The Snuts are a fascinating band to me. Forming in 2015 the band have released 3 albums so far: ‘W.L.', ‘Burn The Empire' and ‘Millennials'.Now when it comes to these three records, none of them stick to the same genre. Their debut attempt ‘W.L.' is what I would consider generic indie. I don't mean this is a negative way at all, but hits like ‘Glasgow' and ‘Always' are your classic indie, sing along, festival anthems. Alongside your slower tracks ‘Top Deck' and my personal favourite ‘No Place I'd Rather Go', this is a fun, easy listen which put the band on the map.Their follow-up album in 2022 ‘Burn The Empire' is a heavier, more in your face record aimed at calling out the system, or rather ‘Burn The Empire'. The title track sets the tone of the attitude of this album alongside ‘The Rodeo'. Although you still see a softer side in ‘End of the Road (Feat. Rachel Chinouriri', the album was a drastic move away from the fun singalong ‘W.L' and is, in my opinion, their weakest album so far.We then move on to ‘Millennials' which was released just under a year ago in 2024. This again was a complete change in the bands sound, going for a more upbeat indie-pop sound filled drum machines and jangly sounding guitars. This was more of a return to the initial familiar sound of The Snuts, with songs ‘Gloria' and ‘Millionaires' being fan favourites, and live set staples. If I were to rank these albums, it would be ‘W.L.', ‘Millennials' and ‘Burn The Empire', and it seems like this is universally mirrored by fans with their debut hitting UK Number 1 in the album charts, ‘Millennials' hitting UK Number 2 and ‘Burn The Empire' hitting UK Number 3.So what next for The Snuts? You can find The Snuts here - https://open.spotify.com/artist/4AzAfQNuAyKOFG4DZMsdAo?si=2kEt_9wyR0OmAeHT7BHDog

I’m tired to be polite when i rather smack - ok,ok supressed anger got me into rap? well it might and donuts got me into jazz I’m the mother of chaos ey its nice to shake your hand.

As broadcast October 16, 2023 for the first Monday in a while while! Tonight in our first New Muses Monday in quite some time, there were a lot of albums dropping from space and huge announcements as well. The foremost in our first hour being the second career solo album from Alabama Shakes vocalist Brittany Howard, who dropped the title track to the What Now LP, slated for release next year. First hour we had new albums to talk about from L'Rain, Helena Deland, Jamila Woods, and veteran Japanese band Lamp. Once we hit part three, the big bomb to drop is the latest LP from Bad Bunny, and we also had Pink Pantheress dropping a solo album in just a few weeks' time. Great stuff from the Korean indie and bubbling under K-pop scene as well in part 4, with ADOY heading to SXSW Sydney next month along with tunes from Summer Soul and Chamsom to check out, amongst others. After a glorious two weeks of being together, the boys are back to trying to record remotely. The magic lives on in our hearts and in your minds, don't let that spirit die. Max drove back from the Poconos and is both sick and tired. Let's slog, baby! Some light casino talk, bring in the big bucks, baby! Michael got a happy light and he's now... happy- you can hear it in his voice this week. Michael sings songs and he sounds wonderful, doesn't he? Tough talk at the table. Look, I'm gonna create a second paragraph to talk about this next part because it is truthfully, next level crazy. Michael has found another celebrity to glean life lessons from and honestly, it's pretty twisted. When you think of role models, who do you think of? Surely, Robert Dyrdek doesn't skate across your brain as an answer to that question... right? Wrong! Welcome to Michael's Inspiration House- where you too can be inspired by Rob Dyrdek (of Rob & Big fame). We're talking BUSINESS, baby, maybe you should see how Rob (of Ridiculousness fame) handles his business. Michael breaks down how Rob (of Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory) is his new goalpost for success."It's alpha to make a service call"Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/intheminivanFollow us on instagram: @intheminivanpodFollow us on twitter: @intheminivanFollow us on TikTok: @intheminivanpodcastWe're on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTxCtwpkBssIljyG6tdJbWQGet in the Discord: https://discord.gg/YWgaD6xFN3Episode Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3cJ7WK0cNNqVgzCV1QNyvX?si=7a170296879f463eTHE MASTER PLAYLIST: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2saxemA3MOXcjIWdwHGwCZ?si=ee3444c085714c46Support the show
We're in the last days of 2022 AD and as such it's time for us to talk about our favourite songs of the year! It's been yet another amazing year for music and each of us could easily have submitted a top 30 on our own rather than keeping it to 10 each, but that would have taken even longer for Colin to edit so thankfully we kept it to 10...We've each chosen our 10 favourite songs of the year and sent them over to Colin's wife Helen, who put the playlists together and distributed them so we were each given a playlist of the 20 songs from the other two hosts, along with our own 10. We then ranked the playlists in order of preference and sent them back to Helen, who totalled up the points and worked out the order. She also joined us on the episode to read out the countdown, which we found out as we recorded so all reactions are genuine. Now, admittedly, in parts we're a little bit brutal to some of the songs in the list as we're three separate people with differing music tastes, but please remember that to be in this episode at all the songs have to have been in one of our top 10's of that year. Bands featured in this episode include (In alphabetical order, no spoilers here!) - Arctic Monkeys, The Asteroid No. 4, Astrel K, Author & Punisher, Andrew Bird Ft. The VOCAL GIRLS podcast is the series where music journalist and VOCAL GIRLS Founder, Megan Graye, chats to artists about their past, present and future, and the music that intertwines these experiences. This series is a collaboration with The Great Escape Festival, so for this series Megan will be interviewing four key artists from their line-up. This week, Megan's speaking to singer-songwriter, Rachel Chinouriri. After recording some songs on a budget mic and her mum's laptop aged 17, Rachel released her first ep ‘bedroom tales' on Soundcloud. Since then she's signed a record deal with Parlophone, had her music shared by her personal idols Coldplay, and most recently bagged a Hottest Record on Clara Amfo's show on R1 with her latest single, ‘All I ever asked'. Rachel's sound is delicate, soothing and layered. Her lyrics touch on relationship struggles and personal darkness, but her vocals feel bright and sincere. Her acoustic version of her song ‘So my darling' has been streamed almost 10 million times.Megan and Rachel chatted a few weeks back about her stage fright, why she decided to speak out against unconscious bias in the industry and what we can expect from incoming new music. Rachel and I met at The Great Escape Festival, Brighton, in May 2019. I was shooting for Femme Magazine, a Brighton based publication, where I was assigned to shoot some portraits of Rachel for a feature. We were greeted by the warmest, most kind natured girl, who was a joy to take imagery of. Rachel and I stayed in contact after the shoot, funnily enough we went to school in the same small town and have a few friends in common. This episode was an absolute delight to record, I had so much fun chatting with Rachel about her work as an artist and how she feels working in the industry. We talk about how she got to where she is today, meeting her management, signing her publishing deal and also how she portrays herself online. In this episode we also delve into Rachel's brain about her creative style and how she began her career as a musician.
