Seán Creagh was born in County Monaghan in 1977. He attended Our Lady's Secondary School in Castleblayney and later on Dundalk Institute of Technology. After moving to the U.S and developing an intense interest in Irish-American history he attended Northeastern Illinois University where he achieved an Honors Degree in History as well as Honors in Education. Today he is a middle school Social Studies teacher in Illinois. His first book was The Wolfhounds of Irish-American Nationalism. Listen to an interview on that here. In this interview he discusses his second book entitled Republican Solipsist, recently published with Peter Lang Republican Solipsist: The Life and Times of Joseph Mcgarrity, 1874-1940 (Peter Lang, 2025) discusses the life of Joseph McGarrity and his role within Irish and Irish American Republicanism including the complicated transatlantic relationship between two opposing visions of an independent Ireland. McGarrity's militant Republicanism came into regular conflict with the reality of the political situation in Ireland. While the role of John Devoy has been well documented in the development of Irish American nationalism in the form of Clan na Gael that of Joseph McGarrity has been less well analyzed. For many historians the central focus of Irish American nationalism during the revolutionary period of 1916–1923 has centered on the Devoy-controlled branch of Clan na Gael. However, this period saw significant influence from McGarrity and the Philadelphia branch of the movement in shaping political events in Ireland which has been largely ignored. The book places McGarrity at the center of Irish Republicanism during one of the most critical periods of its history. It is hard to imagine how militant Irish Republicanism would have evolved had it not been for the role and influence of this long-neglected figure in Irish history. Rick Baroncelli is a wine professional from Waterloo, Ontario representing “The Case For Wine, Vinexx”. Rick has over 37 years' experience in the restaurant industry, most notable was his 20 years at iconic Canoe Restaurant in Toronto. At Canoe, he served food and wine to a high-end clientele; it is there where he really discovered his love of wine and his passion for honing sommelier skills. The Canoe environment had a great wine list but also focused on tasting menus, so food and wine pairings were a top priority. Canoe has a reputation as a high-profile restaurant and is a foodie destination. This enabled Rick to be on episodes of Food Network shows such as, MasterChef Canada, Top Chef Canada, Fink, and Michael Smith's Chef At Large. Rick has also served high profile people such as, David Beckham, Shania Twain, Justin Trudeau, and every Canadian bank CEO, to name a few. Once leaving Toronto Rick worked at Langdon Hall, The Bruce Hotel, and ran the wine program at The Berlin in Kitchener. Currently, Rick works at The Elora Mill as a Sommlier. While managing a busy work schedule Rick also enhanced his wine knowledge by completing courses with the Court of Master Sommeliers (CMS), WSET, and the Italian Trade Commission and is a Sommelier candidate with the CMS. A lifelong learner, Rick obtained his Honors Degree in Political Science at York University. After graduation he continued to study accounting and economics at the University of Western Ontario. His love of numbers lead him into day trading, where he has traded for over 13 years. He is currently a Proprietary Trader of Futures at Leeloo Trading. Futures are a form of investment derivatives and is one of the many investment vehicles day traders choose to trade. Rick keeps busy with many projects and is currently working on perfecting his food and wine pairing program that can easily be presented to groups. Also in the works is a wine tasting program that studies the effect of salt, sweet, and acidity on the wine taster's palate. A believer that the balance between food and wine can make or break a pairing, and he always strives for balanced pairings. His favorite white wines come from the Loire Valley in northern France and reds from Barolo. The portfolio of old and new world wines that the The Case For Wine offers, coupled with Rick's experience, creates many wine pairing options, whether a clean crisp Sancerre, a buttery Chardonnay, or a bold California Cabernet Sauvignon… Links: @rickbaroncelli thecaseforwine.com Contact Rick: rick@thecaseforwine.com kyppsaunders.ca @sugarrunbar @babylonsistersbar Little Mushroom Catering @littlemushroomcatering @the_industry_podcast email us: info@theindustrypodcast.club Podcast Artwork by Zak Hannah zakhannah.co

Happy International Women's Day (belated) and Women's History Month, Mamas! Today's episode is one that celebrates us - as women - no matter who you are, where you're from, or what you do etc. Today's episode celebrates you and your story. We each have a story to share, a story that deserves to be told, a story that changes lives. A story that gives other women around us the permission they need to keep going, to let them know that they belong. They are enough and they are seen and heard. I am so excited to share with you our guests today from the Collingwood Foundry x GirlTime Inc. Meet Ashley Lougheed, CEO and founder of Girl Time Inc., a social club for everyday women and women in business. Ashley's mission is to create a community — a Kula (Sanskrit word for community) — for women, one where they can collaborate and create life-long friendships, live a healthy and active lifestyle, and inspire each other to grow both individually and as a whole. She is a leader and a learner, with a diverse education including an Honors Degree in Sociology, a Bachelor of Education, a Degree in Interior Design, and a Certificate in Event Planning. An abstract dream engineer passionate about increasing the number of Pasifika Women in TechThat's the LinkedIn tagline of today's guest, Norie Ape. Together we discuss some of the reasons behind why only 2% of New Zealand's technology industry is classed as Pasifika or Maori - despite those cultures making up 25% of the population. And the numbers get smaller when you add other diversity layers. So how do we solve this?Norie provides a simple view:Provide people with a pathway, and connect them with the opportunities. And remove the perception that you need to be a certain person with a certain skillIn a wide ranging conversation, we cover:The value of Cultural Intelligence (CQ) in your organisationWhy having the same crew solving problems will always result in the same outcomes. How, by virtue of having different thought processes, the conversation goes in a different pathWe also look at some big ideas:What role models do we have? Why does the industry prescribe a particular degree? How do we change the perception of tech to be more than just development?Because if we want the products and services across the country to be reflective of society, then we need better representationAbout Norie: Norie, a Samoan digital product owner from the Mighty Auckland, is a passionate Blues supporter with experience within the government and private sector. What she loves about her role is the continuous engagement between tech teams & business teams to iteratively design, test, develop, implement and measure the success of customer centered products and services. When she's not refining her list of places to brunch in Wellington City or trying to promote and increase the number of Pasifika People and Pasifika Women in the technology sector, you can usually find her testing out in workshops or office corners ways to open up technical and process designs to be more innovative by encouraging diverse thought patterns and processes OR sharing stories of how she went from Case Manager @ Work & Income with an Honors Degree in Foreign Policy to a Digital Product Owner. In short she likes hearing, sharing and experiencing awesome stories and life experiences to help unravel narly problems.

Vince knows what it takes to build muscle, lose weight and overcome muscle unfriendly genes in the shortest time possible. He was so skinny growing up, he earned the nickname Skinny Vinny. Competing in long distance sports such as running and triathlon for ten years did not help improve his chances of overcoming his muscle unfriendly genes. Over the course of six months, Vince gained over 41 pounds of rock-hard muscle and climbed the scale from a scrawny 149 pounds to a muscular 190 pounds without drugs, without a lot of supplements and training only three days per week. After entering the world of competitive fitness modeling he became the Canadian Fitness Model Champion in his third show ever! His transformation even caught the attention of the International fitness magazine Maximum Fitness which featured a 2 page spread of his transformation story. Vince has an Honors Degree in Kinesiology and has been a Personal Trainer for five years. He now shares this information with anybody who is serious about building muscle – especially skinny guys who can’t gain muscle weight. Just recently he has authored the brand new e-book “No Nonsense Muscle Building: Skinny Guy Secrets To Insane Muscle Gain.” This is a 199 page manual that teaches skinny guys how to build muscle and gain weight quickly naturally and in less time. Vince believes that the majority of skinny guys are mislead and misinformed with what it takes to build muscle. Naturally skinny guys need to play by a different set of rules and his mission is to empower and inform each client to reach their true genetic potential completely drug free. Noel Patton (founder of T.A. Sciences) is today's featured guest. This is the second half of our interview begun in last week's episode. Topic: The snowballing research which supports the effectiveness of a substance which may allow you to extend your healthy years and maybe extend your life. Examples of this research include: a study published on the 12th of this month in the peer-review journal Aging Cell, and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute study released in February of this year. Skepticism is an essential component of science, but after thousands of years of uncountable fakers this area of research gets more skepticism than any other--and justifiably so. Fortunately, science is founded on the ultimate tool for deciding who is right: Experiment. It's the ultimate put-up or shut-up. Skeptics and proponents can duke it out all they want, but arguments will not decide this dispute. Results will decide. Clinical and reproducible. In this interview we explore just how much research has been completed for that conclusive result, and just how much more needs yet to be done. Hosted by Stephen Euin Cobb, this is the April 27, 2011 episode of The Future And You. [Running time: 30 minutes]. This is the second half of our interview recorded as a Skype-to-Skype call on April 16, 2011. Noel Patton is the founder of T.A. SCIENCES®. He graduated Indiana University with an Honors Degree in Philosophy. He furthered his studies on the East Coast and is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School. His interest in Telomere Biology began in 1999, when upon learning about telomeres he contacted leading edge California biotech company Geron. He and his wife Eve became Geron investors and were on hand when Geron and the University of Science and Technology in Hong Kong discovered the cellular rejuvenation properties of the single molecule which is now called TA-65. In 2002 Noel and Eve secured exclusive worldwide rights to Geron's Telomerase Activation (TA) technology for nutraceutical and cosmeceutical products and in 2007, after 5 years of development and safety testing, opened the T.A. Sciences office in New York City.
