The show focuses around the relationship of an old Donut shop owner and his new young employee. Judd Hirsch and Jermaine Fowler were selected to play the lead roles and with ringers like David Koechner and Katey Sagal joining in supporting roles this show seemingly had a the tools it needed to succeed. But Superior Donuts was cancelled by it's network after only two seasons. Did CBS not do enough to promote the show or did the all-star cast fail to deliver? His Grandfather was in the original Our Gang comedies... This week, host Gray Jones interviews comedy writer and Script Anatomy instructor Aaron Vaccaro. Aaron Vaccaro bio: He grew up in the San Fernando Valley (the non-porny part) and was always enamored by the entertainment industry, inspired by his grandfather, who starred in the original "Our Gang" comedies. After graduating from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Film Studies, Aaron set out to become a television writer. He scored several Writers' Assistant stints – on "24," "Ghost Whisperer," "The New Adventures of Old Christine," "Wilfred," and "Mike & Molly." After being chosen as one of the NBC's Writers on the Verge, Aaron has gone on to write for "Mike & Molly" and "Superior Donuts," both on CBS, "Team Kaylie" on Netflix, and most recently "Drama Club" on Nickelodeon. He has developed projects with Netflix, Disney, Universal Cable Productions, Viola Davis' production company, and once sold a feature entitled "Sasquatch vs. The Abominable Snowman," which is every bit as insane as it sounds. Aaron now has an M.F.A. in Screenwriting and has taught screenwriting courses at AFI, UCSB, CSUN, LA Valley College and now Script Anatomy. It's Groundhog Day on #TheShowKC! Will Phil the Groundhog see his shadow? We got the answer pretty early on The Show that, yes, there will be six more weeks of winter. Boo. By the way, East Coasters are so bad they even booed the groundhog. Sad! An impossible question about New Year's resolutions. Beyonce is pregnant, which is awesome, but her picture that accompanied the announcement was downright weird! Lyle Randal from Wichita won tickets to the Super Bowl - for life! - just for finding a golden can of Bud Light in a beer case! We talk to Lyle about his trip to Houston. Jen has found some amazing free stuff on Craiglist and we look through some of them. We play our favorite - the Accent Game - for tickets to see John Mayer and once again things get out of hand with the helium. The actor/comedian Dave Koechner called in to talk about his new sitcom, Superior Donuts, airing tonight on CBS. He also chatted us up about the Chiefs, his family and the Big Slick charity event in KC this summer. Finally, we get a round of trick or trending. Big giveaway announcement Friday at 7:10am. See you there!
