Israel's election to form the country's next government is less than four weeks away, with voters in Israel going to the polls on Oct. 27. Long serving Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is once again leading the right-wing Likud party's hopes to return to office ,which he has held on and off for nearly 19 of the last thirty years, since 1996. This election comes after Israel's longest war since Independence in 1948, with the Oct. 7 Hamas massacres and resulting wars in Gaza weighing heavily on the voters. Ongoing military campaigns on other fronts including Lebanon, Syria and with Iran are also shaping the campaign. And just this week, Netanyahu appeared at an IDF air force base, vowing to continue hunting down Oct. 7 perpetrators, while warning Israel's enemies not to think about launching an attack on the country to disrupt the elections. So who's likely to win this crucial ballot? Can the diverse left, centre and right opposition slates, with five rival leaders known as "the change bloc" – Gadi Eisenkot, Naftali Bennett, Yair Lapid, Avigdor Liberman and Yair Golan - who met this weekend to seal a joint statement of principals, win enough together to oust Netanyahu, as happened briefly in 2021. Or will the growing religious-Zionist and ultra-Orthodox smaller parties remain strong enough and agree to help send Bibi back to power?And what role will the Arab parties play, now that Israel's election authority just disqualified two of them from the election, for supporting Hamas. Today I have the honor and pleasure of speaking with Benjamin Moser about his new book, Anti-Zionism: A Jewish History. A book of immense historical and geographic reach, Anti-Zionism conveys its arguments through the lives of twelve Jewish anti-Zionists. From the 19th century Polish-Jewish rabbi Aaron Samuel Tamares to the contemporary photographer and activist Nan Goldin, we learn how Jews have fought against the reduction of the traditional, expansive notion of Jewishness open to and in service to the world, to a form of narrow ethno-nationalism, closed off to all how do not subscribe to its genocidal settler colonial logic.  We learn how many of these figures foretold precisely the perpetual cycles of violence Zionism has unleashed. One of the reasons Moser wrote this book is contained in this statement. I offer it as a contribution to the movement by so many noble people who are working to construct an alternative vision of Jewish life, one that is free from racism, nationalism, and militarism. It is an attempt to say, especially to younger people, that we are not the first, and that we do not need to start afresh.Benjamin Moser is the author of Why This World: A Biography of Clarice Lispector, a finalist for the National Book Critics' Circle Award and a New York Times Notable Book of 2009. For his work bringing Clarice Lispector to international prominence, he received Brazil's first State Prize for Cultural Diplomacy. He won a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2017, and Sontag: Her Life and Work won the Pulitzer Prize in 2020. The Upside-Down World: Meetings with the Dutch Masters appeared in 2023. He completed Anti-Zionism: A Jewish History at the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library.

But Gantz insists he is in the race for the long run. Gantz said that he doesn't owe anything to anyone except his own voters. He acknowledges that he won't be prime minister, but says that he can be the bridge between the camps in a broad Zionist unity government. Everything is possible for Israel with a unity government, he said, while no problem can be addressed without one. Netanyahu, he said, needs to be replaced. October 7 was his responsibility, said Gantz, and Netanyahu has also divided Israeli society. He was fairly optimistic about Israel's operations in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran, saying that Israel cannot allow radical forces to build up capabilities that could be used to attack Israel. So some of you may have heard I have 87 days left at my current residence. I did not miss a payment or anything like that. What is going on is they are selling the whole building. So anyone whose contract is up is out. They will just up the new price to impossible levels. Unluckily for me this was right as mine is up.Moving wouldn't be that big a deal only there is nothing else in our area and we really don't want to make the kids change schools. I don't want the hassle packing up and moving somewhere else either. But the main thing the schools. In South Korea there is a housing crisis with no clear solution. This is my beef with all the muh birthrate people. S. Korea has 51,600,000 people on a land mass the size of Iceland. Iceland only has a 300,000 people. That is 130 times less. It is not double not triple, it is one hundred and thirty times more people. You cannot just have indefinite growth when there is a finite amount of land and housing. Korea is smaller than Cuba but has double the population of Florida and some.To make things worse people like anywhere borrow from banks and live beyond their means. This will hurt them in the near future but their irresponsibility hurts responsible people too because prices do go up and stay up as a result of their actions. Proletarian TV | 9 September 2026 Ian Donovan of the consistent democrats speaks at the founding conference of the Antifascist International. The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) is an international organisation essentially consisting of Israel and its Allies. Its core function has been to propagate the IHRA working definition of antisemitism throughout the NATO and 5-eyes countries. While purporting to “fight racism”, so thatva holocaust (Exclusively defined as an act agains the Jews) could never again happen, really it is an amalgam, that mixes two entirely different things - criticism of Israel, and antisemitism - and pretends they are the same thing. Fully seven of the 11 examples of antisemitism are really designed to indemnify Israel of criticism for its ethnic cleansing, apartheid, occupation and genocide. It is a historical fact that at least some Zionists (particularly the revisionist Zionists, led by Jabotinsky and his successors) collaborated extensively with the Nazis, as well as the “allied” imperial powers. Indeed they were also at times to go to war with their principal sponsor (Britain) to achieve their Israeli state based upon its founding genocide - the Nakba of 1948. Moreover, if Israel did NOT behave like the Nazis, it would not be necessary to state in the definition that one must in no account compare the two! But everything changed after the attacks of October 7th, 2023, when she says her Zionism cost her friendships, a rec-league invitation, and access to LGBT community spaces. She eventually did something she never could have imagined: registered to vote as a Republican. Now she's entered politics herself. They talk about West Hollywood's small-city politics, why Tanya opposes new bike lanes on Fountain Avenue (a surprisingly contentious issue), the difference between "safety ambassadors" and actual law enforcement, and a West Hollywood care team's success getting an unhoused, mentally ill woman into treatment and housing. They also get into Prop 47, the limits of housing-first policy, and the DSA's growing influence in LA city politics.
