In 1983 he formed his own firm, from which he retired in 2022. During his 43-year career, Joe performed and supervised countless audits and was an AICPA-authorized peer reviewer for dozens of other audit firms. In 2003, Joe published his first book, How Social Security Picks Your Pocket, which chronicled the waste in the program and called for a private option for participants. While researching the book, Joe discovered that thousands of teachers in Texas were participating in a shameful scam that cost the Social Security program an estimated 2 billion dollars. (They were pretending to be full-time janitors.) He notified the Social Security Inspector General who replied, “We take your concern seriously and will open an audit ....” Thirteen months later, the audit was done and the IG agreed with Joe's 64-page analysis, without exception. Before long, however, Joe learned of the power of the teachers' union and the weakness of Social Security Administrators, who refused to cut off the phony benefits. Following the 2008 financial crisis, Joe wrote a unique book called, Who Really Drove the Economy into the Ditch. Unlike other analysts, Joe described the roots of the crisis, which went back to the early days of the Clinton Administration and its push to eliminate the down payment requirement for home mortgage loans. Joe expects his new book— Debunked? — to be his most controversial and important work as it takes on the sanctity of our vote. As a young man, Joe won first place in a national music competition. He performed on his clarinet under Leopold Stokowski in Carnegie Hall, and he still performs occasionally with his wife, Nina, a pianist. He says that the transition from music to business is a long story, best told over a couple of cold beers.

Researcher, Educator and Professional Speaker Etienne de la Boetie² has written the book «Government – The Biggest Scam in History… Exposed!». He is arguing that the governments are illegitimate, and that many of its acts are immoral according to The Natural Law. Have you heard of the Free Republic of Liberland? Probably not. But it is actually a nation that turned five this spring. There is a catch: It still doesn’t have any inhabitants on the physical area it has marked out for itself on a disputed piece of land between Serbia and Croatia, and it is still only recognized officially by Somaliland (which itself isn’t really recognized internationally). But Liberland itself has representatives in dozens of countries, it already has 1,000 citizens scattered globally, and half a million people have applied for citizenship. ”People are looking for alternatives when things are going down the drain”, says Vit Jedlička, Liberland’s first president, to Mind the Shift. He wants to create a nation with less rules, no corruption and truly free markets. To the extent that Liberland is to be ruled, it will be based on meritocracy. The country's motto is: To live and let live. ”The fewer rules, the more prosperity”, says Jedlička. ”I’ve been thinking a lot about how to bring more freedom to the people of this world. You can’t force people to change their ways. You just have to be a good example.” But doesn’t economic freedom for some mean hardship for others? No, that’s a widespread falsehood, says Liberland’s head of state.. ”This is one of the paradigms that are pushed through our educational system. It’s a big mental block. The truth is that when trade is truly free, both sides always win.” Why use money at all? ”Well, you can barter, but money has shown to be the most effective means for voluntary exchange”, says Vit Jedlička, a former libertarian politician who left politics some years ago, when he came to the conclusion that parliamentarians can’t really change anything even if they have the majority. This weekend marks the 5th anniversary of the founding of Liberland. Mike speaks the President of the country and talks about the upcoming virtual celebration.

The Creation of a New Nation Welcome to the Free Republic of Liberland. Wait you've never heard of this country? "Well, that's a pretty normal response", says Joey Langenbrunner, Deputy Head of Mission to the United States. Liberland is new. The micronation, like Somaliland, will have existed for 5 years on April 13th, 2020. The delegation is planning a big celebration. They are launching they're own blockchain for governance and a cryptocurrency called Merits. Although, they are starting to get recognition internationally, they are still not recognized by the UN. This micronation lies along the Danube river, between Serbia and Croatia. The land lay unclaimed after the dissolution of Yugoslavia in 1991. The Danube is an international waterway and lends to many interesting trade and commerce opportunities. Liberland is will act as a testing ground for new models of governance. Additionally, they are planning an e-residency program like Estonia. After the launch of their blockchain in April 2020 they will start issuing citizenships too. As a result, these announcements caused them to receive over 600,000 applications for citizenship. We've had over 600K applications for citizenship. There are still many issues to sort out, but Joey is confident the last 5 years of work Liberlanders have put in will pay off. His path to become a citizen is one of perseverance and dedication. All things have led him up to this point. Joey is very passionate about the goals of Liberland and it will be interesting to watch this nation grow. We encourage you to support Liberland. Why, you ask? Experimentation is needed in governance and what better way to accomplish this than by letting a real sovereign and peaceful nation attempt it. Vít Jedlička is the president of the world’s youngest country. His new micronation, the Free Republic of Liberland, is only three square miles in size. It was established in April 2016 in an area between Croatia and Serbia which had been unclaimed by either country for many years. Unlike other emerging territories on Earth, there are no other claims to ownership on the land Liberland has been established on. Founded primarily on libertarian values, the nation of Liberland is designed to cater to people who do not identify with the values of the place they were arbitrarily born into. Vít believes that people everywhere should be free to set up lives for themselves where they are free to live how they want, in line with their preferences and values. For most people in the world, their nationality and cultural values define their behavior and opportunities more than any other single factor in their lives. Without extraordinary effort to take these matters into their own hands by moving outside their culture and acquiring new nationalities, they remain slave to the social conditions of their birth. What defines a nation today is nothing more than an arbitrary agreement among world powers of which boundaries matter and which do not. Throughout the world, there are over 100 areas which are considered disputed territories or demi-nations. Each is fighting for recognition among the leading world powers that are always in flux and generally taken for granted. The world does not have to look the way that it does, ruled by the groups that currently claim the power to make rules and raise armies to enforce their views. With changes in technology and philosophy, the layout of the world will evolve rapidly. In its short lifespan, Liberland has acquired nearly half a million applicants for citizenship through its merit system, which will eventually award passports and citizenship to those who provide significant value for the development of the country. The team behind Liberland currently has the task of determining which of the many applicants adhere properly to the values they have declared for the nation, and which have earned the right to call themselves citizens by the time they are ready to start operating as an official part of the world political landscape. Liberland is slowly being developed with physical structures and community activities, though it is still difficult to access the land. Currently, Croatia prevents entry into Liberland. In doing so, they are acknowledging that Liberland is a separate nation from itself. If Vít and his team go through the proper channels to establish their nationhood, Liberland will someday be respected by existing world powers as a real nation. Whether or not that ever happens, right now it still stands for an important principle of freedom and individual choice in how cultures evolve. Someday, nations will be far smaller and more personalized than the 196 monoliths we have now. The second part of the New Year's Eve podcast turns to far more serious matters. In this extended segment, Chauncey talks about the extrajudicial killing of Tamir Rice and answers the question(s) asked by some online about how best to stay sane and positive in these trying times. To that end, Chauncey reads some of the wicked comments at the white supremacist Right-wing political website known as The Free Republic about the killing of Tamir Rice and the exoneration of the thug cops who stole his life. Chauncey then uses the wisdom of Dr. Na'im Akbar to help black and brown folks understand how best to win a psychological battle with white racists. In this New Year's Eve episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show, Chauncey also gives some love to the now permanently retired radio legend Art Bell by playing a clip from one of the latter's amazing conversations with Father Malachi Martin, former exorcist for the Vatican. Chauncey shills for the great new movie The Hateful Eight and then overshares during this episode of the podcast about his inexorable lust and explosive desire for Katrina Pierson, the bullet necklace wearing spokeswoman for Donald Trump.

In July, the House of Representatives unanimously passed a bill that would allow expiring anthrax vaccines to be given to civilian emergency responders within the United States. The question: Is that vaccine safe? I had the privelege to talk with Vít Jedlička, President of the new libertarian nation The Free Republic of Liberland.  President Vít goes into detail about how things typically handled by governments will work in a country where state power is limited and taxes are voluntary. When was the last time you heard of a “pioneering” new movement in the literal sense of settling unclaimed lands with hope of a better future? For generations, virtually all land has been claimed and controlled by existing governments, making such efforts difficult. Excepting parts of Antarctica, international waters, and a few other so-called “no-man's-lands” speckling the globe, there is nowhere left for modern-day pioneers to endeavor. One unfortunate consequence of the “closing of the frontier” has been an end to new political experiments – the landscape of existing countries represents an oligopoly, with little competition from small “startup” countries. Vít Jedlička, however, took a magnifying glass to the atlas, and found a small (7 km sq.) unclaimed region between Serbia and Croatia. This historical accident of boundary drawing created a unique opportunity for Jedlicka, a Czech politician and libertarian activist, to build his dreamt-of Free Republic of Liberland. In April, Vit and his team officially launched the new country (timed to coincide with Thomas Jefferson's birthday), and since then, Liberland has been steadily accumulating interest, diplomatic recognition, as well as tens of thousands of applications for citizenship.
