This week's episode centres on the murky, oft overlooked and eternally understudied subject of Pre-Event and Performance Testing, an essential undertaking for any rally team seeking to make its mark in any given championship, from the Clubman level right up to the WRC. Joining us to help demystify this dense, delightfully technical subject we're delighted to once more welcome Richard Browne, the former Prodrive and current VW Motorsport engineer - and the individual who helped us debut Rally DNA way back at the start of the year. Richard was kind enough to give us almost an hour and a half of his valuable time to discuss the intricacies of test schedules, component destruction testing, the influence a driver's personality and experience can make on how a given PET plays out, and much else besides. It all makes for a fascinating insight into a world most of us will have precious little first-hand experience of and probably seldom think of, yet one that's a key component of successful rallying in the modern era. Be sure to follow/subscribe to Rally DNA on your preferred platform so you can be notified of new episodes and if you gave us a rating and review we would really appreciate it!

In our seventh episode Gordon May, Royal Enfield Historian and Overland Traveler, and our host for this episode speaks with three riders from South Africa who have had numerous adventures and fascinating experiences on their Classic motorcycles. Joining him in this episode are Fred Strydom - Based out of Mossel Bay, Fred rides a 2016 Classic 500 Chrome which he has personalized with a few custom bits and affectionately named it Brumby after Elyne Mitchell's novel The Silver Brumby. Some of the bits he's added on the motorcycle range from a custom exhaust, Clubman handlebars, Metzler Tourance tyres and a self-made headlight grill besides tons of handcrafted leather accessories which add to the classic appeal of the motorcycle. In his twenty years of riding, he's had five different motorcycles and always found them feeling like machines till he laid his hands on the Classic and discovered that this motorcycle had a 'personality. He finds his Classic closer to a living animal demanding attention and endlessly generous with what it has to give. He strongly believes that once that bond is forged between the Classic and its rider, it's next to impossible to break it Lesley-Ann Green - Lesley has had have had several bikes but loves her Classic 500 as she finds it something very different from the other machines she has ever seen. And to boot, she has 2 Classics which she says is described as a touch of madness coined by her fellow biking friends. Many of her motorcycle adventure moments have been around her Royal Enfield Classic, moments of unadulterated joy as she calls them. She remembers showing up at the South African touring company RETZA in her pink skirt, blue denim, and adventure riding boots to check out the motorcycle which became her 2nd Classic 500 . Her first one was a maroon-chrome Classic 500 and she added another Black to her kitty. Keith Robbertze - A resident of Cape Town, South Africa, Keith rides a black Classic 500 black adorned with some custom detailing. He is not new to the world of Royal Enfield and has had great adventures on his Bullet earlier, riding around the countryside in Swartberg along with his other biker friends on adventure bikes. For him, a ride up any difficult hill to climb on top and admire the view around is much like a million dollars. His enthusiasm is so inspiring that recently his son also bought himself a Royal Enfield Classic 500 so that both of them can ride together. There's no stopping Keith when he gets started with stories about his customized Classic and his numerous adventures on the motorcycle as evident in this podcast too. Do join us for the next Timeless Classic episode when we speak to more riders across the world and get to hear their interesting stories and experiences on their Royal Enfield Classic motorcycle. Over the years he has worked with other race teams, including assisting Colin Thorpe to run Ralt RT1, Argo JM6, Chevron B34, B38, B47 and March 773 F3 cars in the British F3 Vandervell Championship and European F3 Championships, and other F3 and F2 cars in the Monoposto Championship, winning this Championship outright in 1982 and 1984. At the end of the day, they're our customers from the point of view of the club organizing the meeting”.‘When I was 14, I started marshalling at Snetterton as a flag marshal/Incident marshal which you could in those days at that age. There were no such things as safety cars, red flags and if there was an incident, we jumped down off the bank and dealt with it right in the middle of the actual race.'‘It's basically very similar to the race director role in F1. You're having to make decisions based on what you're seeing happen, dealing with sudden changes of circumstance.'‘I'm not one of those Clerks of the Course that locks myself in a dark room all day and never talks to drivers unless I'm printing out a judicial form with a penalty. What I really enjoy is the part of getting out in the paddock.'‘I do find is one that helps to build a degree of respect between the competitors and the Clerks in that we actually try to understand their situation.'‘We want to get the right answers for all the drivers concerned and make sure that everybody gets their full enjoyment of the meeting in the right manner.'Support for this podcast comes from Broad Town Brewery – the microbrewery in Wiltshire with big ambitions. www.broadtownbrewery.co.uk Sound Editor: Matias De EzcurraProducer: Sue Stockdale

We talk about the price of gas and at Jalopnik about the actual price of fuel over the years. It is definitely worth the read. Lucía Castellano Vega and Inés Mongil Echandi is the team of directors behind the lovely short doc., Clubman 13.3.13. The piece trails one man whose work ethic, dignity, and elegance reveals itself by his own words and actions. For over sixty-years, this man devoted himself to men’s wear. His sense of honor and duty reflected. The story is so simple it feels like a caress, a gesture. What gets us up each day? How come we live and for what? What is our purpose? How does time change and alter what we do and focus on? What happens when circumstances change and we must take a different course? Clubman 13.3.13 addresses these themes. A poetic story about lifelong commitments but also about a changing labor market and workforce. The protagonist holds to his work ethic because he knows only it, will save him. As long as he has his will to live there is always something to do. Inés and I talk life, finding stories, elegance, and dignity. #clubman13313 #clubman #santurce #shortdoc #womendirectors #work #menswear

Is it Love?”, oggi a quella domanda possiamo rispondere “Yes!”.
