Mark Borax has been a nomadic poet his whole life. In the late seventies he traveled the U.S. and Canada performing and selling his poetry. In the mid-eighties, Mark was befriended by his adolescent idol, writer Ray Bradbury, who became his literary godfather, believing in Mark's writing even though it was taking forever. In 1984 he became a comic book writer and the managing editor of Comics Interview magazine. In 1998 Mark rode his Harley Davidson Low Rider, through the U.S. and Europe, stopping for a year in the Tuscan countryside of Northern Italy. Mark's first book, 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future, is a bestseller that describes the author's seven-year apprenticeship to visionary astrologer Ellias Lonsdale. Mark's new book (co-authored with Ellias) is a Cosmic Weather Report that inspires readers to rethink the whole purpose of humankind and bring on a new future. Mark isn't like other astrologers—in fact, he's not like many other people on this earth. Since the late 1970's, he's been collecting adventures and spiritual wisdom as a poet, writer, world traveler, and finally, as an astrologer. His journey into astrology began with his apprenticeship under Ellias Lonsdale, an experience which inspired Mark's first best-selling book, 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future, which told the story of his life with Ellias. He continued writing, encouraged by his childhood-idol-turned-friend, Ray Bradbury, and used his growing astrological knowledge to co-author his second book, Cosmic Weather Report, with Ellias, a book that inspires readers to rethink the whole purpose of humankind and bring on a new future. While writing remains a vocation for him, he spends a large chunk of time offering his astrological services to clients and students. Starting in the 80's, he and Ellias created a new form of astrology called Star Genesis, which helps people contact their core nature and life purpose. Then in 1987, Mark and his wife founded the College of Visionaries and Wizards, an online school that teaches students to read astrology charts in the deepest, most soulful way. In that same year, 1987, he created Soul Level Astrology to free the core nature of human beings and he's since done thousands of private sessions for people around the world. Mark is a dynamic and provocative author, counselor, teacher, public speaker, musician and songwriter, whose humorous, compassionate and startling insights inspire others to awaken their soul force. You can learn more about Mark at https://markborax.com/, and you can learn more about his books and services here: https://markborax.com/books/. His third book, The Ruby Heart of the Dragon, which contains a radical revision of the 12 sun signs, is set to be released this year. ------------------------------- Watch Path 11 TV wherever you want, on the iPhone, AppleTV, Android, Amazon Fire, and Roku Apps.

This week, Gerry Duggan joins the AIPT Comics podcast to discuss his new Kickstarter Timing/Luck! We dig into his passion for photography, the inspirations of the book, and how it differs from writing. You can back Timing/Luck here (just 11 days left to back it!). We also discuss his highly anticipated series The Invincible Iron Man, and what to expect from his upcoming comedy one-shot Halloween Party with Brian Posehn and Scott Koblish. We also run through the Colbert Questionnaire (revealing the full spectrum of his human experience)! Here's a rundown of the questions Gerry answers:As of the air time of this interview, Timing/Luck has 11 days left to back on Kickstarter, featuring scenes in Hollywood, from behind the scenes in comics, and street photography, how many years of work does this book span?Is there different itch photography scratches for you outside of writing comics? There's something solitary about writing, and maybe even as a photographer as you're behind the lens so to speak, what motivates you to put yourself out there in your photography and your comics writing? You also got Halloween Party coming out October 12, 2022, with Brian Posehn and Scott Koblish, why must Scotch McTiernan's story continue in this adventure after your 4:20 special?!I'd be remiss not to ask about you kicking off Invincible Iron Man with Juan Frigeri in December, how long has this project been in the works? Are there any story arcs fans should pick up to prepare for your run? When writing comedy, big team books like X-Men, or solo heroes like Iron Man, do you have any methods to getting into the right mindset, be it a mood board of imager, or music?[caption id="attachment_451509" align="aligncenter" width="680"] The cover to Timing/Luck.[/caption]It's tantalizing to know Timing/Luck peers behind the curtain showing comics creators, actors, and regular people behind the curtain, so to speak, so I was wondering if we could run through the Colbert Quesionairre so that you can be known, to the listeners, would that be okay? (Pause) Now, this was initially announced as a 10-issue series. Did you always have more stories in the tank if it were to get renewed, or did you expand your original plans when you got confirmation of more issues? You recently mentioned on Twitter that you're drawn to writing characters who give us "a unique window unto humanity, people — why we are the way that we are." What is it about the Swamp Thing - and Levi Kamei, in particular - that lends itself to telling those kinds of stories?Themes of familial duty and colonialism have been an especially strong component of the last few issues. Was that part of your original conception of the series, or is that something that has evolved as the book has continued?Mike Perkins and Mike Spicer have been creating some really incredible imagery, particularly when it comes to the delineation of the flashbacks in recent issues. Meanwhile, Aditya Bidikar has made Swampy's voice feel like it's rumbling right off the page. What has that collaboration process been like with all three?Levi's brother Jacob has been teased from the start and makes an appearance in the latest issue, what makes their brotherhood so important to the narrative itself? While it was unclear what generated this plant-fueled apocalypse in Future State, Levi's reunion with Jacob suggests that Hedera's corrosive influence on the Green may be leading to this potential outcome. Is this an off base theory?!We're obviously thrilled to hear that this story will be continuing. Anything you want to tease/any foreboding words of warning for the reader about what's ahead? (Maybe: Might we see a return to the world of Future State: Swamp Thing?)

What makes these two characters the right choice to push forward? There have been many cases where a big event or cliffhanger teases the “future events” at the big-two, but in many cases, some of those events don’t happen or fall off. Can you say with certainty what we see in Infinite Frontier will be used and explored down the line? What goes into writing an overarching structure for a comic like Infinite Frontier? Is it an outline, a rough script, a treatment, an abstract painting they riff off of?As a writer for the big-two, soon to be publishing a book you’re spearheading in Infinite Frontier, how do you navigate ambition, approaching the size and scope, but also what you want to achieve personally? - i think he’s kinda covered this ok!It’s not evident if you’ve written or will write Dr. Manhattan, but I must know, is there any extra stress or anxiety around writing a character or exploring the consequences of a character that is so iconically part of one of the most famous comics in existence? It might be because folks are still figuring out Future State and aren’t quite ready for Infinite Frontier, but I swear there’s even more hype around Robin. What do you think makes Robin aka Damian Wayne such an alluring character for fans? Can you talk a little bit about Gleb Melnikov’s work on Robin, was there any specific page in the first issue that went above and beyond what you could have anticipated? The pandemic has affected the entire industry, I was curious if it helped or hindered the development of Infinite Frontier and Robin? Have you had a pitch in mind for the property for a while or did it all fall together when you got in touch with Valiant?Manowar has a storied history with various origins, backgrounds, reboots, etc. but it’s also been going long that it seems like reverence for the book and character’s history is important. Do you notice your creative process change much? We’re going to leave this one a little open to interpretation, but what do you think is the one thing every X-O Manowar run must do?
