"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you." – Matthew 6:33This verse calls us to put God's Kingdom first in every aspect of our lives—including our investments—trusting that He will provide and use our efforts to advance His purposes. Today, Will Lofland joins us to share how that's happening right now. Will Loftland is the Managing Director of Investments Distribution at GuideStone Funds, an underwriter of Faith & Finance. He also oversees GuideStone's shareholder advocacy strategy and represents the firm as a participant in the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility.Who Is Guidestone?Guidestone is more than a financial services firm—it's a ministry to ministries. It is focused on serving ministries in all financial aspects of their work, including retirement plans, insurance solutions, wealth management, and the nation's largest Christian-screened mutual fund family.By equipping ministries with financial stability and security, Guidestone helps leaders focus more fully on spreading the gospel. Their services are designed to remove the weight of financial anxiety so that pastors, missionaries, and nonprofit leaders can flourish in their callings. What makes Guidestone unique is its unwavering commitment to honoring God with every dollar invested. Through rigorous Christian values screening, corporate engagement, and impact investing, it ensures that each fund reflects biblical principles.Guidestone's Impact Funds are an extension of this stewardship philosophy. It invests in projects like:Clean water infrastructureAffordable housing initiativesChristian-focused senior living communitiesThey believe that if we are truly stewards of God's resources, we want to invest in a manner that honors God and His purposes for human flourishing. That's where Guidestone's Kingdom Causes program comes in.Born out of the Impact Funds initiative, Kingdom Causes donates 20% of the advisory revenue generated by the Impact Funds and supplements it with additional funding. Since 2020, they've donated nearly $750,000 to ministries advancing the gospel and protecting life.Their giving is focused on two core pillars:Sanctity of LifeSpreading the GospelFrom local to global, the ministries they support reflect these values.Ministries Making a DifferenceLocal Impact: Prestonwood Pregnancy CenterLocated in the Dallas area, this center is an extension of Prestonwood Baptist Church and serves women with compassionate care and gospel-centered support during unplanned pregnancies. They provide honest care, real information, and a strong infrastructure to support needy women. This lecture delves into the integration of subspecialty skills, particularly cleft palate repair, to provide a platform to advance the gospel among unreached people groups. By intertwining the healing art of plastic surgery with the principles of the Gospel, it highlights a holistic approach to medical missions. The talk also underscores the significance of sustainable, long-term engagement, aiming to create enduring health improvements and foster community well-being. Recorded on 19 December 2024 for ICMDA Webinars. Dr Peter Saunders chairs a webinar with Dr Vinod Shah In addressing problems, we often take a forward approach—assessing strengths and weaknesses (e.g., SWOT) before moving to strategic planning. In this session, however, I am adopting a different method: working backward from the desired impact. I have identified 10 interconnected health-related impact categories that could transform India's healthcare landscape. The audience will then explore how they can contribute to one or more of these areas. No specific model is prescribed—whether it's a mission hospital, clinic, or public-private partnership. The focus is simply on making a meaningful, positive impact on at least one or two proposed factors. Since these factors are interconnected, it will have a domino effect on the others. Although tailored for the Indian context, this reverse-engineering approach can be applied globally and fosters innovation. After coming to Christian faith from a Jain background, Dr Vinod Shah's passion is serving God through Medical Mission. He did his M.B.B.S, M.S & M.Ch from Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. He served as Executive Director of the Emmanuel Hospital Association in New Delhi; was the Head of Distance Education at CMC Vellore; and from 2014-2019 was the CEO of ICMDA. Healthcare access is not equal across all countries around the world. Pediatric orthopedic surgeon Dr. Brian Scannell is actively working to address this issue. Recently, he resumed his passion for medical missions, embarking on a journey to provide essential care to underserved communities. In this episode of the Prosperous Doc Podcast, as Dr. Scannell joins host Shane Tenny, CFP®, to share his experiences and insights, offering inspiration for those considering similar humanitarian endeavors. Project Perfect World started in the late 80s with the refurbishment of a medical clinic in Ecuador. Dr. Scannell began volunteering with the group around 2010. At that time, the project's focus was shifting toward pediatric orthopedics. Now the group organizes twice-yearly missions to the area, providing medical care each spring and fall.“Anytime you're doing mission work, I think of going in and making sure that local surgeons and physicians are involved, making sure that there's good communication, making sure that there is good follow-up for those patients,” Dr. Scannell says. “So it's never something that you go in and you do these big surgeries, and then you're just gone.” The trips have been profoundly fulfilling for Dr. Scannell, both in terms of fighting burnout, reigniting his passion for the profession, and building long-term friendships with the other doctors who travel with him.
This week Lara and Michael sit down with Palestinian American ER doctor Mohammad Subeh. He came to the US as a Palestinian refugee during the Gulf War. His grandparents were expelled from Palestine during the Nakba, and he just returned from a 5-week long medical mission to Gaza where he provided medical services at a field hospital with the International Medical Core in Rafah.
Parvez and Omar are truly honored to host Dr. Mohammad Subeh who just returned from a five week medical mission to the Gaza Strip, specifically the Rafah Crossing to the south. Dr. Subeh shares his background born to a Palestinian refugee family living in Kuwait and then forced to flee overnight at the start of the First Persian Gulf War and invasion of Kuwait. Dr. Subeh shares in harrowing detail what he witnessed first-hand during his recent five week medical mission to the Gaza Strip in February and March 2024. It is a sobering listen as he recounts first hand the unprecedented devastation and humanitarian crisis unfolding before our very eyes as Israel continues its brutal military incursion into Gaza. In the midst of the brutality and horror he also beautifully details the unyielding faith and resilience of the Palestinian people. It is an absolute must listen for anyone dismayed by what is occurring in Palestine. Please give it a listen, share widely, and above all pray for an end to the suffering and the ultimate liberation of Palestine. About Dr. Muhammad Subeh Dr. Mohammad Subeh is an emergency physician and traumatologist with a deep passion for innovation and discovery, both inside and outside of medicine. After completing his undergraduate degree (BA Human Biology) and graduate work (MA Sociology, MS Epidemiology/Biostatistics) at Stanford University, Mohammad took his first major dive into entrepreneurship. He founded HireLabs, an outcomes analytics company aimed at deciphering organizational data to reshape and guide how people are managed within these organizations. Since then, he has founded and advised several companies in the health tech space. More recently, his love for science and coffee led him to launch Kenz Coffee Roasters, a bay area-based specialty coffee roastery that sources high quality coffee microlots worldwide and featuring these unique coffees to coffee lovers across the globe. Dr Subeh received his MD from Oregon Health and Science University, and completed Emergency Medicine residency training at the University of Chicago and Ultrasound Fellowship at UC Irvine. Currently, he serves as Partner of Vituity and Assistant Medical Director of the El Camino Hospital Emergency Department in Mountain View, CA. Additionally, he practices emergency medicine at UC Irvine, Catalina Island Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, CA. Warning: This interview contains graphic descriptions of violence and death.Throughout the past five and a half months, Israel has waged a full-spectrum war against the civilian population of the Gaza Strip. The United States and other Western nations have supplied not only the weapons for this war of annihilation against the Palestinians, but also key political and diplomatic support. The results of the actions of this coalition of the killing have been devastating. Conservative estimates hold that more than 31,000 Palestinians have been killed, including 13,000 children. More than 8,000 people remain missing, many of them believed to have died in the rubble of buildings destroyed in Israeli attacks. Famine conditions are now present in large swaths of the Gaza Strip. For months, doctors across Gaza have performed amputations and other high-risk procedures without anesthetics or proper operating rooms. Antibiotics are in short supply and often unavailable. Communicable diseases are spreading, as hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are forced to live in makeshift shelters with little access to toilets or basic sanitary supplies. Israel has repeatedly blocked or delayed aid shipments of vital medical supplies to Gaza. Basic preventative medical care is nearly nonexistent, and medical experts predict that malnutrition will condemn a new generation of young Palestinians to a life of developmental struggles. The result of the onslaught against medical facilities is that there is only one fully functional hospital remaining in the territory, the European Hospital in Khan Younis. Dr. Yasser Khan, a Canadian ophthalmologist and plastic surgeon, just left Gaza where he spent 10 days at the hospital performing eye surgeries on victims of Israeli attacks. It was his second medical mission to Gaza since the war began last October. On this special Intercepted, Dr. Khan speaks to Jeremy Scahill about what he witnessed. This episode is also sponsored by PearsonRavitz– helping physicians protect their most valuable assets. Going on a medical mission trip is a noble thing that many physicians and other health professionals do each year, but many people don't realize that going on those trips is usually an out-of-pocket expense to the physician for thousands of dollars. It also means time away from work and family. So Jon at Contract Diagnostics is raising money to help Dr. Kathryn Sarnoski, his national director of education, defray expenses. She goes on at least one medical mission trip per year. If he is able to raise enough money, then he is hoping to send more than one physician on this trip and make it an annual program. If you would like to contribute to this noble cause, you can contact Jon Appino at Jon@ContractDiagnostics.com. He will match every dollar donated so even a small gift will go a long way to helping those in need.

On today's edition of Family Talk, Dr. James Dobson talks with Dr. Furman about the early stages of their ministry and their commitment to not only save and heal the body, but more importantly, to save the soul by presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ to a hurting and desperate world.
