Bridget Esposito has been the Vice President and Global Creative Director at Prudential Financial for nine years. She is also a visual problem solver, a mother of two, a professor teaching design to nondesigners, and a former D1 softball player and coach. She still plays softball and credits the sport with her philosophy around leadership, team dynamics, and culture. The best piece of advice she has received is that "the game doesn't know" anything about you. All it knows is your level of effort on that given day. This advice has helped her fight the fear of hierarchies in business and approach her career with a "why not me?" attitude. In this episode, Alan and Bridget discuss the launch of Adobe Firefly and how it's helping calm fears and answer questions about AI for marketers and creatives. She advises professionals not to be scared of AI replacing them but instead to use it as a tool and understand how it can support them. She also gives us insight into the marketing focus at Prudential and the benefits and challenges of being a 150-year-old company. Prudential is pushing for innovation with a customer-first mindset and a culture that empowers everyone to understand they have the responsibility and ability to solve problems and improve processes. What You'll Learn: All about podcasting with Brad Barrett from the ChooseFI Podcast. (9:00) Money makes the mission possible. (14:40) Casting your stone. (19:00) What sustains most podcasts? (25:45) You have to monetize your community. (34:00) Financial independence in crisis. (44:00) Relationship will help your business survive everything. (56:00) Show Notes Brad Barrett is only 1 of 2 people we've ever had on the Flipped Lifestyle Podcast three different times - and with good reason! Brad was on our show for the first time back in December of 2014 - (which in Internet years that is at least 100 years ago) on episode 23 of the podcast! Brad is so OG that he was the first person we recorded with the 1-on-1 coaching format of the show you see and hear today! Back then Brad had a website called RichmondSavers.com. He lives in Richmond, Virginia and he and his wife are known for saving money. They got their start by helping people use credit card reward points to travel the world! They had even put together a trip to Disney World for around $100 for their family of four and ended up getting up a lot of press from the New York Times! It changed everything for their website! Brad ended up helping people 1-on-1 through hybrid of a real-world and online business! He would literally take his lunch from work to coach people over the phone. Around December or January of that year he started thinking about how he could scale it. In early 2015 a free course was somewhat a novel idea. It wasn't complicated just simply an email auto-responder. He had to put a scarcity around it simply because he didn't know how many people he was going to be able to work with so he started a Facebook Group (which again was new at the time). Their first month they had 200 or 300 people signing up and only continued getting several hundreds of sign-ups as the months went on! They were able to scale it and since then they have put over 50,000 people through that course - insane!! Back then we weren't totally in on the membership model, we were subserved in the course model. A few months later is when we went all in on the membership model! Brad told me a story years ago and it's still one of my favorite things to tell people about online business. Memberships are what we teach but online business is what it's all about. The internet and making money online and being able to reach out to anybody on earth is really how you can set your family free. I will never forget setting goals with Brad and him saying how he simply just wanted to pick his kids up off the school bus. I remember thinking, “man, if I can help that guy pick his kids up off the school bus that is an awesome goal.” Brad came back on Episode 72 and he told me that he now gets to pick his kid off the school bus. To this day it still about makes me want to cry because it is just such a worthy goal. And, that's really why we all do what we do with online business. It's about that level of control and freedom. Fast forward to today. Brad is co-host of an amazing podcast of his own called ChooseFI - with a huge following! All about podcasting with Brad from the ChooseFI Podcast. You never know where the online business is going to take you. You never know where one podcast appearance is going to take you. That's where Brand found himself just a few years ago.

Writer and "craictivist", The Don continues her top 20 picks from the first 144 episodes of A Pint With Seaniebee. (A perfect starting point for first-time listeners to the series). THE DON: Kind and fearless, Šejla used her art to navigate herself through the dreadful atrocities of the Bosnian War. ************************************** Šejla Kamerić has a pint with Seaniebee One of Europe's foremost visual artists joins the pod to share her life journey. Born and raised in Sarajevo, art has been a central part of Šejla's life since childhood. An introvert, she used her work to communicate and share the loss, horror, sadness and personal tragedy of the war, as Yugoslavia fractured and split around her. Often controversial, we discuss the motivation behind many of her works including the famous “Bosnian Girl” (2003) tinyurl.com/z2wna33 and the ambitious “From One, Learn All” (2015) tinyurl.com/jbotsgs – a forensically-driven memorial to Bosnia's wartime lost and missing. We also discuss the importance of struggle in the creative process; the role of art in changing behavior and attitudes; and why looking at life in the simplest terms possible, may be the secret to surviving today's rather pessimistic world. Other works discussed: “EU / Others” (2000) tinyurl.com/hrxv6rf “Basics” (2001) tinyurl.com/zpycv3y “1395 Days Without Red” (2011) tinyurl.com/h3godqo (film excerpt) “June is June Everywhere” (2013) tinyurl.com/hdp766h *********************************************** Release date: March 15th 2020 Runtime: 74m Recorded: Dublin & Sarajevo
As 2019 is nearing its close, it's easy to look back over all the things we “didn't” get to, or “didn't” accomplish. What I've realized over the last 12 months is that so many of us live from a place of constant doing, and still somehow we feel like we didn't get it all done. In this week's Focus Friday, I am inviting you to look closer at the dream that's in your heart, and focus in on what it's actually asking you to do, and most importantly, how it's asking you to be. 2020 is the year of breaking long-held patterns that are holding us back from living our lives and experiencing ourselves to the fullest capacity- and in this episode, I am sharing one way in which I have found to do just that. After eight years of finding success as an entrepreneur, things took a turn for Mary Cravets in 2018. For the first time, her income went down. The amount wasn’t staggering, but Mary found it shocking to be so far along and still hit this hurdle. Mary shares her experience, as well as the lessons learned and lots more actionable advice during her return visit to Today’s Business Leaders. The Value of Momentum Mary was convinced she had to invest in a specific strategy to grow her business. She never had time to implement this plan, so she hired someone to help, and the end result was a complete disaster. The strategy didn’t work, and while Mary was able to recoup some of her investment, her momentum took a major hit. “There was all of this loss of momentum because I was not doing the things that did work and that had worked,” explains Mary. Trusting Your Instincts Mary now understands that the warning signs were there when she embarked on her unsuccessful endeavor, but she didn't pay attention. “When you hire someone, if you’ve got a part of you that is going, ‘this doesn’t feel quite right,’ you need to listen to that. There are a lot of experts out there, so pick one that is totally aligned,” advises Mary. Using the Right Language Mary and Gabe discuss the importance of doing things your own way but using foundational knowledge to implement a strategy. It’s important to be yourself, but in order to connect with your clients and help them, you need to communicate in a way they understand. These days, Mary credits empathy with making her a better entrepreneur. Learn All the Answers Reach out to Mary on email, Facebook and Twitter or visit her site. Hey Weight Loss Nation! www.TheWeightLossNation.com Delicious Blueberry Popsicles Prep Time – 5 minutes Ingredients 2 Cups of Fresh Blueberries ¾ Cup of either a. Chobani Non-Fat Plain Yogurt or So Delicious Coconut Milk Unsweetened Vanilla Yogurt Alter ½ Cup of Almond Butter ( I use Artisana Raw Organic Almond Butter) Go to www.ArtisanaOrganics.com 1 teaspoon of Vanilla (REAL Vanilla has no alcohol in it.) Vanilla EXTRACT does contain Alcohol as a preservative. The most sought after type of REAL Vanilla is Madagascar Vanilla. As the name suggests….the Vanilla beans or pure extract come from the island of Madagascar. Madagascar is about 266miles off the East Coast of South Africa….or directly East of the country of Mozambique. Madagascar Vanilla is expensive. For a 2 oz. bottle on the Amoretti.com website, you will pay about $11.99. By Comparison…..Vanilla Extract…which does contain alcohol, can be bought at your local supermarket. I priced a 2 oz bottle of “McCormick’s” Vanilla Extract at Walmart for $8.12. Buy whichever type of Vanilla floats your boat. There isn’t a tremendous difference in taste. One has alcohol in it…..the other doesn’t. Where do you BUY the Popsicle Molds? On Amazon of course! I like the “Mamasicles” brand. They cost $7.99 at the time this episode was recorded and have “ 6 Popsicle Molds.” Go to goo.gl/UyoDyN to find the “Mamasicles.” Ok….Let’s make some Healthy, Delicious Popsicles! EASY Peasy Instructions: Blend the Blueberries, Yogurt, Almond Butter and Vanilla in a blender until Smooth. Pour the mixture into your Popsicle Mold. Insert the sticks into each mold Freeze until solid When You’re ready for a Delicious, Healthy Snack……Pop out a Blueberry Popsicle and Enjoy! Nutritional Value Each Popsicle has: 112 Calories 10g Fat 8.5g Protein 2g Fiber 1.5g Sugar 6 g Carbs 14g Sodium 53g Potassium 45% of the Daily Allowance of B 12 40% Daily Allowance of Vit D 12% Daily Allowance of Iron 91% of Daily Allowance of Calcium PLUS…..Blueberries are the King of Anti-Oxidants! I’ve stated several times on this show…….dark colored fruits and vegetables get their color due to the Flavonoid called “Anthocyanin” Flavonoids provide the powerful anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory properties and ……they produce the vibrant, dark color in foods. That means that Blueberries…..are part of our “Pac Man” Family! No surprise there Nation! Flavonoids like….”Flavonois” and “Flavan-3-ols” are highly effective in “searching, Fighting and help in Destroying Free Radical Cells” in your body, that cause cancers. Exclusive Download: Trial Converter Campaign™ – Design You Messaging Protocols And Double Your Trial Conversions Within 3 Months -- Nothing makes me facepalm harder than getting an email from a SaaS company with a subject line that says… “Dan, your free trial is about to expire” *grabs an ice pack for my aching forehead* If you’re using email marketing as a notification tool (and not as a 24/7 salesperson who doesn’t take holidays or call in sick after a Black Mirror binge fest)… … then you’re missing a huge opportunity to convert more trial users. Worse… you’re asking your trial users to invest attention, while offering absolutely no value in return. Not cool. On the flipside, email automation can be the most effective and leveraged way to fix a lagging trial to paid rate. If you’re not converting at least 10% of trial users, chances are you’re NOT sending the right emails — in the right order. I shot this week’s episode to fix that. Give it a watch to see the seven types of emails you absolutely NEED to be firing into your automation software to close more trial users. In the episode, I go deep into the specific details of how to nail each one, but at a high level, the seven emails you’ll be sending are: Welcome Email Training Case Study Tips and Tricks Offer to Help Make an Offer Celebrate or Learn All of them are supercritical, and it’s hard to imagine a brag-worthy trial conversion rate unless you implement the whole stack… But if I were to single one out, I urge you to make sure that you’re making an offer. “Your trial is about to expire” is not a selling proposition that compels people to act… … and if you’re using lazy “default-type” emails in your onboarding sequence, you’re gonna get “default-type” conversion numbers. Give this video a watch to give your automated emails a massive upgrade, and then let me know in the comments if you’ve tested another type of email in your onboarding process that has proven successful. Today’s guest is Cathy Demers. Cathy started her career at IBM and Microsoft before developing a startup with her business partner. With a $10,000 investment, they built up their business and eventually went public for $20 million. Today she’s going to share with us the challenges she encountered along the way. In This Episode You’ll Learn: All about the day that Cathy decided to become an entrepreneur, what her business idea was, and how she and her business partner went about gathering up the money needed for them to get started. How Cathy got into using recurring software before it was popular. Why the partnership needed investors and what type they were looking for, as well as why they chose the angel investor that they did. Cathy’s thoughts about the negotiation process. How the growth process went once the company went public, as well as some of the stressors that Cathy didn’t anticipate. Some of the key things that had to be done to prepare for the IPO. What the process was like, Cathy’s emotions, and how her day-to-day role changed. The decision to exit: how Cathy and her partner knew it was the right move. What Cathy did after she exited the company. Takeaways: Start with the end in mind. If you have an IPO goal, you need to start working now to make your company valuable. He who has the money wins. Money and influence will dictate the outcome of your sale. Every business is a game. Being an entrepreneur means playing strategically and knowing what a win entails. Today's Guest: me, Nina Modak :D WEBSITE: right here, you're in the right place ;) TWITTER: @eatallergysafe Today’s podcast episode I mixed up a little. I decided, at the last minute, to do a Facebook live episode. I wanted to talk about how to tell other people about your allergies. I walk you through my 5 step method to stop being embarrassed and keep yourself or your allergic child safe. What You'll Learn: All about my 5 Step Method: Step 1: Be Bold! Feeling like you are inconveniencing another person can make us feel embarrassed. Asking another person, especially if you don’t know them very well to take steps outside of their usual routine in order to cater for you can make us feel nervous. But when it comes to your allergy, you need to set this aside and be bold, even if you don’t feel it. You are your own allergy advocate. Be bold, step outside of your usual comfort zone and don’t think about what other people might think about you. I remind myself that that no person’s feelings are as important as your life. Step 2: Be Calm, Be Factual, Be Honest Being calm is a lot easier said than done. Believe me, I know, I’ve been there! But even though it is a challenge to keep calm when someone is spouting nonsense about what they think they know about allergies, it is still essential. Why is it essential? Because when you are emotional at another person, they will become resistant to being open to understanding your position. Think about it like this, if someone is flapping their arms in your face and getting more and more erratic, what do you want to do? You want to get away from them. You aren’t willing to listen. Through their erratic and emotional behaviour they elicited a resistance in you. My goal when explaining about my allergy is to get other people to listen and follow my instructions to the letter so that my life is not put at risk. In order to give myself the best chance of success, I don’t want to alienate people before I’ve even started explaining. When I do explain, I am factual and honest. There is no point playing it down, in the worst case it could be a life and death matter, so I need make others aware of this fact so that they take it seriously. People need to understand WHY they need to take precautions. When I explain it calmly, factually and honestly people usually listen to my “why” more carefully and will take the appropriate precautions. Step 3: Show People How Easy It Is Once I have given people the facts, I need to lead by example. I need to continue to be vigilant in asking questions and checking ingredients, but I also show them that I don’t worry about missing out. I show them that maybe I can’t have one food, but I can have an alternative. One of the best things about allergies is that you know what makes you sick. That means you know what to avoid! That’s what makes it easy to manage! Step 4: Be Approachable Like you may have felt a bit embarrassed to tell others about your allergy, carers/friends/family/etc may feel embarrassed to keep asking about what might or might not be safe. I make sure that those people I’m trying to educate know that they can ask me as many times as they need to about what may or may not be safe. After all they may be terrified about sending me into hospital. Other people asking questions is great because it means they are being educated and more importantly wanting to be educated. Step 5: You Can Say “NO” Sometimes, even when I’ve gone through all the the above steps, there are some people I just don’t trust believe me or understand what I’m saying. You will probably know what I’m talking about, that allergy 6th sense. Trust this instinct. It will most likely be right. There is no point taking unnecessary risks with your life. I always remember that I can say “no” to any food I don’t...

One of Europe's foremost visual artists joins the pod to share her life journey. Born and raised in Sarajevo, art has been a central part of Šejla's life since childhood. An introvert, she used her work to communicate and share the loss, horror, sadness and personal tragedy of the war, as Yugoslavia fractured and split around her. Often controversial, we discuss the motivation behind many of her works including the famous “Bosnian Girl” (2003) http://tinyurl.com/z2wna33 and the ambitious “From One, Learn All” (2015) http://tinyurl.com/jbotsgs – a forensically-driven memorial to Bosnia's wartime lost and missing. We also discuss the importance of struggle in the creative process; the role of art in changing behavior and attitudes; and why looking at life in the simplest terms possible, may be the secret to surviving today's rather pessimistic world. Other works discussed: “EU / Others” (2000) http://tinyurl.com/hrxv6rf “Basics” (2001) http://tinyurl.com/zpycv3y “1395 Days Without Red” (2011) http://tinyurl.com/h3godqo (film excerpt) “June is June Everywhere” (2013) http://tinyurl.com/hdp766h Release date: October 10th 2016 Runtime: 40m Recorded: Sarajevo
Today’s Guest After two and a half years of interviews and solo shows on this podcast, I'm super excited to introduce a new format. You may know Jo Casey from previous episodes: I interviewed her for episodes 21 and 121 (no, we didn't plan the numbering there...but I like it!), and Jo interviewed me for episodes 31 and 115. Plus, I've been on her podcast twice, first talking about social media http://www.jocasey.com/hollyworton/ and later talking about coaching http://www.jocasey.com/whp-27-combine-coaching-expertise/. So you can see that we have loads to talk about! I wanted to partner up with someone this year to do some co-hosted episodes, and we decided we'd make a great match. The idea is to have a conversation (much like my regular episodes) around a single topic each time. We started out experimenting with this new format for episode 132 and got great feedback, so we're giving it another go. Today, we talk about how to get a book out of your head and onto Amazon. In this episode, Jo interviews Holly about the process of writing and self publishing a book. You’ll learn a step by step process for making this happen and you can even download a PDF with all the details. I'd love to hear what you think of this new format! Please comment and let me know. Also, we've got a whole list of topics that we want to discuss on this show, but please drop us a note in the comments and let us know what you'd like to hear us talking about. Thanks! About Jo Casey Jo Casey is a certified life coach, trainer and coach mentor. She’s British, slightly nerdy and allergic to the marketing bullsh*t in the coaching industry. Founder of jocasey.com, podcaster, speaker, and writer for Coaching Blueprint, Mind Body Green and Tiny Buddha. Things that make me scream with glee: Freshly washed bed linen, watching my husband get all 'handy' around the place (DIY I mean), yellow wedge sandals, fabric stores, the sound of my kids giggling, Jesus Christ Superstar the musical. Spirit Animal: Lesley Knope Why you should listen to me about coaching: I've been training, coaching and mentoring coaches for 14 years and I built my own coaching and training business after a lot of initial trial and error. I've been where you are now and I love showing coaches like you how to pull out all of the things that will make your business stand out and attract the right clients to you, without wasting a lot of time on useless and expensive shiny objects. Listen to this episode What You’ll Learn All the steps in the process of getting a book out of your head and onto Amazon: step by step How to write a book even if you can’t bear the thought of sitting at your computer for long enough to get it done Dos and Don’ts of book cover design, including tips that can make or break your book How to print a paperback without ending up with a garage full of books What order you need to do everything in, and which steps overlap in the process People and Things We Discussed Blinkist ACX.com It would make me so happy if you could take a minute and share this with other women entrepreneurs on Twitter.
