Thursday, May 22 -  Dr. Jack Stockwell (www.forbiddendoctor.com & www.jackstockwell.com | Phone: 866-867-5070), a GAPS Practitioner and NUCCA Chiropractor, discusses the biggest concerns for health and medical news from a natural position over prescription drugs. He starts today's episode with the topic of the way the American diet has changed over recent generations, the drastic rise of health-related complications leading to death, and from where the food comes in an average diet today. Metabolic dysfunction is on the rise, a finding that half the people on the planet will be considered overweight by 2050, and how the more we eat processed carbohydrates equates to the sicker we get, and deep roots in medical history of the low carb approach to diets. Then, Dr. Jack alerts us to studies that have established people with chronic diseases are more likely to suffer from carbohydrate intolerance, and why you may want to look into the GAPS Diet for a gut-rebuilding diet. Lastly, Doug Stephan and Dr. Jack Stockwell  address listener questions, including how to maintain optimal health, if dosages on supplements are correct, why not every food that comes from nature is healthy (spoiler alert: those fertilizers and pesticides could be causing you harm through the “healthy” food you eat), and why synthetic vitamins shouldn't be a preferred option. Website: GoodDayHealthrShow.com Social Media: @GoodDayNetworks

This Day in Legal History: Seventeenth AmendmentOn April 8, 1913, the Seventeenth Amendment to the United States Constitution was officially ratified, transforming the way U.S. senators are selected. Prior to this amendment, senators were chosen by state legislatures, a system intended by the framers to preserve state influence within the federal government. However, by the late 19th and early 20th centuries, this process had become widely criticized for being undemocratic and vulnerable to corruption, deadlocks, and backroom political deals.Progressive Era reformers pushed for change, arguing that direct election by the people would make senators more accountable and reduce the influence of powerful political machines. After years of public pressure and legislative debate, the Seventeenth Amendment was passed by Congress in 1912 and ratified by the necessary number of states the following year. The amendment mandates that senators be elected by the voters of each state, aligning the Senate more closely with democratic ideals already applied to the House of Representatives. It also established procedures for handling vacancies through temporary gubernatorial appointments followed by special elections. The ratification marked a major victory for advocates of electoral reform and remains one of the most significant changes to the structure of American democracy since the founding. It reshaped the relationship between the federal government and the people, moving power away from state political elites and toward the electorate.Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has launched an investigation into WK Kellogg over claims that the company may be misleading consumers by advertising some of its cereals as “healthy.” The probe focuses on popular products like Froot Loops, Apple Jacks, and Frosted Flakes, which the state alleges contain petroleum-based artificial colorings linked to health issues such as hyperactivity and obesity. Paxton criticized the company for continuing to use these dyes in U.S. products while removing them from versions sold in Canada and Europe. He argued that it is deceptive to market cereals containing such ingredients as healthy. WK Kellogg has not yet commented on the investigation.Texas opens probe into WK Kellogg over health claims | ReutersPresident Donald Trump has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to pause a federal judge's order requiring the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a legally present Salvadoran man who was wrongfully deported to El Salvador. The Justice Department argued that the lower court overstepped its authority and that the U.S. cannot guarantee swift results in international negotiations, especially under tight deadlines. U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis had found no legal basis for Abrego Garcia's arrest or removal and ordered his return by 11:59 p.m. Monday, calling his deportation "wholly lawless."Abrego Garcia had previously won a 2019 court order protecting him from deportation due to threats from gangs in El Salvador. Despite this, he was deported on March 15 after being stopped and questioned by ICE. The administration claims he is affiliated with MS-13, but no charges have been filed, and his attorneys deny the allegation. The Supreme Court filing contends that while deporting him to El Salvador was a procedural error, the removal itself was lawful. The case is part of broader legal challenges to the Trump administration's aggressive immigration tactics and its attempts to sidestep judicial checks on deportation practices.Trump asks US Supreme Court to pause order to return man deported to El Salvador in error | ReutersA U.S. appeals court has blocked President Donald Trump from removing two Democratic members of federal labor boards, reversing a previous decision and restoring legal protections for their positions. The D.C. Circuit Court, in a 7-4 vote, reinstated lower court rulings that barred Trump from firing Gwynne Wilcox of the National Labor Relations Board and Cathy Harris of the Merit Systems Protection Board. The court reaffirmed long-standing laws that only allow such removals for neglect, malfeasance, or inefficiency—not at-will.Trump's administration argued that these protections infringe on presidential authority, and plans to appeal, potentially setting up a Supreme Court showdown. If the high court agrees to hear the case, it could revisit decades-old precedent that preserves agency independence, with potential ripple effects on bodies like the Federal Reserve and Federal Trade Commission. The judges noted that Wilcox and Harris's roles primarily involve adjudicating individual cases, not shaping executive policy, making them constitutionally protected from political dismissal. Without them, the boards would be paralyzed, with thousands of pending employee appeals left unresolved. This legal fight is part of Trump's broader effort to exert more control over independent federal agencies, a push that critics say threatens the checks and balances built into administrative law.US appeals court blocks Trump from removing Democrats from labor boards | Reuters This is a public episode. “Healthiness is resilience,” says Chris Peng, the CEO and co-founder of Labfront, drawing on a definition from his dad's lab that challenges traditional views of health and reframes it through adaptability.   In this episode, Chris and Dr. Andrew Fix talk about how continuous data from wearable devices like Garmin and Dexcom is reshaping healthcare, and offer insights into individual health patterns. Why rely on single data points when the human body is constantly changing? Chris shares how Labfront is helping researchers and institutions like Harvard and MIT use continuous data to tackle inefficiencies and improve outcomes.   With a focus on resilience as the ultimate measure of health, Chris points out how wearable technology empowers individuals to understand their unique responses to stress, sleep, and even alcohol consumption.    Health isn't about perfection, but about how well we adapt. Tune in to Chris and Dr. Fix's discussion that offers a fresh, human-centered take on the future of healthcare.   Quotes “The current medical system and the way that we practice medicine, built around the constraints that existed in the past… You go into the doctor's office, you take one blood pressure monitor, you maybe do a blood test, you do a couple things. But essentially, it's one data point. And as much as that data point is helpful to bring some context, there is a much more multi-layered depth of context that can exist. However, the current medical system is no fault of their own, but basically the research side has not caught up to start doing and understanding this type of data.” (06:31 | Chris Peng)  “Unfortunately, the system, just like everything else, is not a one-size-fits-all. And as I mentioned before, the science and the research is still very, very, very new.” (12:12 | Chris Peng)  “If you're trying to define what is a ‘healthy state,' it's really hard to kind of say what health is. We have infinite definitions of disease states. But lack of disease is not healthy per se. And that's something that I think is really important.” (18:12 | Chris Peng)  “Healthiness is resilience... The better your ability to adapt to situations, the more healthy you are.” (18:48 | Chris Peng) “Science learns from the process and figures things out. And yes, it can be originally influenced by a lot of corporations and their funding, but over the long term, the truth does win out.” (30:17 | Chris Peng)    Links Connect with Chris Peng: https://www.labfront.com/ SideKick Tool: https://bit.ly/4a6CqJS   Movemate:

She stresses the importance of open communication regarding boundaries and how personality and baggage play into those boundaries. Amy and Christine also discuss the role of spiritual health and how it is critical to employing wisdom and discernment in this area.   SHOW NOTES Create boundaries that both you and your husband are comfortable with. Assessing your spiritual health/maturity is critical for navigating these areas wisely.  If you do have concerns regarding a relationship, lay them out before the Lord and ask Him for wisdom and then have a conversation with your husband. QUOTES “There’s just really no set equation for how it should look. I think that it just needs to be customized based on what you’re comfortable with, as long as you’re healthy. That’s the other piece to this. Am I healthy? Is my husband healthy? Is this other person healthy? Healthiness is huge.” -Amy Petersen “I think sometimes in these situations, I might feel some things about somebody, but need to really discern, ‘Is this more of a me issue? Is this something going on with me or is this genuinely something I need to bring to my husband?’ I do think in general, if we have concerns, we should bring it to our husband, but we need to be very clear about what it is that we’re concerned about and what we’re requesting.” -Christine Hoover CONNECT Connect with Amy Facebook // Instagram // Podcast Connect with Christine Facebook // Instagram // Books Visit How to Thrive as a Pastor’s Wife to access Christine's resources for ministry wives like you! Podcast Intro: Men are expected to be strong and mighty. This causes them to keep everything to themselves, not wanting to appear weak. They often keep their emotions to themselves as they believe that they will be used against them once they show their weakness. This prevents them from being happy as they have to pretend what society has imposed on them and hide their feelings. In recent years, society has developed a variety of demands that require a variety of approaches. To meet these demands, men need to adapt. The process of understanding what needs to be done involves growth and development. Angus Nelson is a coach and the founder of Evolve Men Coaching. He is among the nation's leading performance strategists as he helps ambitious men achieve freedom, happiness, and purpose. In this episode, he shares his experience as a coach and his views and insights on the growth, development, and history of men in this lifetime. You're going to be chasing that all the time. It's filling your life with the things that naturally and effervescently give you happiness and joy.”  “Until a man knows who he is, he can never become or be anything outside of that.” “All that identity shifting we did in the beginning now brings about these new opportunities. Because you've upgraded yourself, you want to attract your brain and this equilibrium to attract these higher frequent levels, relationships, experiences, and opportunities.” “Just like everything else, we attract what we are. If we're trying to pursue these great and mighty things, what we find is that those great and mighty things are filled with emptiness. Because we're doing them out of the pursuit of validation.” “Transformation in your life is nothing more than having a context of tools that help you advance your understanding, yielding, and letting go.” “I'm giving myself permission, and that permission is all the power you need.” Guest Bio: Angus Nelson Angus is a man on a mission. He's a high-performance coach for men, one of America's top performance strategists, and the Founder of Evolve Men Coaching. He takes years of best practices from advising Fortune 500 leaders to help ambitious men create more freedom, fulfillment, and focused intent to make the impact in the world they were designed for. His past clients include members from Fortune 500 brands to celebrity personalities while speaking at headquarters for America's top brands such as Walmart, Coca-Cola, BMW, Disney, Whole Foods, and Adobe.
