This was a first! As you might know by now, we had the pleasure of teaming up with YHS and hosting the very first SMACK Live! #podcast event with Patrick Mendes, CEO at ACCOR for Premium, Midscale & Economy in Europe and North Africa. Patrick shared a lot of insights with Fritz and the students at EHL about his career path (which he actually started off by quitting #hospitality and the #hotelbusiness), and the possibilities the ACCOR world has to offer but especially the “PME” – Premium, Midscale and Economy sector, which seems to be generally, slightly underrated. He talked about his personal experience in Latin America and about heartfelt topics that he likes to personally support such as #diversity and #inclusion. The adventures he witnessed in #hoteldevelopment from the West to the East and of course also about what's cooking at ACCOR's development these days, as well as #paris2024 and #loyaltyprograms. Patrick lifted the secrets about ACCOR's vast structure of brands and regions and answered a gazillion questions from the students during a live Q&A and in individual chats after the recording. Do listen closely to what he says about #worklifebalance, especially if you are aiming for a #clevel position! Best now, if you tune in to the episode yourself! Enjoy the show!

In Episode 68, I welcomed back to the podcast, brothers Duncan and Neil Campbell to talk about their continued ability to make a profit from betting on golf.Operating together as 'Golf Betting Club', they talk me through how they use their extensive experience, nous and ability to find profitable edges not just from pre-tournament bets but also crucially - in play betting. It is this unique and often overlooked in play angle - betting during the 4 days of a tournament (or 3 for Liv Golf) that sets them apart from many other golf punters and tipsters and they share plenty of insight into how exactly they use it to turn a profit. We also get into the operation of their successful service, from tipping late into strong markets on a Wednesday, betting with exchanges and using and settling to fair odds and terms that everyone can obtain at scalable stakes.Neil and Duncan also outline their take on the changes in the golf world at the moment following Jon Rahm's move to Liv golf and why all this uncertainty can ultimately be a long-term positive from a betting perspective.(00:00) Introducing the Golf Betting Club(01:55) About Duncan & Neil - their dynamic, how they balance betting & tipping with other work and balancing work and life with a time consuming business(04:48) Watching tournaments to find value and keep abreast of player performance(07:54) Getting on, exchanges and the challenges of backing value once you have found it(08:40) Place terms, the timing of bets and balancing value with attainability for members(11:10) Tipsters betting on Mondays and how GBC's approach is different with 'Best', 'Tracked' and 'Minimum' prices all provided for their subscribers(13:30) Betting in-play and why the Campbells often prefer it over pre-tournament action(14:39) Exotic markets, 3-balls and the edges available outside of the core markets(15:53) How player profiling can help with in-play betting, especially for those players consistently disrespected by the markets(22:47) Reflecting on performance, planned improvements and changes in the golf betting markets(24:35) LIV, The PGA Tour, The DPWT and how the politics of golf may well offer up betting opportunities(28:51) Statistics, popular metrics and how the Campbells have their own approaches to assessing players, especially when they play on different tours(31:08) Pre-event vs. in play & using the first round to gauge whether a player makes the shortlist(33:39) Variance, losing runs and dealing with this (as both tipsters and punters)(35:48) Where to find GBC and how to access their content (much of which is free!)(37:25) Predictions for 2024 and beyondDiscover More:Join Golf Betting Club via SBC and save up to £50 on membership https://smartbettingclub.com/golf-betting-club/Learn more on the Smart Betting Club and how we help winning bettors at https://smartbettingclub.com/ Podcast feedback - contact SBC on twitter @sbcinfoRead more about each SBC Podcast episode: https://smartbettingclub.com/the-smart-betting-club-podcast/Watch a video of this interview on the SBC YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/SmartBettingClub

Events are so prevalent in our marketing mixes, but with all of the manual work that goes into not only the event day logistics but also in the event invites and comms - if you don't have processes, a central platform or systems to follow it's easy to forget crucial steps and risk the success of the whole event before it's even begun! In this episode I draw on my experience from years of event planning (as a marketer!) and all the problems I need to overcome to ensure both the guests and the team have everything that's needed and I talk about the key areas that are most important to me.This is a great example of something that often falls into the laps of general marketers and so it's ideal to be thinking about all of these things for when it inevitably is your turn to do this!

Dann immer her damit. This week's episode centres on the murky, oft overlooked and eternally understudied subject of Pre-Event and Performance Testing, an essential undertaking for any rally team seeking to make its mark in any given championship, from the Clubman level right up to the WRC. Joining us to help demystify this dense, delightfully technical subject we're delighted to once more welcome Richard Browne, the former Prodrive and current VW Motorsport engineer - and the individual who helped us debut Rally DNA way back at the start of the year. Richard was kind enough to give us almost an hour and a half of his valuable time to discuss the intricacies of test schedules, component destruction testing, the influence a driver's personality and experience can make on how a given PET plays out, and much else besides. It all makes for a fascinating insight into a world most of us will have precious little first-hand experience of and probably seldom think of, yet one that's a key component of successful rallying in the modern era. Be sure to follow/subscribe to Rally DNA on your preferred platform so you can be notified of new episodes and if you gave us a rating and review we would really appreciate it! We all get them. We all feel them. That pit that nervous excitement that is a mix, excitement, anticipation, fear, nerves etc. You know the feeling we are talking about the pre-event jitters. Some times these jitters can seem over powering and almost cripling. These jitters have stopped people from going to events! My rant today is all about embrassing those jitters and looking at all of the value you they add. The additional conversations they cause you to have with your SO . The extra planning and being ready for different situations. ALL GOOD THINGS IN THE LIFESTYLE. Yep I am saying the jitters you feel are a good thing.
