In 2010, the Association for Information Systems formed a special interest group () to nurture an international community of academics that study the role of digital technologies in fostering environmentally, economically and socially sustainable development. Fifteen years later, we sit down with , the current SIGGreen president, to reflect on the progress we have made. What do we know about how digital technologies help greening our planet? What efforts in empirical, theoretical, and design work is still needed? Is our role to understand the role of digital technologies or do we need to push and enact change ourselves? We conclude that environmental questions and problems are now firmly on the radar screen of our discipline but more work needs to be done for information systems academics to transform the way we think about and use digital technologies. Ravi Bapna and Anindya Ghose visit Google to discuss their book “Thrive: Maximizing Well-Being in the Age of AI” - the book explores how AI can positively impact many aspects of our daily lives, from health and wellness to work, education, and home life. Artificial intelligence is a powerful general-purpose technology that is reshaping the modern economy, but misperceptions about AI stand in the way of harnessing it for the betterment of humanity. In their book Thrive, Ravi Bapna and Anindya Ghose counter the backlash by showcasing how AI is positively influencing the aspects of our daily lives that we care about most: our health and wellness, relationships, education, the workplace, and domestic life. The authors explain the underlying technology and give people the agency they need to shape the debate around how we should regulate AI to maximize its benefits and minimize its risks. Bringing over two decades of experience with cutting-edge research, consulting, executive coaching, and advising to bear on the subject, Bapna and Ghose demystify the technology of AI itself. They offer a novel “House of AI” framework that encompasses traditional analytics, generative AI, and fair and ethical deployment of AI. Using examples from everyday life, they showcase how the modern AI-powered ecosystem fundamentally improves the emotional, physical, and material well-being of regular people across the globe. In today's episode, we are exploring how Shakespeare was influenced by The Book of the Courtier by Baldassare Castiglione as he was writing Much Ado About Nothing. We'll discuss how close reading of both Shakespeare's play and Castiglione's Renaissance etiquette book uncovers layers of intertextuality and references to The Courtier in Shakespeare's writing. First, we'll discuss some parallels between The Courtier and Much Ado About Nothing. Then we will dig deeper into Book 3 of The Courtier and how its messages on joking, jesting, and laughter can be read in Much Ado About Nothing. We will also briefly discuss how Hero and Beatrice reflect The Courtier's ideal for Renaissance women. Finally, we will closely examine the courtiers in Much Ado About Nothing and how the characters of Benedick, Claudio, Don Pedro, and Don John can be read through the lens of good (and bad) courtier behavior as outlined in The Courtier. We will also discuss which of these courtiers comes the closest to Castiglione's ideal courtier, and what early modern English behaviors Shakespeare may have been commenting on through this play. Citações e trechos retirados do livro “Letters on Yoga”, de Sri Aurobindo.

Are you ready to redefine self-love and acceptance in a world that often emphasizes our differences? This enlightening conversation with Amit Ghose, a passionate advocate for individuals with visible differences, will challenge you to do just that. Born with neurofibromatosis, a condition that causes tumors to grow on nerves, Amit's journey has been one of courage, resilience, and transformation. From finding his identity and confidence on his school cricket team, he has become a global voice of empowerment and acceptance, using his story to inspire others to embrace their uniqueness. Our conversation goes beyond Amit's personal triumphs to discuss broader issues of self-acceptance and the complexity of human identity. We question society's focus on 'inspiration porn', the phenomenon of turning people with disabilities into sources of inspiration for overcoming adversity. Instead, we argue for understanding the human experience in all its dimensions and recognizing the values embedded in it. We look at the power of self-validation, acknowledging our worthiness, and how small, consistent improvements can help us navigate life's challenges. We also delve into the critical role of disability inclusion in business, exploring the potential impact of having leaders with disabilities at the C-suite level. We challenge the prevalent tick-box approach and call for a more comprehensive strategy that genuinely values equity. We touch on the issue of unconscious bias, looking at how media and films often perpetuate stereotypes and biases. This episode is a call to action to redefine self-love, acceptance, and disability inclusion. So, join us on this journey with Amit Ghose, and let's start making a difference together.Amit's new website: https://www.amitghose.co.uk/Support the showFollow axschat on social mediaTwitter:https://twitter.com/axschathttps://twitter.com/AkwyZhttps://twitter.com/neilmillikenhttps://twitter.com/debraruhLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/antoniovieirasantos/ https://www.linkedin.com/company/axschat/Vimeohttps://vimeo.com/akwyz

Neel Ghose is the founder of the Robin Hood Army, a zero-funds volunteer-based organization that is using food redistribution as a medium to connect with others and solve for the problem of excess food at restaurants, grocery stores, and other foodservice settings. Through the power of people, Robin Hood Army has scaled to reach more than 400 cities in 13 countries. On this episode of “Food Lab Talk,” Michiel speaks with Neel about what inspired him to begin the Robin Hood Army, how he and his colleagues have maintained the mission of the organization as it grows to include millions of Robins around the world, and his advice for “thinking less and doing more.” Neel Ghose: “I generally feel that food builds trust. Amar Ghose is known around the cleaning industry as a digital nomad, world traveler, SaaS Founder of ZenMaid. His name came up on the interview with Courtney Wisely ("People are Inspired by Honesty").Here are some highlights and quotes from Amar on this interview. "Your dream is your dream and your rich life is your rich life." "The Wifi leads the way for the nomads." I thought this was an interesting point Amar made. Digital nomads can't go ANYWHERE they want. They can go anywhere that has good WiFi."Nomadic life has helped me appreciate the differences all around the world. It has given me such perspective on gratitude."Amar read "The 4-Hour Work Week" by Tim Ferriss when it came out in 2007. It was finally the permission that he needed to take a shot. He thought about this book and his dream for 8 more years. 2015 was his first year living it. Amar has always been all-in on personal development. This culture is throughout the ZenMaid Team. Amar wants people that are taking advantage of improving themselves and is willing to invest into them by paying for the courses and books."First-time founders focus on product and second-time founders focus on distribution." Amar noticed early-on that a first-time founder will be very focused on what the product is, what the idea is. Very little thought is given to how you're going to get that product or idea into people's hands. This is natural because if you're never owned a business before, you're going to focus on the product and the idea. Once you've tried before and failed, you realize that you need to build the tribe or user base first and let them tell you what to build. Amar says this. "As a more experienced founder, I am spending my time on how to distribute the features of the product.""I wouldn't be starting a maid service today if I didn't already know how I was going to get my first 10 or 15 or 100 clients. Just setting up a cleaning business and having no idea how you're going to get those first clients is just setting your business up for failure."Amar is a member of the Dynamic Circle, a community for nomadic entrepreneurs. This has given him a group of friends to grow and live life with.Amar on lifestyle freedom - "That's what I enjoy the most. It's not that I work less hours than people of anything like that. It's just that I can make my own schedule and work when my mental energy is highest. Ideally, I like to work 10 – 20 hours per week and have the rest of my time just opened to me. The ultimate definition of freedom is choosing to work 10 hours or 80 hours in a week and not having to do either.""Our biggest goal at ZenMaid is making things accessible and easy to use. Simplicity and ease of use are core values of the company. Our vision is to serve more remote maid service owners We also see the future where the more savvy maid service owners can customize their own perfect solution using ZenMaid software."Read the rest of this article at the Smart Cleaning School website

In this episode Neel chats with Amar Ghose, Founder and CEO of ZenMaid. Neel and Amar have managed not to meet, despite being the only two in their digital entrepreneur group in the cleaning space over the past few years. One time Amar left Chiang Mai for a few weeks and Neel happened to show up during the same time (everyone said it was just a swap out! :-) ). Neel and Amar discuss: the importance of "owning" the career ladder instead of climbing it choosing between lifestyle design and high growth why the four day work week doesn't work for startups Amar also shares when it might be time to listen to Gary Vee to hustle for your biz vs listening to Tim Ferriss to design your life.
Do you believe in vampires? Have you been to the witches circle? In this episode we head back to Erie PA to visit the high strangeness and strange happenings of Erie PA. Last time we visited we learned about Rev Robin Swoops Book Erie Erie. Some say the tomb belonged to a wealthy Romanian businessman, but after he was interned, dead bodies were found in the surrounding neighborhoods, drained of their blood with bite marks on their necks. Wealthy Romanian businessman? Looks like Count Dracula decided to settle in Pennsylvania after that whole Jonathon and Mina Harker affair. There are dozens of legends and stories surrounding the vault. Some have to do with Satanic rituals summoning the devil which explains why this particular mausoleum is blackened. Other stories warn of trespassing in the crypt with claims of curses and death for anyone who shows disrespect to the vault and what lies within. The Witches circle is a legend, in the late 1800s, Erie was home to a coven of witches. When the two leaders of the coven died, they were buried in the circle. It is said that when Satan returned for his servants, the fires of Hell scorched their graves, and the evidence of those stories can still be seen to this day. With such wild claims, it should come as no surprise that the Witches Circle is also home to some paranormal claims. People have reported hearing the sound of footsteps behind them, even when they're alone. And there are even claims of a rabid black dog that runs at people, only to disappear before it bites you. Shownotes: Sumita Ghose my guest on this episode of The Elephant in the Room podcast is the founder of Rangsutra - a social enterprise working with artisans in rural India. A Fulbright Scholar and the recipient of the MacArthur Fellowship for Leadership, Ghose set up Rangsutra with a goal of bringing about socio-economic development and inclusive growth to rural India by engaging both the community and market. But, the venture almost didn't take off because a leading public sector bank refused to give her a loan since she did not have collateral. A determined Sumita raised the seed funding from a 1000 artisans who she had worked with in the past. Today, Rangsutra is co-owned by 2000 artisan shareholders along with Ghose, Social Venture Capital Fund Aavishkaar and Fab India's Artisans Microfinance. Sumita's ambition for Rangsutra is to be a global brand but also to show the world that there is a way of doing business, which is good for all. In India the partnership with FAB India and IKEA who have a similar value system has helped Rangsutra to grow from strength to strength. Listen to her Sumita speak about her journey.
