It may seem a bit abstract for most of us but it is actually an important part of our social life. Have you recently been criticising the way you look or the way you act so that you can impress your manager at work. Whatever way it may be you might need to learn to not care about unimportant stuff. This weeks topic was based on Matt D`Avella`s video on YouTube. Hello guys. Welcome back for you. Episode off. Think about it. We've been hit with a new guest. Uh, yes, a special guest and he's a friend of mine and he's called this out. Uh, hello is Al. Yeah. So, um, we've actually been, I've actually been thinking about, you know, trying to do, uh, another ways of communicating, uh, instead of the mobile phone, because we've buried the, as you seen before about sucked of it. So thinking about doing Skype on, as you might know, is always from UK. So therefore I have to kind of use Skype or, uh, my mobile phone anyway, the. Topic of today's episode is how to give it X. It might seem a bit radical, but it's slow way you think. What do you think when you hear that dissolve? Okay. What do you think? What do you think about it? What do you think it's all about? Let's go on here where you can just play around with it. Yeah. Like, you know, random words, Dominic, I know we like, you know, the B word that one day we like dictionary and citizens of FEMA, dog. And we just thought we didn't know the meaning. We used to just say random words were like, Oh, it's just cool. Yeah. Anyway, so. They the topic of, uh, the topic of today's podcast episode comes from Madea Bella's episode of how to Kim F and what he means that is kind of, uh, we, people tend to get worried about what other people care about, you know, like what is he doing? Uh, kind of competition when, uh, especially when it's all about competition, uh, we tend to kind of care what others do, but Matt DOL says, we need to give an ass by not caring about what they will. People think about us and also not caring about others. So that was actually what it was mad. It's not the kind of thing he, but it's that one. Have you got any thoughts, like, worried about like what someone is doing, like in exam law, improviser, or as I'm providing an offer, like, you know, I get I'll get where you come from or not. Yeah. Yeah. How about you? For me? I've got to Beth face, mostly just competition. And if lost from this stuff, I don't know, but you that's like the two or three people? I have a study hall. Did I study more? Did they write the data or is it homework? I tend to worry about people. Think of me, like sometimes like, like let's just say, uh, Let's just say we're going to see them. Okay. Just an example I have then for example, I would be worried that okay. People who think my toes are weighed or something like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was kind of scary. Like, what is that someone's thinking about you like, Oh boy police headquarters messed up. Cause I thought I still, when I, to school one day, I just cry my half by myself. Kind of a pressure to be fine w w in school, but then they're like, Oh, this is a really good head to head call. Like where did he get it from? I said, I caught it by myself. Well, I did. Okay. Cause, um, in Norway there's a more of a complaint about, you know, uh, pressure book. My squeeze, I have never kind of seen it, but I, I do see people go around with, uh, branded clothes, like, you know, Champion levies and all of those things. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That happens in my school. People that all the designer, places or not, I didn't tend to worry about the design, but I just like, like good clinic. I just, I like nice shirts and stuff. Not like Supreme hoodies. I didn't even like, do. Yeah. I like like denim jeans and stuff, you know, they're like really nice, but my kindness, I like, some people are like, Oh, Apple watch. And I didn't care about which is I like plastic watches. She'd be like, but it's not because of the branding. Welcome to episode 28! It covers the week of April 13 - 17, 2020.This week’s theme is: *Lifelong Learning,* and it comes to us from Ari Gootnick at Knowable. For this week’s theme, Ari scored EarBuds listeners and subscribers exclusive access to some Knowable content. To access some Knowable courses, head to your inbox for the EarBuds newsletter. If you’re not already signed up, do that at earbudspodcastcollective.org.More on this podcast:Each week on this podcast, we’ll share the information that's within the newsletter put out by EarBuds Podcast Collective. EBPC is a listening movement. We send a weekly email with a theme and 5 podcast episodes on that theme, and each week is curated by a different person. Anyone can curate a list -- just reach out!We partner with Inside Podcasting to bring you the week’s top podcast news stories. Written by Skye Pillsbury, Inside Podcasting is a thrice weekly email newsletter that covers the podcast world. Here’s why Ari chose this theme:They say graduating college is simply the beginning, not the end. As a young adult, in my mid-twenties, I have been trying to find ways to continue education myself, beyond my daily routine. I have found that being a lifelong learner allows me to explore new ideas, have better conversations, and most importantly, understand myself. Here are the episodes Ari chose: MONDAY: On Purpose with Jay Shetty - How To Release Your Toxic Beliefs & Getting Back To Your Higher Nature - 63 minutes Jay Shetty interviews leadership coach Robin Sharma on his new book, The 5AM Club. In addition to explaining his 20-20-20 formula on how to structure your morning for optimal daily productivity, he also introduces concepts about freeing yourself from distractions, the nature of the mind, and tapping into your primal genius. Learning can also get you into the flow state, which triggers the release of dopamine in your brain and helps you deal with stress and anxiety. TUESDAY: Knowable - Learn to Learn - 5 hour course Hosted by a team of behavioral psychologists, memory champions, polyglots, and masterminds explains their proven strategies and teaches you how to learn better. I particularly enjoyed hearing from Yanjaa Wintersoul, a Mongolian 3x memory champion. You can listen to this course for free on Knowable! WEDNESDAY: Knowable - Speak with Confidence - 7 hour course Hosted by master communicators (including the 2019 world champion), speechwriters, and vocal coaches (including a longtime NPR voice coach), this course teaches you how to speak in any setting, from presenting to clients, to giving a wedding toast, to schmoozing at dinner parties. Knowable is giving Earbuds readers an exclusive coupon code to access this course for free! Redeem the course by using the code earbuds on their website today. THURSDAY: The Ground Up Show - Morning Routine - 60 minutes Josh Janssen from The Daily Talk Show joins Matt D’Avella to discuss waking up early, morning routines & why we care how others start their day. FRIDAY: A Tribe Called Yes - 4 Degrees of Separation - 23 minutes In this episode, host Daron K Roberts interviews me about how I traveled from LA to NY relying solely on connections made via social media. This was a profound experience and the first time that I began to truly believe the idea that you can learn something incredibly unique and fascinating from anyone. I wanted to share this because it was the first time that I began to be a lifelong learner. Most of these episode recommendations are available on Podchaser, Castbox, and wherever else you get your podcasts! Here’s Ari’s Self Promo:I recently joined a company called Knowable, a platform for screen-free, audio-first courses led by experts. I was attracted to this company because I often found myself enjoying the format of podcasts, but didn't feel like I was receiving the knowledge like from an audiobook. Knowable is the perfect medium, a great way to learn a new skill on the go, while keeping my engaged and interested. Follow Knowable on Twitter and Instagram. Use this hashtag to discuss this theme online with us: #LifelongLearningThank you to this week’s sponsor of our newsletter + podcast - TAPE CLUB podcast from Pod People. Today on the show we have minimalist filmmaking guru Matt D'Avella. I had the pleasure of being on Matt's podcast The GroundUp Show back in 2017 when he was still a young and up and coming podcaster. One day I turned around and saw that Matt had built a following of over 2 million followers on Youtube. It was official, he was a Youtube star. Matt was able to build this business using his filmmaking toolbox. Before his Youtube fame, he directed an amazing documentary called Minimalism. That film went onto to run on Netflix and was sold around the world.Matt and I discuss his filmmaking, building and marketing his Youtube channel and what it's like being a minimalist filmmaker. Enjoy my minimal but EPIC conversation with Matt D'Avella.

I believe in the Three Year Rule. Matt D'Avella believes in it too. What about Tony Robbins? He talks about decades. What about me? I'm so sick and tired of these emails: "I used your technique from Rise of the Phoenix on ONE girl and she didn't sleep with me. Then I gave up." Stop complaining and follow the Three Year Rule and get my audiobook & eBook course: https://www.globalseducer.com/rise-of-the-phoenix/ And book your first coaching session with me: https://www.globalseducer.com/skype/

In this episode, I'm excited to have a good conversation with Kush Khandelwal! Kush is Co-Founder and Head of Marketing and Design at Renegade Radio. His experiences in designing and creating within various industries like Fashion, Tech, F&B, and even Blockchain had led him to where he is now, working on all parts of the creative spectrum. We're talking sound design, video, photography and graphics design. I wanted to have a quick chat with him about proper design practices in podcasting. Maybe there are certain trends that are doing really well right now, and maybe there are certain colour schemes that are not working. But, it's best to ask from Kush and tap into his knowledge, thought processes and how he tackles this. We talk about: Designing trends in the podcasting scene Kush's history and involvement in podcasting What inspires him, his thought processes when designing podcast art, etc. How to start designing for podcasts as a budding creative Let's get right into it! This week on the Colin and Samir Podcast, we’re joined by our good friend Matt D’avella. We first met Matt about a year ago when we were on his podcast - The Ground Up Show. Over the past year Matt has grown a serious audience on YouTube, he’s about to cross 1 million subscribers, and some of his videos have hit the 7 million view mark. The interesting thing about Matt is that he’s made YouTube a career for himself without any advertising or sponsorships. He’s paved his own way to make filmmaking a career. On this episode we talk to Matt about why he doesn't do advertising and how he supports his filmmaking career. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-colin-and-samir-show/support

“The whole point is to get past the ‘stuff’.” While we often think of minimalism as having less ‘stuff’, it’s not about the stuff at all. The goal is to get past the focus of material things in order to live a life that’s truly meaningful to you. Earlier this week we released Episode 93 with Matt D’Avella, Creating + Building An Audience Is Difficult. He was the director of Minimalism: A Documentary About The Important Things and now is the host of The Ground Up Show podcast. I had seen the documentary on Netflix in 2016 and it changed the way I saw the “things” in my life and made me realize having less was actually better. Not only did it clear up the clutter in my room because I had less “things” to worry about but I also felt I had clearer headspace - less shit to worry about and more time to focus on doing things I wanted to do. If you have Netflix and are looking for a new doc, I highly recommend checking it out! Matt does a fantastic job with The Ground Up Show, a podcast that inspires creatives to make meaningful content & pursue their passion. He brings in a wide variety of guests such as musicians, athletes, creatives and even had Tyler Babin - creative for Gary Vaynerchuk who we had on for Episode 50. The conversations are smooth, inspiring and have provided me with a ton of value from the handful that I have listened to so be sure to check that out as well. Matt D’Avella is the host of The Ground Up Show podcast as well as the director behind Minimalism: A Documentary About The Important Things. Raised in Lebanon Township, New Jersey he was the third of seven children. He found his passion for film early on and instead of sitting in the cafeteria in high school during lunch, he would spend any and all free time editing. At one point he and his brother Mark created a parody rap video Produce Paradise inside the grocery store they worked which landed them a 7 Million Dollar lawsuit. Fortunately for them they’ll got off the hook from paying and walked away with a check for $3,500. After graduating from Temple University, $117k in student loans, having just purchased a brand new car and living at home, he would go on to pay off all of his debt within four years strictly from freelancing and understanding how to be smart with his money. With an email from Joshua Fields Millburn about an idea to create a documentary for The Minimalists, he was all on board. Passionate about the message, he spent the next three years putting together this project. With zero expectations of what would come of the final product, the documentary landed on Netflix. Today his passion project is The Ground Up Show, a weekly podcast that inspires creatives to make shit happen. Over the past 66 plus episodes he’s talked with comedians, athletes, musicians and other creatives. If you asked him who his dream guest would be it’s simple - Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He even has a seperate website dedicated to getting him on the show. In this episode he discusses why we should never have any expectations, anything is possible if you have the right intentions, why we must respect people's time, the importance of having a balanced lifestyle, you have to earn people’s respect and how creating and building an audience is difficult. - Please leave 1 sentence review on the iTunes Podcast App with your honest feedback. On this episode, Lux (star of episode 11's dog party) joins us for an in-studio meal as JB and YB discuss some of the ups, downs and altogether messy elements of a self-directed livelihood. Joshua & Ryan are joined by Minimalism director Matt D'Avella, and they answer the following questions: Was it hard to invest so much money and time into your film project without assurance it was going to succeed? How do I further minimize the essentials in my life when I feel like I’m always overbooked and I can’t catch my breath? How have your lives changed since you made the film? What can we do as a community to further promote the message of living more intentionally and simply? What was the most challenging thing about making the film? If you were to make the film again, what would you do differently? What is your next project? Bienvenidos a Inconfundiblemente Latino, soy Julio Muñiz. GG: En primer lugar, a hacer Networking. Queremos inspirar a...

My name's Matt D'Avella and I'm an award-winning filmmaker & host of The Ground Up Show. I've been a professional director & producer for my entire working career and released my first two feature-length documentary in 2016, Minimalism (on Netflix) & Design Disruptors. This is a podcast about how to create something from nothing. When I first got started out as a filmmaker I had no idea what I was doing. I made a lot of mistakes the hard way. In this first episode I talk about the biggest, dumbest, most embarrassing mistake I ever made as a filmmaker. Because even when shit hits the fan, there's a lesson to be learned. groundupshow.com
