This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit zeteo.comLast week, Democratic Congresswoman and ‘Squad' member Ilhan Omar became Elon Musk's latest target on Twitter, after he falsely accused her of breaking the law for sharing legal advice to undocumented immigrants. In this interview on ‘Mehdi Unfiltered,' Rep. Omar sits down with Mehdi to discuss Musk's attack on her, as well as the ongoing effort to dismantle federal agencies funded by Congress.“He wakes up lying. He goes to sleep lying,” Omar said. “And frankly, I don't think he understands the laws of this country. I don't think he understands the Constitution. I don't think he understands the power that we have as members of Congress. And I don't think he understands or thinks that people are entitled to rights under the Constitution if he doesn't like them.”Omar slams freshman GOP House Member Brandon Gill who launched his own attack on her by saying that the US would “be a better place” if Omar – a lawmaker and a US citizen! – were deported.“I'm at the point where it's become really hard to have an intellectual debate with any of these people because the level of stupidity that they are displaying every single day is frankly embarrassing,” Omar tells Mehdi.Since the interview took place, Rep. Gill has doubled down on his attacks on the congresswoman, urging his supporters to sign a petition for her deportation in a fundraising email.Omar also criticizes Trump and Musk's claims of massive fraud in the government agencies they are attempting to shut down.“No one has shown us a single example of the fraud that he's [Musk] finding. What ‘fraud' is, is what we as members of Congress debated and decided to fund legally. That to him is fraud,” Omar says.Watch the full interview to hear Rep. Omar discuss the need for the Democratic Party to get more aggressive and use the leverage it has; Trump's plan for the US to illegally take control of Gaza; and JD Vance's suggestion that the White House can simply ignore court rulings against Trump's executive orders. It's a fascinating and wide-ranging interview. Progressive members are growing frustrated with Democratic leadership's constant moves to suppress good, progressive bills in favor of bills helping the corporate donor base. 8:51-39:30: Rep. Emily Dievendorf Interview Democratic State Rep. Emily Dievendorf (D-Lansing) joins the show this week. The Representative introduced progressive, common sense bills on affordable housing, a homeless bill of rights, and helping families keep their land and homes. However, those bills can't get a vote on the House floor in the lame duck so far because they are either being pushed aside for other bills, or because of political games. Rep. Dievendorf also shares her frustrations on how "centrist" Democrats held-up many good, progressive bills designed to help Michiganders, and rather concentrated on corporate interests instead. 39:31-45:00: Last Call on Disgusting Nancy Mace Pat's "Last Call" covers how South Carolina MAGA Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace introduced a resolution this week that would bar transgender women from using women's bathrooms in the U.S. Capitol. This disgusting move by Mace is being done because a transgender Democratic Congresswoman will soon be in Congress. However, Democrats are also to blame since their silence on trans-rights issues this election year allowed Republicans to bully trans-Americans. And now, these MAGA Republicans feel even more emboldened to attack another group of marginalized Americans. 44:53-47:18: Ending Please, subscribe to the podcast, download each episode, and give it a good review if you can! leftoflansing@gmail.com Left of Lansing is now on YouTube as well! leftoflansing.com

We're live in Philadelphia - where they're holding their first joint rally - and ask a leading Democratic Congresswoman why the man who branded Donald Trump "weird" can help defeat the former Republican president and his running mate, JD Vance. We hear from one immigration lawyer who's been targeted. And the star pianist couple - originally from Russia - on artistic freedom in the land they left behind.
Efforts by centrist and left-wing blocs in France to stop the far right National Rally from winning an overall parliamentary majority in next Sunday's second round have seen more than 150 of their candidates drop out. Such tactics -- traditionally known as a 'Republican Front' -- have been successful in previous elections. We speak to one of President Macron's Ministers. Also in the programme: Donald Trump has hailed as a 'big win' for democracy the Supreme Court's ruling giving him substantial immunity from prosecution for actions taken in his former role as president. The Republicans are telling us their plans for America's future and it is terrifying. The Democrats, in contrast, are vocally offering the opposite. Where the last Democratic House was the most effective in modern American history, passing more legislation passed than any Congress since FDR's New Deal, the current Republican House has been the least effective, least cohesive since the Civil War. The American people deserve better than obstructionists playing games with our time and money. We are joined today by Minority Whip Katherine Clark, to hear an insider perspective on the 118th Congress and why returning power to the grown ups in the room in so essential to the success of our nation. On the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade, a local Democratic Congresswoman warns of what's at stake in 2024 when it comes to abortion rights
On Thursday, a curious incident unfolded involving President Biden. During a photography session, the President seemed to mix up the identity of one lady present with that of a Democratic Congresswoman from North Carolina, who was notably absent from the event. Observers watched, intrigued as the events unfolded. The President poised for a photograph with a lady present, when suddenly, it appeared that he had mistaken her for a Democratic Congresswoman from North Carolina. Interestingly, the Congresswoman was not present at the gathering. The event has drawn attention due to its unusual circumstance. The President was engaged in a photo-taking session with a woman, during which he seemingly confused her for a North Carolina Democratic representative. Meanwhile, the congresswoman in question was nowhere to be found at the occasion. Upon closer inspection of Thursday's interesting happenings, it seems the President, during a photo taking moment, made an unexpected mix-up. He apparently misidentified a woman with whom he was taking a photograph for a Democratic Congresswoman from the state of North Carolina, a figure who was, in fact, not in attendance.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What a disgrace. This Democratic Congresswoman from Missouri doesn't just lay out a horrendous blood libel against the Jewish State of Israel, she praises an anti-American, anti-police black lives matter activist, all in the same speech. Politicians like this are a danger to America and all Americans, not just to American Jews.

The priority for many Democratic voters in the most recent election cycle was removing President Donald Trump from the White House. This was clear after a crowded primary field coalesced around Joe Biden. But the world is a different place than it was in March and because the election cycle was dominated by the ongoing pandemic and economic crisis, it was difficult for other issues to gain traction. But for younger voters, environmental justice and climate policy are a top priority. Climate change has animated a generation of voters, many of whom spent months making calls and texts to swing states, even though Joe Biden was not their first choice nominee. These voters are paying close attention to who Biden appoints to his cabinet and to lead agencies as a means to gauge how seriously he’ll be taking their top issue. Throughout his time in office, President Trump aggressively went after more than 100 environmental rules aimed at protecting the integrity of water, land, and air. While President-elect Biden will have the ability to issue executive orders at his disposal, there’s division within his own party about how aggressive he should be on the issue. Coral Davenport, energy and environmental policy reporter at The New York Times, Jody Freeman, law professor at Harvard University and former counselor for energy and climate change in the Obama White House, and Waleed Shahid, spokesperson for the Justice Democrats describe how the Biden administration might proceed with pursuing climate change policy in a hyperpolarized political landscape. As part of our continuing series with the freshman members of the 117th Congress, host Amy Walter spoke with Democratic Congresswoman-elect Marilyn Strickland from Washington and Republican Congresswoman-elect Ashley Hinson from Iowa. They both share what they’re hoping to accomplish in their first term and how they plan on working through partisan gridlock. You can hear extended conversations with the newest members of congress here.

The big-tent message from the Democrats on night one of their virtual convention was clear: from socialists to Republicans, a diverse coalition of speakers took turns talking about the urgent need to defeat President Trump. She got her start as an organizer and activist, eventually leaving her job as a physician assistant to start her own nonprofit addressing the HIV/AIDS and crack cocaine epidemics ravaging her community. Rep. Bass joined David to talk about what she views as racist tactics used by the Trump campaign, regretful comments she's made in her past, the “surreal” process of being vetted for vice president, and why her parents would be terrified. Michigan has been in the spotlight lately. Besides being considered a key battleground state in this year's upcoming presidential election, it has also been at the center of the debate over reopening the economy and lockdown restrictions. Rep. Elissa Slotkin represents Michigan's 8th district and she joined host Jessica Rosenthal on the Rundown this week to discuss the news coming out of her state and her own reelection campaign. The Democratic Congresswoman defended some of the restrictions her state put on businesses, but said she sympathized with her constituents who believes some limitation went too far. The former CIA analyst also weighed in on the controversy surrounding the Michael Flynn investigation, suggesting anyone who illegally leaked material related to the case surrounding the former national security adviser should be held accountable. Rep. Slotkin was candid and discussed a lot of issues. Because of time, we could not include the entire conversation in our original segment. On the Fox News Rundown Extra, you will hear our full interview with Rep. Slotkin. Some of the exclusive content includes the moderate Democrat looking back at her vote to impeach President Trump earlier this year and her belief it could cost her job come November. Creating a place to have a conversation instead of yelling at each other is one reason why NCGA CEO Jon Doggett started this podcast. And in this episode, he takes that philosophy to one of the most contentious places in America—Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. From the Congressional office of Virginia Rep. Abigail Spanberger, Jon interviews the Democratic Congresswoman and her Republican colleague, South Dakota Rep. Dusty Johnson, about what it takes to bridge the partisan divide in Washington. As members of the bipartisan “Problem Solvers Caucus,” Spanberger and Johnson discuss their efforts to pass the USMCA trade agreement and find common ground on other topics that are important, not just to farmers, but to Americans nationwide. They’re also joined by NCGA Vice President of Public Policy Brooke Appleton.
Republican Iraq refugee Dalia Al-Aqidi announced earlier this year she is running for Congress to unseat Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN). This week we interviewed Hillary Scholten who is eyeing to become the first Democratic Congresswoman in West Michigan's history (and first congresswoman since the mid-50s). Hillary shared many elements of her platform, but more than that, she described why she believes what she does. We also talked about the challenges she faces in this election because she's a woman and the uniqueness of a three-party race. It was a fascinating and inspiring conversation. The wine we drank today was Unlitro by Ampeleia, a natural wine from Italy. This tasty, single-vineyard red is fantastic, zesty, and only $20! On this episode of Polemics Report for November 8, 2019, JD handles the news of the day including FBC Naples' persecution of discerning believers, a Democratic Congresswoman saying to "F_____ Private and Religous Schools," the Vatican placing a giant Molech statue at the Colosseum entrance, and John Crist. JD also explains that John Crist will only be taking a break for about two months, and then gets into James MacDonald and men capitalizing on their moral failures and encourages "fallen" pastors to go get a job. Then, JD handles news as it's coming in. Seth Dunn released a letter from FBC Naples' LGBTQ law firm sending "Cease and Desist" letters to members opposed to Social Justice and those communicating with P&P. The law firm quoted the Scripture, but Paul's prohibition against lawsuits to the Corinthians was not one of them. Then, JD shares some novel theories on menstruation. Representative Katie Hill, a Democratic Congresswoman serving California’s 25th Congressional District, has resigned in light of allegations of sexual misconduct with one of her staffers. The allegations come in the wake of the #MeToo movement, which shed light on countless sexual misconduct allegation across people in powerful positions in media, entertainment, tech, and more. Some critiC’s are calling Rep Hill’s hasty resignation unnecessary because, after all, men in her position do the exact same thing all the time, and their careers rarely ever suffer for it. Recently, Representative John Conyers of Michigan passed away; before he died, he too resigned from office in light of sexual misconduct allegations. However, his resignation came after serving for decades, and he still had an illustrious, robust political career before he left office. Are women in positions of power held to higher moral standards than their male counterparts? Is there a double standard of sexual misconduct for women? Or, in the age of #MeToo, should women be held to the same standards as men when sexual misconduct allegations arise? --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/harrietcammock/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/harrietcammock/support
On today's show we get into the latest fake left-wing outrage, this time over the President's accurate use of the word "lynching" in a metaphor about impeachment. Also, Democratic Party bigwigs are unsatisfied with their choices for a nominee and want another option. Meanwhile, a Democratic Congresswoman had a 3-way relationship with a young staffer, and California's liberal Governor doesn't appear to understand how gasoline taxes and regulations work. Democrats were beside themselves with anger because President Trump accurately used the word lynching to describe impeachment. This outrage apparently caused them to forget their long history of doing the same thing, including Joe Biden. We have all the audio and recall the history of lynching, how it dates back to early in human history and was not exclusive to any race. When it was directed toward one race in this country, it was a terror tactic of one political party - the Democratic Party. That's something Democrats forgot to mention when pretending to be upset yesterday. We remind them. Big money Democrats want another option for their party's nomination. The New York Times recounts how rich donors, who really run the party, want someone else to enter the race. Who? Maybe Michael Bloomberg, or even Hillary Clinton. How can a party with more choices than any party has ever had not be satisfied? We get into it. Democratic Congresswoman Katie Hill is going through a divorce, and as is often the case in such things ,the dirty laundry from her marriage is coming out. Turns out Hill and her soon to be ex-husband were kind of swingers, involving young staffers in their sex lives. We have all the details and how Hill is shamelessly pretending to be the victim here while the #MeToo movement is oddly disinterested.California Governor Gavin Newsom wants oil companies investigated to find out why gas is so expensive is his state. Taxes and excessive regulation might have something to do with that. We explain how these things work to the Democrat.
This week, new information about President Trump’s interactions with foreign governments have rattled Washington, D.C. While the White House works on beating back the impeachment inquiry, members of Congress are home in their districts checking in with constituents. This task might prove difficult for those representing districts that have supported the president in the past, like Democratic Congresswoman Elaine Luria from Virginia. Representative Luria joined Politics with Amy Walter to discuss why she decided to support the impeachment inquiry and the response she's received from constituents in a district that voted for Donald Trump in 2016. DC-based reporters Yamiche Alcindor of PBS and MSNBC and Rachael Bade of The Washington Post contextualize the ongoing impeachment proceedings. Tim Alberta from Politico chronicles the transformation of the Republican Party and historian Timothy Naftali demonstrates the role of bipartisanship during past impeachments. Amy's Final Take This week, we also got our first polls taken since House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the House was starting a formal impeachment inquiry. Here’s what they show: Even as support for impeachment has grown, opinions about how the president is doing his job are virtually unchanged. In other words, as we’ve seen over the last 2 plus years, voters are pretty locked into how they feel about this president and there’s nothing that has been able to alter that. This is different from what we saw back during the Nixon impeachment. Back then, as support for impeachment rose, Nixon’s approval rating dropped. While support for impeaching Trump is basically at the same point it was with Nixon in 1974, Trump’s job approval rating is 41 percent Nixon’s was just 25 percent. It is a testament to just how much more polarized the electorate is today than it was 45 years ago. And, a reminder that even as more and more information about Trump’s interactions with Ukraine are revealed — much of it is getting to Americans through partisan, biased filters like social media and cable news - making it harder and harder for any sort of ‘consensus’ to be found either among members of Congress - or the electorate. And, we end up where we’ve been all along. A divided country, more deeply and firmly entrenched than ever. And, those who aren’t as politically engaged or aligned, struggling to make sense of it all. Opening music: I Think Like Midnight
Shirley Chisholm was the first black woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and the first woman to seek the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. A lifelong advocate for racial and gender equality, she is recognized as one of the 20th century’s greatest champions for civil rights. Chisholm was in Brooklyn in 1924 to a working-class Caribbean family and graduated from Brooklyn College in 1946 before receiving her master’s in elementary education from Columbia University. While working as a daycare director and educational consultant early in her career, Chisholm embedded herself in activism, becoming involved in local political clubs such as the Bedford-Stuyvesant Political League, the League of Women Voters, and the Brooklyn branch of the National Association of College Women. Chisholm's historic journey as a public servant began when she was elected to the New York State Assembly in 1965, where she served for three years. In the Assembly, Chisholm became known as a strong fighter for the civil rights of workers, immigrants, and women. In an upset victory, Chisholm was elected as the Democratic Congresswoman of New York’s 12th district in 1968. During her fourteen-year tenure in Congress, Chisholm was known as “Fighting Shirley Chisholm” and became a staunch advocate for healthcare, education, and social services issues. She befriended her ideological opponents, remained close to activist communities, and advanced the civil rights movement. Chisholm made history when she launched a campaign for president in 1971. Her campaign theme was “unbossed and unbought,” and promised to fight for social justice and economic issues that affected marginalized communities. Her campaign was met with prejudice from members of both political parties, and she was blocked from participating in televised primary debates. However, despite discrimination and an underfinanced campaign, Chisholm won 152 delegate votes at the 1972 Democratic National Convention. Although her campaign was unsuccessful, Chisholm continued to fight for progressive policies in Congress before retiring in 1983 to teach at Mount Holyoke College. Since her passing in 2005, Chisholm continues to serve as an inspiration and is credited as a trailblazer for women and people of color in politics. She was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the Shirley Chisholm State Park opened in Brooklyn in 2019. Later this year, she will be portrayed in the upcoming film “The Fighting Shirley Chisholm” and television series “Mrs. America.”

Former CIA Case Officer Phil Giraldi returns to 'Fault Lines' to discuss Gabbard's foreign policy views, why much of the establishment media has chosen to cover Gabbard's candidacy in a negative light, and how President Trump has betrayed his campaign platform with regards to the handling of international affairs. Much of the mainstream media shows a great deal of support for large corporate interests, and as a result of this trend, these media outlets tend to be hostile towards politicians and candidates who go against these views. Tim Canova, a Former Candidate for Congress in Florida, faced this type of negative coverage, and he joins today's show to talk about his experience with the mainstream media, the importance of making election integrity a major issue, and the role that the Democratic Party establishment will play in the 2020 Democratic Primary election. They also talk about the countries that the United States is allied with in the Middle East and the brutal nature of some of these regimes.

On January 13, 1972, Wallace declared himself a Democratic candidate, entering the field with George McGovern, 1968 nominee Hubert Humphrey, and nine other Democratic opponents. In Florida's primary, Wallace carried every county to win 42 percent of the vote; another of his opponents was John V. Lindsay, the liberal mayor of New York City, who had switched from Republican affiliation to enter the Democratic presidential primaries. In the 1972 campaign, Wallace announced that he no longer supported segregation and had always been a "moderate" on racial matters. This position was an echo of Nixon, who in 1969 had instituted the first Affirmative Action program, the Philadelphia Plan that established goals and timetables. However, Wallace expressed continued opposition to desegregation busing. For the next four months, Wallace's campaign proceeded extremely well. However, it came to an abrupt halt on May 15, 1972, when he was shot five times by Arthur Bremer while campaigning at the Laurel Shopping Center in Laurel, Maryland, at a time when he was receiving high ratings in national opinion polls. Bremer was seen at a Wallace rally in Wheaton, Maryland, earlier that day and two days earlier at a rally in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Wallace was hit in the abdomen and chest, and one of the bullets lodged in Wallace's spinal column, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of his life. A five-hour operation was needed that evening, and Wallace had to receive several pints of blood in order to survive. Three others who were wounded in the shooting also survived. Bremer's diary, An Assassin's Diary, published after his arrest, shows he was motivated in the assassination attempt by a desire for fame, not by political ideology. He had considered President Nixon as an earlier target. He was convicted at trial. On August 4, 1972, Bremer was sentenced to 63 years in prison, later reduced to 53 years. Bremer served 35 years and was released on parole on November 9, 2007. Following the assassination attempt, Wallace was visited at the hospital by Democratic Congresswoman and presidential primary rival Shirley Chisholm,[55] a representative from Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. At the time, she was the nation's only African-American female member of Congress. Despite their ideological differences and the opposition of Chisholm's constituents, Chisholm felt visiting Wallace was the humane thing to do. Other people to visit Wallace in hospital were President Nixon, Vice President Spiro Agnew, Hubert Humphrey, George McGovern and Ted Kennedy. He also received telegrams from former President Lyndon Johnson, future president Ronald Reagan and Pope Paul VI. After the shooting, Wallace won primaries in Maryland and Michigan, but his near assassination effectively ended his campaign. From his wheelchair, Wallace spoke on July 11, 1972, at the Democratic National Convention in Miami Beach, Florida. Since Wallace was out of Alabama for more than 20 days while he was recovering in Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland, the state constitution required Lieutenant Governor Jere Beasley to serve as acting governor from June 5 until Wallace's return to Alabama on July 7. Wallace resumed his gubernatorial duties and easily won the 1974 primary and general election, when he defeated Republican State Senator Elvin McCary, a real estate developer from Anniston, who received fewer than 15 percent of the ballots cast.[56] In 1992, when asked to comment on the 20th anniversary of his attempted assassination, Wallace replied, "I've had 20 years of pain."[57] Information sourced from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Wallace Body Sourced From; https://youtu.be/wLkCY0f73iE Public Access America PublicAccessPod Productions Footage edited by PublicAccessPod producer of Public Access America Podcast Links Review us Stitcher: goo.gl/XpKHWB Review us iTunes: goo.gl/soc7KG Subscribe GooglePlay: goo.gl/gPEDbf Join us on YouTube goo.gl/xrKbJb

This episode is a long run, 8 miles with U.S. Congresswoman, Kyrsten Sinema. I recorded this interview back in January, just two days after Donald Trump's inauguration. I actually never intended to release it. Kyrsten is a good friend and was visiting New York. And I just wanted to test out my new podcast recorder and practice interviewing someone. But I think our conversation is very timely for what's going on in our country right now. Kyrsten, a Democratic Congresswoman, has been elected three times in a red-leaning district in a red state, Arizona. She has a lot to share with us about practicing empathy and what she calls “radical acceptance”. Thanks to Kyrsten for allowing me to release this rehearsal episode.
