator Music” On Episode 297 of We Seen'T It, Pat, Kevin, and Josh dive back into the 50 Cent–produced Netflix documentary centered on P. Diddy, unpacking new thoughts, lingering questions, and the uncomfortable conversations it sparks. From industry power dynamics to cultural impact, the crew reflects on what it feels like revisiting these stories with grown-man perspective. The episode also turns nostalgic as the hosts rewind to the '90s and early 2000s, sharing where they were in life while all of this was unfolding in real time. Growing up glued to BET and MTV, they reminisce about music videos, countdowns, and an era when hip-hop and R&B shaped the culture daily. And then comes the funny (and slightly wild) realization: the music that once defined the streets, the clubs, and the culture is now playing in elevators, grocery stores, and waiting rooms. Time is undefeated — and sometimes hilarious. It's reflection, nostalgia, culture talk, and real conversation the We Seen'T It way.
This episode pulls back the curtain on daily life inside a country under siege. From a darkened apartment in Kyiv, Ukrainian Member of Parliament and mother Halyna Yanchenko describes nights without electricity, heat, water, or internet. Elevators stop. Food cannot be cooked. Homes go cold. This is not a war fought only on front lines or maps. It is a deliberate campaign aimed at civilians, families, and children, designed to exhaust, frighten, and break a society from the inside out. In her own words, Yanchenko explains what it means to raise children in darkness, and why Ukraine says this is not just war, but an attempt to erase civilian life itself.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Today we are sharing an episode from a brand new podcast launched on the RQ Network, Burned by a Paper Sun.Burned by a Paper Sun is a brand new, chilling, horror anthology podcast from the same brilliant creators of The Gentleman From Hell, Maeltopia and The Sleep Wake Cycle. In Burned by a Paper Sun, shadows come in a thousand shapes—some drawn long beneath a dying sky, others drifting and lost beneath a wandering cloud. Yet one certainty has always remained: every shadow must have a caster. But what if that isn't true? What if darkness could stand on its own? In this first episode William is a rational man, but even rational men are left broken by the Great Darkness of 1999. Despite his sceptical outlook, he is haunted by dreams of the most horrible and macabre variety. Most of all, he is terrorised by a single harrowing figure - the Elevator Man.Introduction and outro by Billie HindleYou can listen to the next episode of Burned by a Paper Sun by clicking on this link, or by searching for Burned by a Paper Sun wherever you find podcasts, or on the Rusty Quill website--Cast:Written by Mark AnzaloneEdited by Walker KornfeldSound mastering by Steven J. A charming West Virginia river town. A historic hotel on the Ohio River. A quiet Tuesday night that should've been forgettable. Two men check in for a simple business trip in Parkersburg and walk into a lobby that feels… wrong. No staff at the front desk. No other guests milling around. Just the hush of a building that seems to be waiting for something. Or someone. Then the elevator doors open. Inside stands a woman dressed decades out of time—hat, laced-up boots, skin almost drained of color. She speaks like she belongs there. The problem? The floor she's headed to is closed for renovations. And when she glides out into the hallway, the men realize what they can't see is far more unsettling than what they can.
