On this episode of Rule the Roost, Jack and Phil reflect on Daniel Levy's Tottenham career following last week's announcement of his departure. Levy built a reputation as a ruthless and cut-throat chairman, but why do we feel strangely sympathetic now he's gone? We also look at the latest Spurs takeover rumours, with reports that two bids have already been turned down, and ask whether a buyout could be on the horizon or if ENIC Tavistock will cling on to power. Elsewhere, we discuss Mathys Tel speaking out after being omitted from the Champions League squad and why we're backing him to bounce back. And for some reason Tom Hardy's Bane voice gets a mention.

“Is it ever too early for pumpkin spice season?” That's the question Sandy and Trisha dive into as they unpack the surprising return of fall flavors in the middle of a Texas summer. From Starbucks' AugustPSL launch to Halloween candy sightings in July, the duo debates whether we're rushing the seasons—or just embracing the chaos. In this lively and laugh-filled episode of The Sandy Show, Sandy and Trisha cover everything from TV and movie sequels (yes, Practical Magic 2 and Devil Wears Prada 2 are happening!) to audiobook fails, including a hilariously underwhelming narration of Bob Dylan's Chronicles by none other than Sean Penn. Spoiler: Trisha thought it was John Mellencamp. You'll also hear:Trisha's “lotto booty call” and her ongoing love-hate relationship with scratch-offs.A passionate defense of Ted Lasso and Schitt's Creek as the ultimate feel-good binges.Sandy's bromance with Tom Hardy—and his brutally honest movie reviews. The genius of a $20 bill wrapped around a Kit Kat bar as the ultimate kid's birthday gift.A hilarious throwback to the “Fruit Cocktail Guy” and his rage over half a cherry.Memorable Quote:“It's more than enough, and they will be thankful for it—for they do not deserve it!” — Fruit Cocktail GuyWhether you're here for the laughs, the pop culture updates, or just to hear Sandy and Trisha's banter, this episode is packed with personality, nostalgia, and a few surprises.

Shout-out to the 412 — we're covering Striking Distance this week in honor of Pittsburgh. After finally explaining the pick and why we're covering it now, Joe reviews the movie's Pittsburgh bona fides. We discuss Bruce Willis as Tom Hardy, Sarah Jessica Parker as “a baddie,” and Tom Sizemore as the film's most egregious red herring. We break down the elements here that work (and the ones that don't), the tumultuous making of this movie, and the killer's illogical frame job on Bruce Willis. We try to make sense of the silly twists and turns in its final act and the film's many red herrings and misdirects. Joe laments something we've lost in modern action movies. Joey notices a reckless disregard for the toxic nature of Pittsburgh river water. We watch the misleading trailer for Striking Distance and stumble across a really bad movie. Who's the best cop now? In this week's show, Dana and Julia are joined by guest host Isaac Butler to go through the A24, bromance looking glass to discuss Friendship, the surreal cringe comedy starring I Think You Should Leave's Tim Robinson and the always friend-crushable Paul Rudd. Next, they share their thoughts on Final Thoughts: Jerry Springer, the new podcast by Prologue Projects and Leon Neyfakh about the improbable and complex story of the infamous talk-show host and one-time progressive politician. Finally, they circle the drain of cultural apocalypse vis-a-vis a conversation on a recent Atlantic piece by Spencer Kornhaber about the possible decline of nothing less than Western culture itself. In an exclusive Slate Plus Bonus Episode about a recent essay by Issac in Slate, Dana and Julia find out how he went from thinking the actor Tom Hardy was a grunting, incomprehensible B-list Brando to a delightful, albeit weird, screen star. Vulture's Kathryn VanArendonk is back to talk about Apple TV+'s Murderbot, and whether the books do a better job of exploring questions of gender and essential humanity without Alexander Skarsgard's Ken-doll crotch confusing matters. Should YOU give it a watch? We went Around The Dial with Overcompensating, Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives, and Leverage: Redemption's third season before Anne offered another variation on the Utahn theme with a Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City Canon Presentation. Kelli Giddish won, Tom Hardy lost, and we all tried to survive the process of Venn-diagramming premiere and finale casting in Game Time. Hack into your governor modules and join us! GUESTS

Summer's here -- at least at the movie theater -- so we've got a jam-packed episode of Breakfast All Day for you. We begin with the movie that's kicking off blockbuster season: "Thunderbolts*," with an asterisk. It's the latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the best one in a long time. We really enjoyed this. In theaters. Next up is "Another Simple Favor," the sequel to the 2018 comic thriller "A Simple Favor." Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick reunite, and while there's not much spark left, the clothes are still spectacular. Streaming on Prime Video. Then, we honor the beautiful work of the late Halyna Hutchins with a review of "Rust." The cinematographer died in an accidental shooting during production on the Western. Now that the film is out -- and that proceeds are going to Hutchins' family -- we wanted to watch and discuss it. In theaters and on VOD. Finally, we catch up with "Havoc," which has been the No. 1 movie on Netflix for some reason. Tom Hardy plays a detective in a drug war between the city's corrupt mayor and its corrupt police department. From the director of "The Raid" movies. Streaming now. Plus, we did a Movie News LIVE! for the last time before Christy's lumpectomy on Monday. We're not sure what May is going to look like, but we wanted to make sure and say hi to our folks one more time. Among the topics we discussed were Jeremy Renner, "Sgt. Rock," John Mulaney's Netflix show and more. We'll keep you posted on our plans through Christy's Saturday Matinee newsletter.
