We all deal with self-doubt. We question our abilities and ultimately our potential to make things happen. We say things like, ‘I am not good enough! Did I make the right decision? What if I cannot handle this?' these are all examples of self-doubt.   Most of the time, we have doubts about ourselves and our capabilities when we are lacking one of two things: confidence or competence.   Past experience and comparing ourselves to others also leads to self-doubt. We also experience self-doubt when we do something new and challenging or something out of our comfort zone. It can also lead to anxiety and depression, as well as interfering with interpersonal relationships. Comparing yourself to others leads to self-doubt…it causes it.   So, an effective way to deal with self-doubt is to compare yourself only to YOU. In other words, compare yourself to who you were yesterday to see how far you have come. For instance: suppose you started your Business 4 month ago. Instead of comparing your success to someone who is further ahead of you, compare your success to when you first started. When you assess your progress, don't forget to celebrate your small wins. As Stefan James says, ‘what gets rewarded, gets repeated'. GAP vs GAIN by Dan Sullivan.   Build Your Self-Confidence to Overcome Doubt   To build confidence you need to remember, it is important to be accepting of your mistakes and failures, as they are part of the learning process. Also try practicing positive self-talk and daily affirmations can also be helpful.   You can make lots of simple choices to build your self-confidence. Just as there are many ways to strengthen your body, there are ways you can increase your resolve by setting small goals, making healthier choices, nurturing your spirit, and finding support. Here are just a few:   Break free of self-sabotaging thoughts and behavior patterns. Expand your knowledge, skills, and experiences. Become physically, mentally, and spiritually healthier. Deepen interpersonal relationships. Most of our doubts, lack of confidence and even imposture syndrome comes from negative thinking and thoughts patterns we have established over time.   Tips for overcoming negative thinking patterns which cause doubt:   Learn to Identify Thought Distortions. On the other hand, if you don't take action, you feel anxious and overwhelmed. So, don't sell yourself short because of your self-doubts.   Instead, learn to focus on the present moment, embrace your doubts and ask yourself ‘what small action I can take today to move towards my goals?'. Then, simply take that action. In so doing, you are not engaging in negative self-talk about something, but you are actually doing this thing. And as you act despite your doubts you feel more confident, empowered, motivated and happy. Make sense?   Finally, It's Important You Sharpen your Skills & Mastery of Your Trade   Often, when you don't know how to achieve something the voice of your self-doubt is louder. In other words, the lack of clarity and competence leads to self-doubt, less confidence and inaction. So, having clarity and competence is vital if you want to deal with self-doubt.   When you don't have clarity on what skills you need, simply think of your goal and identify the key steps that you need to take to achieve it. If you struggle to identify what needs to be done research what successful people in that area are doing and follow their steps. Once you know what needs to be done you can make a plan of action to develop your skills.   If you need to acquire new skills to achieve your goal, be willing to learn those skills. In other words, have a learning mentality. Read books, watch YouTube videos, listen podcasts and audiobooks, attend seminars or sign up for a course.   Whatever it is that you need to learn just take the time to do it. The more you learn, the more competent you become. And with competence comes confidence. When you are confident, you are more likely to take action and make progress regardless of your doubts. Can you see how it all ties together?   Look, we all doubt ourselves and that's okay. It's what we do next that makes all the difference. I hope these tips will start helping you to identify and overcome your self-doubt each day. Self-doubt is normal, but it doesn't have to control your life. When you understand that self-doubt is just a negative thought pattern you can take steps to change it.

Conrad begins by discussing how it is natural to feel self-loathing and wallow in self-pity after making a mistake. However, he argues that it is possible to change this perspective by repenting and renewing one's mind. He cites verses from Ezekiel which talk about how people should loathe themselves for their wicked ways and then goes on to say that when they repent and change their ways, they will know that God is the Lord.Conrad discusses how self-loathing can become a self-perpetuating cycle, and how it is important to break out of that cycle. He talks about how David encouraged himself in the Lord even when he made mistakes, and how we need to do the same.In order to change self loathing into passion, one must first understand what passion is. Passion is not simply an action that is done out of necessity, but rather it is something that is done with excitement and zeal. When operating from a place of self loathing, it is easy to trick oneself into thinking that one must work in order to earn salvation. However, if self loathing is not dealt with, it can lead to a perspective of drudgery in which even working in the field for Jesus can feel like a chore. It is important to change this perspective in order to maintain a healthy attitude towards work and life in general.Conrad talks about how, when he was caught up in depression, the worst thing he could do was to isolate himself. Instead, he found passion by doing what David did and encouraging himself in the Lord. Many of us have an undercurrent of self-doubt running inside. Perhaps it got put in place from a lifetime of others around you doubting you, doubting themselves, or even doubting others. Perhaps it came from a series of life experiences where you thought you knew what you were doing, but then... turns out you didn't.     No matter where it came from, self-doubt is likely to be showing up somewhere in your business. Here is how it shows up in my clients' businesses: Paralyzed. Knowing what needs to be done, but not doing it. Just getting the basics done, but not reaching up for the next level of growth.  Undercharging. Most of my clients are undercharging by significant amounts. Not just $5/hr. Often by 10-50% under what they could be charging, and what the market around them is charging. (I'm not advocating for price-gauging or ripping people off. I'm advocating for you charging what the value of your services is worth to people.) (2b.) Fear of raising rates. "What if people hate me? Will I lose clients? Will they be mad? Are you sure I can do this?" All those questions lead to the fear, that keeps rates stuck where they are.  Trying to do too much. As in, if you can get everything done, and make it all happen, and get your ducks in a row and poop in a scoop, that will somehow prove that you are actually ok. It looks like trying to be super-hero-amaz-a-mom, or any other cape that gets donned.  Stuck in indecision. Can't decide, can't decide, can't decide... do nothing.  Not trusting yourself... that you can handle whatever shows up. See #5, and #1 - they are interconnected. Excellent Game-Face. To cover up faltering self-esteem. Which means you hide out, limit yourself, and don't put yourself out there... so the very people who need you cannot find you or your services.    You can address your self-doubt, and loosen its grip. I have a new podcast to share with you today on the topic of "Falling in Love with Yourself." I feel this is such an important topic because we really do need to value and love ourselves in order to live happy, fulfilled lives where we are able to give back at our fullest capacity and live up to our highest potential.   Just an example from my life yesterday:  I knew I wanted to sit down and record this podcast first thing, but I woke up in a terrible mood.  I had a headache, my muscles were aching in my back, and overall I wasn’t feeling very positive.  Just the thought of sitting down at my computer to record this podcast felt impossible. So instead of forcing myself to do what I didn’t actually have the capacity to do, I paused and checked in with myself. I knew I had a choice: I could dive into work and my to do list and probably have a pretty grumpy day...  OR I could really honor and take care of myself first, even though I had a million things to do on my list. I knew I needed to slow down and take care of myself. So I tidied up my room and chose a YogaGlo class (I highly recommend Yogaglo if you struggle with keeping up a home yoga practice) and I found a class with Elena Brower on how to, "Value yourself to Master Yourself." The whole class was about taking the time to take care of yourself. I realized, "I really need to have an innate sense of value in order to take care of and fall in love with myself..." Owning my innate value has been a big part of my inner work over the last few years, and I have come a long way.  Valuing myself shows up in how much money I earn, how healthy my relationships are, what I choose to wear and how I create the environment around me. What I found was: valuing myself is a choice. And you too can choose to start valuing yourself, right here, right now. After my morning yoga practice and self-care time, I felt SO much better and I sat down to record this podcast feeling so filled up with love that I couldn’t wait to share with you all.
