If you read the Bible from cover to cover, you will come away with the knowledge that God is great. There is no limit to His power. There is no end to His creativity. He is a miracle-working God.Main Points:1. As much as we would like to, we cannot fully understand the greatness of God. We are finite, but He is infinite. 2. Over the centuries, Bible scholars have done their best to describe and articulate the greatness of God, but when it comes to God words will always fail us. The language of humans is incapable of accurately describing the greatness of God. 3. He is the one true God. He has no beginning and no end. He created all things and all things exist by his divine power. He has no peers. No one gives God advice. No one can fully understand him.  God is perfectly holy. “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” (Hebrews 4:16 NLT) One of the most jaw-dropping passages in all of Scripture is found in Hebrews 4:16: “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most” (NLT). If you’ve spent any time in the book of Revelation, you know that God’s throne is a place of holiness and magnificence. The idea of being able to approach it boldly is hard for a lot of less-than-perfect people to wrap their heads around. Our enemy, the devil, is aware of that. He uses our struggles with “imposter syndrome” to his advantage. He tries to put distance between us and our heavenly Father by making us feel unworthy to approach Him. He wants to rob us of the boldness that the author of Hebrews talked about. Those who already struggle with feelings of unworthiness are easy marks for him. So, how do we overcome the devil and his tactics? In the book of Revelation, we are introduced to a group of believers who are able to do just that: “And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die” (Revelation 12:11 NLT). They have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb. The next time the devil tempts you to think that you’re not worthy to approach God, here’s what I advise: Agree with him wholeheartedly. Say, “You’re right. I’m not worthy to approach God. I never was worthy to approach God. I never will be worthy to approach God. My access to God’s presence is not based on my worthiness; it is based on what Christ did for me on the cross. He is worthy—and because of Him I am accepted and can come boldly to God.” Sometimes we get into the mentality as Christians that if we are doing well spiritually, then we can approach God in prayer. If, say, we get up in the morning, read four chapters from the Bible, give thanks for our meals, and share our faith with someone, then we think we can approach God. But if the next day we sleep in and don’t read the Bible, if we forget to say grace over our meals and don’t share our faith, then we think we’re not worthy to approach Him. But that’s not the case. Those things are certainly important. But your access to God is based on Christ, not on your spiritual performance. If you’ve done well, then great. Approach God. But if you’ve sinned, then approach God and say, “Lord, I have sinned. This is why I need the blood of the Lamb.” The devil will always try to keep you away from the cross. But the Holy Spirit will always bring you to it. Reflection question: What might make you feel unworthy to approach God? What does it look like to invest your life in the Kingdom of God? We examine Paul's statement that “in my flesh nothing good dwells,” the importance of the Holy Spirit in the believer's life, and Samson as an example of the difference between being strengthened by the Spirit and attempting to operate in our own strength. Aftertalking about the glorious return of Jesus Christ, Paul brings everything backto the way we should live today. That's an important principle. Bibleprophecy isn't given merely to satisfy our curiosity about the future. What webelieve about tomorrow should affect the way we live today. Paul says: “Whereforealso we pray always for you.” Once again we see how important prayerwas in Paul's ministry. Paul couldn't be physically present with theThessalonians. He couldn't remove their persecution. He couldn't solve everyproblem they faced. But he could pray for them. Neverunderestimate what God can do through your prayers for another person. Thennotice what Paul prayed: “That our God would count you worthy of thiscalling.” Paul isn't saying we somehow earn salvation by becomingworthy. Salvation is entirely by grace. Rather, because God has called andsaved us, Paul prays that our lives will become consistent with that calling. Inother words: Live like who you are. If we belong to Jesus Christ, ourlives should increasingly reflect Him. Paulwrote something similar in Ephesians 4:1: “Walk worthy of the vocationwherewith you are called.” That raises a good question for each of us today. Doesthe way I live reflect the Christ I say I believe in? Does my attitude reflectChrist? Do my words reflect Christ? Does the way I treat my family reflectChrist? Does the way I respond when someone mistreats me reflect Christ? Paulthen prays that God would: “Fulfil all the good pleasure of His goodness,and the work of faith with power.” I especially like that phrase: “Thework of faith with power.” Remember what Paul wrote back in 1Thessalonians 1:3? He spoke about their “work of faith.” True faith producesaction. We aren't saved by good works. But when we are genuinely saved, ourfaith should produce good works. Ephesians 2:8–9 tells us clearly that we aresaved by grace through faith, “not of works.” But the very next verse says: “Forwe are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works.” Goddidn't save us simply so we could go to heaven someday. He saved us so He couldwork in us and through us today. And notice where the power comes from. Paulprays for the work of faith “with power.” We cannot live theChristian life successfully in our own strength. We need God's power. We needthe Holy Spirit working in us. And then Paul gives us the ultimate purpose ofit all in verse 12: “That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may beglorified in you.” There it is. Thatis the goal of the Christian life. That Jesus might be glorified in us. Notthat people would notice us. Not that people would praise us. Not that we wouldbuild a reputation for ourselves. But that when people look at our lives,somehow they would see something of Jesus. John the Baptist expressed itbeautifully when he said: “He must increase, but I must decrease.” Maybethat would be a good prayer for us today: “Lord,let Jesus be seen in me.” Let Him be seen in my words. Let Him be seen in myattitude. Let Him be seen in the way I treat people. Let Him be seen in how Ihandle difficulties. Let Him be seen in my home. Let Him be seen in everythingI do. And Paul closes by reminding us that even this is possible only: “Accordingto the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” We begin withgrace. We continue by grace. And one day we will stand in His presence becauseof grace. So until Jesus comes, may we live lives worthy of His calling andseek one great purpose: That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ might beglorified in us. Let'spray. That fund was created in 1991 to provide capital, or "gap financing," to more risky projects in the state that can't get access to more traditional financing. An audit of the fund found woeful documentation for things like performance, investments, and conflicts of interest. On this Plain Talk, Senate Majority Leader David Hogue, who monitored the committee meeting as a member of Legislative Management, said he questions whether the fund ought to continue to exist. "I think the deliberation in the upcoming session is: is that still a worthy objective for the state to be pursuing, that sort of risky gap financing that, admittedly, North Dakota Development Fund is supposed to be pursuing?" He said that the Legislature is ready to "wield the power of the purse" over the program "if there aren't some what we see as necessary changes." Hogue also discussed Measure 1. That proposed constitutional measure, put on the November ballot by lawmakers, would require that future amendments get at least 60% of the vote. That debate may end up being the most expensive race in North Dakota of the 2026 campaign season. Gov. Kelly Armstrong is backing a "yes" vote on the measure. Opposing it is a D.C.-based group called the Fairness Project. Already roughly $1 million has been spent on television advertising for and against the measure, with weeks left to go in campaign season. "Our constitution is the place where we house our core fundamental values like freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and those values should not be altered by a simple majority," Hogue said of the measure. What does it take to succeed spiritually?
