This week we've got guest mage Felicia Day and resident director Michael Fell on the show to talk about what it was like to onboard our first star, the joy of live theatre, collaborative story telling, piles of treats, and murdering NPCs. Felicia Day has appeared in numerous television shows and films such as “Supernatural”, “Eureka” and “The Magicians”. However, Felicia is best known for her work in the web video world. She co-starred in Joss Whedon's Internet musical “Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog,” which won an Emmy in 2009. She also created and starred in the seminal web series “The Guild” which ran for six seasons and won numerous awards for web video excellence. Felicia expanded the brand into numerous directions, including a hit comic book series with Dark Horse Comics. Recently, her outfit from the show was added to the Smithsonian American History collection as an example of early web media pioneering. In 2012 Felicia created a production company called Geek & Sundry. The channel garnered over 2 million subscribers on YouTube in three years and created such gaming hits as Wil Wheaton's “Tabletop” and the RPG sensation “Critical Role”. The company was sold to Legendary Entertainment. Felicia produced content there until 2018. Felicia currently works as an actor, producer, writer and streamer. She's written two New York Times bestselling books and recently wrote the hit Audible Original “Third Eye“. She streams on Twitch weekly, has two podcasts, Felicitations! and Undressing with Tom Lenk, and writes a monthly newsletter, “Felicitations!” Want to Adventure with us??? Welcome to the Greetings and Felicitations, a podcast where I explore topics which might not seem to be directly related to compliance but clearly influence our profession. Today we delve into the most controversial topics of the day with guest Ben Locwin. We speak about postmodernism - a philosophical movement that emerged in the late 1800s, challenging traditional views of universal truths and the idea of an objective reality. Ben believes that rejecting the thought process of our predecessors has become popular, with an emphasis on fashion and social media. He says it's important to get facts from reliable sources, not just from viral content. Ben stressed the importance of primary education, advocating for the teaching of scientific methods to uphold the value of evidence-based opinion. Join us on Greetings and Felicitations as we explore the pressing topics of today with genuine and thoughtful conversations. Key Highlights The Postmodern rejection of the Enlightenment and its impact on Society [00:05:10] Innovation and Disruption in Established Fields of Science [00:09:30] The Impact of Popular Culture on Society [00:13:41] The Perils of Social Media's Echo Chambers: Recognizing the Need for Evidence-Based Truths [00:17:51] The Dangers of Alternative Facts [00:22:10] Role of Primary Education in Constructive Correction and Critical Thinking [00:26:48] Notable Quotes 1. "It's really a broad topic. It is an interesting 1 to me because it's ultimately very philosophical, and I tend to try to stray away from that. On a daily basis." 2. "Postmodernism suggests that it's fashionable to reject clear minded rational thinking. It basically distinguishes itself from other schools of thought by rejecting universal truths, by rejecting an objective reality." 3. "Another big 1 is reject any idea that through the use of reason and logic that human beings can change themselves in societies for the better." 4. "John Adams once observed, I'll have to paraphrase it, but something like facts are stubborn things. And whatever may be our wishes or inclinations or the dictates of our passions. They can't alter the state of facts and evidence."" Resources Ben Locwin on LinkedIn

Will God answer your prayer if you don't end with, "In Jesus' name, Amen?" Learn what praying in the name of Jesus really means. I taught this week on the call of Abraham and the development of God's missionary call through the nation of Israel as they were responsible to communicate the truth of God to the cultures around them. They were given that great commission. The great commission didn't start in Matthew 28. It started with Abraham in Genesis 12—the first three verses there—Abraham, chosen by God to raise up a nation who would then be God's priests to the world so that they would be a blessing to all of the nations. They had a unique role in the great monotheistic religion. The Jews were supposed to reflect morality to the world. Israel was to witness to the name of God. When they talked about the name of God and witnessing to God's name, that does not mean that they were to let everybody know what they called God, "Yahweh." Their goal wasn't to cover the countryside with evangelists who just let everybody know what the right word for God was. It meant something different. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆https://linktr.ee/jacksonlibon------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------#realtalk #face #instagram #SDF #SYNDICAT #DESPUTES #amour #take #couple #dance #dancers #vogue #voguedqnce #garden #tiktok #psychology #beyou #near #love #foryou #money #ForYouPizza #fyp #irobot #theend #pups #TikToker #couplegoals #famille #relation #doudou #youtube #twitter #tiktokers #love #reeĺs #shorts #instagood #follow #like #ouy #oyu #babyshark #lilnasx #girl #happybirthday #movie #nbayoungboy #deviance #autotrader #trading #khan #academy #carter #carguru #ancestry #accords #abc #news #bts #cbs #huru #bluebook #socialmedia #whatsapp #music #google #photography #memes #marketing #india #followforfollowback #likeforlikes #a #insta #fashion #k #trending #digitalmarketing #covid #o #snapchat #socialmediamarketing

Welcome to Greetings and Felicitations. In this series I am joined by Astrophysicist and Healthcare Futurist Ben Locwin. In this podcast we consider the TOS episode The Naked Time as a starting point for the consideration of the science around the warp drive. A landing party from the Enterprise beams aboard Psi 2000, an ancient planet about to break up. They find all six of the crew manning the station dead. Crewman Joey unwisely removes his gloves is contaminated by a red liquid. As Psi 2000 shows a shift in magnetic field and mass, the Enterprise begins a close orbit requiring constant vigilance. Unfortunately, an infected Lt. O'Reilly has turned off the warp engines. To restart the warp engines, matter and antimatter must be mixed in a controlled implosion. However, after mixing matter and antimatter at a colder than recommended temperature according to an untested intermix formula, the Enterprise is thrown into a time warp which causes the chronometer to run backwards. This allows the Enterprise to escape the breakup of the planet, returning it 71 hours into the past and therefore before any of the episode's events took place. Highlights include: 1. Why must you suspend your disbelief for this episode? 2. How would a warp drive work in practice? 3. Why does E=MC²control this issue? 4. What is antimatter? 5. What is the time wise effect on high speed travel?
In this episode of Greetings and Felicitations, I am joined by Astrophysicist and Healthcare Futurist Ben Locwin. In this podcast we consider the TOS episode Mirror Mirror as a starting point for the consideration of the science around the transporter. In this episode, a landing party Kirk, McCoy, Scotty, and Uhura beams back up to the Enterprise. Interference from an ion storm, however, causes them to be transported into a parallel universe and a mirror image Enterprise. Now aboard the Imperial Starship Enterprise, the landing party discovers crew members who are mirror images of themselves and belong to an evil Federation known as the Empire. Their first experience is the torture of transporter operator Mr. Kyle with an agonizer for his alleged failure to beam the landing party up quickly enough. Immediately, Kirk realizes that a mirror image landing party must have been beamed aboard the real U.S.S. Enterprise. Kirk, Uhura, McCoy, and Scotty impersonate their mirror image counterparts while finding a way to return to their universe. When Kirk and the party return, they find that their Empire counterparts were immediately recognized and put in detention. The Enterprise's crew attributes this to the fact that it is easier for logical men to appear barbarous than for barbarous men to appear civilized. Highlights include: Quantum transportation of information. While we cannot yet teleport, we can recreate. How does the telegraph signal explain this science used in Star Trek? What about the radio signals from the Apollo moon flights?

Felicitations! This was a live Viewers Comments & Questions stream from 13 April 2020. You can watch it on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/oHLMUjB-wK4 We’re still in Covid-19 lockdown, so Dan is on a screen and I’m (the only person) in the studio. And Katherine, but we are a family unit so that’s allowed. The main topic of discussion was last Friday's video about single-head tape delays and a bunch of pedals that seek to emulate them. Dinosaurs have been leaving their footprints across pop culture for over a century! In this episode, we talk about some of our favorite dino depictions, franchises, characters, and tropes. Topics include: Is Godzilla a dinosaur? How is Dr. Ellie Sattler so badass? And, should Dwayne Johnson be in every movie? (Yes.) Minor spoiler warning: We rag on Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom more than we planned to. Sorry not sorry. (No major plot details revealed.) We also play a game of Would You Rather? Fandom Edition. And we wrap with our Random Recommendations: Carry On by Rainbow Rowell and Felicitations!, a Felicia Day podcast. Stay tuned to the very end for bloopers. Our awesome intro/outro music is "We Are Highscore" by Krackatoa.

Greetings and Felicitations, noble pod-people! Yes, I think I carried that off quite well. No way I fucked up that greeting! I am totally passing for one of you hew-mans! Today on the magical internet radiola programme, we're talking about all the times we fucked up! See, there's times when you just don't get it right, and it's kinda your fault. But that's OK! The Gorillamen aren't here to judge, because, as you will learn in this podcast, we're kind of masters of fucking up. We start, of course, with the first time we remember fucking up, before moving to our most recent fuckups. Then we shift gears a little bit to reminisce about the last time each of us was totally effed up on chemicals or booze or the like, and cover any embarrassing things we did while in our fucked-up states! Then we move to the last times our bodies fucked up on us, which is pretty recent for at least one of the Gorillamen. We cover our biggest fuckups, our funniest fuckups, and the worst fuckups to which we've borne witness, all before discussing the role of technology in fucking up and (hopefully) coming up with plans to fuck up less in the future. Got a time when you really fucked up? Share it in the comments!

Felicitations! We're the Fast Food Fanatics! We run down all the latest news and gossip in the deliciously detrimental world of flash-fried quick eats! What's cooking this week? Well, your titular fanatics Colton and Sid are full of beans and keen as mustard to shoot the breeze on some rather fishy business, including McDonald's new chicken nuggets recipe, the consequences of California's controversial $15 dollar minimum wage, why you should never ever eat at a Burger King in Brooklyn, and Chik-fil-A's oh so exclusive "invitation only" loyalty program! (Seriously, did you know about that? I go to Chik-fil-A almost every frigging day, and I've never received no red carpet treatment! "A-list membership" my ass! Screw those chicken-shit frying elitists!) Also, should millennials invest in Chipotle stock? The answer might surprise you! We might have our fingers in a lot of pies this time around, but believe me buddy, we know our onions! So let's fry some fish, and dig in to the meat of thin- WAIT A MINUTE! Don't close that tab! We aren't here to jabber about junk food. We're the mother-freaking Manga Mavericks, and as per our usual m.o., we mean to madly mutter about manga matters! Which we do after talking 10 minutes about how bad fast-food is for you, especially if you live in New York City. ...No, seriously, we're still a manga podcast! We promise! Want me to prove it to you? Well, in this installment, we commend the winners of the Tezuka Cultural Prize, ponder the practicality of Nissan's new manga-inspired Nissan Leaf model, and get excited for the upcoming documentary about Fujio Akatsuka, Makoto Raiku's new manga, the Cardcaptor Sakura sequel series, and much more! Plus, Colton drops a bombshell you'll NEVER see coming! There's no way that can be right! Can it? Also, we briefly talk about them in the episode, but I wanted to provide links to two fantastic analytical pieces on the Dragon Ball franchise I've recently gotten into. The first is the video series Dragon Ball Dissection by a Youtuber named MistareFusion, who has been going through the Dragon Ball manga from beginning to end, thoroughly breaking down each story arc with a critical lens. I've seen many attempts at a "History of Power Rangers"-esque overview of Dragon Ball from many different Youtubers, but Dragon Ball Dissection is far and away the best, not only because it bases itself on the original manga instead of the anime adaption like most others do, but also because MistareFusion focuses on analysis over recap and pulls no punches on breaking down both the series' strengths and flaws in an acute and precise manner. The second Dragon Ball analytical series I'd like to highlight is Derek Padula's brilliant Dragon Ball Culture book series. To my knowledge, Padula is the first and only professional literary Dragon Ball scholar. His books are thoroughly well-researched and written in a formal but still highly accessible manner, providing fascinating insight on the culture, themes, and history that influenced the story and world of Dragon Ball. His books so far have encompassed the entirety of the pre-Z era of the series, with additional books including one exploring the "Over 9000!" phenomenon, and a soulful collection of personal reflections on the series from fans all over the world aptly titled "Dragon Soul." Both MistareFusion's videos and Mr. Padula's books are excellent pieces for for any Dragon Ball fan looking to dig deeper into the essence of the franchise, and I highly recommend them. Oh, and just an FYI, in the episode we discuss Yona of the Dawn going on hiatus, which was still indefinite at the time we recorded of the episode. Since then, however, it's come to light that the series will resume this month in the 12th issue of Hana to Yume out on May 20th. Which kind of makes that whole talking point retroactively pointless, unfortunately, but that kind of thing's to be expected when you're running a bi-weekly podcast. The manga world never sleeps! Enjoy the show, and follow us on twitter at @sniperking323 and @lumranmayasha. If there’s something you want to ask that’s too big to tweet, drop us a line in the comments below, or e-mail us at mangamavericks@gmail.com! Thanks for listening!
