In my recent conversation with Erik Hatch, one point in particular stood out to me - his emphasis on having a strong personal foundation. Before we think of our teams and our clients, our relationships with God, our families and ourselves come first. Without them, we can't show up effectively as leaders. With everything happening in our world and our businesses, it's so easy to be fearful, but if we believe in something bigger than ourselves, we have the tools we need to get through it. How do we evaluate our emotional states and move toward faith if we feel fearful? In this episode, I'm going to share why faith in something bigger makes us better team leaders. 3 Things We Learned From This Episode How to break out of the fear, uncertainty, distraction our industry peddles to us The triangle we need to get dialed in to thrive as business owners  How to measure our fear and work toward faith If you want to continue the conversation, here's what you can do to get started today: 1. In an industry where “ leverage”, and “building a team” are popular buzzwords, it's easy to fall into the trap of scaling for scale's sake, and end up with a draining, disorganized, and costly business.  Erik Hatch is a team leader who plays the game of business at a really high level, with over 6000 homes sold and 500 coaching members. For the last ten years, Erik Hatch has been a full-time realtor. Today, he also runs a successful coaching business, helping others create systems and teams so they can scale. He lives and works in Fargo, ND, and started out in real estate part-time while he was working as a minister. Erik has properties nationwide and is about to open his sixth market in Minneapolis, MN. He's built such a successful team over the years that now, his business pretty much runs without him. Many people want to make more money by working less, and you can only do that by hiring a team of great individuals. Eric believes in empowering and lifting people up over just delegating tasks.Erik Hatch and Gavin are in some of the same masterminds and together, they discuss what it takes to build and run a successful real estate team. They also talk about some of the challenges when it comes to hiring. Much like today's dating world, people look for instant gratification when hiring. Making a quick decision on hiring someone without doing your due diligence is a decision you might regret. It pays to take your time, and Erik's hiring process is lengthy for a reason. He doesn't want people who are interested in real estate as a get-rich-quick scheme. If people make it all the way to the end of his interview process, then Erik knows they're serious about working with him. By getting a potential hire to relax and go off script, you can start to get to know them as a person. Solid references are key when building out your team. It's important to crack that outer shell and get to the truth of what it's like to work with someone.Erik and his partner, Robby have a book coming out called “The Perfect Real Estate Agent Blueprint”. Real Estate Mogul Podcast - Learn How To Leverage Investing Strategies in Your Real Estate Business

Whether we're agents new to the investing space or vice versa, our marketing makes all the difference to our results. We could be the best agents and investors in our markets, but if no one knows that, we'll never get the success we want.  What should our marketing strategies look like? Which approach should we be taking, and is there a chance we're going about it all wrong? More importantly, is it possible to get great marketing without spending a ton of money on ad campaigns? In this episode, the Founder of Hatch Realty, Erik Hatch shares how he's captured mindshare in his market.  "Word of mouth advertising is the greatest, cheapest way to advertise." -Erik Hatch Three Things You'll Learn In This Episode How to build a recognizable brand The key to successful marketing lies in mindshare, but for the best results, people need to be thinking about who they are, rather than what they do. At the end of the day, we are our brands. How to follow the lead of top dog agents and investors When we're new to being agents or investors, our first port of call should be looking into what the successful people in the space are doing. Follow their social media, take a look at their marketing and get an idea of what's working. The importance of zoning into our databases Purchased leads are never quite as fulfilling as earned leads, and that's because earned business comes from people who already know, like, and trust us. How Erik Hatch Cut His Work Load in Half and Built a Bigger Business

Something many leaders can relate to is a feeling of being emotionally, spiritually, and physically drained by the pursuit of success, but we don’t need to reach that level of exhaustion. If we surround ourselves with the right people and stop trying to do it on our own, we can build booming businesses without sacrificing our personal wellbeing. Working with the kind of talent who share our goals and values is the key to sustainable success. That being said, finding and retaining them is often easier said than done. What are top producers looking for in leaders, and what can we do to meet their needs? How can we hang on to our agents and help them grow alongside us?  In this episode, Founder of Hatch Realty, Erik Hatch shares how building a ‘teamerage’ helped him cut his weekly work hours in half, all while growing his business to astronomical heights.    Three Things We Learned From This Episode Why the people in our organizations make all the difference: It’s easier to build a business when our teams are filled with trustworthy, honest individuals who want to succeed as much as we do. These are the people who will stay by our side, even when we make a wrong move.  How to retain the right people: No top agent wants to hit a glass ceiling, so remove anything that could hamper their growth. Be open to discussions about rewards and benefits, and agree to adjusted commission splits on the proviso that they reach a goal that ensures everyone wins.  The importance of meritocracy in our teams: Allowing some agents to progress to a new career path and denying it to others creates a breeding ground for resentment. Keep everyone happy by ensuring everyone has to earn their place and the benefits that come with it.    Guest Bio: Erik Hatch is an entrepreneur, public speaker, Realtor, author, coach, investor, do-gooder, husband, father, and mediocre golfer. Erik has 25 businesses that he owns/operates with the help of some tremendous partners and relationships. In addition, he has built 2 non-profit movements that have raised nearly 3 million dollars to help serve kids and families in need. Fargo, ND has been home to Erik his entire life. It is where he and his wife Emily met -and where they’re raising their 2 kids (Finley and Simon). Erik is an alumnus of North Dakota State University and Fargo North High School. Hatch’s passions are simple –serving others and having fun while doing so. When Erik was 9 years old, he won a watermelon seed spitting contest at a local grocery store…so you’d be foolish not to trust him in real estate! Out of college, Erik went to work as a youth minister for nearly a decade. It is here that he really fell in love with cultivating deep relationships and harnessed his passion for inspiring and uplifting anyone he came in contact with. Erik started Hatch Realty in 2014 with a passion to do things differently than the status quo. He wanted to create a place where the most incredible people wanted to work and all his energy would be put into helping them to reach their dreams. Erik knew that great people would deliver world-class service for all those they could serve.   To find out more, go to:https://www.hatchrealty.com/ https://www.hatchcoaching.com/  https://www.linkedin.com/in/erikhatch1/    Books mentioned in this episode:https://www.amazon.com/Who-Not-How-Accelerating-Teamwork/dp/1401960588 https://www.amazon.com/Millionaire-Real-Estate-Agent-About/dp/0071444041

We’re often led to believe that business is a ruthless game, but in reality, we need to adopt a mindset of service to see great results. How can we adopt this mindset when we’re facing struggles of our own? Will serving our teams detract from our client relations? How can we be sure that others won’t take advantage of our ideas when we try to help? On this episode, co-creator of ‘Sell a Home, Save a Child’ and author of Play for the Person Next to You: A Guide to Servant Leadership, Erik Hatch, shares why we need to adopt a mindset of abundance.    Stop dwelling on your own struggles. When you channel your energy into cheering for the person next you, your own pain dissipates. -Erik Hatch   Takeaways + Tactics  Instead of focusing on our own struggles, we need to play for the people next to us. This not only assists someone else, but also helps us shift our attention to something more positive.  As leaders, we need to serve those on our teams before we try to serve our clients. If we take care of our teams, everything else will fall into place.  Have a mindset of abundance and be willing to help others without worrying that they may copy our ideas. The more we give, the more we get. On this episode, we spoke about the importance of having a mindset of service. We also shared the importance of a mindset of abundance, and discussed why we need to be willing to share with others. We also discussed:  Why we need to do good deeds without thinking about how they’ll benefit us How to assemble a team of people willing to serve each other That we should be working with emotion in mind, rather than a number of transactions Guest Bio-  Erik Hatch is a Realtor and the owner of Hatch Realty. In this episode of From Idea to Done, we talk about Erick Hatch's book, "Play for the Person Next to You." We take a look at how knowing your team member's professional and personal goals can help teamwork as a whole.J/E: Hey Everyone, I'm Josh and I'm ErickE: Today’s idea is Playing For The Person Next To You. This is a book written by Fargo’s very own Erik Hatch. We went to his book release party a couple of weeks ago. Like many parties, I left them excited. I wanted to come back, and make things better for our team. Josh how did you feel after the release party?J: I really like Erik and how he’s evolved his message over the years. He definitely drove home why we need to be playing for the person next to us. E: I leave a lot of those events really inspired, then I get back to the office, and do nothing with the information. I wanted to change that with this. I now have a weekly spreadsheet that I make with all of my professional and personal goals. At the top I listed each of our team members. We had a few pretty big discussions lately, and I was able to find everyone else’s why. I list that first on my spreadsheet, along with the questions what can I do to help you this week, and what I need from you this week. This puts teamwork first, and is the first thing I look at each week. Can we talk about some of your thoughts as our owner to help us play for each other?J: There are some goals and promises that I’ve made to my family and they tie to performance here at the office. Those goals aren’t something that I can achieve on my own but need the tribe to help me get there. How can I flip that from an owners perspective and instead say, how can you help me write you a $10k quarterly bonus check, or Erick I know you like to travel, how can you help me send you to India.E: You presented on your why last week. One of the best parts of your presentation was when you talked about wanting to really change our lives, and help us get where we want. I think the part I like about working on a small team is co-dependance. We all have things we want to do outside of work. Explaining to each other what those things are, and helps us align for each other. That is something you don’t get at a bigger company. J: Hatch has a unique perspective of how can you be a chapter in everyone else’s book vs your own book which i think plays well here. Well other than he just wrote a book, so I might need to talk to him about that….E: After the presentation we said hi to Erik. I told him I wasn’t going to have him sign my book until I read it. I reached out to him today to have a lunch meeting, and get his thoughts on my takeaways, and how I can make our action for our team betterJ: I think that's great.E: Since we have had our big discussions it is really motivating for me to be working for Suman to see his family, helping you get a home and time with your kids, and helping everyone else pay for their upcoming weddings. It is a different good feeling knowing what everyone is trying to do, and it keeps me on track with my work to help get them there. Erik’s book opened my eyes up to a better way of thinking.J: 100%E: Thank you for listening to this episode, if you know a startup that could use our random advice and thoughts have them subscribe and leave a review on iTunes.

One of the biggest things happening in our industry right now is the influx of investor money. There is a great opportunity for us to grow our businesses, add more volume and increase our bottom line. What is Snap Offer and how is our guest, Erik Hatch, using it to boost his business? How can we leverage these tools and create distinct advantages against big box companies and Wall Street? On this episode, coach and investor, Erik Hatch shares how Snap Offer works and why it’s such a great source for qualified leads.   Takeaways + Tactics    Sellers who are using iBuyers are looking to escape some of the frustrations that come with selling a house; and they are willing to forgo equity for it. There are 127 million single family properties in the US and 18 million of those are inherited properties or owned by disinterested landlords. Most investors are missing a great opportunity by not targeting them.  If we have a real estate team and are looking to launch our investing operation, we should have a cash buyer on our team. If we’re investors, we should be looking to add quality realtors to our investment personnel.   Through Snap Offer, Erik Hatch has added $400k in commissions, 100 transactions, and $100k in equity to his bottom line. iBuyers have value because they offer many sellers what they are looking for, which is a first class service along with immediacy and convenience. It’s important to add this functionality to our businesses because it makes us more versatile. If we build multiple tools into our operations, we’ll be better prepared to respond to shifts in the market.

REALTOR® Erik Hatch has been through many ups and downs in the Real Estate industry. Through these ‘fires’ as he calls them, Erik found what it takes to find success. He currently has a radio station and leads a top-rated team. MyOutDesk CEO and co-founder Daniel Ramsey has a conversation with Erik to talk about the adversities he has faced and how he turned them into opportunities. In the early stages of his career, Erik went from a solo agent after selling 52 houses to building a team because he felt that it was what he was supposed to do. He built his team of 13 comprised of agents, a few admins and they were ‘Erik and the Rockets.’ Erik said he fell short as a leader because he was not doing much for them. They made many mistakes as they were growing, he says they were messy. He got all the attention and did not listen to anyone else because he let his ego get in the way. Eventually, he crashed and burned and got kicked-out in April of 2013. Out of his team of 13, only two people went with him. After everything went down, he learned from his mistakes and had to rebuild his career, shifting to a different market, focusing on brokerage and investments, and taking steps to make sure he didn’t fall down that hole again. Erik has learned that being a realtor and running a team is as different as climbing a tree and swimming in the ocean. Not realizing that is what causes most people to stumble when they transition from being a Realtor, and a high producing realtor to them leading a team.  They simply bring people along to pick up their breadcrumbs instead of building up their team.  Every day should be about the refinements of your leadership, but even more so scaling leadership and developing those other people in your organization. Erik has 18 companies as of today, and he is part of 10 investment groups. Aside from building those businesses, he is also focused on his leadership and on maximizing the potential of other leaders within his sphere. Erik Hatch is a native of Fargo, ND and has a beautiful family (wife Emily and children – Finley and Simon). His passions are simple – making a difference, and having fun while doing so. Erik is the creator of the Homeless & Hungry movement that has raised close to a million dollars since 2006 for local homeless shelters. His dedication to the community and investment in the place he calls home is unparalleled. Erik has built the top producing real estate team in North Dakota (source: Wall Street Journal) since 2012. Erik’s real estate team has grown at a record pace – amidst significant failures and successes. He is garnering national attention for his efforts. With culture at the core, The Erik Hatch Team has helped over 2,500 families since 2012 with their real estate needs. Learn More: https://www.myoutdesk.com

A lot of the time, we simply go through the motions of what’s expected of us in business, at home, or in our communities. How can you stop doing what’s merely ‘good’, and start being remarkable? What do you need to do to set yourself apart as a phenomenal entrepreneur, parent, spouse, or friend? On this episode, I talk with business coach, consultant, speaker and entrepreneur, Erik Hatch to answer these questions and more.     Figure out who you are going to be, and be exceptional. -Erik Hatch   Takeaways Look at everything holistically. You can’t be one person at work and a different person at home. Market yourself for who YOU are, in your entirety. Own up to your mistakes and share your failures with others. You can gain trust more easily by being transparent about your brokenness. To be remarkable, you have to be intentional and consistent. Be sure of what you want to do, and keep doing it. At the start of the episode, Erik shared why you need to know who you are, and market the best version of yourself to the world. He then mentioned why some people may need to take smaller steps before they feel comfortable enough to be fully transparent. Towards the end of the episode, Erik explained how you can become remarkable once you’ve set your goals.   We also discussed: Why it’s vital to have a measurable timeline and a strategy with numbers associated The importance of building one-on-one relationships with people Why you should share your vulnerabilities on social media   The importance of personal relationships is immeasurable to your business. However, remember never to treat one area of your life in isolation from the rest. Your life in business can never be detached from your life at home. Take a holistic approach, and be intentional and consistent.   Guest Bio - Erik Hatch is a Realtor, business coach, consultant, speaker and entrepreneur. With a passion for building relationships, Erik believes that the only way to become remarkable is by going the extra mile when people are in need. Erik is also adamant that failure is a part of everyone’s story, and that we should own our downfalls as much as we celebrate our successes.   To find out more about Erik, head to: www.hatchcoaching.com

The golden goose in real estate is listing leads, and having a defined system for generating leads. How did Erik Hatch solve this pain point with Snap Offers? Why is it so powerful to offer sellers more than one option when it comes to price? Why are people the basis of every successful business? On this episode, I’m joined by Realtor, broker, coach and investor, Erik Hatch to talk about how he’s using instant offers to drive lead generation. 3 Things We Learned The importance of people A lot of times people think that systems and strategies are the foundation of a business, but the foundation of any business are the people that comprise it. If you have the right people, the rest inherently easier. The biggest differentiator of Snap Offers Most instant offer platforms don’t offer the seller two prices. Snap Offers gives the customer the option of an investor price which allows them to opt out of dealing with open houses, viewings etc. How to stay ahead of the game in this real estate market One of the ways to stay relevant is to be hyper local. You can have massive amounts of reach by concentrating on one zip code. By having a very specific target you can gain mindshare with residents of that area. Instant offers are an incredibly unique, smart and lucrative way to generate valuable leads to your real estate retail and investing business. This is especially true if you go hyper local and dominate a zip code. In order to really get results, we have to have the solid foundation of good people on our teams. They build the systems on which all our successes are built.

Successful people have all experienced challenges and failures, but it takes humility to admit it and grow. What is one of the most common mistakes team leaders make with their first wave of hires? How do you start implementing tactics that will actually get the wheel of success turning? Why should team leaders include the rest of the key staff in masterminds? On this episode, we talk to Erik Hatch about failing and starting over, to now running North Dakota’s #1 team. I’m a student of leading people, of empowerment, and how to give my best to people. This intrinsically leads them to give their best to me. -Erik Hatch Takeaways + Tactics Just because you know how to sell houses, doesn’t mean you know how to lead people. Our first wave of hires leave because we’re still too focused on ourselves. We have to realize that we’re there to work for our people, not the other way round. High level training and education shouldn’t just be for the rainmaker. It leads to a situation where the rainmaker comes in and dumps a new strategy on the team without giving them a chance to understand it and buy in. The open door policy is not for the people to go to the leader; it’s for the leader to go to the people. Unscheduled check-ins can be a lot more effective that scheduled ones. At the star of the show, Erik shared how he found his way into real estate and some of the biggest mistakes he made when we started out. He shared on the importance of being a leader who serves their people, not the other way round. We also talked about how Erik has made coaching a big part of his business. We also discussed: The importance of knowing when you should and shouldn’t take business Why prioritizing learning and education is essential How to make sure everyone on your team feels valued and seen   A lot of the failures we experience as leaders stem from how we handle the people in our team. More than anything, our job isn’t to make our team pick up the table scraps of what we do. It’s our job to feed them and care for them. We have to make sure that as we grow, we’re also making growth possible for the people around us. It’s also necessary to remind the people on our teams that they are valued, listened to and seen. This doesn’t just keep people loyal to us, it affects the work they produce too. By bringing the right energy to people, we get great energy back.
