Becky Lange loved making use of things that others considered trash. The Portlander was an artist and civic leader who was killed earlier this year in the city's urban center. On this week's episode of OPB Politics Now, we hand the podcast over to our friends at The Evergreen. Alex Zielinski shared stories about her past reporting on Lange, her leadership in civic circles and much more.

Who Are You Becoming As a Leader While You're Building Success with Kenny Lange

Leadership is often measured by what we build: the business, the team, the results and the growth. But Kenny Lange believes there is a more important question leaders need to ask: Who are you becoming while you build it? Kenny is a leadership and scaling coach, entrepreneur and host of How Leaders Think. His path to coaching came through experience rather than theory. After being let go twice in four months, he started a digital agency almost by accident, grew it into a successful business and eventually sold it. He then helped the acquiring company nearly double its revenue while expanding its workforce across six US states and four countries. In this episode of Future Fit Leadership, we talk about what happens when founders become the "chief everything officer", why scaling requires leaders to surrender some of the things that made them successful in the first place, and why self-awareness needs to come before strategy, systems and accountability. Kenny also shares the deeply personal story behind his commitment to fostering and adoption. Together with his wife, he has fostered 18 children and adopted two, alongside their three biological children. That experience has shaped his understanding of vulnerability, responsibility and what it means to use leadership in service of something bigger than yourself. This is a conversation about business growth, identity and the inner work of leadership. Because sometimes the biggest challenge in scaling an organisation isn't what needs to change in the business. It's what needs to change in the leader.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Can't forget what happened last season. 1:34 Want to find the soul of this team and we need to improve our style of football. Style is the key. 2:06 Won't talk about players, we've not finished in the transfer market. You win a game with names. We have to deserve to win. 3:19 The new captain is Van de ven then Porro, then Davies then Maddison then Gray. 4:23 We are working well with Vinai, Nick and Lange. 5:52 Micky and Porro won't play tomorrow. 6:42 We started working last season 7:55 Premier League is a different league. You have to adapt to the league. Teams don't compete at the top without money. 9:32 I think an important part of this season are the medical staff, a lot of them are new. Very good at their jobs. Kudus is almost ready. 11:28 Not just one game a week we have the cups competing on three fronts. 12:17 Van de Ven working with the group, suffered a problem in Australia, not a big problem. 13:15 Really disappointed with Djed, I love him but I have to respect that if he wants to play I can't give him the guarantee. Romero the same. Have to find the soul of the club. 16:22 Kulusevski working with the group. He suffered too much. Tough for him. @HaytersTV – Football Up Close. Was Johan Lange really the problem at Tottenham, or was he simply working within the restrictions imposed by Daniel Levy? We're joined by the Athletics' Dan Kilpatrick to reassess Lange's time at Spurs, from the club's controversial focus on young players and a succession of questionable transfer windows to the dramatic change we've seen this summer. We discuss how much freedom Lange actually had under Levy, whether Spurs' recruitment strategy left the squad dangerously unbalanced, the influence of Roberto De Zerbi, and who deserves the credit for Tottenham now attracting players such as Sandro Tonali and Mateo Fernandez. Plus, we rate each of Lange's transfer windows and ask whether a man who looked vulnerable just months ago is finally proving his worth. Learn more about your ad choices. Are your ski boots holding you back from the performance your skis are capable of? In this episode I sit down with Master Boot Fitter Brent Amsbury to break down everything you need to know about plug boots — the type of ski boot most top level technical skiers are wearing.Brent is a Master Boot Fitter at Park City Ski Boot in Park City, Utah, where he sets up plug boots for racers, instructors, and high-performance skiers. If you're chasing higher carve scores, driving race skis, or pushing toward your highest instructor certification, this conversation will save you a lot of trial and error. We cover: • What a plug boot actually is and who it's really for • Why they're called “plug” boots (the internal construction explained) • Forward lean, cuff height, and why these boots feel so much more powerful • Ramp angle adjustability and why most racers reduce it • The thick sole and torsional rigidity that sets plug boots apart • Why plug boots are a “project in a box” — not a boot you just heat mold and go • The best time of year to buy (and why waiting until the season starts is a mistake) • Pricing, and how to get into a great plug boot for a fraction of retail • Longevity — how many days you can actually get out of one • Brand-by-brand differences: Lange/Rossignol, Head, Atomic, Fischer, Nordica/Technica, Dalbello • Fitting advice for wide, low-arch, or fleshy feet • How to choose your flex (110 vs 130 vs 140+) • How manufacturers actually create different flex ratings • Junior and shorter-cuff options • Why heated socks or boot heaters are non-negotiable in these boots • Why the pain isn't mandatory — proper fitting makes these boots comfortable • DIY boot work vs. working with a fitter⛷️ Enjoyed this podcast? Frustrated with staying at the same level of skiing for the past few years? To change your skiing you need a systematic approach that covers all aspects of skiing. Erstaunlich viele Frauen in Burkas. So muss Urlaub. Genauso. Urlaub vom Alltag. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Waarom hoort goud volgens hem in iedere portefeuille?

Playlist Blood, Sweat & Tears: Spinning Wheel; Miles Davis: Miles Runs The Voodoo Down; Mahavishnu Orchestra, John McLaughin, Carlos Santana: A Love Supreme; Weather Report: Birdland; Chick Corea & Return To Forever: Spain; Herbie Hancock: Watermelon Man; Jeff Beck: Come Dancing; Hiromi, Anthony Jackson, Simon Phillips: Alive.

Sometimes data can be overwhelming. Being able to transform that data into actionable information can deliver high ROI. Jesse Lange, Managing Director of Lange Estate Winery, and Mark Evans, President of Triumph Advisors, discuss how Enolytics helps them make strategic decisions through actionable information in every part of their businesses, from DTC and wholesale into operational planning. Thanks to Enolytics for sponsoring this episode. Detailed Show Notes: Jesse's background: 2nd generation winegrower in Willamette Valley, focus on winemaking and grape growingMark's background: helped build Jackson Family's fine wine division, ran wineries for ~20 years, now fractional CEO for 2 wineries (higher end, DTC focus)Often there's too much data (facts) and not enough information (which is actionable)Gut instinct not always the best tool, having data is criticalEnolytics having both DTC and wholesale data can be used for production planning, revenue projections, planning market trips, seeing which varietals/SKUs doing well in each regionThe data enables building 10 year revenue projections by channel at the driver level (e-commerce, hospitality, membership, wholesale)Key metrics to look at: membership retention rate, customer lifetime value by acquisition source, purchase velocityDrilling down on wholesale data allows targeting the right marketsMark requires clients to use Enolytics (or another data platform) to partner with themEnolytics helps move from reactive to proactive, e.g. - Mark often converts tasting room staff from part-time to full-time and has them implement outreach programs to at-risk members determined by Enolytics in their downtimeCan be used like a CRM tool, even where Salesforce was unsuccessfulCan see some impact of critic scores through the data, but influence has been waning since ~2005, younger generations not really looking at scoresOne key insight is understanding member referral, correlating customer acquisition data to new club membersEnolytics is high ROI: can often do 2-3 programs that deliver $5-10k/each that micro-targets people and doesn't overwhelm the customer baseAdvice for other wineries: looking at peer wineries is critical, need to train people on the data tools, and ensuring the data mapping from e-commerce to Enolytics is accurate is essential Hosted on Acast. For simple actionable tips to grow your business, subscribe to The FoundHer Files Liz Lange proves that the best marketing rarely needs a big budget, just the right people. On Dear FoundHer, host Lindsay Pinchuk talks with Liz Lange, founder of Liz Lange Maternity, about what it takes to build a business when the money and the confidence are not there yet. Partnership marketing sits at the center of it all, but not in the polished, strategic sense people mean today. For Liz, it looked like trust. It looked like showing up for people and letting the relationship do the work.Liz talks openly about starting as a bootstrap founder with almost nothing to lose and everything to prove. She is candid about the fear behind every major decision, and how often the loudest advice turned out to be wrong. Her instincts, not her budget, were what carried the business forward. The real thread running through this episode is trust. Trust in yourself, trust in slow relationships over quick wins, and trust that partnership marketing can outperform any ad spend when it comes from something real. For Liz, this wasn't a tactic. Networking with women came naturally to her. This is one of those real founder stories that reminds you that good PR for small businesses often starts with a single relationship, not a plan. It's proof that female founders do not need permission to trust what they already know.Episode Breakdown:00:00 Welcome to Dear FoundHer and the Growing Founder Community02:47 Meet Liz Lange, Maternity Fashion Pioneer03:47 Starting Liz Lange Maternity With a Fax Machine and No Budget09:13 Dressing Celebrities and Building Word of Mouth Marketing15:36 Learning the Fashion Business From the Ground Up19:07 Opening the First Liz Lange Maternity Store in New York23:27 Landing the Nike Partnership Marketing Deal27:05 How the Target Deal Changed the Business Forever33:29 Ignoring the Naysayers and Trusting Her Instincts39:03 Bootstrapping the Business Without Raising Outside Money41:37 Balancing Motherhood With a Fast Growing Business44:06 Life After Liz Lange Maternity and Home Shopping Network45:15 Buying the Figue Brand and Building a New Chapter46:17 Finding Community and Connection on Social Media49:13 Three Actionable Steps for Women Starting a BusinessConnect with Liz Lange:Follow Liz on InstagramJoin the Dear FoundHer... All three congressional candidates that New York City Mayor Zohran Mamadani endorsed won their primaries on Tuesday. The races were widely viewed as a test of just how much influence the left would have in charting the next chapter for the Democratic Party — and a referendum on Mamdani's power.“Mamdani is the one variable that truly matters,” Michael Lange, political writer and elections analyst of The Narrative Wars Substack, tells The Intercept Briefing as he breaks down the wins of Claire Valdez, Brad Lander, and Darializa Avila Chevalier by district. “You pair that type of broad cultural political figure with the block-by-block organizing of New York City DSA — it's a very powerful thing.” “You had a candidate who said ‘Fuck Kamala Harris' win the historic capital of Black America," says Lange, of Avila Chevalier's win over five-term incumbent Rep. Adriano Espaillat. “If that is not a distillation of the ‘Democratic tea party,' I don't quite know what is.”This week on the podcast, host Akela Lacy speaks to Lange and Intercept managing editor Maia Hibbett about the strategic mistakes of the traditionally progressive Working Families Party, the growing influence of the Democratic Socialists of America on the Democratic Party, and how the DSA is upending electoral politics from the left.“Here in New York, a lot of the momentum is being driven by the DSA, of course, but there are these progressive and insurgent candidates across the country who are trying to change the course of the Democratic Party," says Hibbett, “and excite voters who might not have been into the Democratic establishment in past cycles.”Lange notes how demographic changes and pressures on the Democratic Party base are impacting voters' priorities. “The party's becoming younger, more educated, and increasingly squeezed financially,” says Lange. “There's just this broad alienation of people who have not really been able to get ahead, not for their own fault, and I think it's like downstream of our economy, and that's why the affordability zeitgeist is so potent.” He adds, "You spin the wheels up in two years, what could this look like in a Democratic presidential primary?"Full transcript: https://interc.pt/4vsuUDFKeep our investigations free and fearless at theintercept.com/join.
