Black Tantra for Ancestral Healing — Releasing Inherited Trauma from the Root

Why does trauma you never personally lived through still show up in your body? In this episode, I answer a listener's question about inheriting war trauma from both her father and grandfather — a "functional freeze" in the root chakra that even ayahuasca couldn't shift. We explore what it really means to carry generational trauma: why the freeze response is a form of protection rather than a flaw, why psychedelics can retraumatize instead of heal, and how the Black Tantric practice of confronting death can move deeply frozen fear into resilience and power. I also share the practical, sequential steps for releasing root-level trauma — starting with physical safety, moving through your relationship with money, and ending in ancestral honoring practices, including specific timing based on the lunar cycle and Vedic astrology. This is generational, patient work. It won't resolve in a single ceremony or a single episode — but it can be understood, and it can be walked. If this episode resonates, I invite you to apply for my private mentorship, the Path of Power, where we go even deeper into building your own value system and safely exploring your relationship to money, power, sexuality, and the concept of God.

Why Date Nights Aren't Fixing Your Relationship

One of the most common pieces of relationship advice is, “You just need more date nights.” But what if you're already spending plenty of time together and still feel disconnected? Dinner, vacations, concerts, movies, and weekends away can all be fun, but simply being in the same place doesn't automatically create connection. In this episode, Kimberly and Roberto explore the difference between spending time together and actually connecting, why date nights can sometimes become a Band-Aid for deeper relationship issues, and what creates the emotional intimacy and presence couples are really craving. In This Episode, We Cover: why spending time together isn't necessarily connection how date nights can become a distraction from deeper relationship issues why presence is essential for emotional connection why connection should be a daily practice instead of a weekly event how we create connection in our everyday relationship why connection with your partner begins with connection to yourself Ready to Go Deeper? If you're spending plenty of time together but still feeling disconnected, this is exactly the kind of work we explore inside our Couples Retreats. Our next intimate Couples Retreat is September 17–21 at our private lakeside sanctuary in North Kawartha, Ontario. Over four days, we help couples slow down, reconnect, deepen intimacy, strengthen communication, and learn practical connection skills they can continue using at home. What does it actually mean to rebel? And what happens when rebellion itself becomes another form of conformity?Recorded live at The Satanic Temple in Salem, Massachusetts, this lecture explores the spiritual function of transgression, taboo, heresy, and the figure of the sacred outlaw throughout the history of magick. We move from the Salem witch trials, Gnostic Christianity, Tantra and the Aghori to Lilith, Lucifer, Prometheus, Baphomet, Aleister Crowley, Babalon, Austin Osman Spare, chaos magick, Genesis P-Orridge, and modern Satanism. At the center is a simple argument: transgression only has transformative power when the boundary being crossed is actually real for the person crossing it. Once rebellion becomes an identity, an aesthetic, or something the marketplace can sell back to us, it begins to lose its charge. So what is genuinely forbidden now?Perhaps the most transgressive acts left to us are not greater acts of rebellion, but sincerity, devotion, sustained attention, commitment, belief, and even the willingness to bow. This is a lecture about the Devil not simply as a supernatural being, but as the accuser, the scapegoat, the heretic, and the outsider who stands beyond the boundaries of consensus and reveals what the culture cannot admit about itself.

By now it's probably quite obvious that our spiritual community is like the Protestant church you grew up in. Although all of our content on the internet is listed as "adult-content", often I have overestimated the maturity of our audience because I am only just now starting to understand how deep seated our preconceptions can be regarding hierarchies of power and institutions of authority, what to say about these things in the spiritual world. The thing is: we tend to always look outside ourselves for answers and more often, we tend to hold everyone and everything responsible for choices that we fear to own up to ourselves. But in the world of Vāmācāra/Kaula-mārga, the so-called "left hand path" of Tantra, there is no substitute for real discernment, grit and maturity. It really isn't for everybody because we're all of us different and so we'll all need different things to make spiritual progress/we'll all find different things spiritually nourishing. But how will we know if it's for us?To help with discernment and to provide a "CAUTION:HOT" disclaimer for our stuff, we put together a little playlist called Community Safety + Guidelines to help audiences get the most of our community starting with Dream Initiation | & Are We A Legitimate Tāntrik Lineage? where we ask some serious questions about lineage authority and then in How To Practice Tantra & Guru Yoga Responsibly we laid out the traditional safeguards for interacting with spiritual teachers and their communities and in Can You Learn Tantra From Books | & Am I A Tāntrik Guru? we lay out our principles and commitments as a community so you can know what to expect and what to watch out for. In this next installment, Who Should You Learn Tantra From? we offer some very important disclaimers regarding risk appetite and bhāva (spiritual predisposition) not only to carefully explain the bhāva of our community but more importantly to make the case that everyone is valid, each according to their own disposition. In this solo episode, Amy Wheeler explores a fascinating question: What happens when we look beneath the physical practice of yoga and return to its deeper purpose? Beginning with the history of āsana, Amy traces how yoga postures evolved from simple meditation seats into the diverse practices we know today. Along the way, she examines the Tantric influence of the Śiva Saṃhitā, the rise of embodied awareness in modern somatic practices, and the importance of lived experience as a pathway to understanding ourselves more deeply. The episode invites listeners to consider how yoga therapy can serve as a bridge between ancient wisdom and contemporary understandings of human experience, healing, and transformation. In this episode, Amy discusses:• The Sanskrit root of āsana and its original meaning as a seat or stable posture for meditation• The role of āsana in the Yoga Sūtras and why Patañjali devoted only a few verses to posture• The evolution of āsana through the Haṭha Yoga tradition, including the Haṭha Yoga Pradīpikā, Gheraṇḍa Saṃhitā, and Śiva Saṃhitā• Why the Śiva Saṃhitā is considered one of the most Tantric of the major Haṭha Yoga texts• The concepts of prāṇa, nāḍīs, chakras, and kuṇḍalinī as experiential maps of human transformation• How modern somatic approaches emphasize interoception, self-awareness, and embodied regulation• The importance of first-hand lived experience in understanding consciousness and healing• The connection between lived experience, yoga therapy, and the study of consciousness• How Indigenous ways of knowing value observation, participation, relationship, and direct experience• Why lived experience may be one of the most important meeting points between yoga, science, and healingClosing ThoughtsOne of the enduring gifts of yoga is its invitation to investigate experience directly. Whether we approach that inquiry through Classical Yoga, Tantra, somatic practice, lived experience, or Indigenous wisdom traditions, each reminds us that transformation begins with attention. The path of yoga therapy is not simply about changing symptoms or improving function. It is also about learning to observe, inhabit, and understand our lived experience more fully. In doing so, we may discover that the body, breath, mind, and spirit have been teaching us all along.Contact Amy Wheeler:www.TheOptimalState.com Optimal State App for iPhone:https://apps.apple.com/us/app/optimal-state/id1604424804 The Yoga Therapy Hour Podcast:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yoga-therapy-hour-with-amy-wheeler/id1564687158 School of Integrative Health at NDMU:https://www.ndm.edu/academics/integrative-health Master of Science in Yoga Therapy at NDMU:https://www.ndm.edu/academics/integrative-health/yoga-therapy Explore NDMU's Post-Master's Certificate in Therapeutic Yoga Practices, designed specifically for licensed healthcare professionals:https://www.ndm.edu/academics/integrative-health/yoga-therapy/post-masters-certificate-in-therapeutic-yoga-practices Try our Post-Bac Ayurveda Certification Program at NDMU:https://www.ndm.edu/academics/integrative-health/ayurveda/post-baccalaureate-ayurveda-certification #IntegrativeHealth #HealthcareEducation #InterprofessionalEducation #GraduateSchool #NDMUproud #SOIHproud #SOIHYoga #SOIHAyurveda #NDMUYoga #NDMUAyurveda #SOIHGraduateSchool

Send us a text & leave your email address if you want a reply!Ever been told you're "too wet" or worried you're "not wet enough?" In this episode of Sex Reimagined, Leah Piper and Dr. Willow Brown break down the real truth behind vaginal wetness, arousal signals, and why lubrication isn't the only factor  with how turned on you actually are. They dig into why making noise during sex unlocks deeper arousal, the difference between Taoist and Tantric approaches to sounding, why lube should be a staple and never a source of shame, what happens once you experience female ejaculation, how to navigate period sex with confidence, and how to have a compassionate conversation with a partner about hygiene without triggering shame. This one is packed with practical, body-literate tools for anyone who has ever felt self-conscious about wetness, smell, sound, or fluids during sex.EPISODE HIGHLIGHTSWetness and arousal don't always match. Cervical fluid, cycle timing, and hormones can make you wet or dry independent of how turned on you feel.Sounding isn't performance, it's a shortcut to pleasure. Making noise from the top of your inhale to the bottom of your exhale moves energy and gets you out of your head.Female ejaculation strips away viscous fluid. Ejaculators often need more lube afterward, not less.Lube is a tool, not a confession. Reaching for it has nothing to do with how attracted you are to your partner.Period sex has ancient roots as ritual and healing, not just something to tolerate or avoid.Hygiene conversations go better with curiosity and a "we can do better here" frame instead of blame.LINKS & RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THE EPISODE CAN BE FOUND ON THE WEBSITE: https://www.sexreimagined.com/blog/too-wet-not-wet-enough Sexual Reflexology Online Masterclass - Join us September 2nd at 4pm Pacific / 7pm Eastern for a live masterclass on zoom. When sex starts disappearing from a relationship, most couples assume sex is the problem. But what if the lack of sex is actually the messenger? Stress, resentment, pressure, shame, emotional disconnection, and feeling unseen or unheard can all show up in the bedroom. And simply trying to have more sex doesn't address what's happening underneath. In this episode, Kimberly and Roberto explore why desire fades, what gets in the way of real intimacy, and how slowing down, creating emotional safety, and rebuilding connection can change what becomes possible between you.   In This Episode, We Cover: why couples struggle to talk openly about sex the shame and conditioning we carry around sexuality and pleasure why focusing on frequency and performance misses the deeper issue how stress and survival mode affect desire why pressure, blame, and rejection create even more resistance why slowing down can completely change your experience of touch and pleasure   Ready to Go Deeper? If intimacy has faded in your relationship, this is exactly the kind of work we explore inside our Couples Retreats. Our next intimate Couples Retreat is September 17–21 at our private lakeside sanctuary in North Kawartha, Ontario. We help couples slow down, reconnect emotionally, improve communication, understand desire more deeply, and create the conditions for intimacy to come alive again. Reserve your retreat spot here:

On the auspicious occasion of Nāga Pañcamī, the sacred day for worshipping dragons, I was inspired to give a slightly more dynamic and comparative talk this time compared to our talk last year (Snakes, Dragons & Nāgas in Tantra) which focused more on the āvatāras of the nāgas (Patañjalī, Abhinavagupta etc.). In this second talk on the subject, we explored the concept of the Dragon (a more literal reading of Nāga) as a personification of wildness and primordial chaos, tracking the idea in the Campbellian Hero's Journey (to make an exciting claim about merging the princess, a symbol for the lost anima with the dragon, which also symbolizes both the shadow and the anima, to use Jungian terms) with comparisons to Tiamat from Mesopotamian myth, Apep or Apopohis/Typhon in the Ancient Egyptian tradition and of course tracing it into its corollaries in the Vedic/Hindu world with reference to Indra's battle with Vrtta, the earliest "dragon" to appear in the tradition. I make an exciting claim comparing Patañjali, the Serpent (whose name literally means "fallen offering", or rather, "fallen angel) to Lucifer in the Garden of Eden and an even more exciting claim about why we should not try to slay the dragon, but rather learn from Her and even become Her. Here are some of the mantras we referenced in the class:अनंतं वासुकीं शेषं पद्मनाभं च कंबलम् शंखपालं धृतराष्ट्रं च तक्षकं कालियं तथा एतानि नव नामानि नागानाम् च महात्मन: सायंकाले पठेन्नित्यं प्रात:काले विशेषत: तस्य विषभयं नास्ति सर्वत्र विजयी भवेत् anaṃtaṃ vāsukīṃ śeṣaṃ padmanābhaṃ ca kaṃbalam śaṃkhapālaṃ dhṛtarāṣṭraṃ ca takṣakaṃ kāliyaṃ tathā etāni nava nāmāni nāgānām ca mahātmanah: sāyaṃkāle paṭhennityaṃ prātakāle viśeṣatah: tasya viṣabhayaṃ nāsti sarvatra vijayī bhavet “Ananta, Vāsukī, Śesha, Padmanābha and Kambala Śankhapāla, Drstarāshtra and Takshaka and Kāliya: These are the 9 great Serepents: I bow to them all! If (this mantra) is recited always, especially in the morning and in the evening, all poisons and fear will be destroyed and one becomes victorious everywhere!” If you can, feed some snakes today with hard boiled eggs and milk! That is to say: leave out a bowl of milk and a hard boiled egg under a tree somewhere! And here is a mantra for invoking and worshipping Patañjali: योगेन चित्तस्य पदेन वाचां । मलं शरीरस्य च वैद्यकेन ॥ योऽपाकरोत्तमं प्रवरं मुनीनां । पतञ्जलिं प्राञ्जलिरानतोऽस्मि ॥ आबहु पुरुषाकारं। शङ्खचक्रासि धारिणं॥ सहस्र शीरसं श्वेतं। प्रनमामि पतञ्जलिम्॥ yogena cittasya padena vācāṁ । malaṁ śarīrasya ca vaidyakena ॥ yo'pākarottamaṁ pravaraṁ munīnāṁ । patañjaliṁ prāñjalirānato'smi ॥ ābahu puruṣākāraṁ śaṅkha cakrāsi dhāriṇaṁ sahasra śīrasaṁ śvetaṁpranamāmi patañjalim Yoga, for the mind Grammar, for the speech, Medicine for the impurities of the body, I bow to that great sage Patañjali who has given all these! Pure spirit incarnate in form, Holding the conch, discuss and sword I bow to Patanjali, that thousand headed white (cobra)!Hit Me Up xSupport the showLectures happen live every Monday at 7pm PST and again at Friday 11am PST Use this link and I will see you there:https://www.zoom.us/j/7028380815For more videos, guided meditations and instruction and for access to our lecture library, visit me at:https://www.patreon.com/yogawithnishTo get in on the discussion and access various spiritual materials, join our Discord here: https://discord.gg/U8zKP8yMrM

Send Us a Message!Your body is not being dramatic. It is being honest. Christine Renee sits down with Wilder Akasha, a somatic coach and embodied leadership guide, to talk about what happens when trauma, stress, and long-held survival strategies get stored in the soma and start running the show. Drawing from more than three decades across education, leadership, somatics, mindfulness, energy work, and embodied personal development, Wilder explores the intersection of self-trust, relationship, sexuality, and human transformation. We explore a simple shift that can change everything: treating emotions like signals you can welcome, not threats you have to suppress. Along the way, Wilder shares how curiosity and connection are not soft skills, they are biological design, and how the nervous system is always scanning for one thing: safety. In this episode we'll explore:

Every day, tens of millions of people use mantras all around the globe. Originating in South Asia and then spreading via practitioners, texts, rituals, and iconography, mantras have been grounded in speech and sound but also take a range of material forms. For instance, they are inscribed on surfaces, written in manuscripts, printed on posters, visually encoded in diagrams, or worn as amulets and textiles. Not surprisingly, mantras also circulate widely in digital spaces. In this episode of the Nordic Asia Podcast, Prof. Xenia Zeiler from the University of Helsinki talks to Prof. Borayin Larios about the ERC Synergy project MANTRAMS - Mantras in Religion, Media and Society in Global Southern Asia, and about digital mantra research. Funded by a Synergy Grant from the European Research Council, MANTRAMS is a pioneering, large-scale research project entirely dedicated to mantras, past and present. The interdisciplinary and comparative six-year project will investigate mantras across millennia and around the world, examining the roots of mantra, their circulation across South and Southeast Asia, and their transcultural significance in global contexts today. Borayin Larios is Assistant Professor of Modern South Asian Studies at the University of Vienna. His research interests span contemporary and classical Indian religious traditions, including the anthropology and history of mantras, popular and everyday Hinduism, material religion, and Yoga and Tantra traditions. In his interdisciplinary approach, he combines cultural anthropology, religious studies, and historical philology. He is a Principal Investigator in the ERC Synergy project MANTRAMS - Mantras in Religion, Media and Society in Global Southern Asia. Xenia Zeiler is Professor of South Asian Studies at the University of Helsinki. In Tantra and yoga, the Mahavidyas serve as mirrors for self-reflection and transformation. Kali, the first Mahavidya, embodies the raw power of Shakti, ushering in creation, time, and transformation. Her fierce energy teaches us that change is essential, urging us to shed old selves and release limiting beliefs, fears, and attachments. Kali encourages us to confront our shadows... anger, pride, and arrogance... and dissolve the shame tied to them, seeing them as sources of growth.Depicted with a garland of skulls and a sword of divine knowledge, Kali cuts through ignorance, helping us transcend the ego. Her energy, while intense, invites radical transformation and liberation. Shiva, the still awareness, harmonizes Kali's dynamic power. Their union represents the balance between creation and destruction, movement and stillness. In our practice, we invoke Kali's imagery to release old patterns, confront fear, and embrace renewal, supported by Shiva's grounding presence. To read more and to practice with Zephyr Wildman, click here. Can Alfred North Whitehead's process philosophy offer a new way of understanding how magic works?Join me live on Saturday, 1 August 2026, at 12 pm EST for a fascinating conversation with Dr Darren Iammarino of the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of San Diego. We will explore the philosophy of magic between 1875 and 1975, beginning with Spiritualism, Theosophy, William James, and the emergence of spirit and energy models. Our central focus will be Whitehead's process philosophy and its potential to explain magic through an informational and relational model of reality, in which events, consciousness, agency, and influence are interconnected processes rather than isolated substances. We will also consider how yoga, Tantra, and the Yoga Sūtras conceptualise siddhis, or supernormal powers, alongside the influence of perennialism on modern Western interpretations of magic. Can process thought help us move beyond the familiar opposition between supernatural and psychological explanations? Could magic be understood as participation in a dynamic and interconnected cosmos? In this series, we will explore the ten Hindu Goddesses, or Mahavidya, through their iconography and energies, reflecting both light and shadow within ourselves. Our approach honors the cultural significance of these deities, deepening our understanding of yoga's spiritual roots. At the heart of yoga and Tantra is the union of Shiva, pure consciousness, and Shakti, creative energy. Shiva's stillness witnesses the dynamic movements of life, while Shakti is the force that sustains and dissolves the universe. These energies are inseparable, and their union fuels all creation.Through asanas, pranayama, and meditation, we harmonize Shiva's stillness with Shakti's energy, awakening our true nature. As Shakti rises through the chakras to unite with Shiva, a profound spiritual awakening occurs. Our practice will embody their cosmic dance, where each movement is a reflection of creation and consciousness merging. This journey inspires bliss, contentment, and self-awareness, honouring the divine interplay within us.To read more and to practice with Zephyr Wildman, click here. In this episode, we explore intuition, divine timing, and the courage required to act before fear takes over.Through an honest and embodied conversation, we unpack why so many people feel stuck waiting for the “right moment,” how intuitive nudges are often ignored in favour of safety and performance, and why alignment only becomes real through action. We explore presence as the gateway to intuition, and how bliss, liberation, and confidence emerge not from waiting, but from moving when something inside says now.The conversation moves into deeper territory around conscious leadership, tantra, authenticity, and creating your reality through lived integrity rather than concepts. We explore how fear disguises itself as patience, why overthinking blocks momentum, and how courage is built by acting before certainty arrives. This episode is for anyone interested in intuition, spiritual leadership, authenticity, presence, conscious creation, and living in alignment — especially if you're done playing small and ready to step into what you already know you're here to do.Watch the episode on YouTubehttps://youtube.com/yeskingoliverConnect & explore moreInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/yeskingoliverFREE course — Take Control: http://www.talkwitholiver.comEpisode Chapters00:00 – Wanting to be yourself01:35 – Society's false self vs the true self03:00 – Doing the inner work early04:10 – What conscious leadership really means06:00 – Dropping performance and identity layers07:40 – Sex, relationships, and authenticity10:00 – Waiting vs acting: the real cost12:10 – Divine timing and quantum shifts14:45 – Purpose, visibility, and discomfort17:00 – Presence as the home of intuition19:30 – Building courage through action21:20 – Acting on intuition without overthinking23:30 – Alignment and trust25:00 – From anxiety to authentic living27:00 – Bliss through inner return30:00 – Final reflections on purpose and visionGuest BioJapa is a sound healer, spiritual guide, and former touring musician whose journey spans performance, devotion, and service.
