Episode 26-22 Does Atrazine Cause Infertility, Low Testosterone and Birth Defects? The original plan for this episode was to share scientific studies showing the health benefits of sweating. Studies that specifically prove how sweat can help your body rid itself of toxins. Something, however, changed my mind. Something related to one of the toxins I was studying…  Atrazine. Atrazine is a powerful herbicide used to prevent weeds from growing around crops. And while that certainly "sounds" good, there are some serious consequences related to the use of Atrazine. Consequences such as Infertility, Low Testosterone levels, and Birth Defects. Needless to say, that's not good. It's also not talked about. Until now. On this episode I talk about the dangers of Atrazine and why it's important to be aware of them. Please give this episode a good listen and share it with everyone you know. (It's really that important.) Thanks! ———————- Want to learn more? Continue the conversation regarding this episode, and all future episodes, by signing up for our daily emails. How do public health experts detect emerging risks to pregnancies before they become widespread crises? In this episode of The MotherToBaby Podcast, host Chris Stallman, genetic counselor, mom of four, and teratogen information specialist, sits down with Dr. Amanda Elmore, Assistant Professor of Maternal & Child Health at the University of South Florida, to explore the powerful role of birth defect surveillance. Dr. Elmore shares how her career in public health began during the Zika virus epidemic—reviewing medical records of exposed infants to help the CDC understand the real-world impact of in-utero exposure. She explains how surveillance systems track structural and functional birth anomalies, serve as early warning systems for new and emerging exposures, and shape everything from clinical care and referral services to national public health policy. The conversation also dives into: How surveillance led to rapid public health responses during the Zika crisis What neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) reveals about opioid exposure during pregnancy The push for real-time data using electronic medical records and health information exchanges How machine learning and natural language processing may transform how cases are identified Why a life-course perspective matters for children born with birth defects How surveillance data supports funding, prevention efforts, and long-term family services Dr. Elmore also shares her vision for the future: a more standardized, timely, and integrated national system that can better support prevention, research, and lifelong care for affected children and families. This episode offers a behind-the-scenes look at how data quietly powers some of the most important protections for moms and babies.

Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows!   This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track!   Check out today's questions:    Cassie: Hi Dr. Cabral, I truly enjoy your content and am hoping to start your IHP curriculum within the next year. My question is about the safety of Cyperus Rotundus oil. It is noted to reduce hair growth when paired with hair removal methods such as waxing or laser. However, I have seen a study mentioning that its effects on hair growth are due to it's antiandrogenic properties, which would make me think it would only be beneficial in removing hair growth that was directly due to androgenic hair. Do you know anything about Cyperus Rotundus oil and its effectiveness or safety? I am always cautious about remedies, natural or otherwise that could affect hormones as I have had major hormone imbalances in the past and know that my body is sensitive to hormone fluctuations. Curious if this oil truly does have antiandrogenic properties or not, I am reading through some of the studies to try and understand but would appreciate your expertise. Thank you!      Darren: Good  day Dr. Cabral. I've been seeing all over social media where posters show studies indicating Older fathers (35+) are associated with increased birth risks/defects. Any truth to this or is it because some older men lead unhealthy lifestyles?      HC: Thank you for sharing your wealth of informaiton to HELP so MANY Of US!!! Do hydrogen tablets provide all the health benefit claims? I cannot afford home hydrogen water system and looking for alternatives. At home we use Berkey counter system as I take totally trust your recommendations. THANK YOU!!!      Anonymous: Hi Dr Cabral. My daughter is 10 and gets acid reflux. It's noticeable on her teeth and she complains about it after certain foods every now and then. We have had a stool test done here in Australia which was negative for H.pilori and have seen a paediatrician but they recommended putting something down her throat to have a look, but if we can I'd like to avoid that as she has already had to go under for a surgery before so I'm not keen on her going under again. My partner and his family get acid reflux. Over time my partners has gotten better but he has really brittle teeth so I'm wanting to get on top of it while my daughter is young to avoid this happening to her. Would really appreciate your advice Thank you so much!      Jackie: Hi Dr Cabral, thank you for all that you do. I have been using for 10 days and the very intense itching/flushing (why I took it) has become much more frequent and intense? Typically a warmer room or high stress event could cause me to get this deep internal itch/flushing sensation, now it is happening without a distinct trigger. If I sweat with a "ginger bath or cardio" symptoms are gone for about 2 hours. Any thoughts as to what could be happening?  Thank you for tuning into today's Cabral HouseCall and be sure to check back tomorrow where we answer more of our community's questions!      - - - Show Notes and Resources: StephenCabral.com/3655 - - - Get a FREE Copy of Dr. Cabral's Book: The Rain Barrel Effect - - - Join the Community & Get Your Questions Answered: CabralSupportGroup.com - - - Dr. Cabral's Most Popular At-Home Lab Tests: > Complete Minerals & Metals Test (Test for mineral imbalances & heavy metal toxicity) - - - > Complete Candida, Metabolic & Vitamins Test (Test for 75 biomarkers including yeast & bacterial gut overgrowth, as well as vitamin levels) - - - > Complete Stress, Mood & Metabolism Test (Discover your complete thyroid, adrenal, hormone, vitamin D & insulin levels) - - - > Complete Food Sensitivity Test (Find out your hidden food sensitivities) - - - > Complete Omega-3 & Inflammation Test (Discover your levels of inflammation related to your omega-6 to omega-3 levels) - - - Get Your Question Answered On An Upcoming HouseCall: StephenCabral.com/askcabral - - - Would You Take 30 Seconds To Rate & Review The Cabral Concept? Three facts are scientifically undisputed: Serotonin is essential for fetal brain development. SSRIs disrupt the serotonin system. SSRIs freely cross the placenta. So why are pregnant women being told these drugs carry "little or no risk"?In this rare head-to-head debate, Dr. Adam Urato—maternal-fetal medicine specialist and FDA expert panelist—faces off against Dr. Robert Chen, a psychiatry resident willing to do what most of his colleagues won't: step into the arena and defend the establishment position. What unfolds is a striking conversation where both physicians actually agree on more than you'd expect—including that informed consent is failing pregnant women, that the chemical imbalance theory is dead, and that "untreated depression" is a misleading frame designed to sell drugs. The uncomfortable question neither side can fully answer: If SSRIs are correcting depression, why does the research show worse outcomes for women who stay on them? This isn't anti-medication propaganda. Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend!   I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks…   Gaby: Hello! Hope your having a great day. I searched your podcast for something on birth defects, but didn't find a lot. Can you tell me what causes birth defects (besides genetics) and how to prevent them (even with genetics). And if I have MTHFR, should I be concerned about using 1020 mcg of L-5MTHF? I heard that that amount can build up in the body even with this form. I'm using a prenatal with that amount and I'm hoping to become pregnant next year.                                      Derrick: Hi there. My dad is on dialysis and needs to have a kidney transplant. I would love him to see a FM doctor but at 71, the approach feels completely foreign. Please can you help with any diet/supplement recommendations / foundations that could support him. The smallest tips that provide the biggest impact would be so appreciated.              Dana: Hi Dr. Cabral, I listened to your review of the Neuropod. I was wondering if you measured the emf's? And what level were they? Thank you, Dana                                                                                                                                                   Mohamed: Good day Dr.Cabral, appreciate all the work you do and the entire Equilife team. Thanks for everything. My question is regarding IOP pressure. Laser eye surgery due to "drainage" was mentioned however it seems like it's more for "preventative purposes". However the alternative mentioned was a 20-30% risk of developing acute glaucoma. Her IOP is normal for now… no other alternatives were suggested. I feel like they are jumping to laser eye surgery (risk).. thoughts? Any other tips for eye health in general, nutrition supplements.. etc. I know you mentioned Lutin before. Thanks                                                                                                                                             Sarah: I heard you mention that you add psyllium husk to your shake every day. I am starting to add psyllium husk to my diet, but I am wondering about timing. I read that you should take psyllium one hour before or two hours after any supplements as it can combine with certain nutrients and reduce absorption. If you add the psyllium to your shake with the DNS Powder, does that not reduce absorption of any of the nutrients? I just started taking it and have been careful to take it away from my supplements, but it would be much easier to just take with my shake or meal. I really appreciate your help!           Thank you for tuning into this weekend's Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right! - - - Show Notes and Resources: StephenCabral.com/3586 - - - Get a FREE Copy of Dr. RaeAnn Tucker joined Seth Parlier on Wake Up Tri-Counties to talk about what's happening with the Henry and Stark County Health Departments. January is National Birth Defects Month, and the 2025 theme is "Every Journey Matters." This nationwide initiative emphasizes making healthy choices to reduce the risks of birth defects. Pregnant women and those planning pregnancy are advised to take proactive steps such as consuming 400 micrograms of folic acid daily, managing pre-pregnancy weight, and updating vaccinations to promote the birth of healthy babies. Every 4 ½ minutes, a birth defect occurs in the U.S., prompting local health officials to advocate for awareness and preventive practices. First Choice Healthcare Clinics across Kewanee, Colona, Toulon, and Rock Island are making strides in community health through their comprehensive family planning services. These clinics provide crucial support, including annual physical exams featuring breast exams and pap smears, alongside contraceptive services and pregnancy testing. Designed to empower individuals to make informed health decisions, the clinics also assist in the early detection of other health issues, facilitating timely referrals to specialized care. Services are financially accessible, with a sliding fee scale for low-income families and available grant funds for eligible clients. To learn more or book an appointment, visit henrystarkhealth.com. The Henry & Stark County Health Departments, together with First Choice Healthcare, are urging residents to stay proactive about their health as the infectious season may continue until May. They are offering Pfizer's updated Covid-19 vaccines and seasonal flu shots for both adults and children over 6 months old at their clinics in Kewanee, Colona, and Toulon. For COVID-19 vaccinations, appointments are necessary and can be made by contacting the nearest First Choice Healthcare clinic. Flu shots for adults are available on a walk-in basis, while children's flu vaccinations require an appointment. The health departments also recommend regular hand washing, covering your nose and mouth when coughing, and staying home if sick to keep the community healthy during the festive season. For more information, call the First Choice Healthcare Clinics in Kewanee at 309-852-5272; Colona at 309-792-4011; and Toulon at 309-852-3115, or visit our website at www.henrystarkhealth.com; find them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram at Henry and Stark County Health Departments.

Last week, the EPA made a surprising announcement, a first in forty years, in which they issued an immediate emergency ban on a pesticide called DCPA. Now, I know what you're thinking - wow, I'm glad they're actually pulling a harmful product off the market! It is cause to celebrate, but let's dig a little bit deeper. The unfortunate truth is that this pesticide has been used in the US since the 1950s and we've known about it's harmful effects since the 90s. So why did it take so long to ban DCPA? What is DCPA used for? And who in our population is most directly negatively affected by this pesticide? We're going to dig into all of the details on today's episode.   I also want to take you behind the scenes on how regulatory agencies, influenced by industry pressures, often prioritize manufacturers over public health. This is important information to have, even post-ban, because their are still tons of pesticides on the market that, frankly, should have been banned a long time ago. In this episode, we're chatting about:  Understanding DCPA as a chemicalThe EPA's delayed response and public pressureCalifornia's struggle with DCPAHow to protect yourself from harmful pesticidesIf you enjoyed this week's episode, please: Leave a positive review or rating wherever you listen Shop toxin free products on my Toxin Free Shopping Guide Download your free 25 Toxins to Avoid Post a screenshot, share what you loved, and tag me on Instagram @wendy_toxinfreeish Want to ask me a question to get answered on the podcast? She grappled with the "what ifs" and the unspoken pain of feeling like she had somehow failed her son before he even had a chance. Today, Morgan shares warm feelings about her son's diagnosis and journey and hopes that she can be an advocate to empower and give hope to other mother's along the journey.  Want to share your story?
