What does having a millionaire brand mean and why should people look at their companies in this way.Aaron: Let's talk “mindset” for a moment. That is a majority of what I get to do with my company, Our Success Group, is support people with my Success Principles certification in finding the mindset they need for success. So what is a growth mindset and how can someone cultivate that?Terry: You all are great marketers at your company, and we have seen you sharing your secrets with others. For example your presentation at the 2019 ThreadX event in Scottsdale. What are some of the key marketing tips you can give our listeners, the Regulators, that they can put into action right away?Aaron: Tell us your thoughts on the digital printing space currently and where it is headed? DTG, DTF, print on demand, merch, all seem to be terms that are popular right now. What are your thoughts?Terry: I was in Long Beach last week for the Impressions Expo as were you. With this partial pause in shows over the past two years, I'm curious about what you see as the future of trade shows in the industry. Status quo or some hybrid of shows past and our efforts to reach out to customers during Covid.Aaron: Future projects you'd like to share with us, Victor?Aaron: Victor, where can our listeners find you? Aaron: Trade shows are all the conversation in the industry yet again. You've just wrapped up the Atlantic City Impressions Expo. Give us a recap. Terry: Another show in Ft Worth is now just around the corner. Talk to us about that event coming next week. Aaron: Jamar, tell our listeners where they can go to find out about Impressions Expo and Impressions magazine. Printing United Cancellation PRINTING United Expo event, which was scheduled to take place this October 6-8 in Orlando, has been officially canceled for this year. The announcement came out this week soon after the information was leaked on the internet. They are now working toward the October 19-21, 2022 event back in Las Vegas. Terry and I were speaking at that show, plus we did have a booth space as well to do our show live daily. In an effort to help the industry as decorators struggle to find blanks to decorate fellow decorator and expert screen printer, Nathan Leber decided to look for solutions. He said, "In light of the garment shortage and my disbelief that nothing can be done, I made a live Google Sheet that has some of my shops blank inventory on it." The goal is to provide an open Google Sheet that everyone can access to possibly find an item that might not be available at the supplier's locations due to the issues they are facing with containers and cotton shortages. Nathan believes that most shops are like his, where they have a stash of excess inventory where something happened on the job or they misordered. He goes on to say "I know all of the decorators' community has this stuff around their shop and for whatever reason it is just collecting dust when someone could be using it." He is trying to spread the word about this open Google sheet, which you can find at www.bit.ly/stocksheet1. Any decorator can go and add extra inventory they would like to move, and look for and coordinate getting blanks from others. The more people use the list to both buy and sell, the more valuable it will become for the industry as we navigate these difficult times of shortages, unbalanced stock, and shipping problems. Nathan only has two 'asks' of the decorators' community "Please try to keep the formatting clean and NO PRICE GOUGING or I will be forced to delete it from the sheet. Hopefully, we can all help each other out and find some of the garments that we know are sitting in a corner somewhere." To access the spreadsheet and to add your excess inventory www.bit.ly/stocksheet1 Dad Joke: Did you know buying an Elmo t-shirt helps the retailer, the shipper, the decorator and even the local sales tax base? Please note: these public, indoor spaces include exhibit halls, meeting rooms, and lobbies. Masks will be made available at the event, if needed. Impressions Expo in Atlantic City, NJ is August 26-28. We're even seeing people register from New Jersey and Pennsylvania! If you are worried about traveling to large cities right now, it's good to know that the DAX show venue is located on I-80, just southwest of the Chicago metro area. For almost anybody attending, there is no need to go through Chicago to get to the very safe, friendly, and upscale suburb of Tinley Park. The convention center has installed a new air handling system making it one of the first convention facilities in the country to have a 'negative-pressure' event space, with the air in the exhibit hall being exchanged with outside air several times an hour.

Aaron: Henry, today we're talking about How Businesses Bounce Back after Covid 19 or any mass interruption in business. First, are we bouncing back now? -Restrictions being lifted, businesses opening up -Lots of businesses were started in the middle of a crisis, so there is potential to start your business or grow it by taking advantage of some of the positive repercussions like less competition. Terry: As Aaron mentioned, we could be bouncing back from a variety of business setbacks. Is part of this (and I know the horse is out of the barn on this particular event) being prepared in the first place? -Should always have a safety net when it comes to savings when you have a business. -Owning a business is always a risk and must be prepared for the ups and downs of the market. -Having a second form of revenue is always a good idea if you can manage it. Think about selling your own brand and not wait for custom orders. Aaron: As we start to bounce back here, how can we both leverage and support our existing customer base? -reach out to customers you've had in the past for repeat orders -see if they like any new items relevant to the times- i.e. contact a business you created uniforms for and see if they'd like matching masks. -reach out to existing customers for referrals to gain new customers. -upsell and offer bundles to new customers to increase revenue Terry: I've seen some industry sources sharing your video advocating for starting a business post Covid 19; why do you think this is a good time to start an embroidery business? -less competition -lots more qualified people looking for jobs you can hire for le...

Terry- let's start with you.Terry: Fulfillment markets are seeing a real uptick… as the non-contact delivery has become important. (Explain fulfillment) What makes you special (different than anyone else)?Aaron: We talked about this a little in previous episodes, but the live event space has certainly changed, and I think it will be different possibly for good. I know people will get back to getting out and getting in crowds, but it is still going to be different. The take advantage of this space when it returns, you have to be different. I think it is going to take technology, like automatic texts when the order is ready etc. Make the experience memorable (My Office Max v Amazon experience)Terry: Offer businesses a care package to send to their good customers with a t-shirt, etc. A “thinking of you in this trying time” sort of thing. You build the package and they take advantage of the good will that follows. This could turn into a real niche in the marketplace.Aaron: My last one is going to be the school market. I think everyone who was in the school and sports market took a major hit with COVID so I think that is going to shake some things up. I think it is going to push people to get new payment arrangements made with schools. No more of these 90 days POs etc. I think it is going to make the space a bit more open when it does come back as some businesses didn't make it or have turned their focus elsewhere. I think you are going to really have to make sure if you are going to be dealing with schools, you have the deck stacked your way as it is just too dangerous. Lastly, I think when it comes to donations and asking for support, schools are also going to have to get it together. Like for example, I know my kid's school asks for money non-stop and we are happy to donate what we can because I know they support th...

Everything you do, from how you design forms, what platform you use, how you accept payment, to how you organize your goods should all be done with the mantra in mind that you never increase complexity for the user unless it is absolutely necessary. I see so many people making it hard to give their companies money! How have you seen this go wrong and what would you do to make it right?Accessibility: Your site must work on the platforms your users are likely to use, be accessible and easily found in the places where your customers interact with you, and should be readily navigated without question of where one is going and how to get to the next step. Your site must be both literally accessible, as in live, easy to get to, and able to be used on any device your customers rely o...

Dad Joke: What are the only types of jokes allowed during a coronavirus quarantine? Inside jokes New Niche Markets Aaron: We're in a whole new world of business now, and will likely continue to change in one form or another for the foreseeable future. But, niche markets have always been the best way to reach customers and have success. Let's talk about new Niche Markets and new approaches to our traditional niche markets. Terry: It's been a while since we've talked, let's define what we feel niche markets are, and why they can benefit a company. Aaron: Let's start by talking about newly created Niche Markets as a result of the Covid-19 situation. Aaron: I'm going to dive in because this first one is quick I think - If you don't have an eCommerce set-up with your own line of products that you create, this is a perfect time to do it. You can get it set-up on a new Facebook Shops store, Etsy, or even your own ECWID site where you can have up to 10 products for free and have very little expense if any, but have your own line of predesigned items. Create something that speaks to you directly, and area of passion, and then set-up a few mock-ups. This will allow you to have something to hopefully put more marketing and effort into if another COVID or disruption comes around. So next time the customer orders dry up for a bit, you can run some Facebook ads, push in some Facebook Groups, do some Google Adwords or whatever your niche needs and boom you have created your own work to do during the downtime. Terry: Face masks - who saw this coming? Print samples for any local businesses that are open or about to open. Would any of those businesses like to give away masks to their own customers… hair and nail salons, restaurants, bars, etc.? The concept of donating masks shouldn't be overlooked. A customer of yours may want to donate masks to the local police that just say “To protect and serve.” What about social workers, Meals on Wheels volunteers, etc.? A great philanthropic idea that will really matter! Aaron: So we always joke about 52 niche markets, so to best help us get as many in today, I'm going to bundle this one. Babies! In about 13 years we are going to have the quaranteens, and all this staying at home could produce a baby boom. Babys need blankets and onesies and hats and everything else for that perfect Instagram picture.

PrUA serves not only as an industry resource but as an advocate according to the new press release.Dad Joke: Where do you take someone injured playing Peek-a-boo?The I.C.U.(Joke courtesy of Joe Ortinau) Evading eCommerce Pitfalls Aaron: As many of you may know, Erich Campbell is usually the man behind the scenes pushing the buttons for 2 Regular Guys; those of you who have been in the decorating business know him as a machine embroidery digitizer and educator, having written for many of the industry magazines we know and love, but you may not know that Erich has been deeply involved in building and running eCommerce stores for most of his decoration career, even spending a stint working for a major industry eCommerce company. With that, let's bring Erich on so he can join in the discussion!5 eCommerce PitfallsLack of Focus: This can come in the form of not knowing your audience and therefore not being able to target them or not curating your garments so that your customers are doomed with an overmuch of choice; Let's talk about how a lack of focus in any area can cause issues for ecommerce.Failing to Promote: No matter what balance of online to offline sales your company does, not spending active effort and capital to promote your online store will leave it suffering. Whether you use company stores as a tool for order-taking, you are running retail-styled collections, or building a customization business online, people can't use your site if they don't know it's there. Let's talk about promotions.Poor Presentation: When dealing with customers online, you can't rely on your personal charm to pull off the sale; the presentation of the site, the images and copy you use to show and describe the product, and the design of your site can influence the way that your customer feels about your brand. Moreover, it shouldn't stop online- if your customer gets one order in a nice logoed box with a ‘Thank You' message and a topper sheet to prevent dirt / infiltration another with a roughed-up box without as much as a packing slip, which one is going to produce delight and let them know you care about their order? Let's talk about the presentation.Failure to test / poor understanding of the purchasing process: If you haven't purchased something from your own store, that is the first thing you need to do when we finish talking today. Not being able to speak the customer's language or to locate them in the ordering process when they need support makes you either look ignorant or makes your system seem less trustworthy. You need to test; first, because you need to see if you can find areas of friction that reduce the ease of ordering that may need to be addr...

News “90 Days Before You Pay” on Stahl's Spirit Sale Platform - Stahl's has decided to offer something to help apparel decorators who don't have online stores. They think that it is such a critical component of survival for many shops and supporting other small businesses during this time and really thriving beyond this time. The program is “90 Days Before You Pay” on the new Spirit Sale Platform. At the 90 day window, the shop can cancel or pay for the service, the price is $599 a year normally. Our hope is that they've generated enough revenue and we are out of this mess so they want to continue. But if not, they cancel and no money is exchanged. Use this promo code on Stahls.com: SPIRIT Add the product to your cart and check out with that code and it kicks in the special terms and zeros out the transaction. To sign up for the daily weekday demo at 3pm EST: https://m.stahls.com/spiritsale/Josh also published an Apparel Decorating Survival Guide. She became relentless in her pursuit of a solution and developed a plan to save her shop. Once it was working Sloan enlisted the help of industry leaders to keep the faucet flowing for the community-focused print shop.Aaron: Let's start by you telling us a little bit about Tiny Little Monster.Terry: Here for Good, Sloan. So we have to ask do you have another one for us? Aaron: Let's start off with a quick check-in with you as we all deal with the pandemic. What changes have you had to make to your business so far and do you have any suggestions for others on how to weather this storm? Terry: Today our goal is to continue your presentation from ThreadX and our brief chat after your presentation. We have had some time to digest everything. What was your biggest takeaway or nugget from ThreadX that you went to work on as soon as you got back? Aaron: We have heard nothing but wonderful reviews of your presentation and feel the same way. Since ThreadX have you had conversations with anyone who has made changes to their culture. If so what resonated with them? Terry: Aaron works with a larger wholesale sublimator as a consultant and we have had many conversations about culture based on that work. For companies struggling with implementing a culture they want, do you have any advice? Terry: We titled this show based on your ThreadX presentation “A Virtuous Culture” and are just really impressed by your leadership. How do you become a virtuous leader? What does a day in the life of Pete Lovelace look like? Aaron: How many confetti cannon do you go through a year at Booster? But in all seriousness, the celebration piece seemed to be core to your company, what does that do for your team? Aaron: At ThreadX one of the slides was a screen capture of an Asana Project. I just started using that tool, How much do you love it, what are people missing out on that are not using it. Terry: How can people find you or Booster Spiritwear to connect? News I reached out to Marcia and Josh at Impressions Expo yesterday to see if there's any buzz about the coronavirus impacting the Atlantic City show. They say everything is a “go” and based on attendee sign ups exceeding expectations. News Impressions Expo Long Beach Recap - Tune In! Employee Engagement 101 Today Terry and I are going to be talking Employee Engagement 101. And since Terry has more experience dealing with a production floor full of employees, I'll be asking the questions.Let's start with this. What's the #1 most important thing an owner or manager should focus on when it comes to dealing with your employees.Communication - ExpectationsTalk about your business, goals, aspirationsWho knows more about making things better in your business than the people doing the work day to day?Pizza! OK, I've talked about buying pizza a lot. Do Jimmy Johns instead.Do you have any specific examples of poor communication?“Yeah, I'm gonna need you to fire that guy.”I think we all hear owners and managers complaining about their employees. What's you take on this?Nearly every employee wants to come to work and do a good jobIf you complain about your employees attitudes, work ethic, quality of work… look in the mirrorIf you end every bit of praise for a job well done with the work “but”, you're a micromanager. The personality of your business, the attitude of your employees, the way customers see your business is a reflection of you as an owner or managerLet's talk motivationFocus on success, not failureSmall rewards can be the greatest rewardsHow about that one employee that you see in the break room and you just keep walking through the other door like you were going someplace else?Is one employee a black cloud?According to state or province law wherever you run your business, a crappy attitude is not a protected classWe can't do this without talking training - SKIP?1st of all, you have no secrets, so get over yourself52/15Tell us one thing an owner or manager can do to change their work environment and level of stressIf you can't leave your business for a little vacation, or for lunch, that's on you, not your employees. It all starts with trust and the willingness to allow employees to make mistakes.“What would you do to resolve this problem?” Facebook Live Video Other Events Aaron's Online Video Series "Small Business Saturdays" #SBSVideos Every SaturdayCheck out the Podcast version at SmallBusinessSaturdaysPodcast.comOurSuccessGroup.Com - Next Level Business TrainingDemystifying Next Level Digitizing webinar March 28th, 2020Complete Screen Printing Business CourseAtlas Screen Supply in Nashville, February 15-16WorkHorse Phoenix February 29-March 1Scheduling & Estimating Production Time Video Series - April 1, 2020Your Style Guide eBook by Jay Busselle

The company points out that “a trade show gives a decorator a unique opportunity to see all the products needed to run a T-shirt business in one place, get (the) education to improve, and network with peers and experts.” In the hour-long session, instructors explain how attendees can capitalize on these opportunities. The webinar also helps attendees understand the breakdowns of expenses of things like hotel costs, entrance fees, and other items. Similar to other Transfer Express webinars, an archived version of the seminar is available after the live broadcast for registrants. Please Contact Us if you have news to share. Thanks for Printavo for their support! How do they help? Each are different in only small ways. Technically speaking, each will tell you they are very different. Perhaps so, but only in how they get to the end result. Each offer some additional features that others don't. I don't know of one that “doesn't work”. They all work very similar in the end. They may not be the best option at all times, but they do help get work done where you could not have otherwise, on your own. You no longer have to turn work down and say “I can't do that”. You can do it. It may not be an award winner, but your customer typically doesn't need that. They help by enabling a new separator or shop owner to start to see what happens in percentages with separations...and what colors are blended to create others...and most importantly, is to be able to see their own modification results on press. Same goes for using a Freelance separator. You can see how we would handle it and after so many times of handing different projects,

(Should we play the video first?)It started when I heard that Donald Miller, the author of Building a Storybrand, made a statement that “companies should not even consider branding until they're at least a $500 million dollar company.”Although there is truth to this statement, there is a disconnect between understanding the foundation of what a brand is and the visual brand identity. A brand is not simply “music, colors, moods, moodboard...that kind of stuff”. You have to understand who you are, who your ideal customer is, and the message you want to convey to them in order to market to them effectively or intentionally influence how they view your brand by using design So to most people branding is a bit of a fuzzy term, start us off by telling us what branding actually means to people in their everyday business lives?Branding can and has been defined in many ways, but I'll give you my explanation. Very simply put, your brand is your company's identity...it is not what you sell. It's also what people say about your company and how they feel about the way you do business.
