Welcome to Multiverse News, your source for information about all your favorite fictional universes.Marvel left D23 with a full X-Men cast, a Doomsday sizzle reel, and a VisionQuest trailer, but not one new Disney+ series. In the August 20 edition of What I'm Hearing, Puck's Julia Alexander wrote that multiple live-action Marvel series are quietly in development with announcements expected soon, which cuts directly against the last few weeks of reporting that had Marvel retreating from live-action TV entirely after VisionQuest lands October 14. Worth stressing that this is a single paywalled item with no titles, no dates, and no talent attached, and Variety, Deadline, and THR have all left it alone while the aggregators and fan sites ran wild with it, loudly, with everything from a Heroes for Hire spinoff to a Defenders reunion getting floated ahead of Marvel Television's New York Comic Con panel on October 8. While Marvel's TV plans stay stuck in rumor, DC just made one official. The Jimmy Olsen project we've been tracking for the better part of a year finally has a title, and it's The People v. Gorilla Grodd, now an eight-episode straight-to-series order at HBO Max. Jimmy Tatro is officially Grodd after months of being merely attached in reports, but the bigger get is how much of the Daily Planet came along, with Skyler Gisondo, Beck Bennett, Mikaela Hoover, and Wendell Pierce all reprising from Superman for a “true” crime docuseries reinvestigating Grodd's murder conviction. To close out our all-TV episode, here's the one DC show that actually made it to air, and it's doing numbers. Per Deadline, Lanterns pulled 9.3 million global viewers in its first three days across HBO and HBO Max, 6.6 million of them stateside, making it the biggest DC Studios premiere in HBO Max history and a top five series debut on the platform overall. That's a stronger opening than The Penguin and IT: Welcome to Derry, and the premiere has held the number one spot on HBO Max's daily top ten every day since Sunday, with Chris Mundy already sketching season two despite no official renewal yet. Kit Harington will play Gilderoy Lockhart in season 2 of HBO's Harry Potter series. Harington replaces Nicholas Hoult, who was originally cast in the role but left over scheduling issues.Spider-Man: Brand New Day continued its dominant run at the global box office and currently stands at $2.2 billion worldwide. The Odyssey opened in a few more territories and sits at $1.44 billion in its sixth weekend, while newcomer Insidious: Out of the Further opened to $60.3 million worldwide. In an interview at the For the Love of Fantasy & Sci-Fi convention in London, Hayley Atwell told attendees that she was frustrated by Captain Carter's storyline in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness saying “If I'm really like brutally honest, I was so disappointed with how they positioned her and what happened to her in that scene. It's so small, and she gets frisbeed to death. I tried on set to kind of go, ‘Can I just add? Can I just suggest?' And they were like, ‘Sure, but no.'”FX has ordered Legends, a meta-thriller limited series spinoff of Sons of Anarchy that reunites the majority of the original cast, including Charlie Hunnam, only this time playing fictionalized versions of themselves. The logline has the cast reuniting at a fan convention after more than a decade, where the line between life and art blurs as the fractured brotherhood faces a real-world threat more dangerous than anything from the show.NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal in an interview with EW revealed that he attempted to get cast in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a role but was told no. He said “I wanted to be in the ‘Avengers' and they were like, ‘Shaq, we fuckin' love you and we'd love to put you in, but if your face pops up on screen people are going to go, ‘Hey, that's Shaq!' He said it truthfully, and I was like, alright… I guess my face is too bigtime.”

“Lanterns” so far is more cop drama than cosmic weirdness, and comic book historian Jessica Plummer isn't convinced the trade was worth it. She joins Matthew Fox to dig into the first two episodes of HBO Max's new John Stewart and Hal Jordan series, working through what an adaptation owes its source material and where reinterpretation turns into replacement. They get into the show's stripped-down approach to Green constructs, John Stewart's rewritten comics backstory, and why the human sheriff might be the character worth rooting. Is this really a Green Lantern story, or just a good show wearing the name?Full show notes and resourcesConnect with Jessica Plummer: Website**************************************************************************This episode is a production of Superhero Ethics, an Ethical Panda podcast and part of the TruStory FM Entertainment Podcast Network. The Dad Edge Podcast (formerly The Good Dad Project Podcast)
Caitlin V is a sexologist, relationship coach, and host of Good Sex on HBO Max who has built a YouTube channel with nearly a million subscribers and over 170 million views, working primarily with men on erectile dysfunction, performance anxiety, premature ejaculation, and the isolation that comes with all three. She started as a sexual health researcher and policy analyst before deciding that change happens in conversations with real people, not in research papers. This is a live Dad Edge Alliance Q&A where Caitlin takes real questions from married men about a sexless stretch, shame carried into the marriage bed, sex used as leverage, and a marriage that has gone completely touchless. If you have been avoiding the conversation with your wife because the last time you brought it up it went badly, this one gives you the actual script. Timeline Summary [4:12] – Caitlin's path from sexual health researcher and policy analyst to sexologist and coach [6:14] – First question, a husband who pushed too hard once and has been gun shy ever since [9:06] – Why a multi year backlog of unsaid things lands on one conversation and crushes it [11:01] – The cracked foundation, why repair has to come before any talk about frequency [13:35] – Reading her green lights and lobbing the flirtation back without adding pressure [16:33] – Naming the dynamic out loud as an act of leadership instead of a confession [23:58] – Why "the talk" is the wrong model for sex, with your kids and with your wife [27:39] – Nature abhors a vacuum, if she doesn't know what sex means to you she fills it in [31:25] – Anonymous question, premarital sex, religious shame, and less sex after the wedding [36:51] – The taboo factor, why sanctioned sex can lose the charge that breaking the rule provided [40:04] – Shame hates light, why you can't clean it out of her and what you can do instead [47:00] – Anonymous question, sex promised as a thank you that almost never arrives [53:09] – Why nobody can pre consent, and taking penetration off the required list [56:09] – What's underneath sex used as leverage, and how to rewrite that agreement together [59:11] – Anonymous question, a touchless marriage after years of backing off out of respect [1:03:25] – Betty Martin's Wheel of Consent and the Three Minute Game as the road back to touch 5 Key Takeaways Repair Before Frequency — Asking for more sex when years of unsaid things are still sitting there is like redecorating a living room on a cracked foundation. Go back and own what you didn't say first, then build. Name the Dynamic Out Loud — Leadership here is not initiating harder, it's surfacing the pattern so you're both looking at the same thing. Say "I haven't been lobbing these back because I'm afraid" instead of waiting for her to move first. She's Filling In Your Blanks — If your wife doesn't know the texture of what sex actually means to you, she fills that vacuum with social media, her friends, and her parents' marriage. "All you think about is sex" is usually a response to something that was never you. Warmth With an Invoice — If your past kisses and shoulder rubs came with a hidden price tag, she felt it, and that's why affection now reads as a bid. Presented by HBO Max | For Your ConsiderationIn this special Emmy® season episode of Decorating Pages, I'm joined by five HBO Max Emmy-nominated production designers whose shows could not look more different: Nina Ruscio of The Pitt, Bob Shaw of The Gilded Age, François Audouy of Euphoria, Rob Tokarz of Hacks, and Tom McCullagh of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. We get into what production design actually does for storytelling — from making a 25,000-square-foot emergency department disappear into reality on The Pitt, to transforming existing locations into the extravagant world of The Gilded Age. Rob Tokarz breaks down creating an entire fictional 1970s television history for Hacks, François Audouy talks about shooting Euphoria on film and building a practical miniature Los Angeles for its giant Cassie sequence, and Tom McCullagh takes us inside the enormous Ashford tournament build for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. We also talk about something every production designer understands: finding the location you don't want, making it work anyway, designing sets that can shoot in every direction, building spaces actors actually respond to, and creating worlds that support story without calling attention to themselves. At the end, I ask each designer to choose one set they would show a film student to explain what the art department really does — and their answers are practically a production design class in themselves.Featured Production Designers:Nina Ruscio — The Pitt. We're back to a full house this week as James returns from his holidays, and an even fuller house than that, in fact, as we have a surprise ringer parachuted into this week's line-up. In a bid to address to the team's ongoing reluctance to become au fait with animation, we've invited animation filmmaker John McEwan-Whyte to join us on the show and provide a crash course in all things cell-shaded (31:08). Plus we catch up on the heroic amount of things that we've watched over the past few weeks (including at least one awkward mea culpa) and we jump into this week's shows. To whit: DC superhero-powered crime thriller Lanterns on HBO Max (1:07:49), series 2 of cosy crime procedural Ludwig on BBC1 (1:14:51), and spray-tan crime caper Sunny Nights on ITV (1:19:44).Note: time stamps are approximate as the ads throw them out, so are only meant as a guide. Millions of people care for loved ones every day — but who takes care of the caregiver? In this episode, Host Gabe Howard sits down with actress Cathryn Dylan Ortiz, whose powerful portrayal of Brenda in HBO Max's hit medical drama “The Pitt” sparked widespread conversations about caregiver burnout, anxiety, depression, and the invisible mental health struggles that often go unnoticed. Cathryn shares how she prepared for one of the show's most emotionally impactful storylines by combining extensive research with her own lived experience. Together, she and Gabe explore why mental illness and mental health issues often hide behind a calm exterior and how caregivers frequently ignore their own emotional needs. Listeners will learn: why caregiver burnout is a serious mental health issue — not just stress what HBO Max's “The Pitt” gets right about portraying mental health without stereotypes how simply asking "How are you doing?" can make a meaningful difference why caregivers often feel guilty asking for help themselves Whether you're caring for a parent, spouse, child, friend, or simply trying to better understand someone who is, this episode offers compassionate insights into caregiver burnout, emotional overload, and the importance of recognizing that caregivers deserve support, too. Our guest, Cathryn Dylan Ortiz, is an actress and graduate of Carnegie Mellon University's School of Drama, where she earned her BFA in Acting. She is best known for her recurring role as Brenda Azurmendi on HBO Max's acclaimed medical drama The Pitt, as well as appearances on Marshals, Grey's Anatomy, Law & Order: SVU, The Rookie, Chicago Justice, and Ray Donovan. Her portrayal of Brenda - a mother whose son's medical emergency reveals her own silent mental health crisis - sparked widespread conversations among viewers of the HBO MAX series about caregiver burnout, dissociation, and the hidden emotional toll of caregiving. Following the response to the storyline, Cathryn has used her platform to engage in conversations surrounding mental health awareness, caregiver support, and the power of storytelling to help people feel seen. Beyond acting, Cathryn is passionate about epilepsy advocacy, mental health advocacy, and animal welfare. She is involved with the Epilepsy Foundation Los Angeles and is committed to helping bridge the gap between storytelling, education, and meaningful public conversation. Our host, Gabe Howard, is an award-winning writer and speaker who lives with bipolar disorder. He is the author of the popular book, "Mental Illness is an Asshole and other Observations," available from Amazon; signed copies are also available directly from the author. Gabe is also the host of the "Inside Bipolar" podcast with Dr. Nicole Washington. Gabe makes his home in the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio. What if dying revealed the truth about who you really are? After suffering a heart attack fueled by years of rage, trauma, and inner conflict, David A. Williamson says he left his body, heard doctors' thoughts as they fought to save his life, traveled through deep space, encountered "the Void," witnessed a mysterious hidden Grid beyond the universe, and received a life-altering message:"You killed yourself with your personality."In this extraordinary Near Death Experience (NDE) episode of Mayim Bialik's Breakdown, David describes hovering above his body in the operating room, watching medical personnel work on him while somehow knowing their private thoughts. He then says he shot through space, encountered what he believes may be connected to black holes, witnessed a star-forming region, transformed into an orb of light, and saw an asteroid that NASA would later confirm actually exists. But that's only the beginning.David shares childhood experiences that he believes prepared him for this encounter with death, including an NDE at age six, powerful intuition, ESP abilities, lucid dreaming, sleep paralysis, and a lifelong sense that reality was far more mysterious than most people realize. He also reveals why he eventually asked God to take his intuitive gifts away.In one of the most unique life reviews we've ever heard, David says he was shown profound truths about identity, race, trauma, love, and the destructive power of unresolved anger. Growing up in a small, impoverished Southern town, witnessing KKK marches as a child, and carrying years of racial pain and resentment would eventually culminate in the heart attack that changed everything. He also discusses startling past-life memories of witnessing the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, his views on reincarnation, Earth School, and why he believes we are already choosing future lifetimes based on the lessons we are learning now.We cover:- His detailed out-of-body experience during cardiac arrest- Receiving the profound realization that he was fundamentally "love and light"- Traveling through space and encountering "the Void"- Witnessing a star-forming region and becoming an orb of light- Mysterious Grid beyond space and what it may mean about reality- Angels and their role in humanity's development- Reincarnation, soul evolution, & Earth School- Why he believes souls cycle through many lives- Emotional and physical challenges of returning to life after death- Why he experienced severe depression after his NDE- How sharing his story 3.5 years later helped rewire his brain and accelerate healing- The dramatic personality transformation that followed his experience- Psychedelics vs. NDEs: key similarities and differences- What religion gets wrong about spirituality- How his NDE changed the way he parents and approaches relationships- Role of imagination, creation, & possibility in human lifeWhether you're curious about consciousness, life after death, reincarnation, spirituality, psychic phenomena, black holes, or the transformative power of profound human experiences, this conversation challenges conventional assumptions and explores some of the deepest questions we can ask about existence!Go to https://surfshark.com/mayim or use code MAYIM at checkout to get 4 extra months of Surfshark!Use code BREAKER at jonesroadbeauty.com to get a Free Gift with your first purchase! #JonesRoadBeauty #adFor a limited time, get $250 off Cove Pure water filtration at http://www.covepure.com/breakdownReceive a free LMNT Sample Pack with purchase. This week we're sharing something special that was previously only available on Substack: Jonathan's conversation with Meredith Sprengel, Research and Program Director for the Subtle Energy Funders Collective and Fellowship Director for the Biofield Fellowship Research Program. Meredith studies what most people would call energy healing — someone holds their hands over you, or sends an intention, and the body drops into a deep state of rest. In that state, curious and sometimes miraculous things start to happen.Science can already measure the electrical field your heart and brain give off, and the faint light your cells emit. But what about a field that connects all of us? And what if it's the missing piece in how the body heals itself?Meredith walks us through a preclinical study at MD Anderson Cancer Center where a specific energy healing practice stopped the growth of pancreatic cancer cells. She also describes her own research in the Netherlands, where people receiving healing showed an exponential rise in biophoton emissions — the faint light our cells give off when they're metabolically active. A mitochondrial researcher who reviewed the data said it resembled what you see in someone who just went for a run.Meredith has interviewed many healers who describe scanning the body and feeling spots that are heavy, hot, or stuck — places where old emotional pain is believed to be held. What her research has found is that healing rarely looks like pain suddenly disappearing. More often, a person's relationship to that pain changes, and connection to other people and a sense of meaning seem to play a role in that shift. So how does it actually work? Some healers say they're channeling god, source, or consciousness. Others describe clearing blockages of stuck energy. And others say they're not doing the healing at all — just giving the body space to do what it already knows how to do.Meredith and her co-host Ivy Ross explore all of this in their six-part podcast series, Phenomena: The Science and Stories of Energy Healing, sitting down with healers, people who've received healing, and the scientists studying what's actually happening.Energy healing has been practiced for centuries. Science is finally starting to catch up!Watch the Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Official Podcast on HBO Max, the HBO Max YouTube channel, or listen wherever you get your podcasts. https://link.mgln.ai/StuartVisit drinkag1.com/BREAKDOWN and get a FREE AG1 Flavor Sampler and a FREE bottle of Vitamin D3 + K2 in your Welcome Kit with your first AG1 subscription order.Get your annual IANDS Conference tickets at https://conference.iands.org.Follow us on Substack for Exclusive Bonus Content: https://bialikbreakdown.substack.com/BialikBreakdown.comYouTube.com/mayimbialikSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Google underwent a big AI shakeup this week, leaving a lot of people wondering whether there are big problems on team Gemini. David and Nilay start the show by discussing what's next for Jeff Dean and Demis Hassabis, before diving into the ways in which Google and Reddit have become existentially, problematically dependent on one another. After that, we talk through Disney's plan to turn Disney Plus into an everything app, and all the reasons we think that's a terrible idea and a sign of big problems in the streaming biz. Finally, in the lightning round, Brendan Carr is still a dummy, Snapchat wants AI out of your feed, and BMW has a Spider-Man to sell you. What if everything you've been told about UFOs, consciousness, religion, psychic abilities, and humanity's future is connected? In Part 2 of our conversation with Chris Bledsoe (UFO experiencer known for his remarkable story of contact with unexplained phenomena, author of UFO of GOD) he reveals explosive reports about government secrets, nonhuman intelligence, psychic downloads, miraculous healings, remote viewing, and a coming global awakening.Chris shares his account of physically gathering evidence from UAP encounters, evidence he says was confiscated by the U.S. government and classified as Top Secret. He also discusses what he has been told about alleged physical evidence of nonhuman intelligence already in government possession and explains how far his experiences and information have reached within the CIA, military, and NASA.We dive into reports of UFOs shutting down nuclear missile sites, the orb phenomenon witnessed by highly credible intelligence, military, and aerospace officials, and Chris' astonishing claim that a remote viewing experience helped prevent a credible threat against Pope Francis, resulting in a suspect being arrested.Chris describes extraordinary abilities he says emerged after his encounter, including hearing other people's thoughts, communicating with animals, receiving psychic downloads, and performing physical healings that witnesses claim changed lives. He explains why he believes "The Lady" who appeared to him is the Holy Spirit, why he argues that the Bible is full of UFO encounters, and whether dissociation may make certain people more receptive to contact with unexplained phenomena. He also discusses whether negative entities can attach themselves to people, why supernatural experiences seem to increase around Easter, and why he believes humanity is currently undergoing a slow but unstoppable awakening. We also explore one of his most provocative claims yet: that he received advance knowledge of major world events, including COVID-19 and conflict involving Iran, and why he believes these events may have served a greater purpose in humanity's evolution.Plus, we show some of Chris' most mind-blowing orb footage and conclude with the message he says he was meant to deliver to humanity:Be ready. The awakening is coming, and our realm may soon blend with what we once called magic. They can't harm you, if they can't find you! What if UFOs aren't extraterrestrials at all, but something far more profound? In this episode of Mayim Bialik's Breakdown, Chris Bledsoe (UFO experiencer known for his remarkable story of contact with unexplained phenomena, author of UFO of GOD) shares the full story behind his alleged contact with nonhuman intelligence, an encounter that transformed his life forever. After years of financial collapse, debilitating Crohn's disease, and personal despair, Chris claims he witnessed mysterious fireballs in the sky before being taken aboard a glowing "orb" or Tic Tac-shaped UAP. What began as a strange sighting quickly turned into a missing-time event in which he disappeared for four hours...only to return feeling as though no time had passed at all.The experience didn't just change his worldview - it miraculously cured his Crohn's disease and awakened an ability to heal others. Through hypnotherapy, he later recovered memories of what he describes as a guided "tour" of Earth and beyond, including encounters with the Egyptian pyramids, Mars, and revelations about humanity's place in the cosmos.Chris also recounts his encounters with mysterious portals and a divine feminine entity he calls "The Lady", experiences that he says attracted the attention of both government officials and representatives from the Vatican, leading to years of scrutiny and investigation. But the story doesn't end there.Chris reveals the five years of darkness that followed his encounter, how his life unraveled after speaking publicly about his experiences, and why those hardships ultimately strengthened his spiritual faith more than ever before. He also discusses continuing to witness these unexplained orbs to this day.Are UFOs aliens? Angels? Interdimensional beings? Spiritual entities? Chris shares what he believes UAPs truly are, and why he ultimately refuses to place a definitive label on the phenomenon.Chris also breaks down:- His traumatic childhood and two near death experiences that he believes prepared him for contact with the paranormal- Dramatic cultural shift from UFO ridicule to mainstream acceptance- Why he believes humanity is currently undergoing a global awakening- Future of telepathy, expanded consciousness, and "seeing without eyes"- Whether anyone can access the same spiritual abilities he claims to possess- How organized religion may limit humanity's direct connection to the divine- Why restoring the "divine feminine" is essential for humanity's future- How he manifests spiritual gifts and extraordinary experiences- Why he believes every person has the right to connect directly with GodWhether you view Chris Bledsoe as a mystic, experiencer, prophet, or one of the most fascinating figures in the UFO world, this conversation challenges conventional ideas about consciousness, spirituality, extraterrestrials, and humanity's future!Watch the Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Official Podcast on HBO Max, the HBO Max YouTube channel, or listen wherever you get your podcasts. https://link.mgln.ai/Stuart Feel less puffy, sluggish, and stiff with Lifepro.
