Teshuvah & Modernity: Themes in Rav Soloveitchik's Discussions of Teshuvah, 1 of 3

In this 3-part course, we will explore key ideas about teshuvah, repentance, in Rabbi Joseph Soloveitchik's theology. Taking his lectures in On Repentance as our jumping off point, we will weave them together with texts from across his writings to see the full picture of his ideas. Class 1: Be Your Own Messiah: Teshuvah as Self-Creation and Self-Redemption Teshuvah = Freedom. But how? And why? This enigmatic equation sets Rav Soloveitchik off on a journey, from the classic texts of the Rambam to modern conceptions of time and the self. Rejecting forms of teshuvah based on feeling bad about the past, he describes a model of teshuvah that is future-oriented and activist in nature. Teshuvah, Rav Soloveitchik argues, is key to freeing ourselves from a deterministic, deadening sense of time, and opening up revolutionary new possibilities in our lives. Class 2: Waking Up from Modernity: Teshuvah as Self-Awareness and Realism How do we realize that we need to do teshuvah? How do we realize we need to change without yet having changed? For Rav Soloveitchik, this problem lies at the heart of what it means to be a Jew in the modern era. Modernity has brought many blessings on both the Jews and the world as a whole, but it has also brought on numerous catastrophes. In this class, we will see how the problem of “waking up” from our routine ways of thinking about ourselves and the world—being self-critical and realistic—is key to avoiding the sins and idolatries inherent to human potential. Class 3: Spiritual Exile and Political Redemption: Teshuvah Beyond the Individual Teshuvah is often thought of as a spiritual endeavor of the individual Jew. There is another form of teshuvah, however: the teshuvah of the collective. Starting from the laws of communal sacrifices which atone for communal sin, Rav Soloveitchik depicts sin, exile, and redemption as a historical drama culminating in but—not exhausted by—a Jewish state. Imagining the Jewish people as a single being—an organic whole—he says that teshuvah must go beyond the actions of individuals and be realized in the life of the nation. On the national level, sin alienates us from our national self and leads to exile from the land, and redemption will mean returning to ourselves and to our land. This means a return to Jewish sovereignty, but also to a critical distance from it: sovereignty can never become all of what it means to be Jewish.

In this episode I talk aboutPeter Gray and his book Free to Learn - Why unleasing the instinc to play will make our children happier, more self-reliant, and better students for life.We talk about how play is learning. how we today think about play as something which is dont to children. Not something they actively participate and even lead. for 10.000 years + kids have been learning all by themselves - THROUGH PLAYKids play themselve into useful members of their communities. When we play we are FREE in a way we arent in other aspects of life.Chimpanzees learn by looking, not by being taught. The amount of things infants needs to learn is almost insurmountablePlayfully participating in life gets imbedded in us and helps us emotionally able to deal with life.WIthout playing in childhood you can get difficulties in your emotional connections with others as an adult. ANd many other problems become more prevalent.Kids has the strongest desire to play because the have the most to learn.Playful aproaches to the world affords more possibilites. It increases your degrees of freedom. The colonialisation of childhood by others.Abusing play as a tool for teaching. BUT play needs to be self motivated. It needs to be voluntary.Adults think play is useful only when it can be harnessed to teach something from the decided upon by adults from the curriculum.Learning happens INSIDE the school and play outside. This is a subtle indoctrination. The serious that happens inside the classroom is of value. The time wasting play happens outside in recess.Play is learning as nature intended it for us. Driven by enthusiasm and not to do well on a standardized test.Playing teaches each of us how to be ourselves! It shows us who we are! Learning is not JUST what happens in schools.its not something you buys. Its what you do in the process of developing yourself as a human being.Biology does not give us built in answers to what it means to be a human. It has given a method to aquire answers. This method is play. This way of being in the world is HOW evolution has equiped us to find ourselves and our WAY.Quote from the manuscript:Genes and biology isn't giving us readymade answers hardwired to solve the difficulties of becoming and staying human. Instead of giving us answers which, as all answers, can be right or wrong, or useful or useless, nature has given us a process to aquire answers. Evolution gave us a method, or an approach to generate answers, not individual answers. This process is play. Anonymity and self creation: Laurie Taylor talks to Thomas DeGloma, Associate Professor of Sociology at Hunter College and the Graduate Center, City University of New York, about hidden identities and how and why we use anonymity, for good or ill. He explores a wide range of historical and contemporary cases, from the Ku Klux Klan to 'Dr H' the psychiatrist who disguised his identity in a meeting which changed his profession's regressive attitudes towards homosexuality. In recent years, anonymity has featured widely in the political and social landscape: from the pseudonymous artist, Banksy, to Hackers Anonymous and QAnon. What is anonymity, and why, under various circumstances, do individuals act anonymously? How do individuals use it, and, in some situations, how is it imposed on them? Also, Tara Isabella Burton, Visiting Fellow at George Mason University's Mercatus Center, on the crafting of public personae, from Beau Brummell to the Kardashians. She finds the trend for personal branding, amongst ordinary people as well as celebrities, originated with the idea that we could shape our own destiny, once the power of the church had waned. What are the connections between the Renaissance genius and the Regency dandy, the Hollywood 'IT' girl and Reality TV star? Might there be social costs to seeing self-determination as the fundamental element of human life?Producer: Jayne Egerton

This week, historian and author Sterling L. Bland Jr. discusses his book In the Shadow of Invisibility: Ralph Ellison and the Promise of American Democracy. This conversation originally took place October 15, 2023 and was recorded live at the American Writers Museum. This episode is presented in conjunction with the AWM's ongoing special exhibit Dark Testament: A Century of Black Writers on Justice, on display now. AWM PODCAST NETWORK HOME About In the Shadow of Invisibility: With In the Shadow of Invisibility, Sterling Lecater Bland Jr. offers a long-overdue reconsideration of Ralph Ellison, examining the trajectory of his intellectual thought in relation to its resonances in twenty-first-century American culture. Bland charts Ellison's evolving attitudes on several central topics including democracy, race, identity, social community, place, and political expression. This compelling new exploration of Ellison's legacy stresses the perpetual need to reexamine the intersections of race, literature, and American culture, with particular attention to how the democratic principle has grown increasingly urgent in the nation's ongoing, and often contentious, conversations about race. Arguing that Ellison saw racial and social identity as being inseparable from the nation's past and its complicated history of racial anxiety, In the Shadow of Invisibility traces the growth and transformation of Ellison's ideas across his life and work, from his early apprentice writing that culminated in his groundbreaking first novel, Invisible Man, through the posthumous publication of his unfinished second novel, Three Days before the Shooting. Focused on his mythic vision of the promise of America, this book firmly situates Ellison in the sociopolitical environments from which his ideas arose, with close consideration of his published writings, including his influential essays on literature and jazz, as well as his working notes and correspondence. Bland foregrounds Ellison's thinking on the responsibilities of Black writers to examine democratic ideals, the legacies of slavery and Jim Crow, and the impacts of civil rights movements. Interweaving biography, history, and literary criticism, and drawing from extensive archival research, In the Shadow of Invisibility reveals the extent to which Ellison's work exposes the contradictions inherent in American culture, arguing anew for the importance and immediacy of his writings in the broader context of American intellectual thought. STERLING LECATER BLAND JR. is professor of English, African American studies, and American studies at Rutgers University-Newark. He is the author of Voices of the Fugitives: Runaway Slave Stories and Their Fictions of Self-Creation and the editor of Understanding 19th-Century Slave Narratives and the three-volume African American Slave Narratives: An Anthology.

She sits down with host Richard Aldous to discuss the latest of her books that peer into the soul of contemporary society with an eye to history, culture, theology, and economics.

There's a beautiful map in my office that, to be honest, is there because we didn't really have anywhere in the house to put it. It's a bit peculiar. It's obviously hand-drawn and ancient, with vivid color and great detail. It looks kind of like a Lord of the Rings map. The labels all use our same alphabet, but the accent marks and strange words show that it's clearly in a different language.  When people visit my office, the more curious of them look at the map expecting to be able to figure it out. It usually starts with them saying, "Oooh, cool map. Don't tell me where it is." "OK," I say. "Let me know if you need a hint." Then their eyes scan it, seeing somewhat familiar features but still unable to lock it in. Almost without exception people need the hint, and after I tell them, everything clicks. "North is down," I say. Cue the sigh of dawning realization and the recognition of Italy's upside-down boot and the Iberian peninsula sticking up like a flag in the Atlantic. It's called the Veltkarte Des Idrisi (the "Worldmap of Idrisi") and, as Idrisi was a Muslim scholar in the 1100's, is centered on the Middle East but with an upside-down orientation. The fear of the Lord is the "North is down" of the Proverbs. Everything in it and in its understanding of life is centered on the fear of the Lord. We will see that, contrary to FDR's inaugural address, the real fear isn't fear itself but fear divorced from its proper target—the Lord, of whom proper fear becomes trust. North is down.

Tara Isabella Burton's new book, "Self-Made: Creating Our Identities from Da Vinci to the Kardashians" explores the western concept of the self-made person. Hollywood celebrity culture and internet influencers are examined. Burton argues that people still believe in God, but have relocated the divine to within themselves. Christ offers a different perspective that has the advantage of being real and true. We bear his yoke or we are lost. Increasingly, Americans are wandering into chaos, but we don't have to. Originally from Kansas City, Kansas, Dee Wallace has worked as an author, teacher, dancer, and actress in film, television, and stage for over 40 years. Her career began in New York, where she studied with famous acting legend Uta Hagen before moving to Los Angeles, where she found her mentor, Charles Conrad. Dee is a true tour de force in the industry, working with countless producers and directors and some of Hollywood's biggest names, including Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Wes Craven, Joe Dante, Lewis Teague, Stephen King, Blake Edwards, and Rob Zombie. Her many film credits include “The Hills Have Eyes,” “The Howling,” “Cujo,” “Secret Admirer,” “The Frighteners,” “10” and of course, her role as Mary in Steven Spielberg's “E.T., The Extraterrestrial.” With over 280 TV movie and film credits on her resume, Dee Wallace is quite possibly the most active woman in entertainment. Dee's important message to the world is: Love yourself beyond anyone or anything else. Love yourself so much that you can't do anything that doesn't make you love yourself more. She began her channeled healing work over twenty years ago when she dropped to her knees after her husband's sudden death and asked for a way we could “heal ourselves.” Seconds later, she received her first message: use the light within you to heal yourself. She has passionately been teaching the art of self-creation ever since. Dee is a strong advocate for accepting (at an early age) our own magnificence and power in a positive, loving way. Her most recent book, “Born,” expands the concepts of Law of Attraction exponentially and simplifies everything you think you know about the power of Self-Creation. “Born” is a powerful book about how Spirituality, Brain Science, and Religion teach the same principles and how you can easily use them to create your life. She offers monthly webinars on a variety of creation subjects. Dee also conducts private sessions from her home in Woodland Hills, California via phone and in person. As a much sought after speaker, Dee has spoken at numerous national and international venues, appeared on every major news and talk show, and been featured on E! True Hollywood Stories and Oprah. JONES.SHOW is a weekly podcast featuring host Randall Kenneth Jones (author, speaker & creative communications consultant) and Susan C. Bennett (the original voice of Siri). Powerfully empowering. Wow, did today pack a perfect pre-New Year punch. Emmy- nominated Dee Wallace, iconic mom in the iconic ET, author, teacher, dancer, and actress in film, television, and on stage, gave us the perfect pandemic prescription for jumpstarting 2022. As detailed in her just dropped spiritual bestseller, Born https://amzn.to/33XgjZ2, Dee chronicles how to give birth to a new you. A new me. And boy is the current me happy to hear it. Dee gave us the basic roadmap, and cited examples in her own life, in my life, and a couple of the viewers, as well. It was a life-changing Gamechangers. I've already put into play Dee's methodology and feel focused and empowered. I've been employing Dee's Self-Creation techniques for a decade or more, my resolve and discipline fade and then renew with each visit in Dee's great company. May I hang onto it this time. Born will reside on my night table to keep me there. With over 250 screen credits to her name, including, The Howling, Cujo, 10, and most notably her starring role in E.T... I can't NOT watch it when I see it's on. Dee was more recently featured in the remake of Rob Zombie's Halloween. Her countless television credits include starring roles in over twenty Movies of the Week and four hit television series including, Sons and Daughters, Grey's Anatomy, Cold Case, Without a Trace, Ghost Whisperer, a recurring role on My Name is Earl, and the Amazon young adult hit, Just Add Magic. The woman has 9 projects in post-production as I write. Dee's authored five books on the subject of self-creation: including Conscious Creation, and Bright Light. Her sixth, the above-mentioned, just dropped, Born, which expands the concepts of the Law of Attraction exponentially simplifying everything you think you know about the power of Self-Creation. It's a blueprint for progress. In addition, Dee's releasing a BuppaLaPaloo & the I LOVE MEs the most powerful little bear on the planet - children's book. The lessons of BuppaLaPaloo books are centered on self-love, empowerment, choice, and action for children at the beginning stages of defining themselves, which define their lives. Oh had I had that then. Dee conducts a live (call-in) internet radio show and offers monthly webinars on a variety of self-creation subjects. She conducts private sessions from her home, by phone. I'll be setting up an appt on Monday. Gonna start the new year focused on happiness, good health, and success. For more info, and to contact Dee https://iamdeewallace.com/ I for one, can't get enough. More cowbell. More Dee! TVC 561.4: Ed welcomes back actress, author, teacher, speaker, radio host, and legendary “scream queen” Dee Wallace. Dee's latest book, Born: Giving Birth to a New You, is a hands-on, reader-friendly guide to the principles of self-creation that Dee has taught and lived by for most of her life. Born not only shows how spirituality, brain science, and religion all teach the same principles that can help us create the life we want, but illustrates how we can all learn the principles of creation by following the example of E.T. and accepting the power of love. As Dee herself puts it in Born, redirecting our inner energy to achieve what we want in life can really be as simple as making ice. Want to advertise/sponsor our show? The Victim Triangle: Moving from Blame to Self-Creation, from Drama to Authenticity

Our society is permeated with a victim mentality that presents itself as prophetic, but is punitive.  Caught in the Victim Triangle, everyone must fit into a role of Victim, Persecutor, or Rescuer --both in individual dramas and in societal theory.  Change presents itself only in the options of shifting roles in the triangle:  persecutors must become victims, victims will fix things by teaching them (and society) a lesson, someone gets stuck in rescuer role.  Is teshuvah, repentance, about being forced to experience the karma of society's ills, or is that a blame game?  In this sermon, I present an alternative framework, rooted in systems psychology and in Torah:  teshuvah is an act of Creation, and when one transcends the triangle, one reaches true authenticity in one's walking with others, walking with oneself, and walking with God.

Dee has authored five books on the subject of self-creation and works with clients all around the world. Dee uses her own magnificence, intelligence, and intuition to help others consciously create their own self-love and to love themselves beyond anyone or anything else. She talks with Sherry and Carla about letting our own light shine, her new book The Art of Self Creation” and a few practical tools to manifest abundance in love.   What You’ll Hear In This Episode:   The media should portray more images of little girls knowing that they are strong and worthy, rather than waiting on a prince to swoop in and save them! A Love Fix question about managing conflict when stuck at home with your partner 24/7 due to the pandemic! Dee Wallace is an internationally known actress, and a strong advocate for accepting our own magnificence and power in a positive, loving way. Dee opens up about her childhood where she watched her mom keep the family going while her dad struggled with alcoholism, and how this plus her coaching many acting students led to her helping others break out of their own patterns and limiting beliefs to achieve a more authentic and successful version of themselves. Dee talks about how she reinvented herself and how our creation is all about the choices we make and the stories we tell ourselves. Dee shares some practical, simple, yet eye-opening exercises to shift on what you do want in a relationship, rather than focusing on what you don’t want or what is lacking. A few of Dee’s favorite tools for conscious creation in manifesting a partner, along with resources from Sherry and Carla on overcoming codependency and gaining confidence. Dee discusses more about her message that the basis of our challenges is because we don’t accept our own magnificence.   Tweetables: “If you don’t love yourself, why are you going to attract the person that will love you?” - Dee When you don’t love yourself you are expecting other people to love you. In this episode, I am joined by author and theologian Tara Isabella Burton. Tara and I explore the distinctive erotic pleasure one can experience in the act of creating a character out of another human being. This sort of seduction involves coming to possess someone else so as to transform them into a character in your own drama. This is a theme in the two works we discuss, Soren Kierkegaard’s The Seducer’s Diary and Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray. We also talk about the influence of Joris-Karl Huysman’s novel, Against Nature, on Wilde. Wilde’s novel, like Huysman’s, is a study of decadence and decay, but the end seems fairly moralizing, in spite of Wilde’s allegiance to the aesthetic. Or so we argue, anyway.

Surprised by Art! With Luc & Kirk

Today Luc and Kirk are joined by sculptor Kelsy Landin. Make sure to follow her on Tiktok @landinart where she has become very popular creating videos of the sculpting process. Instagram she is @landinofficial and youtube Landin Art.Luc chose a spectacular statue to surprise us with. All three of us discussed various aspects of the sculpture as well as its artistic meaning. At first, it was not obvious how it fit into the topic of "Self-creation" but after exploring the work with Luc, we saw a very unique and important aspect of creating the self that many of us do not consider. The poem showed a contrary view to the idea of Self-creation, which gave the three of us much to contemplate.Enjoy this special episode of Surprised by Art, and visit https://www.troubadourmag.com/post/surprised-by-art-8-self-creation to view all the of artworks from different angles, and to read the poem.

Jeff Brown is the author of 5 best-selling books: Soulshaping: A Journey of Self-Creation, Ascending with Both Feet on the Ground, Love It Forward, An Uncommon Bond, and Spiritual Graffiti. He is also the producer of the award-winning spiritual documentary, Karmageddon, which starred Ram Dass, Seane Corn, David Life, Deva Premal and Miten. After writing a series of inspirations for ABC'S 'Good Morning America' in early, 2010, and appearing on Fox News.com and dozens of radio shows, Jeff wrote the viral blog 'Apologies to the Divine Feminine (from a warrior in transition)' that autumn, catapulting him to notoriety. His new terms and short writings became a phenomenon some years ago, and continue to be shared by seekers and growers worldwide. His quotes have been shared in social media by songstresses Alanis Morrissette and Fergie, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau (the wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau) and many other well-known figures. Most beautifully, they have touched and benefited millions of souls. Jeff stands out in the spiritual scene as a proponent of a grounded form of spirituality. Instead of looking to transcend the human condition through meditation and non-dual wisdom, he argues for the importance of embodiment. He asks us not to bypass our humanness, but to celebrate it. Not to find enlightenment independent of the self, but to find our awakening deep within it. Jeff is also the founder of Soulshaping Institute and Enrealment Press. He lives in Canada with his wife, poet Susan Frybort.

Vanessa is the founder of ‘The Limitless Potential Academy’, where growth-seekers come to get the support and experience they need to breakthrough to their next level of potential with Monthly Masterclasses and Group Coaching. Vanessa also runs the 'Limitless Potential' show where she interviews the world's leading authorities in personal development, human behavior and human potential. She also founded the Limitless Potential Inner Circle Community of 5,000+ like-minded, outstanding human beings from 30+ countries across the globe whom support and challenge each other to reach ever increasing levels of their potential daily.Vanessa describes her journey which started by her brother choosing the degree she chose at University because she wasn't aware of what she wanted to do with her life or what her purpose was. This is a common challenge as we are not taught to think for ourselves, we live to please our parents and follow what they want for us, which is usually the "safe" route! After completing her business degree Vanessa still didn't feel good about what she was doing and went into banking but this still didn't fulfill her. She went back to university and started a Law degree because she thought that would open up more doors. She still wasn't happy and it was at this point that her then boyfriend introduced her to the teachings of Tony Robins and this became the turning point for Vanessa. At 24 years old Vanessa was under the impression that she was too old to change (I know right?!?) when she saw a 65 year old attendee of the Tony Robins conference stand up with tears of happiness in her eyes as she exclaimed how she just realized that she had been successful in her career because she felt that is who her father wanted her to be but it had been at the expense of her family life. She now felt free and knew that she could find a life of fulfillment and freedom with her new awareness.Vanessa left Law school, much to the dismay of her family who disconnected from her, claiming Vanessa Jane was a failure! The easy route is very often the most difficult in the long run so find your purpose and follow your heart.Over the last 7 years Vanessa Jane has invested a lot of time and money in her own personal growth and is now sharing these messages with other people to help them live out their potential, which is limitless.Vanessa Jane's advice for her teenage self would be: "listen to yourself and do what you want to do." When you do something with a passion it will be more fulfilling.Question: Who did you crave love from the most when you were growing up?As teenagers we need options with regards to what we can do and encouragement to think for ourselves and pursue our passion. Parents and teachers have our best interest at heart when they try to protect us as teenagers, but at the same time they are not setting us up for success because we are not thinking for ourselves.Vanessa Jane explains how most people are living a life of mediocrity because they have too much "stuff" that is holding them back. When you get rid of that stuff you can transcend your life into one of meaning and fulfillment. Carl Jung: What you most need is where you least want to look. What are the patterns that repeat in your life? What is tripping you up? 95% of what determines our life comes from our subconscious mind which is the programs from he past. We need to rely more on our feelings and emotions to draw on the wisdom rather than what our head says from he programing of the past.Book suggestion: Soulshaping: A Journey of Self-Creation by Jeff BrownI asked Vanessa Jane how her family react to her success now and she was pleased to say that her Mum is now her number one fan who helps and supports her in the business. Some members do not get it and it is important to understand that not everyone will because personal growth requires a new thinking."When you get clear on what authentically inspires you, you actually become unshakeable to all the things your past self was terrified about." - Vanessa Jane PatrickUnderstand that our families want us to be happy and they are coming from a level of awareness where getting a stable career is the right route. It may be right for some but not for all so raise your level of awareness and be authentic in the direction your choose for your life.** Be on the lookout for an upcoming episode where I am going to break down the Golden Rule and explain why I think it us fundamentally flawed **The best place to follow Vanessa Jane is on her Facebook page via the link below. Final word from Vanessa Jane: Her life changed when she decided to take 100% responsibility for her actions and destiny. Our self-imposed blindness removes us so far from awareness of self-creation that we really do become removed from what we create. Then our creations don’t seem to even be connected to our actions—the things we can control. This is painful. We feel we don’t deserve what’s happening and life is a frightening unpredictable place. We truly seem to be a victim of circumstance. This is the great human hoax: that we are victims. There is no more painful or deadly game. But there’s no resistance greater than the one that doesn’t want to give up this hoax. Blinders: on. We need to work through some of our blocks and resistance to see that what had seemed a fixed outer event, put haphazardly in our way, was really a logical extension of our inner attitudes and intentions. Once we see this, our worldview opens up. Doing this takes courage, humility and honesty, plus a whole lotta self-responsibility. But the relief, safety and creative strength we garner from this is hard to describe in words. Over time, we find that we wouldn’t exchange the pleasure of self-responsibility with the fiction of being a victim for anything. We will come to see that life events are incontrovertibly linked to us. They are our creations. They will no longer be connected only as symbolic out-picturings. This brings us to Stage Two. In the second stage, we can see the outer pictures we create with our inner dots. Knowing this changes nothing. We don’t immediately stop producing any self-creation just because we understand that we do this. We need to release all the associated pent-up energy and stagnant feelings before we can begin re-creating. But at least it’s now obvious where our dramas originate: our own feelings, attitudes, beliefs and intentions. Listen and learn more.

It had been Jeff's lifelong dream to practice criminal law and search for the truth in the courtroom. But then, on the verge of opening a law practice, he heard a little voice inside telling him to stop, just stop. With great difficulty, he honored this voice and began a heartfelt quest for the truth that lived within him. Although he didn't realize it at the time, Jeff was actually questing for his innate image, the essential being that he came into this lifetime to embody. He was searching for his authentic face. After publishing his first book, writing a series of inspirations for ABC'S ‘Good Morning America' in early 2010, and appearing on Fox News.com and dozens of radio shows, Jeff's viral blog "Apologies to the Divine Feminine," catapulted him to greater notoriety. The true story of a criminal lawyer called to a more heartfelt path, Soulshaping is every person's journey from self-alienation to soul-satisfaction in the heart of modern life. That journey is all about the inner: the inner world, the inner wild, the inner break for freedom from the shackles of shame, fear and misidentification. Soulshaping is a no-nonsense inner travelogue that inspires us to do the real work of excavating and honoring who we really are, before our opportunity passes. It is a call to question the misguided self-concepts that are fed to us by the outer world, and to faithfully begin our own private revolution–a revolution of the spirit. Soulshaping presents a new and distinctly human paradigm for expanding our consciousness: Ascending with both feet on the ground. This paradigm is rooted in the reality of our daily lives, and makes no distinction between our spiritual quest and our emotional life. Our feelings, our unresolved issues and life experiences, are the grist for the soul mill that takes us higher. Rather than looking for the answers outside of ourselves, we choose to look inside, in our often ignored bodies of wisdom. At times funny, at times profound, Soulshaping will meet you where you live and where you long to live. It is a vulnerable, grounded, original, and beautifully written account of the inner treasure hunt that awaits us all, if we so choose. A journey of courageous self-creation, it is for anyone who has heard a whisper of something truer calling out to them amid the distractions of modern life. It is for anyone getting ready to take flight who needs an inspired push. www.soulshaping.com
