Linktree: https://linktr.ee/AnalyticAnalytic Dreamz dives into "Batman: Arkham Shadow," released on October 21, 2024, as a sequel to Arkham Origins. Set in Gotham's Blackgate Penitentiary during a Fourth of July crisis, the game features The Rat King as the main antagonist leading a chaos-spreading cult. Experience classic Arkham combat adapted for VR, with gesture-based attacks, stealth, and detective mode through Metroidvania-style exploration. Unique gameplay includes switching between Batman and Bruce Wayne's undercover persona, Matches Malone, in a first-person perspective. The voice cast includes Roger Craig Smith as Batman, alongside Troy Baker, Elijah Wood, and Tara Strong. Exclusively on Meta Quest 3 & 3S, developed by Camouflaj with Rocksteady's support, it's free with Quest 3/3S until April 30, 2025. Despite some launch bugs, it's celebrated for its VR immersion, selling over a million copies by February 2025, and receiving an 87/100 on Metacritic. However, exclusivity and technical issues have sparked controversy. Analytic Dreamz discusses the game's impact on the VR market, potential future titles, and whether it sets a new standard for VR gaming. Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/analytic-dreamz-notorious-mass-effect/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Linktree: https://linktr.ee/AnalyticNotorious Mass Effect: Dive into Batman: Arkham ShadowA VR return to Arkham's dark beginningsThis segment of Notorious Mass Effect delves into the shadows of Gotham City with Batman: Arkham Shadow, the latest installment in the Arkhamverse designed exclusively for Meta Quest 3.Building on Legacy:Arkham Shadow aims to recapture the essence of Rocksteady's iconic trilogy, particularly the atmosphere and psychological horror of Arkham Asylum. Developed by Camouflaj, the studio behind Iron Man VR, the game leverages the expertise of Rocksteady veterans for an authentic Arkham experience.A Younger Dark Knight:Set between Arkham Origins and Arkham Asylum, Shadow features a less experienced, more arrogant Batman. Witness the origins of iconic villains like Scarecrow, Harley Quinn, Two-Face, Ratcatcher, and a young Jim Gordon. The primary antagonist is Ratcatcher, leading a fanatical cult that throws Gotham into chaos.VR Immersion:Prepare for an intense first-person VR experience. Engage in classic Batman activities like gliding, detective work, and brutal combat, all heightened by VR's immersive nature. The game promises exploration, boss battles, investigations, and cinematics, reminiscent of Arkham Asylum's structure. Expect an open-world environment with focused areas for exploration and hidden secrets.Respecting the Legacy:Camouflaj understands the weight of the Arkhamverse. Ryan Payton, the studio head, emphasizes the challenge and privilege of working within the established lore while having the freedom to explore narrative gaps. The team is dedicated to maintaining the series' high standards and interconnectedness. What to Expect Next:A full gameplay reveal is anticipated at Gamescom this August. The recent Summer Game Fest trailer confirmed the return of Roger Craig Smith as Batman and showcased key villains like Scarecrow and Dr. Harleen Quinzel (soon-to-be Harley Quinn).Mark Your Calendars:Batman: Arkham Shadow is slated for a Fall 2024 release, exclusively on Meta Quest 3.A Descent into Darkness:The game is described as having a nightmarish, apocalyptic atmosphere. VR's first-person perspective and horror-focused elements have the potential to make this the scariest Arkham game yet.The Verdict:Batman: Arkham Shadow offers a thrilling return to the series' roots with a fresh VR perspective. Exploring Batman's formative years and the origins of iconic villains, the game boasts a strong development team and a commitment to the franchise's legacy. This week on The Finger Guns Podcast Rossko, Toby and Greg get into the weeks gaming news and for the first time ever talk stocks and bonds and hedge funds with the Reddit takeover of Wall Street. It's not strictly gaming news, but it's fascinating to see where Gamestop sits in the middle of this absolute madness and what the average Joe can learn about stock manipulation when you want video game retailers to stay in business. What a time to be alive. Elsewhere we talk the recent PS Plus announcement that the long-controversial Control Ultimate Edition will now drop as a free upgrade on PS5 after players bought it up beforehand. Are they entitled to a refund? We discuss. Alongside the news that TOBY GOT A PS5(!), we talk another week in which the scalpers have stolen consoles from under the noses of wanting consumers and whether or not it's up to the retailers to ensure it doesn't keep happening. We also pay tribute to Roger Craig Smith, hanging up the red speedy boots of Sonic The Hedgehog after 10 years and discuss his lasting legacy on the character and gaming in general. On this episode, Ken travels to the lair of voice actor Roger Craig Smith to talk about garlic cheese toast potato chips, why you shouldn't get credit for being humble, and his path to voice actor stardom. Also, along for the journey is Roger's old buddy and the editor-in-chief of SchmoesKnow.com Mark Reilly, who returns to the show. The next game in the Batman Arkham series hits next week with 'Batman: Arkham Origins'! But this time there are some changes! Developer Rocksteady Games has given way to Warner Brothers Montreal and both Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill have been replaced as Batman and The Joker! Luckily, I think we're in really good hands, as new Batman voice actor Roger Craig Smith can attest to on this episode as he talks about becoming the Dark Knight, the difference in playing him as opposed to Captain America on Disney's 'Avengers Assemble' and how he got into voice over work to begin with! There's also a ton more, include a call from 'Airwolf' writer David Gorden to talk about the new comic's release and guest co-host Andrew Duvall from SyFy's 'Fangasm'!
