It is the birthstone for August. This bright green gemstone promotes personal growth and supports energetic healing. It helps to restore balance among your body, mind, and spirit so that you feel more happiness and harmony in your life. Peridot helps to support you as you determine what's most meaningful to you and what truly feels important in your life. It reveals any things that have been consuming your energy and mental bandwidth that are actually trivial or unimportant so that you can create space for more bliss and joy.   Peridot Lore: The lore of peridot has remained remarkably consistent through time. Thom and Alan have conducted many expeditions from this vessel. Lost city hydrothermal field - An area of hydrothermal vents on the Atlantis Massif, in the Atlantic Ocean. Magnetite - Magnetite is a mineral and one of the main iron ores. Moho - Mohorovicic Discontinuity, or "Moho," is the boundary between the crust and the mantle. Narcomedusae - A type of hydrozoan (a gelatinous cnidarian similar to jellyfish). NIWA - (National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research) based in Auckland, New Zealand. Olivine - The primary component of the Earth's upper mantle, it is a common mineral in Earth's subsurface, but weathers quickly on the surface. Peridotite - is a dense, coarse-grained igneous rock consisting mostly of the silicate minerals olivine and pyroxene. Most of the mantle is made up of this rock. Petrology - The branch of geology which explores the compositions, structures and origins of rocks. Serpentine - Hydrated version of Olivine. Serpentine is a group of minerals that are usually green in colour. Serpentinisation - The process of minerals such as olivine becoming serpentine. ⭐ My guest today is Adam Wolf, Founder and CEO of Eion. Eion is an enhanced rock weathering startup that works with farmers and ranchers to safely and permanently pull carbon out of the air. They use rock called olivine, which is the most abundant on Earth, and by 2026, they will be on track to permanently remove 500,000 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere every year.  Their growth got extra support with a $12M Series A from investors such as AgFunder, Trailhead Capital, and Orion Corporation. In addition, Adam is the former: Founder, CEO, and Chief Scientist at Arable Lands Associate Research Scholar at Princeton University Oh, and he's also got a PhD from Stanford University and is learning how to build a studio in his backyard using traditional building techniques. Sure, we need to stop emitting greenhouse gases. But even if we stopped all emissions today, there are so many that we've already put into the atmosphere that we need to remove them. Some folks are trying to build massive machines to suck C02 from the air, but Kelly Erhart has a different idea: just accelerate the earth's natural geochemical processes to remove that same C02 and safely deposit it in solid form at the bottom of our oceans. How to do it: Turns that when water touches this volcanic rock called olivine, the rock naturally removes C02 from the air. This process takes eons normally, but if you grind the olivine rock into a fine sand and spread it out over beaches, you can greatly accelerate the carbon-capturing capacity of the rock, while also protecting coastal communities.  Sounds like a noble idea, and when you combine it with the capacity to sell carbon credits, it sounds like a profitable idea, too. That's why Kelly Erhart founded Vesta in 2019. Her company's raised $6 million in equity so far (along with an additional $6 million in philanthropic dollars) and is now poised to raise a much larger Series A round so they can get into the olivine sand spreading business.  They're already conducting pilot programs in the Caribbean and say they'll soon be ready for much bigger footprint—or sandprint—projects that will make a tangible dent in the climate crisis. Tom Green is the leader of Vesta, an organization that is planning to grind olivine down to sand-size, then sprinkle it in the oceans just off the beaches, where water is not deep. The waves will roll the grains of olivine around and hasten its dissolution into the water. This will change the (now excessive) carbonic acid bicarbonate, an alkali. By doing this on a large scale, the overall acidity of the oceans will be slightly reduced, allowing the water to accept more CO2 from the atmosphere. The GridSavvy Community program was created by Sonoma Clean Power (SCP), the community choice aggregator (CCA) for California's Sonoma and Mendocino counties. This innovative program moves away from traditional siloed approaches that segregate participation by customer classes and/or technology and instead offers a range of customer options to increase DER technology adoption.GridSavvy Community customers receive attractive incentives for purchasing and enrolling smart devices such as thermostats, EV chargers, and heat pump water heaters. The program focuses on engaging low-income and equity customers, offering these customers higher incentives and financing to ease first-cost barriers to DER technology adoption.Together with its partner Olivine, SCP aggregates these devices and dispatches them to help shape and shift Sonoma Clean Power's customer load, reducing the utilities' need to buy pricier and dirtier power during periods of peak load. Interview with Simon C. Dyakowski, President and CEO of GSP Resource Corp. (TSX-V:GSPR)This is a classic example of an exploration play for investors. It reveals the extremely high level of risk, the many difficulties management teams face, and the possibility of big returns.GSP Resources Corp. is a metals explorer, based in the "not top 10, but tier-1" mining jurisdiction of British Columbia, Canada. The company was focussing on its copper project, the iron, palladium and magnesium 'rich' Olivine Mountain Project, but it has since farmed it out, and optioned a past-producing copper mine, the Alwin Mine Project.The Alwin Mine Project lies in the shadow of the vast Highland Valley Copper project, which produced 101,000t of copper in 2018. The focus moving forward is Alwin Mine. However, with capital at such a premium right now, and with GSP Resource Corp. only holding C$300,000, it remains to be seen how the company can finance Alwin without needing to raise capital soon. Pre-COVID-19, Dyakowski saw June/July as a potential start date for drilling at Alwin Mine, but market conditions have obviously rendered any copper exploration untenable for the time being.After drilling at Olivine Mountain, GSP Resource Corp. clearly didn't get the results it wanted, or the results necessary to excite the market. Dyakowski explains what happened. It's not unusual in exploration, and a pivot in the business model is often the resolution to such difficulties. The company has farmed out Olivine Mountain to Full Metal Minerals in a 40:60 venture, should the company spend C$250,000 on the property, pay GSP C$250,000, and issue some shares. Does this modest option mean the problem is solved? Dyakowski is hoping the "well-financed" Full Metal Minerals can apply its expertise to bring potential to the surface, with a focus on palladium anomalies. Palladium is hot right now, so could this be helpful for GSP Resource Corp's financing efforts?New focus, Alwin Mine is a copper project that is more advanced in that it has produced within the last century, with an underground mine constructed in the 1960s leading to 3-years of production. The project was shut down and then reopened in the early 1980s, then shut down, reopened and shut down again in the 1990s. Can modern technologies and favourable copper prices help buck this disappointing trend? The historical data should certainly help, but how will GSP Resource Corp. finance it? The C$300,000 isn't a lot, but Dyakowski thinks that it is sufficient relative to the size of GSP Resource Corp. The cost of core drilling is around C$175 p/m, which would likely necessitate a small equity raise. The share structure is reasonable, will only 12M outstanding, so a raise could be feasible, even if the timing is far from ideal. Dyakwoski calls Alwin Mine low-risk and low-cost, but we heard this about Olivine Mountain. He insists that scout drilling was always going to carry more risk, but was this 100% clear to investors at the time? In hindsight, Dyakowski maintains he made the right decision to go for the bullseye with Olivine rather than farming it out straight away.What is the long term vision for creating value with Alwin Mine? Dyakowski hopes the Summer phase 1 drill program will deliver favorable results and solidify the copper potential of the resource. After this point, it comes down to the team managing finances effectively, favourable copper prices, and how well GSP Resource Corp. can position itself for a takeout. Is GSP Resource Corp. a buzzing fly in the face of surrounding majors, or can Alwin Mine provide copper investors will more growth than they might realise?
