Welcome to Season 3, Episode 45! The growth of Hip Hop and Rap was a worldwide phenomena back in the 1980s and 1990s, and the Philippines were one of the countries at the forefront. In fact, Pinoy Hip Hop with Filipinos and Filipino Americans has been an impact in the genre for decades now. In this episode, we talk about the growth of Hip Hop and who some of the most influential Pinoy Hip Hop and Rap stars were on the scene. From individuals like Francis M, Andrew E, Lady Diane, MC Lara, Michael V, and Markie D to groups like Rapi Boys, Bass Rhyme Posse, and Rapasia, Pinoy Hip Hop artists and rappers would use English, Tagalog, Chavacano, and other Filipino languages to perform. These artists as well as DJs and Mixers like DJ Omar D'Animal, DJ Bongskie and DJ Ouch formed the early years of Pinoy Hip Hop that was also known as the Golden Age of Pinoy Hip Hop. Songs could be about silly things or focus on some of the challenges and triumphs found in their lives in the Philippines. On Easter Day 1916, more than a thousand Irishmen stormed Dublin city center, seizing the General Post Office building and reading the Proclamation for an independent Irish Republic. The British declared martial law shortly afterward, and the rebellion was violently quashed by the military. In a ten-day period after the event, fourteen leaders of the uprising were executed by firing squad. In New York, news of the uprising spread quickly among the substantial Irish American population. Initially the media blamed German interference, but eventually news of British-propagated atrocities came to light, and Irish Americans were quick to respond. America and the Making of an Independent Ireland: A History (NYU Press, 2021) centres on the diplomatic relationship between Ireland and the United States at the time of Irish Independence and World War I. Beginning with the Rising of 1916, Francis M. Carroll chronicles how Irish Americans responded to the movement for Irish independence and pressuring the US government to intervene on the side of Ireland. Carroll's in-depth analysis demonstrates that Irish Americans after World War I raised funds for the Dáil Éireann government and for war relief, while shaping public opinion in favor of an independent nation. The book illustrates how the US government was the first power to extend diplomatic recognition to Ireland and welcome it into the international community. Overall, Carroll argues that the existence of the state of Ireland is owed to considerable effort and intervention by Irish Americans and the American public at large. To mark 50 episodes on the podcast, I share my own evolving thoughts on food. I reflect on the state of agriculture and on what sustainability might mean in the food movement today. My experience over the last half decade engaging with the food movement has been that debates are all too often reduced to soundbites on social media. Complex arguments are reduced to 280 characters on Twitter, angry posts on Facebook, and rants on YouTube. We're talking past each other. That's unhelpful. By sharing my thoughts, I hope to encourage more honest, open and nuanced discussions with whoever is listening. In this episode, I briefly discuss: The failed promises of industrial agriculture The winners and losers of our food system Food sustainability through different lenses Agriculture and humanity's relationship to nature The future of farming through Charles C. In this episode, we get the chance to chat with Pia Magalona and Saab Magalona-Bacarro, wife and daughter respectively of the late “Master Rapper” Francis Magalona, popularly known as Francis M. We dwell on his legacy, imagine him in a podcast, and think about Filipinized rap music. Unpacking the nuances of his song Mga Kababayan, we relive it for this generation, one deprived of seeing him perform live. Why should the youth still listen to the words and bars of their padre de pamilya?
Acabaremos con un nuevo CASO AISLADO DE LA SEMANA, sección de Stéphane M. Acid-Base or pH balance of your fluids is still the bottom line in all the following determinations. It is not known why yet, in physiological terms, but some people just don't do well on alkalinizing diets. Metabolic typing provides a good answer to this question and many others. http://www.life-enthusiast.com/index/Education/Pleomorphism/Metabolic_Typing The term biochemical individuality was coined by the biochemist Dr. Roger Williams. George Watson's book Nutrition and Your Mind: The Psychochemical Response, developed a protocol for assessing the health of individuals suffering from 'mental imbalances', based on the acidity or alkalinity of their venous blood. William L. Wolcott in 1983 showed that either the Oxidative or Autonomic control system determined a person's response to acid or alkaline foods. Francis M. Pottenger, M.D. in the 1930s and 1940s developed the relationship of nutrition to the sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions of the autonomic nervous system which are delineated in his book, Symposium of Visceral Disease and Vincent who developed the BTA machine, Royal Lee who started Standard Process, and Dr. Donald Kelly, D.D.S. Together these gentlemen developed Metabolic Typing. As a Certified Metabolic Typing® Advisor I will be able to assist you with the determination of your Metabolic Type® and with the interpretation of the results. I will also be able to assist you with the implementation of the changes. You will soon be seeing the positive effects of matching your food intake with your physiological needs. http://life-enthusiast.com/usa/metabolic-typing-advanced-test-p-745.html
