When the navigation app suggested a route that would cut almost an hour off their drive from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, Shelby Easler and her brother followed the alternate directions. However, the “short cut” led them along a dirt path for hours that left them stranded in California’s Mojave Desert during a dust storm. They were able to reverse course, but they eventually had to be towed because of all the damage to their car from the rough terrain. The app developer apologized to the numerous travelers who followed those wrong directions. It's important who we rely on for guidance. As believers in Jesus, we’ve been given the Holy Spirt to lead and direct us in matters of truth. When Jesus knew that He’d soon die and be taken from His disciples, He assured them He wouldn’t leave them stranded. He urged His disciples to obey His commands and spoke of the promised Holy Spirit, or the Spirit of truth, who would be with them forever and live inside of them (John 14:15-17). “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you” (v. 26). Let’s continue to follow the Holy Spirit’s prompting as we go throughout our day. We know He’ll never lead us astray.
This week we're joined by special guest Fr. Nathan Symeon. Fr. Nathan and Fr. Michael talk about listening to the Holy Spirit and others. They also talk about their experience as participants in a review of the final document from the synod on synodality.References:Integrated Evangelization by Monsignor RichterSobornost by Catherine DohertySave the Date for the Bridegroom's Banquet!Follow and Contact Us!Follow us on Instagram and FacebookWe're on YouTube!Join our Goodreads GroupFr. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Change requires work. Change of appetites, change of habits. Changing the things we turn to instead of turning from. It's going to take some work, and that's going to take some time. You might be sick and tired of your way of doing things. Maybe you're just exhausted with yourself. If so, Peter tells us right here that getting rid of the things you want to change isn't going to be enough. If we just remove it, when the troubles come, when we're stressed out, we're going to go right back to where we've been and do the things we've done before. No, simply stopping what you're doing doesn't bring about the change that you want. It's not just stopping, no. It will also require starting—craving something new. The answer is never just to get rid of the old, to sweep the cupboards of all the junk food. No. You've got to change your diet and begin craving something altogether different: the pure spiritual milk of God's Word. It requires a total change of diet. We must replace it and not just remove it. We need to assume a childlike heart and crave the pure spiritual milk of the Word. The Word is Christ. To draw from Christ our nourishment, our comfort, our life. Peter says become like a baby in that regard: totally dependent upon him. Peter says if we do that, we will begin to experience change—real change from the inside out. So let's do that. Let's continue to show up here each and every day to train our souls, to partake of God's food, his milk, his bread, to be dependent upon him for our very breath. It's not just about getting rid of things. It's about him—finding our life in him, learning something new altogether as we come to him, the source of our true nourishment and life. And that's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Almighty and ever loving God, you have brought us to the light of a new morning. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit that we may walk this day in peace. Guard our steps from temptation, Shield us from the weight of fear and shame, and lead us deeper into the joy of your presence through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. O Christ, light of the nations, shine in every place where shadows dwell. Call the scattered home, Heal the wounds of division and gather all people into the communion of your grace. May the knowledge of the Lord cover the earth as the waters cover the sea. Amen. And our Lord, make my hands ready for mercy. Make my eyes quick to see the hurting, my ears open to the cry of the lonely, and my feet swift to bring good news. Let me seek to bless, not to be noticed, to serve, not to be praised, to forgive, not to hold back. For in your way is life, in your mercy is healing, and in your love is the peace this world cannot give. Amen. And now, as our Lord has taught us, we are bold to pray. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation. The most foundational doctrine of Christianity is that Jesus was 100% God and 100% man. He is the son of God and the son of man. He was virgin born, conceived by the Holy Spirit. This does not mean God came down and was sexually intimate with Mary. It means it is a miraculous conception.Main Points:1. The virgin birth reveals the deity of Jesus. If Jesus is not God, then he could not save us. And if Jesus did not save you, you are still lost in your sins.2. Jesus was born as a man because he had to be a man to be our true representative on the cross. He had to be God because He is the only one capable of saving us.3. Do not let anyone tell you the doctrine of the virgin birth of Christ is not an essential belief. It is absolutely essential. The virgin birth of Jesus fulfills the prophecy and promise of God, and it reveals the deity of our Savior.Today's Scripture Verses:John 1:14 - “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”Isaiah 7:14 - “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

natural & regenerative musculoskeletal healing: https://www.georgekramermd.com/Episode Highlights[00:36] Freedom from Addiction and the Fight for the SoulAddiction, anxiety, and spiritual warfare can make people feel trapped and unseen. Many silently battle overwhelming darkness, believing healing is out of reach.Tommy Doyle, International Director of Uncharted Ministries, knows this struggle firsthand.[03:21] Tommy: “We have so many good friends and so many ministry partners over there, that that's just really where our heart was, and we were part of another ministry before that that we loved dearly, so many great people and everything.”Once bound by addiction and anxiety, Tommy now leads missions that bring healing and hope across the Middle East.[05:26] Ministry Work in the Middle EastTommy describes Uncharted Ministries' work across war-torn regions of the Middle East.He recalls visiting the Gaza Strip a month after a major attack, wearing flak jackets and traveling with armed EMTs.Despite the chaos, they shared comfort and reminded hurting communities that they are not forgotten.Through every mission, Tommy emphasizes the power of showing up and bringing the love of Christ.[12:19] Personal Testimony and Early LifeTommy grew up in a large Christian family, deeply involved in church life as a pastor's kid.Despite strong early faith, he experienced rejection and betrayal from peers in church leadership. That emotional wound led him to pull away and seek belonging in sports and party culture. This shift laid the groundwork for his eventual descent into substance use and spiritual drift.[24:23] Struggles with Addiction and Turning PointTommy began justifying casual partying, which escalated into drug dealing and daily alcohol use.A raid by federal agents became a wake-up call, but the pull of addiction remained strong.Panic attacks worsened his condition, and alcohol became his go-to form of self-medication.Despite several attempts to quit, nothing brought lasting freedom—until he cried out to God.[26:42] Egypt Mission Trip and Spiritual AwakeningTommy joined a mission trip to Egypt to support his mother's outreach to Muslim women. While caring for children there, he was struck by a deep conviction to return to a life of purpose. That moment reignited his faith, shifted his focus, and set him on a path of full sobriety. He returned home and committed to healing through a Christ-centered Celebrate Recovery program.[36:11] Supernatural Encounter in EgyptDuring a foot-washing ceremony, Tommy witnessed a woman visibly possessed and delivered through the name of Jesus.[39:47] Tommy: “Every time that something dark and scary would happen, witnessed by other people too, the power of the name of Jesus was enough to eradicate it and, and that's just so life-giving.”Later that night, he and his brother encountered a terrifying demonic presence outside their desert compound.Prayer in Jesus' name broke the oppression, revealing that when the demonic and divine encounter each other, the authority of Christ prevails over darkness. These spiritual battles confirmed the reality of unseen warfare—and the power believers carry.[47:49] Territorial Spirits and the Battle Over RegionsTommy and Reagan reflect on how demonic strongholds operate not just personally, but over entire regions. In spiritually charged areas like the Middle East, the Enemy fiercely resists gospel work.Tommy shares how even Bible translation efforts in unreached areas face constant spiritual interference.Yet through it all, God's power continues to break ground where darkness has long ruled.[52:45] The Link Between Medication and AddictionTommy discusses the role anti-anxiety medication played in intensifying his alcohol cravings. He noticed his dependence on alcohol spiked after starting an SSRI prescribed for panic attacks. This connection led him to research and ultimately discontinue the medication after his spiritual breakthrough. He encourages others to evaluate their health journeys prayerfully and seek Spirit-led guidance.[58:39] Advice for Overcoming Addiction and AnxietyTommy urges listeners to admit powerlessness and seek a divine encounter with Jesus as the first step to healing.By trusting Him, we take a faithful path to healing. He shares practical advice for managing anxiety, including diet, outdoor activity, and community support.Accountability and honesty are key—especially with trusted friends and family.Above all, he emphasizes that true freedom from addiction and fear comes through Christ alone.[1:03:43] Tommy: “I did not need a foreign substance to be happy and enjoy life. And that's such a lie if, if that's holding you back, reconnect with the Lord.”[1:05:52] Living Free From Darkness to Purpose in ChristTommy reminds listeners that surrender is not weakness but the beginning of real strength. He shares how 2 Timothy 1:7 has anchored him through fear and addiction.God's healing is available to anyone ready to leave darkness and walk into His light.Learn more about Tommy's work through Uncharted Ministries and Uncharted Adventures at unchartedministries.com.About Tommy DoyleTommy Doyle is a missionary leader, speaker, and redeemed overcomer called to bring light into the darkest places. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the Earth.” Jesus spoke those words just before He ascended into heaven, and we find them recorded in Acts chapter one. This set the stage for all that followed. Ron takes us there next, as he continues his teaching series, “The Ultimate Road Trip Through the Bible: The Gospels and the Early Church.”

In this episode of the Revival Mom podcast, I'm sharing what changed everything for me: praying Scripture over my children with boldness, authority, and the help of the Holy Spirit. I'll show you how to ask the Holy Spirit what to pray, how to find Bible verses that match what your child is going through, and how to declare truth even when your circumstances haven't changed yet. You'll hear powerful stories from my own journey and a beautiful testimony from my friend Jen about how her son's speech delay started to shift when she began praying the Word over him daily. I'll also share how God reminded me that His word does not return void—and what happens when we stop praying from emotion and start praying from truth. In this episode of Arise + Abide, Curtis and Sally reflect on the hope-filled vision of Isaiah 11, where a new branch from David's line emerges—pointing to the coming of Jesus. They explore how the Spirit of the Lord rests on this righteous ruler, who judges not by appearance but with divine wisdom, justice, and truth. The conversation highlights how Jesus embodies these prophetic promises and how His reign brings deep transformation—personally, spiritually, and globally. From predator and prey living peacefully to nations reuniting and exiles returning home, Isaiah 11 paints a picture of radical peace and restored relationships. Curtis and Sally discuss the challenge of waiting on the Lord and allowing our nature to be transformed by His Spirit. They also emphasize the promise that God is actively drawing all people to Himself, creating unity and peace through relationship with Him. As the episode unfolds, listeners are invited to see God's ultimate plan for redemption—a world filled with people who know the Lord, walking in His truth, and living without fear. It's a powerful reminder that the way back to God's original design comes through the one who wears righteousness like a belt and truth as His foundation, Jesus.

Today I will be doing the witness. I have been thinking a lot about how God is working in my life and the life of my family. I often tell people to be specific about what they want. I think the more we know what we want the more likely we are to achieve it. The more specific we are with our prayers, the more likely we are to recognize and give God the glory when our prayers are answered. If we pray that things get better, how will we know when that prayer has been answered? It might get better in some ways and not in others and so we might be constantly waiting for God to answer that prayer. However, if we ask for something specific, like please help my son get a job. Then you know exactly when God has answered that prayer and you can give God all the glory. In 2021 I decided to come up with a specific prayer for our family. This way, I would know when the prayers had been answered. A thought just popped into my head so I want to clarify something. I do not think that we need to direct God or tell Him what to do or how to solve our problems. Being specific in our prayers is not about that. God is free to answer our prayers in any way He sees fit as He knows best. The idea of being specific with our prayers is that we can be more intentional with noticing when prayers are answered and therefore more intentional with our praise and giving God all the glory. I hope that makes sense.I decided to go back and look at the specific family prayers I had written in the past few years. I will not read them all to you because some of the stuff may be a bit personal for the boys. However, will share with you the parts that have been answered. First, we can look at a prayer I wrote in 2021. I asked the Lord that each of our boys do well in school that year, as they haven't always in the past, and they did! We were asking for the Lord to line up next steps for Sam for when he came home from Cushing house. We weren't sure what he needed or how we could set him up for success so we didn't ask for anything specific but we did ask for God to open a door for Sam. Before he even left Cushing House he had a job interview with Target and he started the next week after he moved back home. For Noah, we asked that he get out of the house more and experience more of the good things that High School has to offer. Noah ended up getting a job that he really liked and started hanging out with a good group of friends. Mostly, they would play online, but there were a few from our town, and so they would get together and do things, especially after they got their licenses. For Ryan, we asked that he be able to transition out of the Lighthouse school, as that was something he had expressed interest in. However, it wasn't really that motivated to go back in 2021. In 2024, Ryan transitioned out of the Lighthouse School and back into the Groton Dunstable Regional School District. He will finish his last two years of school in our home district. He is very happy to be at that school. It is a lot bigger and was a bit overwhelming at first, but he has settled in and I think he really likes it.We asked for the Lord to give our kids more confidence to venture out and try new things. Noah ended up applying to colleges that were abroad and is currently attending Napier Edinburgh University in Scotland. I am sure that took a lot of confidence not only to apply there but to move to another country for college. Ryan started boxing, which he had no previous experience in, and also got a job at Chick-fil-A. Sam is constantly filling in for people in different areas of Target, even if he was not trained in that area. He does what he is asked to do, even if it is new to him. Sam also started a new day program even though he was nervous and didn't know what to expect. I would say we can give God the glory for answering their prayer of giving the kids more confidence. For Tony and me, we prayed that God would help us to become the parents he created us to be and that our relationship with the boys would grow with love and respect. I believe God is in the process of answering this one. I don't think we will ever arrive at being perfect parents. I believe we will continue to grow and get better at it our whole lives. I believe God is helping us figure it out in this season. We have learned to lean into one another, instead of away from one another. We have learned to pray together when we aren't sure what to do. We have learned to communicate more respectfully with each other and with the boys. My relationship with the boys has definitely grown in love and respect. We communicate much better now and we seem to have much more of a mutual respect than we did before. I make sure to give the boys, at least the ones who are at home, a hug before they go to bed at night. If they are not home, I make sure to send them a text message letting them know that I love them.Last summer, August 2024, I decided to write a new prayer when I looked back and saw that most of our prayers from the first prayer had been answered. I want to also stop and be fully transparent with you. Because some of you might be saying to yourself that these prayers were answered because I am different in some way. I am not any more special than any of you. I promise you God is answering your prayers too. The reason I am seeing the answers more is because I wrote down specifically what I wanted, and so it is easy to see if it was answered or not. Also, I probably prayed this prayer every day for a week or two. That is usually my level of consistency, although it might have been less. I am sure it was not more. Then I might have prayed it every now and then if I happened to see it or remember it.I did not pray this prayer consistently from 2021-2024. I would be shocked if I even prayed it for 30 days total. I tell you this because sometimes we can hear people say that they did something, and we can think they did it perfectly or that they were so much more consistent. Consistency is great, and also, God can answer your prayer even if you only ask Him once. So don't get caught up in your failure to be consistent or your inability to write an eloquent prayer. My prayer was not eloquent, and I definitely wasn't consistent saying it, yet it was answered. Yours will be too!Back to 2024. I decided we should write a new prayer as our last prayer had worked out pretty well. Not everything was answered, and some answers we received were not the way or how we wanted them to be, but it was time to update our prayer. In this new prayer, we asked that Sam would form meaningful friendships with positive individuals who serve as good role models. He now has a best friend, and although I don't know all that they do, I do know he is encouraging Sam not to drink, and that is great! The other things we were praying for are still in the works. However, one thing was that he would be able to quit smoking. I don't know if he has quit for the long term or not, but there is no smoking where he is. So, for the next 45 days or so, he has quit smoking and vaping all things. These are all prayers answered! For Noah, we prayed he had an amazing time at Edinburgh Napier University. We prayed his roommates all got along and became good friends. We prayed there was no ill will or strife with any of them. We prayed he met amazing friends and stepped out with courage to try new things on his own. We prayed he would have the opportunity to travel and see many different places. Noah did get along with his roommates, and as far as I know, there was no strife. They did go out and do stuff together as well as hang out in the loft. I know he met friends while he was there who were not his flatmates. Noah had the courage to walk all around the city and go on hikes in different parts of the city or surrounding cities. He learned how to take the bus anywhere he wanted to go in the city. He hopped on the train several times to go to concerts in Glasgow. He also got a membership to a rock climbing gym.Noah did have the opportunity to travel and see different places. He flew by himself to Portugal to stay with friends of ours, and he explored their town and surrounding area on his own. That was a big step outside of his comfort zone. He also got to explore Copenhagen with dad and his grandmother. Then Tony flew back out a few weeks later to explore Norway with Noah. He also had some of his friends from high school fly over to visit him in Scotland. I would say all of our prayers for Noah were answered. For Ryan, we prayed that he would meet great people in his new school and that he would meet good friends who live nearby whom he enjoys hanging out with. We prayed he either got back into boxing or found another hobby that he likes. We prayed he did well in his classes and that he is happy in life. Ryan is really enjoying being at his new school. He has met a group of kids that he really likes hanging out with. He has them over to our house often as we have a pool table and video games in the basement. He seems genuinely happy with life right now.Two of his friends have a band, and they have invited Ryan to be a part of it. This is his new hobby. It is a metal band, so he practices singing all the time and is hoping to start voice lessons very soon. He has started writing lyrics and is so excited about this new hobby. I haven't seen him this happy in a very long time. It is so nice to see him having fun with friends and to hear him laughing. It is so nice to see his eyes light up when he talks about his lyrics or shows me a video of him practicing to do the metal screams. Our prayers for Ryan have all pretty much been answered as well.Tony and I prayed that we have more quality time together. We prayed we continued to grow closer to the Lord and closer to each other. We prayed we would continue to love each other more and more each day. We prayed that God helped us to understand each other better and that we would respect and support each other more. We are not perfect at this, but we are in such a good place right now. I am so happy, and I do feel we are growing closer to each other each day. I am so grateful that the Lord brought Tony into my life 27 years ago and that we just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. Like any relationship, we have had ups and downs, but I am so grateful the Lord helped us stay together through those hard times and get to where we are today!I hope after listening to this witness you sit down and take some time to write a prayer for yourself, your family, or your friends. I pray that you take some time to think about exactly what you want from the Lord this year. Where do you want to be this time next year? Where do you want your family to be this time next year? The Lord doesn't mind when we ask for specific things. That is the best way to make sure He gets all the glory!! It is not telling God what to do; it is just asking for what you want, and like any parent, He can say no if that is not what is best for you. I love all of you listening, and I know the Lord will answer your prayers just as he has done with mine. I would love to hear about any answers to prayer that you have received. Follow Everyday Prayers @MillionPrayingMoms_ A Prayer to Live from Your True Identity Reference: 2 Corinthians 5:7 What does it means to be a new creation in Christ? It is important to remember that our worth is found in who God says we are—not in what we do.Before any role—mom, teacher, friend, or neighbor—you are first and foremost a child of the one true King. Let us remember our spiritual identity and extend the same dignity to others as fellow image-bearers of God. Prayer Father, may my friend look to You for her identity instead of the things of this world. As she looks to you, may she live out of her identity as beloved and forgiven, doing the good works you created her to do, and most of all, that she is a beloved child. Help us all to see our children, our friends, and our enemies as equally loved by you. In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. You could argue that the church in the Book of Acts did more for the growth of Christianity than all the generations that have followed put together. How did they do it? Ron calls it the early church IPO, the initial public outpouring of the Holy Spirit. And it is through the power of the Holy Spirit that the first Christians were able to persevere through hardship and persecution to launch the church Jesus promised He would build. Stay with us now as Ron takes us to the Book of Acts in his continuing series, “The Ultimate Road Trip Through The Bible: The Gospels and the Early Church.”
Friends of the Rosary,Today, the Catholic Church celebrates the Memorial of St. Mary Magdalene, whom the Lord entrusted with announcing the great joy of the Resurrection to all others.Known as "the Apostle to the Apostles," she came from Magdala, a fishing village on the Sea of Galilee. Christ exorcised seven demons from Mary Magdalene.Mary Magdalene was privileged to see the resurrected Lord beside the empty tomb, and then shared the good news with the disciples. As we read today (John 20:1-2, 11-18), Jesus said to Mary Magdalene,"Go to my brothers and tell them:/ I am going to my Father and your Father,/ to my God and your God."She followed Jesus to His crucifixion and stood beside His mother and St. John at the foot of the cross on Good Friday.Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Ever had a day where everything feels like it's going wrong? Our kitchen sink backed up, the dishwasher overflowed, and dirty dishes ended up in the bathroom sink... It was chaotic, gross, and super frustrating. But in the middle of it all, the Holy Spirit gently nudged me:
We're in a series we've called, “In Spirit and In Truth.” And again we'll be discussing the mindset we're to have as we exercise the gifts of the Spirit. We learned last time that we all have an important part to play in the body of Christ. We might not be up on a stage teaching the Word or leading worship, but maybe our calling is more behind the scenes. Whatever it may be, pastor James encourages us now to seek the best gift for the call that you have from God. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/1459/29
As we contemplate the Holy Spirit, we must guard against diminishing His presence to a faint or subordinate role. Rather, we ought to acknowledge Him fully, as God, equal in glory, majesty, and power within the Godhead. The Holy Spirit is the very presence of God in action, operating in, among, and through His people to accomplish regeneration, salvation, sanctification, and union with Christ. Far from being distant or aloof, the Holy Spirit is God with us—indwelling, sustaining, and drawing near to our hearts at every moment.
Jesus Followers Are to Pray Directly to God for “all people” Because God “desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” MESSAGE SUMMARY: Jesus taught us to pray to God for others and ourselves. We are told, in Hebrews 5:7-8, that Jesus, as a Human, prayed to God in both content and manner as: “In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications {submissive requests}, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered.". In your personal relationship with God, you can come before God, as Jesus did, on behalf of yourself or others in Intercessory Prayer. You are given the privilege of following Moses' example for Intercessory Prayer because of what Jesus has done for you. Jesus has given you the privilege of entering the Throne Room of God to have access to God the Father – this access to God is through prayer. In 1 Timothy 2:1-4, we are told the importance if intercessory prayer: “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.". TODAY'S PRAYER: Unclutter my heart, O God, until I am quiet enough to hear you speak out of the silence. Help me in these few moments to stop, to listen, to wait, to be still, and to allow your presence to envelop me. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 23). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Compulsions. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Patience. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). This Sunday, Pastor Jon Tyson continued our series through the Book of Acts, The Fifth Act, with teaching on the history altering birth of the church at Antioch in Acts 11-13 and the roles Barnabas and Saul played in expanding the Kingdom from there. Following the rise of persecution in Jerusalem, followers of Jesus not only began to go to the ends of the earth, but to try and make disciples of all nations as Jesus commanded them, now that the Holy Spirit had been given to the Gentiles. Antioch marks the first place that the Gospel was actively being shared beyond the Jewish community, and it led to a radical move of God that transformed a nearly godless city to the place where believers were called “Christians” for the first time.
